Cast of Characters: Cannonball, Nightingale

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie has set up a cast iron pot out near he lake, having a few lines in the water doing a bit of shore fishing. He is near the BBQ grill with a set up for the fish fry.

Nightingale has posed:
A small boat is just coming in to shore, with a familiar winged teen on board. And she's not coming in empty-handed, either. As Shannon gets out and pulls the boat ashore, she reaches in to pull up a decent string of fish. Maybe not the greatest number of fish, but they look like good ones of a decent size for the fish fry. She also pulls out a tote bag that looks to be rather full. "Hey big brother," she calls out, trotting on over with her bounty. "Been looking forward to this! Need a hand?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles a bit and says "If you want to help sure." He smiles and pulls out a cordless drill and hooks up an electric fish scaler to it, and starts going at the fish to get them ready for the ready for the rest of the process. "You want to do the knife work?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and flexes her fingers, setting her string of fish next to Sam to be scaled with the rest. "You want 'em filleted, or butterflied? Oh, got the fixings for some hush puppies, too." She grins and lifts her chin up a notch in Sam's direction. "What can I say, you taught me good."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles a bit and says "Bring you up farther north, and teach you to be southern. " He chuckles a bit and says to her "Cool, got fries in the freezer and slaw in the fridge for when we are ready to eat.

Nightingale has posed:
"Awwww yeah, now we're talkin'!" There's a very loud grumble in the winged teen's general direction, which not even cleaning and filleting the fish can silence. It's a messy job but someone has to do it! "Simple pleasures are the best," she says. "And it doesn't get much better than a fish fry from your own catch."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and ended up with a few catfish to add to the fry last night." He grins at her, and asks "Need a sandwich to tide you over Miss Wings?" He teases her a bit, and with the electric scaler he makes pretty quick work.

Nightingale has posed:
A tell-tale rumble in Shannon's direction answers the question of a sandwich, to the tune of a very sheepish grin. She's setting the offal to one side, while what is left over after the fillets are removed from the fish are set in a container to be saved and brought back. "Good for making fish stock for chowder," she explains. "Whatcha got for sammiches?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Got a couple bologna and cheese, and some ham and cheeses." He will open it and offer her one of each and yes another root beer.

Nightingale has posed:
With the last of the fish from her string scaled, cleaned and fileted, Shannon washes her hands off in the lake, finishing off with a bit of hand sanitizer from her little brown bag. "So besides fishing, whatcha been up to?" she asks, as she reaches for the sandwiches and the root beer.

     Simple pleasures, indeed!

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over "Played a bit of poker the other day with Alice, went out and found a neat gift for Alexis but aint had the right time to give it to her yet.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon growls a bit at the mention of Alice, but otherwise leaves the subject alone. "Ran into some trouble in Salem Center a week or two ago, also been picking up a bit of extra first aid training." She shrugs, and smiles a little bit. "Maybe I'll stand a decent chance of making something of my abilities after graduation and NM, with that to back me up."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over to her, and says "Well, I do believe you might, bright, stubbon, good kid." He grins at her "S what else ya been up to?"

Nightingale has posed:
"Stubborn runs in the family," she quips. "Only you got that blast field of yours to cover your backside in case being stubborn gets you in hot water." She chuckles lightly, and shrugs. "Been picking up a couple extra classes, maybe shorten the time to graduation a bit if I play my cards right." She pauses, thinking a bit. "It's kind of strange in a good way," she muses. "But all the teachers here have been feeling more like friends and family, than teachers. Just... hope someone believes in me enough like you did, so I can stay and help them out."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods and says "I got a feeling if our wanting to work here you will be welcome . You wanting to be a teacher or the school doctor?"

Nightingale has posed:
"Who says I can't be both? Mr. McCoy pulls it off, and still manages being an X-man,  plus a love life." She chuckles softly, ruffling her wings a bit as she settles down with a ham and cheese sandwich, and her root beer. "Heck, if he can do it, there's no good reason I can't pull it off, too."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods his head a bit and says "This is true, heck, I did pretty well, even, got the club, you guys and got Alexis a great girl friend. Just gotta keep working "Heck I am even doing some classes in college still

Nightingale has posed:
"Just you and he both need to stop forgetting to eat when you're in the middle of stuff!" Wrinkling her nose, Shannon laughs, and shakes her head. "Should probably take my own advice there, too."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Part of why I was smart enough to have the staff bring me food at the same time during the nights at the club. That way if I forget there is a bit more hint to.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and grins. "Good. At least you've got them keeping after ya, and now Alexis, too." The smell of the campfire smoke brings back plenty of memories. Some good, some not so good. But new ones are being made, and those make the young woman smile. "So you've got all that happening. Andrea might even be finding ways to get me a bit involved in the fashion world on top of that, even if I don't take it on full-time. I could still possibly sell my designs on commission. Fashion for mutants, by mutants. And there's always my music." She laughs, shaking her head. "You know, I think I'm probably the only person alive who can rightfully claim they sang for the Man of Steel, both dead and alive."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Oh, you had a chance to actually met him?" He smiles at her and says "Fill me in on this one?" He says as he starts to cook the fish.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins a little bit and shrugs. "You heard about his rescue and comeback, right?" She raises one hand with an even more sheepish grin. "Miss Grey would kill me for this, but I was in on that. And I did it without breaking my grounding at the time, because I didn't go alone." Cough, cough. Yeah, this was a good time for a very long swig of root beer! "Just FYI, I don't /normally/ go looking for trouble, but if any one of us was in trouble, he'd have gone to bat. So there was no way I was gonna say no. But anyhow, after that, there was a meet and greet to celebrate his return over in Metropolis. Bless Kitty's heart, she covered my tailfeathers so I could go, with a huge batch of mac 'n cheese in tow. Which went over well."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Is that along the time that Bean got in trouble for disappearing and you had to bring bear home with you?" He asks her brow raised a bit as he continues cooking."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head. "No, this was just a few months ago. Remember when I had my arm in a sling for a few days around mid-April 'cause my shoulder was a bit messed up?" She shrugs, and grins very, very sheepishly. "One of the others there biffed it pretty hard, and yeah, you can pretty well guess it wasn't my own injury I came home with." She rolls her eyes and laughs a little bit. "Bless his heart, I can sure see why Mr. Summers doesn't want me learning to ride a motorcycle from Mr. LeBeau. Holy hell, I was lucky to be able to hold on, he got me back here so fast!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit and says "Us trying to make sure you were ok who would have thought it." He tells her bringing the first set of fish out, and says "Want to go grab the slaw and the fries?

Nightingale has posed:
"Heck yeah!" Shannon's up like a flash, giggling as she sniffs the air. "Gawd, that smells good! If you wouldn't mind getting another pan ready, I'll mix up the hush puppies and we'll have those, too." With that, she's off in the air back towards the mansion, to get the slaw and fries, and see who else could bring along their appetite.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and gets the grill going to do a deep fry of the hush puppies and fries in it The big pot over the fire still for the fish He hmms and says "Interesting " When Shannon gets back "Just thinking about it, a fish fry's northern version is a boil."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon comes back with her arms full of bowls and containers of goodies, some of the salads left from the cookout still needing to be eaten. "Oh, you thinking of a clam bake? Yeah, we could do one of those before the summer's out, too. Would be soooooo good! A good old-fashioned New England clam bake!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "I saw this thing on TV last night when I got home, that guy who eats the weird stuff was in Minnesota or Wisconsin or someplace. They did a fish boil, and at the end threw kerrosine on it to get it to flare up burning the fish fat away."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon wrinkles her nose at that, as she listens while mixing up the dough for the hush puppies. "Eww. Kerosene. Are you serious? Wouldn't that be like, well... poisonous?" She shudders a little bit. "Why not take a nice wine or booze and toss that on, burn the fat off that way and not poison yourself while you're at it?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "It buns up in like a big fire ball, it aint to add flavor or anything just woosh and done." He munches a bit on one of the pieces of fish offering her a piece."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon accepts the piece of fish, nibbling on it while she keeps an eye on the hush puppies. "Oh wow. This is seriously good." The smell of fish frying and hush puppies cooking fills the air, with the crackling of flames and the sizzling of hot oil in their respective pans. "And this is the kind of stuff we're fighting for. The right for all of us, mutant and non-mutant, to be able to enjoy things like this together in peace."
