Someone unnatural in the Natural Museum
Date of Scene: 12 July 2020
Location: American Museum Nat. His.
Synopsis: A trip to the museum provides Duncan an opportunity to make a contact in some areas he isn't as well versed.
Cast of Characters: Prudence Halliwell, Duncan MacLeod

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
"I'm aware of the turnover" Prue says with icy venom in her voice. "I left you all my research and files. I hope you enjoyed copying them all over" Prue adds and folds her arms, stepping back out into the museum proper looking quietly unhappy at coming face to face with her colleagues...or former one.

Leaning on a wall, Prue grits her teeth and clenches her fists. Breathe, Prue...whoever called you in to ask for your help landed you in this...

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
Duncan wandes in here from time to time. He usually gets dirty looks, but so far he hasn't been banned from the museum. Given his age, he has an eye for things that aren't exactly what they say they are. It wasn't his fault that he noted a damascus blade that was dated as older than the actual technique is.

For once, someone else has the dirty looks instead of him. He moves along the displays. She is clearly annoyed and maybe she is the one that can make some people take better care of the place. It doesn't hurt she's easy on the eyes either. Still, he's not the staring type. He sees, he moves on.

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
Prue glances up and sighs looking over. He's headed towards exhibits. Okay fine if they want Prue's help....oh she will help. Auctionneer, appraiser, witch, and....oh, oh yes, angry pissed off ready to knock Museum employee skulls together because of slapping her metaphorically in the face, Prue.

Her heels click as she moves quickly to catch up to the new guy. She's got a speech in mind, really....the whole 'the Museum is full of people that you do not want to trust' type speech....as Prue glances over the exhibits and knows which is which....but with her eye she can identify what is what.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He slows to look at a display. He pauses to look at it and he nods as he seems to approve or at least he likes the display. He's not a total jerk, just a stickler for what is real. He crosses his arms and the sound of heels click causes him to glance towards the nearest reflective surface without looking back at her.

Old guy. Old tricks. Still, sometimes the oldest techniques work the best and he doesn't want to juset turn and stare. She probably gets enough of that as it is.

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
Prue comes to the same exhibit and gazes at it, like she's daring the exhibit to prove it's not what is said on the sign. Prue, being what she is....she knows the exhibits and what goes where. So she opens her mouth again. "You into old history?" she starts. "I could give you a tour of the museum and tell you what I....

"Miss Halliwell, what are you doing here?" Prue hears, and she snorts. "I see you didn't get fired. Was it your father donating to the museum, or sleeping with one of the curators?" Prue asks, her icy tone back. "Go on, I'm sure Matthew needs you in his office for something trivial. Do you want me to bring you coffee?" Prue asks with sugary sweetness as her former colleague flees, and Prue gives Duncan an apologetic look.

"Sorry, I used to work here as you can probably guess, and I don't really care who I piss off any more. That girl, Tina? It's all true" Prue says snidely. Apparently, Prue's taking her anger out on her former colleagues by way of hearing all the rumors....and given Prudence is only year removed from working here...Prue's pretty much up to speed on the who is doing what (and who) side of things, and all the shady juicy gossip....and Prue gives Phoebe hell for that sort of thing when really, she's not a lot better.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
As she approaches and asks him about old history he turns his head towards her and offers a smile,"Old history? You could say that." he tells her,"A tour would be nice, but there's no reason to put yourself out."

When he hears the voice of the employee he grimaces a little, looking that way. Oh yes, unpleasant working partners. The best part of owning your own gallery. He waits quietly for Prue to take the trouble maker down and once she flees he turns his attention back to Prue again.

"Miss Halliwell. As I was saying I would enjoy a tour, but it doesn't sound like your job to put up with me either." He says this with a friendly smile as he adds,"I would enjoy the company of course."

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
"I've got nothing going on today so why not" Prue smiles, "Come along then, where would you like to start?" Prue nods. "You own your gallery. I run the show pretty much at Bucklands, you may have heard of us" Prue adds and steps back to give Duncan room to move. She nods and smiles....not quite the mean girl smile. More like okay,Prue is more relaxed now she's not being reminded of her past. Stepping back once more, Prue looks pleased at the idea of being useful.

Oh and not forgetting putting the museum to rights when it is needed. Like....mmm...now

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"You talked me into it." Duncan comments and starts to walk with her to look at the museum. He considers the where to start and shrugs,"I have a tendency to wander wherever, but we can start over at that display if you like." He points at one and continues,"I'm Duncan. Duncan MacLeod."

Taking a card from his pocket he hands it to her. The galley is called Noel and MacLeod and there is a contact number for him on it,"I have heard of Bucklands yes. I haven't made my way there, but it is on the list of places to see before I go back to Canada." He pauses at a display and looks it over thoughtfully, nodding at something and shaking his head at something else.

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
Prue nods and gives the indicated exhibit a knowing look. "Ah I've heard of you yes. I'm guessing you're either the Noel or MacLeod in the name?" she asks offering a hand. "Prue. Prue Halliwell" she says, still not taking her eye off the exhibit. When she can telekintically alter the world around her....well....

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He smiles and chuckles softly,"Yes one of them. The other..." he pauses a brief moment and doesn't speak, but finally he says,"...she died." A sensitive person couldn't miss that saying that still hurts. He nods towards one of the more ceramic pieces and mutters,"Wrong technique for the time period." At least he doesn't make a hugr production, just points things out that he sees and has seen in the last 400+ years.

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
Prue nods, "I'm sorry she died" she says simplyy and turns her gaze to the ceramic. "Not only that, but look at the finer details, the detailing is from a later time period, it looks to me like it has been touched over to be reused" Prue offers and goes 'pah' at the info, "I'll spare you my lecture on how this place is, but I'm not too well liked around here" Prue says gesturing around at the exhibits. "I can identify anything from a Ming vase to a rookie Mac baseball card or rookie Halll of Famers" Prue tosses out. No big deal really....Prue looks pleased and steps over to a piece of pottery. "See this is said to be found in Russia" Prue says and peers more. "So. You run an art gallery?" Prue asks

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"Me too." he comments softly after a glance your way,"And thank you." End of the talk of the dead lover and partner. It suits him. He looks at the piece again and frowns thoughtfully, considering what you are saying and nods.

"You are very good." he comments as the catch you made,"As for my business. It is one part art gallery, but mostly it is an antiques shop." he comments on his business.

When you desctibe your pedigree he smiles, not just a smirk, but an actual smile and he comments,"Maybe I should have you up to Vancouver and have you look at a few ball cards my gallery manager has. I honestly don't know what they are worth. They are old and I recognize the names..." he shrugs. He looks at the piece again and raises his brow at the mention of it being found in Russia.

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
"Antiques?" Prue asks. Okay, see, this got intereesting real quick. "I'm sure a flight to Vancouver can be classed as a business expense" Prue offers. "Ball cards? Really. That's what you want ne to look at? I know, I'm good at a number of things work wise so why not fly me up there to look at baseball things?" Prue laughs. "See, I'll take the trip. But" she says."I've business to do in Vancouver"

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He does everything to gauge a new accquaintance and he offers another smile,"OK. So there are some old pieces that I have been trying to identify, but aside from being Native American in origin I have to admit I am in a blind spot. There is another piece that I have even less understanding of. It seems to be some sort of pagan statue, a deity or a demi-god I am not familiar with." Coming from him that must mean they are very old or obscure considering he's lived among the Native American nations and he's had plenty of study in world religions.

He considers you for a moment and he adds,"My business here is concluded aside from the trip to Bucklands. How much time will you need before you can fly up? I'll see to the ticket, car, and lodging so you can take care of your business too. I'll pay you a consultant's fee on top of that. Does that sound acceptable?" One thing about him, he does know how to take care of those that help him.

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
"A week tops" Prue nods. "nd...deal" she says watching Duncan. "My car's outside if you want to head to Bucklands" she adds, rather not a fan of sticking around the museum any. See Prue's done good, got a trip to Canada, and got to unleash anger on former colleagues.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
How many people seem to be relieved when the duo turn to make their way out of the museum? He walks with an easy stride and though he pays more attention to Prue than anything, it is clear he is mindful of the surroundings,"I'd appreciate the ride actaully. The car I rented is in the shop with some trouble and I haven't had time to get a replacement. I don't care for taxi service here either. A person could get killed in those things."
He flashes a smirk at one of the supervisors just to be difficult and then opens the door for you to leave the museum. It seems they have both done well today.
