Date of Scene: 05 July 2020
Location: St. Margaret's Church, Bushwick
Synopsis: Warpath visits Tandy to talk about life and get pizza.
Cast of Characters: Dagger, Warpath

Dagger has posed:
Evening has fell upon New York City and the old church is filled with dark. Without electricity currently running through the old building, the only source of light is Tandy's natural powers as she casts a dull glow about her as she lays sprawled out in a pew, flipping through a book. Today she's dressed in her solid white leotard like costume with the sword cut through the chest and a black windbreaker over her, along with white sneakers.

At the moment, Cloak is no where to be found and most likely is off skulking the streets and alleys in search of prey for the duo to come together later and issue their own unique form of justice. Along the far wall of the church is several backpacks and a cooler, filled with non-perishable snacks and bottles of water. Obviously, the two runaways are living it up.

As she turns a few pages in the book, she brushes some blonde hair away from her blue eyes, sighing to herself. The bible. How far is she into this book by now? Three-quarters?

Warpath has posed:
Walking into the church, Jimmy pauses and looks around. He's used to talking silently so he doesn't think about that initially. Tonight he is wearing a black sleeveless shirt, blue jeans, and light boots. Literally, at least at first, he doesn't make any noise.

Big and strong or not, maybe tangling with the surprised duo wouldn't be his first decision so he pauses at the back of the row of pews,"Tandy." he says softly, though still booming in the large room. He crosses his arms and waits to see if she responds and looks over the place one to see if Cloak reveals his position at all. High powered senses or not, if Cloak doesn't want to be found it is questionable that he will be.

Dagger has posed:
Glancing upwards, Tandy swings her legs around and sits up, then pushes to her feet. She casts her light out farther to chase the shadows away, leading a path towards him that stops at his feet. "Hey, James. Long time no see." She says as she starts over towards him, pulling her hair back and wrapping it up into a chunky pony tail with a stretchy band from her wrist.

"Out and about tonight and decided to poke your head in? It's been quiet as of late." She says as her lips press together. "Well.. quieter .. though that doesn't mean we haven't been busy."

Warpath has posed:
He watches as she draw the light to her and then out. There is a trace of a smile as she gets up and comes his way,"It's been too long." the Apache replies with a nod,"I'm sorry I've been out of reach for a while."

The considers the rest of what she says and nods,"Quieter is always good, but it never ends." he agrees. He doesn't seem too worried about Cloak since he doesn't seem to be appearing from nothing right off. If he's here, he'll make himself known,"I wanted to come by and check in on you, see how things are going."

Dagger has posed:
"Things have been fine. It just seems never ending for the most part. Another night, another group of scum to put down and remove from the streets. Getting to the heart of it is the challenging part. Baby steps." Tandy says as she gives a tug on the end of her windbreaker.

"We have another lead though, so we plan on looking into it soon. Cloak is currently tracking down our prey, so soon as he returns, I am sure we will take action." Glancing up at his tall frame, she gives him a smile. "Glad you came by though. I've missed you."

Warpath has posed:
There are a lot of things James might like about the pair. Tyrone's over protectiveness aside. The time spent with the Hellions gives him a little less morality issues than others on the team might have.

He smiles again as well, crossing his arms over his chest to stand a little more relaxed,"I've missed you as well. While I was gone, there was a time or two I could have used you and your partner's help." Strange words for the big guy, admitting he might have needed help.

Dagger has posed:
"Oh? I am sure Cloak and I would have enjoyed the chance to help out the X-Men. You guys did us a huge favor after all, so we owe you some of our time if you need it." Tandy gives her jacket a bit of a zip upwards, then slides her hands into the pockets. "You want something to drink? We have some generic cheap soda and bottled water. Nothing great."

Living on nothing, the pair have started stealing from those who hurt the innocents. A heroin dealer can easily part with their cash in pocket after all. He didn't earn it cleanly. "Got some chips .. beef jerky. Cloak doesn't eat normal food so I just pack on snacks."

Warpath has posed:
"Bottle of water would be good yes." he replies when she offers. He considers what he said before and he fills in,"I was away on some...personal business. Tracking the one who killed my tribe. He's slippery that one." he explains,"You two might have been able to see things I can't. I'm admittedly.....blind by the rage connected to that one."

He considers the food options and shakes his head finally,"Water would be enough. Thank you for the offer." He considers again, /really/ considers something and finally he asks,"I could take you for pizza if you wanted?"

Dagger has posed:
Heading over to a cooler, Tandy opens it up and takes out a bottle of water. It's warm. They don't have ice. Turning about, she hands it out to him. "I know what it's like to be blinded by rage. But rage can keep you alive, focused, motivated." She tilts her head to the side at the offer of pizza.

"Sure, I can do that. That sounds a lot better than Doritos again for the third night in a row. It's not like I can have delivery to the church. I'm just lucky enough to have a working shower in the back, even if it's cold."

Warpath has posed:
Taking the offered water bottle he nods,"Thank you." he comments softly. Warm or cold doesn't seem to phase him too much,"We both have a strong desire to kill the other, so sooner or later it will come to that."
She she agrees to the pizza he nods and asks,"You know the neighborhood better than me. Any place you would prefer or even suggest since I don't really know the haunts around here as well.

Dagger has posed:
"Sure, there is a place called Gio's down the street." Tandy says as she starts for the door after picking her wallet off a pew and tucking it into her jacket pocket. Scribbling a note and leaving it on the 'message board' for Cloak, he'll at least know where she's at if he comes back early.

"I like it. It's cheap and the pizza is decent." Making her way to one of the side exits, she nudges the door open and steps out into the alley filled with clutter.

Warpath has posed:
"Gio's it is." he replies. Once she gets done with the note and starts towards the door he follows after her. Out in the alley way he gives it a once over and falls in step next to her to walk towards the location she selected,"Your partner won't be too off put by you stepping out with his scowling opponent?"

Dagger has posed:
"No. Cloak doesn't care what I do. He knows I can take care of myself. He's just protective since the two of us are bound by more than circumstance. Without me, his powers will consume him. Without him, my powers will burn me up. So, my survival ensures his sanity I suppose you can say. But, we have gone through a lot together over the last couple of years." Tandy glances up at him with a grin. "You think you're his opponent? How come?"

Warpath has posed:
There is a shake of his head and his face shows a little amusement,"He just seemed a bit...protective when we met before." he comments,"A lot of glaring so I scowl back." He doesn't really do territorial or such thing, particularly since he doesn't have any here.

"I get partnership though. If you two share a symbiotic relationship then it's understandable if he's protective." It's funny, the less than talkative one seems a little at ease talking with you.

Dagger has posed:
"After what we've gone through, it's hard for him to trust anyone. We were stolen from the streets, injected with synthetic heroin that turned us into these monsters. It stripped us to the core of who we are as people, tore us down until there was nothing left. Sometimes it's hard to imagine that we even have souls." Tandy says honestly as her shoulders shrug upwards. "Working with the X-Men though has been great .. at least for me. I don't think he could care less. I just am happy to feel like I belong again. Somewhere."

Warpath has posed:
"I wish I had been around more to have worked with you two." he admits and turns his head to the right a little, his hearing catching something, but then letting it go. Whatever it was doesn't concern him.

"There's always next time." he continues. Consideration of the soul comment and he raises a brow,"There were those in my tribe that were able to see into the spirit world. I barely had any training there."

Dagger has posed:
Tracking the movement of his head, Tandy's eyes subtly glance over as well for a moment before she looks straight ahead as they walk down the street. "There is always a next time. We don't know anything about spirits though. Cloak's body leads to a darker dimension of sorts, where it's nothing but the never ending emptiness of black and cold. You find your deepest fears within him. It drives you mad."

Once they cross the street to Gio's, the small pizzeria is lit up in a worn, dull red neon light that flickers and buzzes. There is no other customers inside as the bell jingles upon the door opening. Lifting her hand, she waves to the young man behind the counter that she recognizes.

Warpath has posed:
He listens to what you say about Cloak's dark dimension thing. He holds the door open long enough for you to go in and follows after,"I failed to follow the spirit path when I should have. What is it the students say? The ship has sailed."

Once inside he lets you take the lead on where to go and the like. You know the place so he trusts your judgement on the food as well. Quietly he mutters next to you,"The neighborhood have any hate for you or Cloak or are they just really curious?" He doesn't look back, but doesn't need to for him to know that there were people out there and still are.

Dagger has posed:
"Those who look to hurt the innocents truly despise us. The rest of the neighborhood doesn't even know we exist outside of some page eight blurb about demons and angels." Tandy steps up to the cashier, zipping her jacket up a bit higher to hide the cut out cross along her chest. Eyes up here young man. "Plain cheese." She says as she takes her wallet out to rustle through some singles.

"And I don't think any ship has truly sailed, not until you are dead in the ground. Perhaps when we get back 'home' I can help restore some of your faith."

Warpath has posed:
Taking out his wallet, Jimmy hands the man a black credit card,"I invited you remember?" he comments when she starts digging for money. He smirks a little at the guy trying to get a peek. That smirk is...less than friendly for him. No threats, just a look.
He turns his attention towards you again,"Well. It might not have sailed, but it is threatening the to leave the dock." He considers the words a moment longer and nods,"Should we take this to go or would you rather eat it here?"

Dagger has posed:
"We can take it to go." Tandy says as she puts her wallet back into her jacket. If the man's eyes are roaming, she doesn't seem to mind, or give it much attention. She is used to it by now. A beautiful angel, built like a dancer. Once the card is swiped and returned, she makes her way over to a booth near the door and sinks down into it. She is almost boneless in how she moves. Tired. She most likely does not get a lot of sleep during the day before their hunts.

"I can use my light to look at someone's hopes, bring them to the surface. Sometimes I use it when I am trying to help someone detox from the poisons they have allowed in their veins. I can try with you if you want. Help give you some motivation, give you a reminder."

Warpath has posed:
Following her back to the booth he settles across from her once she is seated. Close to the door is good. He listens to you curiously and admits,"Well. Mostly it's a matter of time." he comments,"Between teaching, training, and then...extra curricular things who has time?"

He does seem curious though. What she is talking about does sound interesting none the less,"So when they call you an angel in the newspapers it isn't that far off. Inspiration and protection." For his part, Jimmy tends to struggle with the small talk stuff a little.

Dagger has posed:
"It's not the kind of angel they are talking about. An angel of vengence. One without mercy." Tandy admits softly. "I may appear as one. Glowing bright like a star. Dressed in white. But what happens afterwards is something they wish they never took part in." Tandy brushes one hand over the other as she rubs at her knuckles. She has some light scarring along her hands and arms. Souveniers from her tussles in the streets.

"But, I hope one day you find peace. I can understand your drive and desire to see your pain through to the end."

Warpath has posed:

"Archangel." he mutters softly,"Warrior angel. I get it. There was some talk about such things when I was growing up." Looking at her hands as they move he studies the scarring. The warrior in him is curious enough to almost reach out to touch her hand, but thinks better of it before his hand does more than twitch a little.

He looks down at his own hands thoughtfully,"Someday peace will find me I suppose." he comments softly,"Once my tribe has been avenged, maybe I'll be able to rest and just concentrate on my own life. Stay with the X-Men. Go to my farms. I don't know."

Dagger has posed:
Giving a nod of her head, Tandy's lips twitch a bit. "Jesus would be so upset with me." She smirks somewhat in her own amusement before she glances back up at him. "I used to believe in God when I was younger. Not that my family was very religious but I assume I used to pray quite a bit for my parents to pay attention to me. Famous mother who spent more time in the beds of her directors and my father took off to travel the world when I was young."

"And look where my prayers got me." There's a low laugh from the girl's throat. "Anyways, enough of that doom and gloom. Tell me something happy. What has made you smile lately?"

Warpath has posed:
"The Great Spirit does his work." Jimmy finally manages,"As for Jesus I was always told he was the forgiving one." He shrugs and admits,"Not that I know much about it myself. I still believe, but I don't practice very well."

He shrugs as he admits,"I guess prayers take us where we are needed. Not where we want to go." Not too bad for a history teacher with no real "Christian" affiliations to speak of. He considers her words and hmms,"What made me smile recently? It's been a while." He considers again and shakes his head,"Aside from at the church when I saw you." Yeah. He said that. It's out there. You can tell he didn't think it through, but he doesn't seem terribly regretful either. Just a little off guard for a change. Rare occurence for him.

Dagger has posed:
"To where we're needed, huh? I don't know about that." Tandy says softly with a sigh. "I wish that I could have had a hero that night. Someone for Cloak and I to save us from those monsters." Though the next statement causes her eyes to widen a bit, brows lifting.

"Psh. That was kinda smooth, James. Thanks for making me grin." She says as he glances up at him, propping her chin in the palm of her hand. "So, what about before that?"

Warpath has posed:
A soft laugh and he looks down. Good thing you can't really tell if he's red faced or not. Once he gets his thoughts back in place he looks back to her,"You asked. I answered." He goes thoughtful for a moment and says,"Aside from that. I was back in my tribal homeland not long ago." He rests his arms on the table and considers you again,"What about you? When was your last time? Like you said. Tell me something happy."

Dagger has posed:
Thinking for a moment, Tandy shrugs her shoulders. "Cloak and I saw a movie the other night like normal people. We sat in the back of the theater and ate popcorn. I was able to use enough light on him to make his body become normal for a few hours. It was wonderful. I felt like a normal person and I can't even remember what we watched." Her lips press together thinly for a moment. "Just felt like a kid again."

Warpath has posed:
"I can't remember the last time I was at a movie." he admits. The pizza makes it way back to the table. Almost forgot about the pizza,"Teaching kids make me almost remember the good times I had before..." he looks at the most obvious mutation, his massive size.

"You get the idea." he comments,"I don't know a lot about psychology, but probably you and Cloak need to go do that more often. Give you something to ease the constant war in your lives." He does know what battle fatigue looks like however, so can speak to that notion.

Dagger has posed:
"Cloak and I could probably make most therapists really rich too." Tandy says with a grin. Once the pizza arrives, she rises up and gives a long stretch of her body. "But it was fun, and I think it's something we can do again sometime. Before the movie, the most fun we've had is teleport hop across multiple hotels for free room and board and hot showers until we settled here. We started to feel guilty after awhile."

Warpath has posed:
Getting up from his seat as well, he manages to not watch too close when she stretches. Nope. Not gonna do it. He rolls his shoulders a few times and considers,"Why is there no hot water in the church?" he asks finally.

He picks up the pizza and walks with you towards the door. While he did let you in first, he leads out this time. There were people following after all. He holds the door and looks over the surroundings.

"Teleportation would be useful. It would be easier than running or driving." he admits. Strange questions and commentes,"Guilt follows you doesn't it?"

Dagger has posed:
"There's no electricity either. We think the water heater is electric and since the church isn't in use, we have to work with what we got." Tandy says as she steps back out into the street, taking in a deep breath of the warm New York air. As they start back for the church, her shoulders shrug upwards. "Maybe one day someone will put some use to the church again. But until then, it's our home." The question about guilt causes her to nod her head.

"I suppose a little bit of it. Most of the last couple of years has been one of revenge. My holy crusade to right the wrongs in life. To purify and cure. But there are days where I'm now wondering if I am regretting some of my decisions."

Warpath has posed:
Walking again, he lets his senses reach out so nobody can sneak up on them,"Hot water is a luxury I guess." he finally manages. Growing up on reservations and even in tents he gets that,"I've had times we didn't have running hot water, you get used to it after a time." He continues to walk and turns his head to the side again. Just a little.

"We all make decisions that we aren't always proud of." he comments,"Do things we regret." He looks down towards you and smirks a little,"Even me." The students would be thinking that so no reason to think you wouldn't,"There's no sense in regretting it. You can't change the past."
