Post gang crossfire shenanigans
Date of Scene: 06 July 2020
Location: Midtown, Manhattan
Synopsis: Buffy encounters Captain America after being caught in the middle of a gang war.
Cast of Characters: Buffy Summers, Captain America

Buffy Summers has posed:
The once quiet street had exploded into an all out gang war not long ago, and when the police had finally arrived, several bodies littered the ground, although those remaining had quickly fled the scene. Buffy had been caught in the middle but had managed to hide behind a car for the majority of it.

Unfortunately she had managed to get grazed by one of the stray bullets which had hit her arm. It's a good thing she doesn't bruise easily, although it sure hurts and she draws a breath, leaning against a bullet riddled car, clutching her arm and trying to catch her breath. She had been the one to make the call and had also taken some photos of some of the gangsters, although she wasn't too keen on engaging the police. Not with her track record with Sunnydale police and all that.

Captain America has posed:
"Control, I need an ID on a license. Sending data."
The words are quiet, low across the channel given in a quick business-like tone. The call had come in not long ago and the response would have entirely been local law enforcement were it not for one particular thing. That there was word something out of the ordinary had happened or elements of a curious nature had been involved. A quick tag had been made to the SHIELD frequencies and a dispatch had been sent. The quinjet had flown across the skyline, slicing over the distance and landing some distance away as the calls were made to the different agencies there reacting to the shootout. The officers on the scene would know SHIELD agents would be reporting in. Just not exactly who was amongst them.
It was as he had been fanning out, looking for more information, trying to find all of the elements involved that he had spotted the car that had been shot up. Perhaps a little more than the others, so perhaps it played larger role. Whatever it was, it led the man in the dark blue and red as he walked, combat boots quiet as he stepped around the vehicle...
Only then to espy the fallen Slayer as she had rested there, catching her breath and focus. They likely see each other in the same instant as he steps toward her. "Miss, are you injured?" Already moving to kneel beside her.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers grits her teeth, rising to her feet. She can't stay here, she's not so good with authority figures, they always get suspicious of her propensity to show up wherever there is trouble. Plus her friends were still in one of those houses, cordoned off with police tape. If she could just sneak inside...

Then he appears, his blue and red outfit perhaps making it obvious who he is and she straightens up a little, grimacing. "Wha, me? I'm fine, just a graze.." she clutches her arm more tightly as blood glistens in her sleeve, biting her tongue from crying out. A couple of hours and it'll probably heal up just fine but. "Oh, gee, they're really calling in the big guns, huh. But I'm sure there are others that need more immediate attention.."

Hazel eyes flutter towards one of the teens wearing an orange baseball cap being zipped up in a body bag and she sighs. "I was right there, could have saved him..If only I were a second quicker, I saw the gunk didn't realize til it was too late who they were aiming at.." odd, she's pretty damn calm, considering she nearly got shot down, and more concerned about saving a stranger'a life than that she is still bleeding and requires immediate attention. As if she's used to this sort of thing..

Captain America has posed:
Perhaps it's due to the time he grew up in, or perhaps it's due to him perceiving that injury, the blood, and her desire to avoid medical attention that he steps in and if she doesn't stop him with a properly quick answer, well he'll lift her up into his arms with an ease of motion that might be surprising.
"If it's all the same to you, miss." He smiles a little, blue eyes meeting her gaze from under the helmet portion of his uniform. "We'll leave it to the professionals to decide who needs help and who doesn't."
And with that he'll try and carry her toward one of the medevac vehicles even as he lifts his chin and calls out toward them. "I've got one that needs attention." Though it won't be long before he brings her toward them.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers blinks in surprise and she most certainly does not appreciated being picked up. "Hey, wait a second! what are you doing?" she could probably have countered that, thrown him against the car, or just slipped out of his grasp but there are too many people around now to make a scene and she just groans and rolls her eyes.

The medic quickly takes a look at her and pulls up her sleeve to dress her wound. "You're lucky, it's just a graze, no broken bones or deep wounds." the lady paramedic who treats her has a friendly smile as she disinfects and dresses the wound, glancing back at Cap with a concerned frown, "This shouldn't take long if you want to ask her questions, she's lucky she didn't get killed."

Buffy just sighs, keeping quiet as the paramedic checks her other vitals and once her wound is all wrapped up she jumps to her feet again, anxious to get out of here. "I'll be fine, I need to check on my friends. I was leaving a study session at their house when the fight broke out.."

Captain America has posed:
"Just take it easy for now," Cap says quietly, holding up one gauntlet as if to stay that impulse she assuredly has to run off and get to her task at hand. Instead he keeps her there with that steay gaze and that calm air of authority that the man just seems to exhibit without a thought to the matter at all.
"If you'd be kind enough, I'd like to hear in your own words what happened here." He turns his head, eyes distancing as he looks over the place, then looks back to her. "You're one of the few fully aware eye witnesses we've got. So let me get your part of the story."
No please is spoken there, but his tone is polite enough she might well infer it.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers narrows her eyes on him for a moment, as if she's about to challenge him...Then just shrugs, "Soo, what are you exactly, a fancy superhero pretending to be a cop, or a cop pretending to be a superhero? No offense, just figured this was something the police would take care of. And honestly, I'd rather not get caught up in the law.."

She peers around, scanning the environment, looking like she might bolt, heck, she could knock him out and deal with this in her own..But Buffy's not Faith, plus she's not exactly sure how strong Captain America is.

With a sigh and another shrug she considers her options. She'd rather not get caught up in trouble again. "What's there to say, like I said, was just stepping out of a study session with some classmates.." she nods towards a house about half a block away, behind police tape, "Any idea if they're alright? I couldn't forgive myself if I couldn't protect them either." boy, is she taking this personally.

Captain America has posed:
"My name's Steve. Steve Rogers. Some people call me Captain America when I'm out and about in the red and blue." That much he offers as he smiles a little, perhaps some small aspect of him amused when it seems like she might actually be squaring up or mentally preparing herself to take a swing at him. Nothing too obvious about her...
Just he has a talent for getting a good handle on people.
"But alright, you were stepping out of a study session with some classmates. And then what happened?" For now her question is not answered, a hand slightly lifting as if asking her to stay the course, causing that metal shield on his back to jostle slightly.

Buffy Summers has posed:
"Hi! I'm Buffy Summers, just you're average, totally ordinary college girl." oh yes, too many people underestimate the Slayer. Was it because she wasn't Amazon size, or she wasn't carrying a big gun or...? Well whatever the case, at least it helps her slip under the radar, save for those who know what to look for, who notice how she moves and carries her body with grace and hidden power, more like a well trained martial arts master than some hapless valley girl..

"Okay, but I AM gonna find out what happened to my friends, one way or another." she smiles sweetly and innocently, although there's that familiar challenge in her eyes as she speaks.

With another shrug, she thinks back and frowns, "Well let's see...I stepped out of my friend's house, started to head home. I noticed those two teens in orange baseball caps just standing on the street corner as if waiting for someone. Occasionally people would pass em by, some sort of exchange was made. I assume some sort of drug deal.."

She sighs, peering rather regrettably at the two body bags as they are hauled into a police van. "Then a car drove along, missing a license plate, all black with purple detailing..I noticed there were a lot of people in the cars, and they were carrying guns. I..Should have known they were aiming at those kids but it happened so fast. I couldn't stop em from shooting them dead, then an all out war broke out..There was an exchange of gunfire. I believe some people returned fire from that house over there.. " she points out another house on the corner.

Captain America has posed:
Briefly, for a moment, Cap lifts a hand to his ear and murmurs something under his breath, then gives a nod and Buffy will likely hear him say softly, "Roger that." Then he looks back to her and tells he with a small sympathetic smile.
"I know about that, sometimes things happen so fast you can't do anything about them." Another quick glance is taken as he surveys the surroundings and frowns a little. Perhaps at her, but more likely at something he hears on the comm freqs. Another nod is given then he tilts his head back to her. "Alright Miss Summers, if you'll do me a favor and stay back here with the authorities and if they release you please get to somewhere safe. Appreciate your help." And as he says that he'll rest a hand on her shoulder, meeting her gaze as he offers that small hint of thanks. It's brief, but she likely can sense the sincerity there.
With that said he'll unsling the shield from his back and breaks into a half-jog toward that house that she motioned at where the return fire came from. Since for him that's where the investigation leads or now.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers laughs, "You don't have to tell me that twice. I'm more experienced in these things than you know..But, I guess even humans can be a considerable threat." why, what an odd thing to say. She just smiles knowingly as she watches him head to the house.

"Somewhere safe huh. I don't think so.." with a roll of her eyes, she turns back towards her friends' house and while Steve is busy checking on that gang house, which is likely abandoned by now but still probably holds clues, she sneaks under the tape and checks on her friends who, fortunately are safe and sound but shaken up.

And once that's done she steps back behind the tape, flipping through the pictures she had taken of the gangsters right after they had opened fire..At least after they had fled. If there's a way she can get in on this now that it's personal, she could always use these pics as a bribe to get more info out of this guy, Or she could set out and do her own investigation...What to do..
