9-ball side pocket..
Date of Scene: 21 June 2020
Location: Rec Room - Xavier's School
Synopsis: A (mostly) friendly pool game is played. Shannon buys pizza for everyone and Remy gets his face on the $1 bill.
Cast of Characters: Gambit, Nightingale, Red, Shadowcat, Warpath

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau , a self professed recovering Catholic, had decided to enjoy a unday afternoon shooting some pool balls. At the moment he is playing solitaire 9-ball, taking the balls out in order one by one..

Nightingale has posed:
While Remy seems to be taking out the pool balls one by one, Shannon's working her way through a mess of fresh, piping hot beignets, and a positively massive mug of chicory cafe au lait. She's kicking back in some bright blue leggings, a long white t-shirt with a hippie Tweety Bird on the front, and bare feet for once. Her phone is next to her as she perches on a stool near the bar, pumping out some good N'awlins jazz, the young healer in training nodding in time to the music.

"Ha! Good luck making /that/ shot, Mr. LeBeau!" The winged teen snickers softly--was that a /challenge/ to the master of physics?

Red has posed:
With a yawn, Alice strolls into the Rec room, eying Shannon first raid the foods then taunt the teacher. "Comeon miss angel, no taunting unless you put a bet down." she remarks, grinning some as she searches her pockets, pulling out a piece of transparent foil and a green stick that looked like a crayon, but turne out to be a stick of some other polymer as she wiped it over the surface of the foil to turn it into something resembling a dolla on a faint look but lacking demarcation and president as well as numbers... and being entirely copolymers.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau rolls his eyes slightly at Shannon, "Honestly mon petie, Ah find yah llack of fait' disturbing." he says in a psudo-omnious tone. He touches the tip of the cue and a tiny faint pinkness appears on it.. Then he lightly taps the cue ball. The Cueball slides effortlessly past the seven, curves around the five, and barely touches the four... Which then has a resounding /crack/ like an M80 going off before rocketing down the table and pocketing itself as well as the 9.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins at Alice. "Naah, no bet. It's just fun seeing a good game like this." She plops the plate of puffy pastries down on the edge of the pool table, the sweet aroma redolent in the air. "Nice shot!" She applauds and chuckles softly. "See, Alice, I know better than to bet against Mr. LeBeau. That's a sure way to lose."

Red has posed:
Alice chuckles, as she eyes the application of a little power on the balls. "A little impossible, but precise. So, what do I do with this now?" she asks, waving the blank of a bill. "Maybe a proper bet?"

Gambit has posed:
Since the main rule of 9-ball is to (spoiler alert) sink the 9-ball, Remy begins to gather the balls back together and start to rack them. "Eit'er yah girls up foh a game? Or if yah bot' wanna play we can play cut t'roat?"

Nightingale has posed:
"Huh. Never played cutthroat. Do I even want to know...?" Shannon's brows loft, the young woman looking intrigued by the idea. "And if there's a bet involved, what would it be?" Let the games begin!

Red has posed:
"never played that either, so what's the rules?" Alice asks, pinning the transparent bill immitation to the table. "Whoever wins gets put into the center of this?" she teases, chuckling. "and then we put the thing to the wall."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau smiles a bit as he fills in the rack with all 15 balls. "Fairly simple concept." he says tightening the rak up then lifting the triangle and tossing it negligently, and perfectly, onto the peg made for it. "Ah control balls 1 t'rough 5." He points his cue at Shannon, "Yah got 6 t'rough 10, an' Alice get 11 t'rough 15. We try ta sink each other's balls while protectin' our own. Last one ta 'ave at least one ball on De table wins."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs softly, peering at the table for a moment. Dared she take on even a simple game without a bet involved? Shrugging, she grins, heading over to the wall to grab a cue and some chalk. Nothing could go wrong, right? Right!

Red has posed:
Alice chuckles a little as she eyes the balls, tapping her chin a little before she nods. "Yea, nothing can go wrong..." she notes as he grabs herself a queue, though she skips on the chalk. "Now, who begins? Anyone got a cube in the pocket?"

Shadowcat has posed:
The good time in the rec room got Kitty's attention and she's used the door to come check it out. Note that down, Xavier's people. Kitty knows how to use a door. It's amazing! She's storlled in wearing her summer gear and promptly found a spot to sit, just taking in the good time that's happening. If she starts playing pool too, she'll just let herself and have fun...see, Kitty's not so serious all the time.

"Alright, who is winning, and what's the punishment for losing?" Kitty asks with a grin, pulling a $100 out of her pocket too, Lockheed up on her shoulder without the holo inducer watching the goings on too as if tracking everything with his eyes. Kitty grabs a cue. "I'm in if you guys want. Watch me owe you each a hundred. Gambling with students, tsk, tsk" Kitty laughs.

Warpath has posed:
The sound of a gathering gets Jimmy's attention. Sure he was heading for the pool, but noise. Right? He wanders into the rec room in a pair of blue jeans, black tank top, and oddly enough he's barefoot right now.

Maybe most don't wander around the mansion that way, but there he is. He pauses long enough to assess the people and the goings on before wandering in to settle for the moment.

Gambit has posed:
As the new pair enter, Remy gestures to the rack of cues. "Grab a stick guys. De game is still cut t'roat but De order is now Remy 1, 2, an, 3. Kitty 4, 5, 6. Shannon 7, 8 an' 9," Jimmy 10, 11, an' 12. Alice 13, fourteen, an' fifteen. Dat work foh everyone? "

Nightingale has posed:
A sly grin curls Shannon's lips upwards, the winged one chortling to herself. She might not be an expert in the game, but neither was she a slouch. "First one down buys pizza for all the rest," she chimes in. Of course, she's not counting on being the first one knocked out of the game. Famous last words? Maybe. Who's to say? "Come on, folks. Game on!"

Red has posed:
Alice nods, gesturing to the queues "Grab your sticks... but we don't play for money. We play for the face on this one." she points out, tipping on the transparent fake without visage.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty isn't planning on losing. Else everyone, yes, even Logan, gets kosher food. And if eeryone means Lockheed too, then God, that's gonna be trouble. More reason for Kitty not to be the first one out. She taps her cue on the floor. Back in England, she saw snooker on TV. Time to put some of that to use hopefully...as Kitty shrugs and nods. "So food and faces. Okay" she nods and gives Remya look that all but dares him to cheat with her in the room. Else...ah she has payback for him...and then gives everyone else the same look, as if making sure they're all on a level field.

Warpath has posed:

Rolling his neck once Jimmy snorts softly and moves to select a cue. Just watching his pick it up will imply his lack of experience. Holding it down from his eye and rolling it will at least make it obvious he knows it needs to be straight. He nods in approval and tests the heft of the cue once more and seems to approve of it.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods to everyone and takes his position. No powers being the rule he doesn't charge the tip of his cue. Still he has an extremely powerful break that shatters balls to every side of the table. He drops one, but it blazes by too fast for the Cajun to see which. "Pass aftah every shot in cut t'roat, hit or miss.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon just giggles, and takes up her position at the table. Her break isn't as powerful, but her shot is actually fairly accurate. She's going after the 7, and manages to bank it off the side to avoid hitting any other balls on the table. For a moment, the ball hovers on the edge of the pocket as if it would halt there. One can almost hear a circus-style drumroll, as the ball hover and...

...it sinks. Looking very pleased with herself, she steps back from the table, grinning from ear to ear. The cue ball was now in a very difficult position for the next person to deal with.

Not her monkey, not her zoo.

Red has posed:
Alice eyes the table, spinning her stick in hand before she moves to aim at the ball, peering along her queue before getting back up and realign for another shot. Onto the 12. Carefully she takes a good aim, Giving the white a wack with the stick, it rocks into the 12, then further down into the 1, the balls ricocheting over the table.

1 barely misses a pocket, but then dings the four to line up right with one, though it ends up stopping right in front. The 12 however does sail into the pocket, cracking down under the table. "Ok, that's three balls out so far?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's just going ful attack, pull power. To this end she's whacking the ball as hard as she can, vaguely in the direction of Remy's set of balls. Preferably, given she kind of shovelled the cue ball, the ones /on the table/ Kitty....either wa she's hit that ball as hard as she can. What happens now? it's up to the gods of bar and pub games.

Warpath has posed:
Watching the scathing shot go everywhere and nowhere all at once, Jimmy puts a little chalk on his cue and walks around the table. His first soht looks about like Kitty's, but for different reasons. Sometimes a new hand at something gets over excited or just doesn't know the right way. Regardless, the cur ball goes carzy and blasts things every which direction and the only one that actually goes in is, in fact, the cue ball. He snorts and shakes his head.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau shakes his head a but scooping the cue out of the pocket and setting it near the head of the table. He chalks up and considers for just moment then shoots a textbook combo, sinking 2 balls.. One of Kitty's, and one of Shannon's. His grin at Kitty definitely challenging. "Yah gonna run wit' De big dogs chere, be sure yah c'n keep up."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon just smirks at Remy, shaking her head as she puts a little chalk on the end of her cue. Okay, so she only had one ball left. She was, quite literally in this case, behind the 8 ball. However, Remy wasn't in the greatest position, either--not with the 3 dangerously close to the edge of a pocket. The winged teen leans over the table, cue in hand, lining up the cue ball with the 3. By the looks of it, the way she is aiming, her stick would skip off the side of the ball and miss the shot.

However, when she takes the shot, it's with a surprising lack of force, and just the tiniest bit of spin on the cue ball, which goes twirling merrily off towards the 3....

...and clips it on the side /just/ enough to sink it into the pocket. Shannon smirks at Remy.

     "Woof."

Just then, however, her phone rings, and she purses her lips when she sees who it is. "Excuse me a second, got to take this call. It's my folks." She heads off to the side, her voice low at first, but then she goes silent, her wings tensing behind her. Something in her stance shifts, from budding pool shark, to a very relieved, very happy young woman--even to the point where she lets out a cheer.

What the heck was going on?

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's no idea. She does, mind, note the ball that, well, she's not in the lead and last woman standing. Unfortunately. Well if she's gonna go down, she'll take them all with her...and given it's her shot, she lines up on one of Shannon's in payback. At last. That's the theory. What happens?

She gives the ball a good clean snick and does catch one of Shannon's, sending it pocket bound. Payback. You sink mine? I'll bring you right down with me, Miss Lance.

Warpath has posed:
Jimmy chalks his cue again and watches Shannon briefly, then goes back to the shot infront of him. He manages to slow his roll this time and not annhilate everything in the way. He does just manage to knick one of his own, but at least he didn't sink it.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins just a little bit at Warpath's shot, "Don' worry about it ta much mon ami. Nobody is perfect..." He then holds his cue almost vertical over the cue ball. He slams down and the ball jumps nearly half the table, running into one of Alice's balls and sending it in. "Well almos' nobody anyway... Everything alright ovah dare Shannon?"

Nightingale has posed:
As it turns out, the ball that Kitty sank was Shannon's last one--the 8 ball. Which, of course, makes her the first one struck out of the game, and thus the one, by her own terms, buying everyone pizza that night. But that didn't seem to faze her one bit, not at all.

As she hangs up her phone, she has the look of a very, very relieved young woman who just had a huge weight taken off of her shoulders. She nods to Remy, and just smiles from ear to ear. "Got some good news on the home front," she replies. "I finally managed to convince my folks to get the hell out of Dodge and move a bit closer, to a more mutant-friendly area. It's going to take them some time, but at least they're going to get the ball rolling."

Red has posed:
Alice eyes the balls, carefully counting where to aim. "Hmmm..." she mutters as she lines up the queue again, aiming at the 1. Because Remy is still in. And he is angerous, right? She takes her time with the shot, then lets it loose, the ball ricocheting over the table.

Shadowcat has posed:
There's a squeak from Kitty at the flying ball. Kitty's diving out the way as she peeks up again, then over to Shannon, Alice, Remy and everyone else. Shaking her head over at them all, Kitty pulls herself back up to her full height again, brandishing her cue like a weapon, and, oh yeah...

She'll do her level best to win this. Which results, because she's not thinking straight, at going for the 7 and going straight on.

Result? It's over by a pocket, and the cue balll's right up against it. Physics is an amazing thing.

Warpath has posed:
The potential of a flying ball gets Jimmy to move just enough that it would sail past him if it came to that. A little chalk on the cue and he stalks around the table thoughtfully. He just barely touches the cue and makes the seven drop. Amazingly the cue doesn't go in after it.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins a little bit, "Dat's great Shannon, dat is absolutely wonderful." He lines up another shot, picking on Jimmy this time, because it's only fair to spread the love around as it were, dropping one of the much larger man's balls effortless. "FoH De record Ah like dead pigs and fungus on mah pizza.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins at the ones who are still left standing, wiggling around happily. "Hell, I'd be buying pizza now for everyone anyways, just because. So we all win!" Giggling, she starts making notes on her phone. "Okay, so that's one with bacon and mushrooms... mushrooms and onions for me... plain cheese pizza for Kitty so it'll be kosher.. anyone else...?"

Warpath has posed:
Still walking around the table, Jimmy scowls at the placement of the balls and how things are playing out. He shakes his head since it appears the game is more or less over and sighs,"Something to learn."

Red has posed:
"Boston for me. That's saue holondaise and bacon." Alice notes as she takes another shot at one or Remy's but misses barely... "Dang.."
