Cast of Characters: 170, Cable, 34, 757

Eva (170) has posed:
Since she got her new suit, Eva has been a little busy. She's been out racing around the city, the country, Heck She's even run round the world in a matter of a few hours! Its been fun for her to get around and even engage in some heroics! Now though, She is getting hungry... again. Nothing in the world like a good old fashioned New york Hot Dog And thing more like a bunch of hot dogs! So thats what she's after!

The thunderous arrival of a silver clad speedster is largely overlooked. After all, New Yorkers have seen everything. She quickly moves to a hot dog vendor and hands over a nice chunk of change. A stack of hot dogs are given to her, easily 25 of them. She quickly darts to a bench and starts eating.

Cable has posed:
Cable isn't exactly a 'park' kind of guy. The closest he comes to talking a relaxing walk is scanning for sniper nests in the middle of warzones. But Ruth has recently become allied to his cause, her particular talent to see the future an invaluable tool in his war against Apocalypse.

And, at the moment, this particular asset wants a hot dog. Perhaps several.

He doesn't blend in the least, even dressed down to his khakis and a t-shirt. He doesn't wear obvious weapons, knowing it might set off a panic in the park. But he does carry a large, almost comically oversized, gunny sack, a cache of necessaries slung over one shoulder as he leads the blind girl over to the vendor, his metallic arm gleaming in the summer sun.

"Order," he says to her.

Jonothon Starsmore (34) has posed:
Even beyond his powers, there is another barrier between Jono and normal people, a greater one still. What could possibly be more separating than having to cover up or everyone sees fire coming out of one's face? Simple. Eating. Or rather, NOT eating, in Jono's case. He doesn't, and normal people do.

Jono is merely here to walk a bit, get out and about, listen to some music. He's got an MP3 player in his pocket, and earbuds in his ears. Mind, he can still hear what's going on around him. Cutting himself off from the world THAT much would be stupid. The wrappings that go from just under his nose to some unknown point under his t-shirt probably make him pretty noticeable to the average New Yorker. As is the fact that despite it being summer, those wrappings, his t-shirt, his jeans, and his boots, are all black.

If Eva ordering 25 hot dogs doesn't get his attention, the guy with the metal arm definitely does. He raises an eyebrow and wanders over in that direction. He looks like a pretty unassuming guy, slouched as he is, like he's hoping desperately to disappear somehow. But those with psychic senses will doubtless sense his approach; unfortunately the psychokinetic energy furnace that burns in his chest is always burning on high...

Eva (170) has posed:
The young speedster is wearing a mask. So its not like people are going to easily identify her. She does notice Ruth beside the mountain of a man that is Cable. She gives a little wave and then remembers, she doesn't exactly look like her normal self right now. So she devours a hot dog and looks around the park.

Her gaze falls on a guy who is actually trying to steal a purse. She's quickly on her feet and over towards the would be theif. A quick punch knocks the guy down and the purse is returned to its owner. Then its back to her hot dogs.

Ruth Aldine (757) has posed:
"Make me three with everything. Please. Thank you." Ruth said. In fact, it was a line that Ruth practiced the entire night, and most of the morning to herself in her mind. Make me three. With everything.

Those words carried a sense of foreboding, considering her episode just that morning. Just that morning where she stood in place in the train substation for a few hours until midnight came.. when she finally woke up and sat down.

Make me three.

With everything.

"Make me three.. wi.. wi.." It starts as a minor chill, then a soft tickle upon the back of her neck. Then the slight tickle which could resemble tingling in her ear. Then the sharp pain. Then the low rumbling sound of.. chewing.. chewing that causes her to 'stare' out into space, her hands fallen to her sides, body lightly swaying.

Completely stuck.

Cable has posed:
Cable senses Jono's approach, finding it a bit distracting, even with the masked girl right there. As strange as the wasteland world in which he rose might have been, it seemed to him, often, that this world was far stranger.

He doesn't care about purse snatchers, so long as the thief stays away from his sack of goodies. Any attempt to lay fingers on that will lead to the removal of a hand.

Getting Ruth out of her fugue was the mission at hand, though. He squeezes her shoulder, "Eat,' he says, his glowing eye and scarred visage plenty of encouragement for the vendor to fill her order quickly.

Jonothon Starsmore (34) has posed:
On the bright side, Jono doesn't seem to be about to interfere with anything. He doesn't recognize Eva with her mask, and he doesn't know Cable or Ruth. So... well, aside from leaning against a tree and fiddling with his MP3 player, there isn't a whole lot going on. It's just odd to see a girl eating that much food at once, and a man with a metal arm. Ruth seems more or less normal to him. Though he notices the odd behavior of the girl with the metal-armed guy, and frowns a little. He doesn't approach; she seems to have a caretaker already, and he doesn't want to look like a busybody.

Ruth Aldine (757) has posed:
"Loud." Is all Ruth says once the hand squeezes her shoulder. She slowly reaches out, her hands shaking just a touch to grab the first two hotdogs, content to bundle the mess against her shirt (while making one), and reaching for the other. "Thank you."

Loud. The man who was possibly to her left was loud. Eva, speeding about, was loud. At least that one was one 'loudness' that she was somewhat used to. "They're all loud.."

Eva (170) has posed:
Eva hmms "What to do?" She takes a long sip of her drink. Quickly she takes off and changes out of her suit. "Ahh Signing off for the day." She doesn't really think about the fact that she's now in her normal clothes and eating that stack of hot dogs but, she doesn't really care either. "Man, I never thought I'd be like this. Its so cool!" She talkes to herself.

Cable has posed:
Ruth may not have a gaze to direct attention, but Cable's become resonant enough with the young prophetess to get a sense of her psychic 'attention' and its direction. "I know," he says. "You have to try and shield yourself. I can help," he says.

He generates his own psychic energy, something he does not do thoughtlessly. He does not waste energy. Psionically, he projects at Jono, keeping Ruth in the loop. Eva, for the moment, he leaves out of it, although he nudges Ruth in her direction, more or less telling her to address the girl while Cable deals with the psionic firebomb in their midst.

//The girl is sensitive. Try and tamp it down.// he thinks at Starsmore.

Jonothon Starsmore (34) has posed:
NOW he recognizes Eva. Though he at least can be trusted with her identity, so there's that. Hopefully the rest of the people in the park will be able to keep it. Nonetheless, he offers a wave to Eva as she reappears with the rest of those hot dogs. He knows her, yeah. No sense not being polite, right?

Jono never thought he'd be startled by a psionic contact, but he is when Cable 'thinks at him. He jumps a bit, and looks around a moment. Shouldn't take long to find the source of it. He does have the grace to look sheepish, though. {{...Sorry. I can't turn it off. Wish I could.}}

The words are heavily accented with a British accent. But the weird thing is, those words are telepathic... but it's otherwise just like the teenager spoke. It's broadcast, like a signal. And anyone in 'hearing' range can hear it, regardless of being telepathic themselves or not...

Ruth Aldine (757) has posed:
With the hotdogs bunched in her hand and against her chest, along with the two men bunched within her brain.. Ruth was directed in the direction of Eva with a firm hand and a guided push. Her brows were furrowing, nearly disappearing beneath the blindfold that she wears, her steps stumbling just a touch as she tries to get a handle on their 'brain game'.

"Eva. Hi. Hello!" She calls out, mashing her food even moreso as she approaches. "Hi. Why are you crying?"

Eva (170) has posed:
Eva smiles softly and slides her stuff out of the way, "Hey Ruth. Good to see you. Have a seat! That way you can set your hot dogs down and not worry about smashing them." She grins happily. A quick wave is given to Jono as she grabs another hot dog and chomps it down. "I'm not crying. Not sad in the least. At least I don't think I am. " She looks at her curiously, "If you are psychic you may not want to skim too deep in my mind. Too dangerous."

Cable has posed:
Cable pinches the bridge of his nose and nods. He presses out his own mind, then, creating a psychic filter to shield at least some of Jono's energy from Ruth, helping to clear her head and making it so it doesn't batter her as much. It requires him to block less himself but he can take it. Even if he couldn't, he'd do it anyway.

"A lack of ability or a lack of training?" he says aloud, since Starsmore's 'broadcast' can be heard more generally. No need to waste more of his power for discretion's sake.

Jonothon Starsmore (34) has posed:
Jono acknowledges Eva's return wave with a nod, though he does need to answer Cable. He'll get a little nearer, so he can 'speak' more quietly. {{Ability, I'm pretty sure,}} he answers. He looks rather ashamed of himself, to be honest. {{Sorry, I didn't...}} Pause. And then he offers quietly, the mental words colored by more than a little shame, and quite a bit of upset, {{I could go if yer think it's best.}}

Ruth Aldine (757) has posed:
As room was made, Ruth carefully bends forward, dropping the hotdogs onto the slats of the bench before she settles right next to it. Her hands rub against her shirt, smearing the various sauces into it before she starts in with the first hotdog..

And just in time, Cable was already shielding her just a little from Jono's powers.

"Mm.. no? Sorry." She says in between bites. "Must be next year then."

It was a little trying, attempting to listen to two conversations at once, though she focuses a bit more on Eva as she shifts just a bit to face her. "Why? Sorry." She would blink, if she could, but the look of curiosity was written across her face. "Can't help it. Sorry."

Eva (170) has posed:
Eva smiles and frowns a little. "Remember when I talked about what I teach? Well those things that I teach about are things I've encountered first hand. I get lots of nightmares from the things I've dealt with. My life up until recently is very bloody. I wouldn't want anyone to have to see those things." She grabs another of her own dogs and chomps on it.

"So What brings you out today Ruth?" She then pauses, "Wait... Next year?! Why would I be crying next year? Heck I don't cry hardly ever."

Cable has posed:
Cable shakes his head at Jono, "No. Just making sure I know the lay of the land. Our kind shouldn't run away from each other. We get enough of that from the rest of the world," he says.

He watches Ruth's odd interaction and shakes his head in bemusement.

Jonothon Starsmore (34) has posed:
That... actually seems to make Jono relax a bit. Though whether it's the permission to stay or the comment of 'our kind' (which the guy with the metal arm sort of outed himself as a mutant... or at least not normal) is anybody's guess. But at least he's relaxes a little.

Still, he nods. {{Yer got a point,}} he agrees. Motioning to his face, he adds, {{S'why I keep meself wrapped up. It's... a mess otherwise.}}

Ruth Aldine (757) has posed:
"So?" Ruth says, her shoulders shrugging lightly. What Eva has seen, Ruth has possibly seen worse. Or maybe the same. Suffering couldn't possibly be measured. But what brought her out today..

"Food." The mashed hotdog was lifted, sniffed, bitten into again, a pepper falling upon her lap and then the ground which was hissed at quietly. "Sorry."

But next year? It could have been. Maybe it was last year? Maybe it was three years ago? Two years later?

"I don't know. Sorry. Maybe. Probably soon. Maybe.." And oddly enough? It was just no big deal. "I wish I could cry."

Eva (170) has posed:
Eva frowns hearing that. She focuses, making sure she doesn't accelerate anyone as she gently reaches over and puts her hand on Ruth's shoulder. "Listen to me, Even without tears, you can still experience sadness, It still comes out out. It can't be easy for you. I can't begin to imagine what its like for you. Still, if you ever need to talk I'll listen." She smiles a little and gives her shoulder a squeeze.

"As for my memories, They begin and end with blood. Its not something fun. I used to hunt monsters after all. Its not exactly a good thing. But I guess it made me the person I am. Plus I wouldn't be wanting to go out and save lives if I didn't live that life.

Cable has posed:
Cable nods, "Probably wise. Humans are prone to panicking. Skittish,' he says. He quirks an eyebrow at Eva's last claim, turning his attention more to her discussion with Ruth, "Time can be a complicated thing around Ruth," he says. And around himself, although he doesn't add that particular tidbit.

"What kind of monsters?"

Jonothon Starsmore (34) has posed:
Jono nods at Cable's observation. Lack of understanding leading to fear, fear leading to hate, et cetera. But he doesn't comment further. He moves to lean against a nearby tree, though nearer than the one he'd been leaning against before. He doesn't know much about Eva's past, really. He doesn't ask probing questions. But that doesn't mean he's not curious. Hence why he's staying to listen.

Ruth Aldine (757) has posed:
There was a little flinch as Eva touches her shoulder, her lips puckering out briefly.. her shoulders slumping soon after. "I know. I just don't have eyeballs. Sorry." It was blunt, and the truth. The poor girl just doesn't blink!

She.
Doesn't.
Blink!

And yet, as the conversation takes a turn towards Eva's past, Ruth slowly slides away her food, using it as a barrier between her and the speedster for no other reason than to take an impromptu nap. Story time. It's calming. Even if it's all about death and bloodshed, she'd be dreaming it soon.

Eva (170) has posed:
Eva looks up to Cable and takes a deep breath, "Ummm all sorts. Vampires, Werewolves, Ghosts. The usual things that go bump in the night. Thats what I hunt, err used to hunt." The look in her eyes is one Cable would likely recognize. She's young but she's seen some stuff in a combat style setting."

She gives a little smile, "It would seem so." She states in regards to Ruth's timey whimeyness.
