An interview with a pop star.
Date of Scene: 02 July 2020
Location: Club Evolution, Mutant Town
Synopsis: Lois interviews a famous popstar and discusses mutant issues.
Cast of Characters: Lois Lane, Rage, Cannonball

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane had called Andrea ahead of time and had arranged to meet her one quiet afternoon at Club Evo, a place she hasn't been before herself and was eager to know more about. She had reserved a quiet corner booth in the back and at this time of day, hopefully away from too many prying eyes. Lois has ordered some cheesy nachos ahead of time for them both, and a couple of cups of coffee and then patiently waited. She was going for low key so no camera man, just the two of them. Even her attire is relatively low key, a simple white blouse paired with a deep blue pencil skirt and matching heels.

Rage has posed:
As usual when it comes to interviews and negotiations, everything had to go through her legal team to set this up. There is always a list of dos and don'ts when it comes to interviewing a celebrity of her magnitude, topics to stay away from.

The doors open to reveal the popstar, along with one of her bodyguards assigned to the interview. After a brief discussion in which he heads to the bar to locate himself, she makes her way over to the back table with a bright smile on her face. Today Andrea is wearing a green haltertop and a pair of loose fitted cargo pants of a black color. Something easy and lightweight for the summer heat.

"Hello Miss Lane. It's great to see you." She says as she settles into a seat, scooting it back a bit so that she can fold one knee over the other.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane smiles, rising to her feet, nodding g to the security guard with a pleasant smile. But of course she'd bring protection, even in a place like this, perhaps especially so. "Ah, Miss Jackson, glad you could make it. Lois Lane, pleased to finally meet you!" she offers her a hand to shake, "I hope you are hungry, because I went ahead and ordered us a nacho platter. How are you doing this fine afternoon?"

Rage has posed:
Reaching out to take her hand, Andrea gives it a firm shake. "I'm doing fine. Just busy, you know how it is. Trying to get everything done at the last minute. I already ate but I can nibble on some nachos I suppose. I'll probably get yelled at by my fitness instructor if he finds out."

She straightens up in her chair, brushing some dark hair away from her eyes. "I'll admit, I'm really excited to be interviewed by you. You're a legend in the industry and I've admired your work for years. You've always had a fair and balance approach to mutant and human relationships."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie is here at the bar a bit earlier than he normally is but he had deliveries earlier. He is sitting at the bar drinking a glass of sweet ice tea, and as he sees Andrea he will offer her a nod and wave, and seeing her with another lady he knows he knows her but does not place who it is at first.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane smiles and nods, sitting down again. "Of course! You must be so excited to be releasing your latest album soon." she smiles, eyes glittering as she watches the pop star. Oh, she has so many questions.

"Thank you, Ms. Jackson, I think it's important to highlight the lives of mutants like you so that people can see they are not that different from humans when you get to the heart of it.." She takes a sip of coffee, and starts to write some notes as she speaks. This is for a column piece, easier that way than drawing attention to her with fancy lights and cameras. "You have been a huge inspiration to both humans and mutants alike! I think you are a great bridge between the two, and an example of how mutants and humans can co exist peacefully. "

Lois glances to the bar and smiles to Sam. "Ah, is he the owner of the club?"

Rage has posed:
"I wish the rest of the world felt that way, as well as our own government which stood idly by as large robots were sent to our country to murder us in cold blood in the street." Andrea says simply with a bit of an edge to her voice. "So, while I may be seen as a global icon and superstar from my music, a lot of people are willing to dismiss the fact that I'm a mutant. Take away my celebrity status, and I'm sure I would get beat up in the streets much like anyone else who has a genetic twist in their DNA that makes them just the least bit different from anyone else."

Just like a wolf, Andrea goes for the jugular in regards to this certain topic. One that she is proud and passionate about. "I think my mother's greatest fear is that one day I will die a martyr. I've been threatened before by anti-mutant groups. I've had a few instances in which my life has been at danger, and not only mine, but people I care about, people that I can't hang out with in public as much because I'm afraid they will be caught in a cross-fire." She shifts her jaw to the side, then glances off towards Sam.

"That is. Sam Guthrie. He is one of my best friends. I'm dating his younger brother, Jay, which I'm sure you've seen with me online now that our relationship has gone public."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie is the manager of the club X-Corp and Roberto DeCosta are the owner of the place, depending how deep you check. Sam seems relaxed here and will nod to the two again when he sees them looking over that way. Sam will type something on a tablet, and some of Andrea's songs will be mixed in with the current playlist.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane nods and sighs, a slight frown marring her features. "Yes, that was truly terrible and I am sorry for your kind. I plan to reach out to as many mutants as possible and discuss their daily lives so that humans can realize that we are not so different afterall..Not just celebrities but everyone else too! But this is a good place to start."

She nods slowly and sighs. "Hmm, that is a good point though. Then you feel your celebrity status shields you from horrors that other mutants face? I am sad to hear that." But it seems she is mistaken. Lois is actually surprised to hear that. "Wow, that is truly terrible! That must have been frightening for you." she does smile a bit though as Andrea speaks more of her personal life.

"Wow, yes I had heard that, he is a lucky guy. Perhaps I can meet him someday too! So do you co r to this club often?" glancing back at Sam, she nods and beckons him over. "Please, I would love to hear more about this club from both points of view!"

Rage has posed:
Furrowing her brows, Andrea nods her head. "One of the things I would change though, is how you said 'your kind'. We aren't a kind. We're people, just like you or anyone else in the world. We don't have a kind. Mutant is the same as being gay, or being black, or being Asian. We are not aliens from another planet that is inhabiting Earth." Andera says with an amused smile. "By using 'your kind', it creates a separation in the way that people view us. I think that's one of the biggest stigmas about being a mutant. If I was born pink, it doesn't make me a kind. Right?"

"I wouldn't say it shields me so much. I still get a lot of hate online, but I choose to not read it. I have been attacked by anti-human groups. Been shot at. Stabbed once. But I think that because I /am/ a celebrity, I have resources available to me that most mutants do not. I have a strong support system around me within my team, my family and my friends. But most, a majority of mutants, are all alone out there. It's why my charity, Starlight, is focused on creating mutant resource systems. I have already implemented a twenty-four hour support hotline with trained specialists in psychology, and my next current project is developing a free health clinic here in Mutant Town so that mutants have access to healthcare."

"Maybe you can meet Jay one day. He's a singer and song writer also, but he really likes to keep himself distant from my celebrity status. He really wants to make it on his own. He's insanely great though. His band plays here all the time." Tilting her head as she beckons Sam over, she gives an amused grin. "So is this interview gonna be less about my upcoming album and more about mutants?" She says with a grin.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie walks over with his tea, as he gets closer he will recognize the lady and says "Hello, Andrea, Miss Lane, a pleasure to meet you, I do hope I am not interrupting? The planet doing an article on you Andrea? I must say when Mr. Kent got a couple of the lifestyle folks to come a couple nights a year or so it did help get some of the local talent noticed."

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane blinks slowly at Andrea's comment. "Ah..My apologies Ms. Jackson. I will be more thoughtful of my language in the future." she nods, scribbling some more notes. As Sam approaches she smiles and nods to him. "Good afternoon Mr. Guthrie, I understand you are the owner of this club and the brother to Ms. Jackson here's boyfriend?"

She smiles, "Please do join us, if you're okay with it, Andrea? Indeed, I was doing an interview, hoping to get a feel for what it's like to be a famous popstar who just happens to be a mutant. Tell me, if there is one thing you would like to say to the world, one important message you could convey to humans, what would it be?"

Rage has posed:
"It's okay." Andrea says as she picks up a water that is brought over to her by a waiter. Looks like Roger, her bodyguard, is on the case, having ensured his charge is well hydrated. She takes a sip from the straw after bending it towards her.

"One thing I could say to the world that I haven't already?" She shifts her jaw a bit. "I guess .. stop feeling so threatened by us. We just want to go to work and get a paycheck and come home and watch TV like anyone else. Just because we're born different, doesn't mean we /are/ different. What makes me any different than Superman, whom you cover quite a lot, or Spiderman? Or Captain America? They all have powers that they use to make the world a better place and they are cheered as champions. But if mutants use their powers to help people, they freak out and run screaming from us instead of saying thank you. I find it hypocritical that the world will polarize one set of super powered individuals and then criminalize another for the same heroic acts."

"It definitely makes mutants hesitant to use their powers for good. For example, let's say someone is born with super strength and that's it. They pass for normal. They save someone by lifting a car off them after an accident. But then the person they saved freaks out and pulls a gun and shoots them dead in the street just because they're a mutant. That is our reality. But Superman? He'd get a hug and a high five and asking for a selfie, followed by an interview with 'the' Lois Lane which circulates across the globe. Superman saves the day! News at 9. I wonder how many lives could have been saved, how many scientific breakthroughs could have happened, how many great things could have been accomplished if mutants were allowed to just be themselves without fear of retaliation."

Leaning forward, she takes another sip of her water.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods and pulls a chair out to have a seat, and says "Just the manager, no the owner, but I do try to look out for the place, and the people of the neighborhood." He offers "Andrea here is a good kid" Yea she he does not seem to be much older than her "She has done a lot of good for people who need a hand.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane frowns and nods to Andrea, scribbling more notes. "Yes, Hmm, that is interesting, and it is true that your genetic makeup alone does not determine your moral stature. Just like humans or meta humans , mutants can choose to be either good or evil. I'm not sure exactly why many humans have that mindset. Perhaps they simply fear the reality that you were simply born that way, perhaps that mutants are the next stage in evolution. I'm sure some humans maybe feel...Redundant by that? Like, one day humans will be replaced by mutants and those remaining will feel helpless without powers."

She shrugs, "It is one way to look at it.." she smiles at Sam, "Ah, so I've heard. Well that's nice. And are you a mutant too?"

Rage has posed:
"People are just scared of the unknown and afraid that one day, mutants may try and 'take over the world' or something and they will be powerless to stop it." Andrea says as she stirs her straw in the glass of water. "And who knows, that may very well might happen. Though I think the world has bigger threats than mutants. It's not like most mutants can stop The Hulk, or Thor, or Superman for example. The girl who is born with pink skin who can breathe underwater isn't going to be the big threat."

Giving a glance over towards Sam, she offers up a quick grin before she looks back to album. "How about we talk about the music now?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to her, and says "And there you have an important part of this Miss Lane, and honestly part of why people feel it is ok to fear us. Some of us, have no obvious tell unless we use our powers. It leads people to be able to think the age old "the mysterious person, something is wrong with them." He sighs bit and says "Ah could point out many times through out history that those who were different have been hunted and killed, or forced to wear some form of identification to make them as different, lesser, ok to be treated worse than the normal majority. Ah come from a small town in the south and to be honest most pf the people in my home town know about me, as when my powers first expressed themselves, it saved my life and that of a fellow Ah was working with. Ah am the big bad mutant that most have been exposed to back home, and all Ah did was save people. Ah would ay more back home are willing to live and let live but there are still those who fear and hate us, hate groups, who if they found out who I was, would go after my family just cause of my genetic make up, not even the rest of my family.. but there are good people out there as well. It is a thing that happens, amongst humans, mutants, metahumans, aliens, what ever. "There are good folks and bad folks, and if we let ourselves just a group by the things we see their bad folk doing, we are dismissing a whole heck of a lot of good folk.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane glances between the two of them and nods. "Yea, I suppose that is the sad reality in the end. I r one, am thankful that we have such shining examples of how good mutants can be." she nods and smiles to Andrea understandingly. This can be a touchy subject, naturally.

"Very well Andrea, let's talk about your latest album. When will it be released, and can we expect a sneak peek before then?"

Rage has posed:
Giving a grin to Sam, Andrea nods her head in understanding before she takes another long sip of her cold water. "Though I think for the interview's sake, I'd probably cut all of that out. Not unless you want people to rampage on your social media afterwards calling you a filthy mutie lover and you should kill yourself."

Now that the topic has shifted, she says, "August 1st my album will drop and it will be called Neon Dreams. This album is a lot more mature than my last two, Dangerous and Invincible. While I had my run of candy pop which was really feel good music and girl power, I want this next album to really speak through my eyes and some of the experiences I've had in the last two years. My record label gave me full creative control over this one so I'm both excited and terrified of the feedback I will receive."

"This album will give tribute to the retrowave era with heavy synth beats that mimic the 80's that paved the way for Generation X to have a voice and a rebellious attitude. It's designed to be intense, something you can really dance to, while still having an emotional response to the lyrics."

"My first single, Electricity, will be released next week on all platforms, followed by my second single called Icarus, two weeks after that. My third single is called Shadows will be released a week before the album drops."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit and looks over to Andrea, and shakes his head grinning a bit about something "Well ya almost listened." He teases a bit to this. He sips his tea, and says "We have had a bit of a sample of some of the stuff like what is going to be on it, and it is very good."

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane smiles, "Well, I wouldn't want to shine a negative angle on you either, Andrea, but either way I will be sure to show you a draft fire publishing the article. I'm sure a lot of people will be eagerly awaiting your release either way."

She scratches something out, leans back and sips more on coffee, "Wow, sounds like you e got some fresh new ideas! it's always nice working with artists who have new surprises with each new album, rather than rehashing old ideas." she peers at Sam, arching a brow, "Ooh is that so? I'd love to hear it!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over to Andrea, I think we have the music still in he cue if you want to do one of them, if not it is ok too of course, know ya aint got ya back whole crew.

Rage has posed:
"He's heard 'samples'." Andrea says with a smirk on her face. "But only one person has heard a fully released track so far. I've been keeping the tracks on a tight lid. Even my boyfriend hasn't heard it yet." She plucks a pitcher up and refills her glass with water, then takes a sip from it.

"Once the album releases, I'll be having a party here to celebrate, then I'll be off to college after a couple of east coast concerts that I have planned out. I'm going to be taking about six months from touring to focus on myself."

To Sam, she says, "If you want to play some of the samples, that's fine. He has a couple thirty second snippets of the tracks that we use for testing purposes here at the club. Make sure it sounds good. You can queue up Electricity if you want since it's going to be released next week." She slides her phone over to him after launching the track. "Just plug it in and hit play."

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane nods and grins, "Party huh? looks like this place might get full soon!" and once Sam gets the sample soundtrack set up, Lois settles back in her seat and listens, foot tapping to the beat, a soft smile in her face. "Wow, this is amazing stuff! can't wait to hear the full album! until then.." she rises to her feet, "It was a pleasure to meet you both, I hope we can talk again sometime. until then, have a great afternoon!" and with that she gathers up her items and with a smile and wave, takes her leave.
