When the drive home goes....
Date of Scene: 10 July 2020
Location: St. Margaret's Church, Bushwick
Synopsis: Jimmy decided to help Tandy get a solar powered hot water heater so she can get a hot shower. They put it together.
Cast of Characters: Warpath, Dagger

Warpath has posed:
It doesn't take too long to get things from the hardware store and driving back again. It's a short list of parts to finish the water heater,"This should be done tonight. It will have to draw heat tomorrow, but by tomorrow night you should have hot water."

He glances towards the rearview thoughtfully, but keeps driving. Oddly enough, he turns before he should and grunts softly at something in the mirror,"So any excitement for you last night?"

Dagger has posed:
Giving a shake of her head, Tandy says, "No, decided not to go out. I just wasn't feeling it." She says with a furrow of her brow, running a hand back through her blonde hair for a moment in thought. "Cloak came home late and already 'fed' himself so to speak. He was still a bit grumbly so we just had a chill night of listening to music and reading some books."

"Maybe tonight we'll go out on a patrol and hunt. I can't do it every single day. It tires the heck out of me." She admits as she rubs her hands together. "It just wears me down."

Warpath has posed:
"You mean you aren't a machine?" he attempts at a quip. He's getting a little better at such things since the first time you met all the way back when. He takes another odd turn, this time back towards the Cathedral and a scowl starts to crease his face deeper. It's not that he's sunshine and roses any other time, just really starting to get annoyed.

Looking around the area ahead of the truck he sighs softly,"So I wonder. How many enemies do you have that might take interest in a passing vehicle with you in it?" Always so to the point isn't he?

Dagger has posed:
"No, but sometimes I wonder if Cloak wishes I was. A machine that is. He's so determined." Tandy says with a sigh as she leans her forehead against the window. "We got into it the other day, yelling at each other about this mission of ours. He's not happy with the fact I told him I'd trade my powers away so that I can be a normal person once more. I'd do anything to go back to my old life. He thinks I'm selfish and that our powers were given to us for a reason, to help and protect others."

There is a thin line pressed against her lips. "That may be true. I guess. Maybe I am selfish." His next question causes her to curiously glance up. "I don't know.. not many know us for who we are. We always strike from the shadows and we strike fast, blinding them with light and with shadow."

Warpath has posed:
"He has a plan. He wants to see it through." Jimmy comments and looks in the rear view again. There is a shake of his head and he admits,"There were times I would have been glad to not have my powers either. I get it. I would have been glad to try and keep my family lineage alive rather than be....this."

He almost let in some back story there. Almost,"As for selfish, sometimes it's understandable." He narrows his gaze and a soft rumbling growl escapes his throat,"That probably makes things worse."

Dagger has posed:
"He's right though. We are bond together by fate. Without me, he will die and without him, I will burn up. I am just as dedicated to the cause, it's just that I've been so tired over the last couple of months. It's emotionally draining as well, seeing all those hurt children and people who are killing themselves strung out on heroin."

Tandy watches the world tick by them out the window, then glances back over towards him. "I'm just having a pity party for one, mostly. He has it worse than me. He can't even touch people. Can't eat food. He's practically a shadow of frozen hell that creates people's worse fears. I am complaining like a baby when this mission of his is the only thing that makes him feel alive."

Warpath has posed:
"You might be bound together, but sometimes even the best marriages need away time." he mutters. Turning the truck towards the church again the one following turns as well. A deep breath and exhale and he offers,"Seeing kids hurt is difficult." he agrees, a musing that takes his mind off the following vehicle.

Dagger has posed:
"Yeah, it's the only reason why I even do this. For the kids. Junkies can help themselves if they wanted, they just choose not to and I feel at times it's a waste of my powers to do so." Tandy climbs out and heads for the church, nudging it open before heading inside. She gives a whip of her hand, sending out a ball of light so that it floats next to her to light the path and way. "And this war is never ending. The war against trafficing of children. I could fight every day this year and not make so much as a dent."

Warpath has posed:
He watches the vehicle that drives by, looking anywhere other than at the two of you,"That was the only real reason I started teaching at Xavier's. To help the kids and watch over them." Once the door is shut he listens for a brief moment longer to make sure vehicle drives by.

He looks at the light you generate with a smirk at it. Listening to the call of the war he nods,"I've seen many children die. Both in the war on mutants and against my own tribe."

Dagger has posed:
"I'm not ever going to get used to watching kids die. Okay, where do we start at?" Tandy asks curiously as she looks over towards the man with the large box of stuff. "This is your project. I'm just here to hand you hammers and nails when you ask for them." She taps the glowing ball next to her, sending it swimming around her in a few circles.

Warpath has posed:
"If you did, you'd be sick." he mutters and walks up to where he placed the water heater and starts rummaging though the bag and the tools. He hands you three pieces and reaches over the heater to start connecting the lines.

He starts to turn something that is stuck initially, but moves without much effort. He is good to have around now than then. He frowns and turns his ear towards the church again and then moves back to it,"Hand me the first piece I gave you." he comments.

Dagger has posed:
Handing over whatever he asks for, Tandy shuffles closer to watch him work as she leans against the wall. "Good thing you know this stuff. I wouldn't even know where to start outside of Googling it and even then I'd be confused." She nudges some of the tools closer to him as well. "So, James, how come you don't have yourself a nice piece of arm candy dangling off you yet?"

Warpath has posed:
He starts working and shrugs,"I'm not that handy. I used to take care of things at the reservation. I learned by a similar approach to Googling everything. I finally made enough to start hiring people to do this for the most part."

The question about the arm candy gets a snort and he holds his hand back,"Second piece." He doesn't avoid the question though, just working,"I live in a school. The females there are mostly considered a felony." Sometimes he's a little too matter of fact.

Dagger has posed:
"Yeah, but I'm sure you have peers amongst the X-Men." Tandy rolls her eyes upwards as she pushes to her feet. "You have a full team of obviously good looking women that have super powers and skin tight costumes." She calls over to him with a laugh. "Surely you can find at least someone to turn your head amongst them.

Warpath has posed:
"There are yes." he agrees. Turning another fitting in place he nods towards the bag and comments,"There is some coiled copper tubing in there I need it."

Give him some credit, he doesn't try to avoid that question either,"Most are spoken for and others aren't sure what to think about me." he continues,"You may find this surprising...." he glance back towards you,"...I'm not exactly the warmest of most gifted of speakers."

Dagger has posed:
"I don't think that matters to most girls these days. I think we'd rather you just shut up and look pretty. Lift heavy things." Tandy says coyly to him as she gives a bit of a leap forward, legs stretched out, followed by landing on her toes and giving a quick triple spin as she hikes her ankle upwards. "But you can also give them the chance to get to know you also. If they don't know what to make of you, it means you aren't showing them exactly what you're made of. It goes both ways."

Warpath has posed:
He watches how you move and smirks a little, impressed by how light on the feet you are. It's clear he likes what he see. He reaches behind the heater, still listening and watching. He pauses and slips his hands under his jacket and produces to wicked looking knives, laying them aside.

He reaches back and sets the heater on line and he nods at something standing up,"I could point out most of them don't tend to want to open up to me a lot either." He gets the rest of the parts and tools and adds,"Two more fitting and the copper line. You'll be showering in hot water again."
