Cast of Characters: Harry Dresden, Prudence Halliwell

Harry Dresden has posed:
It's another typical day at the office of the wizard PI Harry Dresden, which means that he is sitting at his desk with his feet kicked up and reading a paperback novel as he waits in hope that someone will come through the door with some work. Bills don't pay themselves and you can't just create money with magic you know.

The wizard sighs, closing the book and tossing it unceremoniously into a box next to his desk with a heavy thud as he moves to grab the next one that sits in a pile on the right side of his desk. He mumbles something under his breath, not loud enough to be heard but the tone is unmistakably grouchy as he angrily opens the cover to the next book and settles in to start reading.

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
Prue's in need of a wizard P.I. Not a wizard, P.I. A wizard P.I. She's brought a few coins with her and a picture of the collection that came across her desk. So, she's here and knocks on the door a few times. Harry Drezden, Wizaard P.I.

This is a good start, Prue looks restless, clad in her usual work uniform for Bucklands, and staring at the door. She could probably open it with her telekinesis but..but....why not

Harry Dresden has posed:
Slowly raising his eyes from his book to the door, Harry lets out a audible sigh that can actually be heard from Prue's side. He closes the paperback, setting it back onto the top of the pile on his desk and stands, making his way over to the door. Opening it and stepping aside, the wizard plasters on a smile.

"Hello miss. Please, come on in and take a seat. Can I offer you some coffee? Tea? Water?"

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
"Water, please" Prue says and looks up at Harry. He is....tall. Stepping in and to the couch, Prue sits. "Miss? My name is Prue, prue Halliwell. I've a job for you, it's a magic related job. I had something come into my business I felt was off, and I couldn't reach out my other witches and wizards I use for this sort of thing" Prue explains sitting back watching Harry.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Shutting the door behind Prue, Harry makes his way over to an old fashioned ice box, one that uses actual ice to cool down the interior, and produces a bottle of water and a Coke. Walking by Prue on his way to his desk, he offers her the bottle, "Well, this is off to a good start already. You wouldn't believe the number of times people walk in here skeptical of me being a wizard and I have to spend the first 20 minutes just trying to convince them I am for real...and this is with people that are flying around shooting lasers out of their eyes."

Sitting back down in his chair Harry pops the top on the Coke and takes a sip, setting it onto the desk in its usual place if all the water rings are any indication.

"So, what do you have for me, Prue?"

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
Prue sips, "I'm working in an auction house. I know how you feel" Prue says with vigor, "Bloodhaven's a strange city. I'm across town and people still think they can auction off photos on the beach in New York and get fifty grand. No. As for what I got for you, collection of coins came in, lira, drachma, yen, some even I can't identify. I was hoping" Prue offers sipping the water bottle more. "You could help. I didn't bring the actual coins because they creep me out. I did snap a picture, though. Here" Prue offers holding the picture out.

True enough, all sorts of coins. "They came from the estate of a very intresting man upstate" Prue begins."Specifically requested Bucklands to work on his estate...when there's mrore prominent auction houses around"

Harry Dresden has posed:
The mention of coins causes Harry to immediately snap to attention and give Prue a weary eye. Absentmindedly rubbing the palm of his gloved left hand the wizard cautiously speaks, "Please tell me that there wasn't a tarnished, almost blackened, denarius coin..."

He reaches over the desk and takes the photo, taking a deep breath as if the steady himself for what it is he might see before looking down at what the photo contains.

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
"See for yourself" Prue offers. "Forgive the poor lighting, it was taken when the shipment came in at dusk. I didn't handle the coins, they came packed like that" Prue adds, "I didn't notice this Denarius coin, I figured it was a foreign currency mixed in with the others" Prue admits sheepishly. Admittedly too, she's never run across one before.

"What o you make of them? They came from upstate New York like I said, I figured by the condition they were poorly stored or something like that, but..." she admits looking lost. "Hence why I came to you"

Harry Dresden has posed:
Glancing over the photo, it is obvious when Harry's eyes finally find the Denarian coin mixed in among all the others as his body trembles ever so slightly. He drops the photo onto the desk with a sigh and goes back to absently rubbing at his gloved palm, "Where is the coin now? Has anyone touched it? If you need to call someone, call them but make sure nobody, and I mean nobody, touches that thing. We need to go isolate that thing now."

Harry stands, opening the top drawer of his desk and rummaging around in it until he comes across a square piece of cloth which he hastily shoves into the front pocket of his jeans.

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
"I..don't know. I don't work alone at Bucklands but I made sure the coinbs were locked in my office and I've the sole key to it" Prue mutters, "So....if anyone broke in that's adding to their problems. Byy your reaction, it's not unicorns and ice cream then?" she smarts. Piper's the sarcastic one but Prue can have her moments of snarkiness too. Like now.

Harry Dresden has posed:
"Only if the unicorns in question are fallen angels," explains Harry as he moves over towards the coatrack to grab his duster, "What you see there is one of the pieces of silver that was paid to Judas Iscariot for his betrayal of Christ. It also just so happens to be the 'home' of on of the Knights of the Blackened Denarius. A group of fallen angels that like to hang out in those coins until someone, knowingly or unknowingly picks it up. Once that happens, well, usually they become a host to the angel inside. Sometimes the Fallen and the host work together, other times the Fallen just take the host over. In either case it is bad news. That coin needs to be isolated and given over to the Church for safekeeping."

He pauses, and then turns his head to look at Prue with a hint of suspicion in his eyes, "You didn't touch it, right?"

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
Prue shivers despite herself. "Ah, well there's no time to waste. My car's outside, you need me to do anyrhing to isolate it? I've not touched it, no. I just slid the coins out of the crate and they were in packaging that came like that. I figured I'd grab a picture first and like I said, locked in my office" Prue says with her eyes shining with certtainty.

"Lead on, Mr. Dresden. I can't get a hold of either of my sisters so....you're sort of one of my last hopes for dealing with this" Prue adds. She hasn't actually taken her jacket off.

Not like Prue was planning to stop any length of time, evidently. "My Miata's outside, the roof stays down" Prue declares and looks over to the door wondering just how much trouble she's in.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden slides on the duster and mutters a word under his breath as he holds out his left hand. The staff which was leaning against the corner flies into his outstretched hand on a sudden gust of wind. "A Miata? Um...we can try, but me and modern tech don't always get along at the best of times. Maybe I should meet you there."

Harry walks over to the desk and grabs a pencil and pad of paper, "What is the address?"

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
Prue sighs, "You wreck my Miata, I will bill you for it. Here" Prue says and looks like she'd mess with his book collection out of spite if her Miata got hurt. "So this coin's demonic, essentially?" Prue asks pulling out a business card. "Here, Bucklands does those fancy business cards. Keep it, I use mine for very very small notes and scribblings on. I got a stack of those" Prue nods, heading for the door. Destination? Bucklands. And to deal with this creepy coin collection, too

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "I would say worse than demonic, if we are going by categories." says Harry as he takes the card and checks his duster pocket to make sure his keys are in there. "I'd rank the Denarians as more apocalyptical, since they tend to try and want to end the world in one way or the other. Not a group to be lax about. I'll meet you at your offices in about 20. I want to make sure I have everything I need to handle this thing properly. It /wants/ you to pick it up, to get bare skin on it. Leave it locked away till I get there.""

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
"So take my work into my Miata in the lot, alright" Prue says keenly. "You" Prue nods looking over at Harry. "get what you need, and we'll tackle this together" she says with a look over Harry, then heads for the door

Harry Dresden has posed:
Twenty minutes or so later the beat up old VW beetle with mismatched color body, door, and hood sputters into the parking lot of Bucklands and drives around until he finds a parking spot. Harry emerges from the 'car', grabbing his staff from the back seat and start to stroll towards the front doors

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
Sure, Prue. Wonder Wiccan, hide behind Harry why don't you? Admittedly, Prue's the one with her office key in hand. Literally, in hand. Looking out from around Harry, Prue steps out and looks to her door. "Alright, ready?" Prue asks sounding uneasy.

Sliding her office key in, the lock clicks as Prue opens the door very, very carefully. Coins are, yes, on the desk. prue's not touched them at all.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden strides forward into the office and approaches the tray of coins, reaching into his pocket to produce that white handkerchief embroidered with crosses. "A friend of mind gave me this. This isn't the first time I have run across these things, and it most likely won't be the last. They have a tendency to find there way out and back into circulation."

Carefully reaching out with the handkerchief in his gloved hand, Harry moves to pick up the coin in question, treating it like it is some sort of radioactive material.

Prudence Halliwell has posed:
Prue watches silently and hangs back. Hey if the coin's as bad as people...well, Harry, says...then why risk it. Let the expert do his job and leave her with the rest of the coins. Prue's not catalogued every single coin. That, well, that's next on her list, as Prue edges out from behind Harry and watches the other coins carefully. She needs to find gloves real soon. The last pair she had lost a fight with film processing. Prue needs more gloves and, yes, ones that can withstand film chemicals, too

Harry Dresden has posed:
Carefully, Harry plucks the denarian coin from the rest with the cross imbued handkerchief, carefully folding and wrapping the coin within. He reaches in with his other hand and produces a small lockbox in which he places the cloth wrapped coin within and shuts the lid with a exhalation of breath. "Ok, now to get this to the Church for safekeeping. I wonder who this one is."
