Lois Lane has posed:
Okay, so here she is again, following a hot story, only maybe she's in way too deep this time. Lois had follow rumours of a secret organization that was roaming the streets of New York, but keeping their identities and existence vastly hidden.

Of course, that didn't stop Lois from poking her nose where it didn't belong. And when she had followed a lead of suspicious black clad characters seen lurking in this very subway station after dark, she just HAD to track 'em down. Was it another urban legend? Or was it true, was New York really being infested by ninja-like criminals of some sort?

Her sources had led her to a particularly quiet section of the subway tunnels, at a particularly quiet time of night when the crowds had thinned considerably to make it a little unsettling to be lurking down here at night. Alone.

But naturally she just needed to know. So here she is, camera in hand, lurking about the platform, searching for anything out of the ordinary. There had been rumours of an abandonned branch of subway where such criminals were rumoured to lurk, and so she had started to head off the tracks and towards the abandonned section. Unfortunately as she neared their little hideout, she was starting to acquire a tail, or a few tails. Shadowy figures lurked nearby, and once she was down the tunnel a little ways, they cut her off, a couple from the sides, blocking her exits. All that she heard was a shift of a metal weapon of sorts, and then they had her surrounded.

"That is far enough, miss Lane!"

Volt has posed:
It's radically different, working with the police rather than avoiding them. Back in Mutant Town, Volt was a scrappy homeless folk hero who frequently had to duck the cops. Even in California, before any of this had happened to him, his relationship with the local PD was an extremely negative one. But now, as an accepted Titan and a name growing in recognition, Volt is enjoying a much more relaxed relationship with the law. It's still taking some getting used-to, but it's a welcome sort of strangeness.

Tonight, the Titans were asked to check into a recent crime scene beneath the city. Volt was the only one available, so despite his lack of experience in crime scene analysis, he accepted the task. Details were processed, a few pictures were taken for the more seasoned super-gumshoes to inspect, and hands were shaken. After the police left, Volt decided to linger and study the scene a bit longer.

Damaged tiles, blood smear, and a bullet hole on the opposite wall. The shell casing had already been taken by CSI, but it was confirmed to be a 9mm round. If he had to guess, it was a defensive shot that didn't work. But Robin would probably be able to analyze it better. Volt's checkered past put him in a number of scenes similar to this, but never from the outside looking in. There are some small tells that he can pick up on, but this is outside of his training.

The culprit - or culprits - could still be in the area, however. Volt opted to finish out his night with a stroll through the subway, periodically activating the nightvision in his visor to steal a peek into the darker reaches of a few tunnels. He was starting to think he wouldn't find anything, until he caught a scene unfolding conveniently before him.

"Maybe it isn't," he announces his presence with typical breezy confidence. "A woman has a right to choose, y'know. Get with the times."

Lois Lane has posed:
Culprits. Definitely culprits. There are maybe 6 of them total, hidden in the darkness, brandishing shiny metal melee weapons of some sort. Although a few have guns too. They look too well-trained to be the usual run of the mill thugs, but who knows?

"Fool, you should stay out of this. we're here for the woman. She does not know when to keep her mouth shut!" Four of the thugs rush towards Volt then, springing out of the shadows, moving quickly but not super humanly so. Two of them come at him from opposite directions, the flash of steel in the dim light their own give away as they rush at him with swords flashing.

Meanwhile, two of them rush at Lois with the same weapons. Two more hold back, biding their time for now. Lois grits her teeth, stepping back. She's not completely helpless even without super powers. She pulls out some pepper spray, spraying it at one of the thugs, momentarily stunning him, though the other continues to come at her with that deadly sword and her eyes widen, darting back, stumbling to the ground as he slashes at her sleeve, causing her to yelp in pain. But that could have been much worse.

Volt has posed:
Volt doesn't have a lot of time to banter just yet. When people are moving, his mind is focused on the present; threat assessments, projection range, priority targets, and timing. Some things are more reactionary than others, however. And the two assailants rushing from either side are about to experience his namesake firsthand.

Just as they reach him, weapons readied, a sheath of sparkling blue ionic energy surrounds him. The flooring is scarred from the electrical rush, but more importantly, the two attackers are likely to be caught in the brunt of the aura. Historically, most attackers tend to be launched back from the snap of energy. Some less lucky people seize in place and are stuck bearing the torrent as it wracks their nervous system - not to mention the burns from electricity by itself. How will these two fare?

Mercifully, the aura is only a burst intended to qiuckly neutralize and rebuff his attackers. His focus is on the woman ahead, who seems to adequately fend off one attacker, herself. But the other gets a little too close for comfort, requiring his immediate intervention.

En route to assume cover behind one of the platform's support pillars, he raises his right hand in the attacker's direction. A bright blue lightning bolt arcs from his palm to her assailant. Though the dosage, so to speak, would be kept at non-lethal levels, it's meant to incapacitate.

Lois Lane has posed:
"Aah!" the two men shriek as pulses of electricity rush through their bodies, momentarily stunning them. And it's enough to send them flying a good several feet, momentarily losing their weapons.

The third attacker is about to slice poor Lois to ribbons before Drake zaps him too, enough to stun him and send him flailing to the ground, shaking and writhing in electrical jolts. Ouch, that must be painful.

Lois laughs nervously, "Well gee, I wasn't expecting so many of them. thank you, whoever you...Look out!" and she attempts to shove him to the ground as the last two thugs start shooting bullets at them.

Volt has posed:
"The name's ack!"

Volt is shoved down, though he was already at least mostly behind the support pillar! Not that he faults her. Guns are freaky. Still, the derailing of his introduction gets a helpless laugh, despite the severity of the situation. He props himself up on his elbows to smile wryly at her. "Don't quote me on that. And cover your eyes for a second."

Scooting back, he lifts to his full height again, back pressed along the thick, tile-covered barrier. He unclasps a pocket of his utility belt and pinches what looks like a long, thin wire. It's rapidly unfurled in a single snapping motion, not unlike a whip, and a jolt of electricity runs down its length. In that instant, the wire lights up in a series of rapid, blinding flashes like a flashbang - minus the bang - intended to pump the brakes on the shooters.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane smirks. "Ack is it? nice to meet you, Ack. I'm Lois!" still she keeps her head down as the thugs continue to shower the place with bullets. And then he tells her to cover her eyes. "wait, what!?" but there's no time to think. She nods and does as he says, covering her eye.

Which is too bad, because she misses that really neat trick as he whips out his electric wire, sending blinding flashes of light at the men. They let out a surprised yelp, stumbling back, their shots going wildly. Well at least they're no longer aimed at the good guys.

"Phew, nice trick! Who'd you say you were again?" she peers at the thugs on the ground, they seem dazed but like they might get up at any minute. Lois snaps a few shots of them. "Too bad, was hoping to track 'em down to their hideout but it's something at least. I suppose we should probably call the cops and get out of here before they call for reinforcements. What should we do about the stunned gunmen?"

Volt has posed:
"Volt," he replies as the telltale signs of panic sound off from the other side of the pillar. That's the first time he got to use that flash filament in the field! Robin'll be happy to know it works well. But until the attackers are down, there can be no resting on laurels.

Pivoting around the cover, Volt immediately takes a knee and places his right hand against the platform floor. Electricity surges forward in a crackling blue web, covering the tile before him and, almost certainly, electrocuting the two remaining attackers on foot. "This." He doesn't need the charge to be /too/ powerful. Just enough to bring them down in a daze. He has something else to eliminate the threats completely.

And should those gunmen go down, the electrical cascade is cut off and he's rushing forward, intent on rolling them facedown and retrieving a set of ziptie handcuffs from his belt to apply to each.

Lois Lane has posed:
"Volt huh. It's a great name. Makes sense!" she smiles, seeming to keep her cool pretty well considering the situation they're in. But heck, Volt seems to know his stuff, which is good, because she cant take her chances with an amateur.

And she continues to watch in amazement as he stuns the remaining thugs, and proceeds to ziptie them. "Niice.." she's already on her phone, proceeding to call the police. "thanks for dropping by, Volt, you probably saved my life.." she sighs, "Just wish I could have got some info out of them before the cops get here but I guess that's their job. Either way it makes a great story!" she beams, just rushing with adrenaline. "Soo, you part of a superhero group or you one of those loner types?"

Volt has posed:
Volt looks back over his shoulder to the woman with a playful, boyish smile. "Is this the part where I say, 'Never fear'?"

Back to business at hand, he refocuses on the aggressors. "I used to do the loner thing," Volt notes as he rushes to the next thug - the one she'd pepper sprayed. The approach to him is somewhat more direct, leading in with a low kick for his shin intended to bring him down to the ground. Ziptie cuffs are applied thereafter. From one crook to the next, Volt darts around the scene capitalizing on their stunned state to secure them.

"I'm with the Titans now. And it's good. Good to be a part of something bigger."

At last, he raises to his full height and turns to face her directly. "I'm sticking around until the cops show. So if you wanna ask any of these jerks questions, now's the time to do it."

Though after a beat, he offers a hand forward. That pleasant smile seems a fixture on his face now. "And it's nice to meet you. Happy to be of service."

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane oohs, "Titans huh? I dont know much about them, but I'd love to do an interview with you sometime! What do you say? It would be a good way to get you into the spotlight!" she smiles as she watches him work, quite impressed at his professionalism.

"Yes, it's always nice to be a part of something larger, isn't it. It's also good to have contacts." she nods, having finished calling the cops, flipping her phone hut. "Yeah, hopefully they will be willing to share what they learned with a snoopy reporter, but most likely not.." with a sigh, she already can hear police sirens in the background getting nearer..

Volt has posed:
Volt folds his arms over his chest loosely. "I'd be happy to!," he replies. "I think it's important that people see and hear from someone they're expected to put their trust in. So I'm down."

He moves a little closer to one of the thugs and peers down at him. "Probably not. But there might be a plea deal in it for'em with the police."

And soon, as heralded by the distant sirens, a number of police officers rush to the scene. Volt waves them over and takes a sergeant aside to explain what he'd seen, while another moves to speak to Lois. Everything seems well in-hand here!

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane smiles and nods. "Good! That's great, I'll put your name down and give you a ring when we can slot you in!" she nods. "I definitely agree, transparency is important. You dont want to be running about like a masked vigilante in the night, stepping over the law like it doesn't matter, y'know?"

Annnd, there are the police! Of course, as a witness and near victim to these thugs, it's not surprising that they would stop to question Lois although undoubtedly they would not be happy to hear she went looking for trouble.

so what else is new?
