Synopsis: Duncan and Snake Eyes meet up at a museum. After some intereaction they go back to his hotel for Duncan to show Snake some of the swords he's accumulated in the recent trip. They agreed to have a look at some of Snake's gear and later take up Duncan forging a sword for him.
Cast of Characters: Duncan MacLeod, Snake Eyes

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
The museum is a great place...for some. Duncan is enjoying the walk through. Once in a while he looks at something, shakes his head, and seems like maybe he doesn't believe something about the presentation. One of the curators gives him a nasty look, but doesn't say anything.

Snake Eyes has posed:
It's not every day that Snake Eyes gets to spend time in the Big Apple. At least time where he's not performing surveillance or dispatching evildoers. So he's gotten out of his ninja getup in favor of an everyday Average Joe look. He's got the mask on that makes him look like a regular guy, a t-shirt that shows off his forearm tattoo, blue jeans and running shoes. Using his ninja skills of disguise to appear as ordinary as possible.

The museum is a great place to explore. Strolling from exhibit to exhibit he looks over the displays, reading the plaques next to them to gather additional information. And there's a lot to take in, it seems. At one point he ends up looking at the same thing as the skeptical seeming fellow. The ninja turns to him and opens his eyes widely in a questioning look as he tilts his head at the piece nearby.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"It's a fake." he comments softly,"To be accurate it's not as old as it seems." he explains. The curator seems like he could have a stroke right there, but he walks away. Duncan smirks a little bit and looks back at you, speaking aside,"Sometimes the truth hurts."

Snake Eyes has posed:
As the other fellow explains things Snake nods his head. Makes sense to him, after all. At the remark about the truth hurting the masked man laughs silently, his chest rising and falling as his head bobs a bit. His hand slides into his pocket to produce a cell phone which he swiftly swipes on. The machine soon speaks in a robotic voice, "I can't tell. Have to read the signs to know anything about this stuff." Snake taps his chest and then 'zips his lips' with the hand not holding the phone, trying to get a point across.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"It takes practice to learn." he a replies to phone's comments. He considers for a moment and replies,"You're mute or you've taken a vow of silence." he observes,"If you know where a thing comes from, how it is made, and what it is made up of the rest comes easy."

Snake Eyes has posed:
At the statement about mute or a vow Snake nods to his new acquaintance. As he's given more information he pays close attention, nodding his head. The phone's screen gets touched again and the gizmo states, "It sounds like you know a lot about history and craftsmanship. I never studied much of either, but they are very interesting. Always new stuff to learn even if it's about old stuff."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"I'm an antiquities dealer in Vancouver." he replies and adds,"That and I have studied a lot of history as well." Studied it. Right. He looks at the display,"Metal craftsmanship is a hobby of mine as well. I enjoy working a forge now and then."

Snake Eyes has posed:
When the other guy says what he does and studies Snake grins to show he finds the ideas interesting. Then he hears about working a forge and his smile grows further, head nodding. Quickly, he looks down at the phone to make it say, "What do you make on the forge?" This question coming from a guy who spends a good chunk of his income on custom made bladed weapons.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He watches you curiously and once it asks him the question he replies,"Swords and knives. Swords mostly." he adds,"I haven't made one in a while, but I should." He frowns thoughtfully,"A while. Seems like I have something to do when I get back to Vancouver."

Snake Eyes has posed:
There's a look of excitement on Snake's face when he hears the new guy's words. Pointing to himself Snake grins and quickly makes words appear on his phone. It soon speaks, "I collect swords and knives. Train in kenjutsu. Other systems." There's a nod and more phone swiping, "I was best knife fighter in 3rd Ranger Battalion in US Army. Got me the name Snake, because I am so fast. Not in Army any more, retired." He taps his throat then pinches his lips together to try to get something across without resorting to electronics.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He looks at what you are typing and smiles, nodding as he understands a little better,"Kenjutsu is very effective. I have spent some time with it as well. I handle knives pretty well, but the sword is my real talent."
Considering for a moment he nods,"OK Snake. You seem a bit young for retirement." The indication towards the lips and throat causes him to pause. It takes a him a moment, but finally he fills in the blanks,"You can talk, but choose not to. A vow of silence."

Snake Eyes has posed:
Shaking his head Snake goes back to the phone, which spits out, "No vocal cords any more. Can't do Army so they made me retire. Need to shoot, move, communicate."

His shoulders shrug. He understands completely.

Then he goes back to the other part of the conversation, thumb flying across the surface of his phone to make the machine talk, "I am always looking for new weapons to try, but I love katanas. What I have most experience with. Other traditional Japanese weapons, too."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
There is a grimace at the loss of vocal cords,"Here I thought the vow of silence would be bad." he mutters,"Communication would be difficult for sure." He considers what you put into the talking machine and he nods,"A man after my own heart." he comments,"I prefer the katana as well. It has been my most faithful compantion."
He considers and takes a card from his pocket and offers it over. The business is an antiquities dealer in Vancouver. His name and information as well,"You should contact me when next you are in the market for a new weapon or just something old."

Snake Eyes has posed:
Taking the card from his new acquaintance Snake grins and looks at the information it provides. After securing it he gets the phone ready once more, "I am literally always in the market for swords and knives. Prefer practical and tactical to pretty." He pauses for a second, then laughs silently again, "I apologize if I am very excited. Good to meet another swordsman, especially a smith, though."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
There is a soft hmmm and Duncan considers. He looks at the display infront of him again and shrugs,"I do have a few pieces with me, but most of them are more value for their age than their use, but if you want I could take you back to where I'm staying and show them to you." Always in the market for a buyer or maybe he's just tired of the museum or getting eyed by the curator.

Snake Eyes has posed:
Almost as excited as a kid in a candy store, Snake nods his head at Duncan and gives him a thumbs up. That sounds like a great plan. His fingers fly again to make his phone say, "I wish I had some swords nearby to show you." He does, but they're next to his automatic weapons and grenades in a small armory. "When next I am in Vancouver I will bring swords, show you what I like, what I do not like and ask you to make a new one for me, I think."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
Reading the message Duncan nods and starts towards the exit,"You can bring them with you to see me or you can bring some by where I am staying as well." he suggests. Walking through the museum on the way out, the staff seem to be a mixture relief and joy. Opening the doors he heads out towards a late model Mustang, clearly a rental.

Snake Eyes has posed:
Without hesitation Snake follows along, nodding his head a couple of times. His hands stay on the phone so he can continue making it talk for him, "Depending on how long you're staying I can bring some by in the next few days." He eyes the museum staff a bit on the way out the door, then looks at Duncan for a second before his shoulders shrug.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"I will be here for another week." he replies and walks around the car to unlock it,"After that I'll be in Vancouver again, but business always seems to drag me back here,"I'd be glad to see what you have sure."

Opening the driver's door, he pauses and asks,"Are you driving or do you want to ride over with me?" He doesn't seem too concerned by the staff members looking at him either. Amusement maybe, but not concern.

Snake Eyes has posed:
Snake's fingers sail across his phone screen, "I would like a lift, please. No car right now. Usually don't drive in New York."

The ninja's pretty chill now, having gotten over the initial excitement of going to check out some swords. The phone keeps talking after some more manipulation, "How long you been into swords? Smithing?"

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He indicates the other door,"Get in." he offers and settles into the car and starts it up,"It's been a lot of years." he admits,"I started when I was young." That's about as accurate as he can get. The car moves towards the road and heads towards wherever his hotel is,"You are pretty smart about the not driving in the city traffic."

Snake Eyes has posed:
Opening the passenger side door and sliding smoothly inside, Snake buckles his seat belt and nods. His attention is on their surroundings as much as it's on his phone as he continues his half of the conversation, "I have been training since I was a kid. Practice daily. Train in cutting techniques a lot, work on practical application as much as possible."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"The best way to stay at the top of your form." he replies and turns down a side street. Pulling up to the front of a very nice hotel, someone comes out to meet the two of you to park the car,"The younger you are when you start, the better. I suspect you already know that though. How long were you in the military?"

Snake Eyes has posed:
"Army for eight years before retirement," Snake's phone says for him. It continues speaking a moment later, the ninja examining both his mobile device and the hotel they pull up to, "Ranger Infantryman the whole time. Miss it sometimes. Miss soldiers a lot." He shrugs before going on, "Fun to be able to do what I want now, though. I like to train people in martial arts and military stuff like combat life saver."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
The door man opens the door and the two of you walk into the hotel. All the way to the top, just short of the penthouse. He has money, but there are limits to doing business,"I was in the military as well, but it was a long time ago."
He leads you into the room and shuts the door,"I have a dojo in Vancouver as well, but I have long time students to run it for me while I am gone on business trips. It is hard to give up the comradery of the military though. The marial arts help some though."

Snake Eyes has posed:
More nodding on Snake's end as Duncan talks about himself and his dojo and the like. The ninja keeps his phone quiet for the time being as he looks over the interior of the room. Once he's done looking around he gets to work on the phone once more, "It would be cool to have a dojo, but I no longer have normal command presence. Now it is small groups or one on one."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:

"Somehow I get the feeling whether you can talk or not won't be an issue." he suggests. Walking over to a dresser, he pulls out a drawer and he takes out a large blanket and walks over to the bed.
He unrolls the blanket carefully. There are several swords in there, like he said, and most all of them are not considered up to normal standards for combat.
He lets you look at them and he comments,"Like I said, these are more for antiquities than function." He considers for a moment and adds,"I do have one...more functional, but it is not for sale. I will show it to you if you like, but I won't sell it."

Snake Eyes has posed:
Leaning over the bed Snake takes a close look at the weapons on display, eyes widening as he studies them. He doesn't touch, though, not wanting the oils on his skin to damage them. A smile appears on his face as he studies the geometry of the blades first, then their guards and hilts. A thumbs up is given to Duncan before the ninja nods his head a few times at the thought of seeing a more functional blade. His thumb slides across the screen of his phone, "I have swords I won't sell, too. Very special memories and such."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
Walking back to the drawer he takes one more out. This one appears to be an ivory handled weapon, though it is hard to be sure. The weapon shines in the light of the room. He presents the weapon's hilt first towards Snake to take it to hand,"This one is...special."

Snake Eyes has posed:
When offered the sword Snake takes it slowly, treating the weapon with reverence. That handle alone, that marks it out as something unique. Once he has his hands on the katana Snake begins to closely examine it, looking down the blade for a few seconds. With a hand on the grip of the weapon the ninja very slowly extends his arm to get a feel for the weight and balance, nodding his head in appreciation. Looking towards Duncan, the ninja turns the sword around and offers it back in a traditional Japanese fashion, bowing as he does so.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He watches you appraise the weapon and nods. The weapon is his pride and joy it would seem. Once you get done and offer the wewapon back he takes it and bows back towards you,"This was created by a master craftsmant Mashiro in 1592. It came into my possession many years ago." The weapon is beyond sharp and clearly the work of a master as he stated.

Snake Eyes has posed:
Grabbing his phone again Snake starts swiping on it, "Amazing sword! Beautiful and functional! If it was for sale I could not afford it." There's a laugh at that remark, though the man isn't really joking. "Thank you for letting me hold it. It was an honor. Handle is very unusual, normally used to traditional tsuka. Blade is beautifully folded steel. Geometry is perfect for traditional cutting techniques." A big grin stays locked on his face, "Smith was truly talented. Only ever once seen one this nice, back in Japan. With that sword in your hand and skill worthy of it you would be unstoppable."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"The Damascus has been folded to 2,048 layers." he comments and takes the weapon to lay it back where he took it from,"I am glad you like it. It is my favorite by far." He closes the drawer again,"It has actually saved my life a few times." He doesn't take that any furthur though,"The smith was considered the greatest in history by many." He closes the drawer again,"I work daily to make myself worthy of the weapon."

Snake Eyes has posed:
Snake is nodding, paying close attention to Duncan's words. When the man comments that the sword has saved his life the ninja's eyes widen in surprise. Since the other guy doesn't comment further, Snake opts to remain quiet on the subject as well. The phone comes back up in front of him, "We must meet up again soon. My swords are not nearly as beautiful, but they are practical." The phone in his hand buzzes and a message can briefly be seen. Someone named Dial-Tone has texted him the following: 'Sighted HVT. Van outside."

The ninja frowns and messes with his phone again, "Must leave. My friend is here to pick me up. I will contact you soon. Very good to meet you." Then he's headed for the door, looking like he's in a hurry.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
There is a nod and Duncan watches as Snake prepare to leave,"It was good meet you too." he agrees,"Watch yourself out there. Just call that number when you want me to come by and look at your blades."
