Date of Scene: 26 July 2020
Location: West Chelsea Hill, Old Gotham
Synopsis: Hawkeye and Batgirl cross paths on a Gotham rooftop
Cast of Characters: Oracle, Hawkeye (Bishop)

Oracle has posed:
A 'pifffft' is the only sound that accompanies the shadow across the street. High over Gotham's seediest neighborhood, the dark-caped figure is hidden as she swings between buildings by the scudding clouds overhead casting strategic shadows. The man on the street below has no idea he's being followed the way he is, though he watches over his shoulder warily. Only a fool isn't cautious in this part of town. Crouching on a ledge half a block up, the cape folds around the lithe figure and shelters it against the misting rain that's falling. "He's supposed to meet someone, but it doesn't look like the meet is going to happen," she reports into a commlink. "I might have to take a crack another night." She scans the rooftops thoughtfully, trying to figure out where the thug on the ground is actually heading.

Hawkeye (Bishop) has posed:
Kate Bishop comes out of the door leading to the rooftop. She's wearing a purple and black bodysuit with purple shades over her eyes, her hair pulled back into a tight ponytail. Her bow is hooked over a shoulder while her quiver hangs at her left hip.

"Well, now I feel really stupid having been sat there for two hours," she sighs. "Thanks for the tip, though. Hi to whoever you're talking to, by the way. I'm Hawkeye. You're...a Bat-person, I'm guessing, cause Gotham and cause...well," she gestures to outfit. "I like it though. Very intim. Mucho scary."

Oracle has posed:
The redhead crouched on the ledge stands to her full height -- she's tall for a woman, 6'3 or so in the heeled boots she's wearing -- and turns to face the newcomer. The cowl covers her head and her eyes have a faint sheen to them, clearly lenses of some kind. "Hawkeye, hmm? Any relation to that guy that runs around with the Avengers?" Her voice is low but it lacks the gravelly growl that momst associate with Batman. Not to mention, she doesn't seem pissed off at the newbie on her rooftop the way Batman is rumored to be about his city. "Batgirl," she replies mildly in introduction. "What brings you to Gotham?"

Hawkeye (Bishop) has posed:
Kate Bishop puts out a hand and makes a wobbling motion, "I mean, I know the guy and he taught me a few things. But he's kind of a goof and I'm not anybody's sidekick. Not that there's anything wrong with that!" she says, turning the hand to a placating gesture.

"Chasing a weapons smuggler that's been operating in New York. Guess this is the other end of the pipeline. I think he was supposed to meet your guy but, like you said, looks like he no-showed. Gotta wonder why."

Oracle has posed:
There's a soft laugh. "Partner, yes. Sidekick? Not so much." It's been a good while since Batgirl was considered a 'sidekick' of any form. "Well, one of my partners has been watching the docks. It's possible he got tied up over there. This guy," she jerks her chin back to the man on the ground, who disappears into one of the rundown tenements, "he's a bit player. I was hoping to use him to follow the pipeline back toward New York. So maybe we can compare notes."

Hawkeye (Bishop) has posed:
Kate Bishop nods, "Sure. I literally have notes," she says, reaching into one of the pouches on her belt and pulling out a little flip notepad. "Not exactly high tech, I know, but sometimes devices make beeps and stuff and I'm trying to be stealthy."

"He's mostly moving AR-15s converted to full auto, plus a few smaller submachine gun type things. I think he's got grenades, too. These guys always have grenades, it makes them feel like Arnie in Commando."

Oracle has posed:
Batgirl has to laugh, moving finally to lower herself to a seat on the ledge she was using to crouch earlier. "Loooord, you should maybe be glad it's me and not Batman who found you out here. Writing things down could get you into some deep crap around here." She reaches out to silently request a look at the girl's notebook. "That lines up with what I've been tracing -- it sounds like they're just getting started. Which is good, it means taking them down will be quick and easy. The GCPD appreciates that."

Hawkeye (Bishop) has posed:
Kate Bishop puts a hand on her hip, "What, he's anti-pen and paper? I heard he was grouchy, but geez," she says. She makes a slight pouting face, "Aw. Quick and easy is good for cops, but I don't mind it when they put up a bit of a fight. I get to kick a few guys, put a few arrows in a few heinies. Maybe they cough up the name of some kingpin or, this being Gotham, total freakin' psychopath. Work up an appetite," she sighs.

"But, looks like I'm not getting any action tonight. I could go mugger hunting, but you guys probably have all those guys shitting themselves in dark corners."

Oracle has posed:
"Pen and paper can be dropped, the information compromised, and potentially get you followed and killed if you jotted down anything relevent," Batgirl points out gently. And then she laughs outright. "You'd think they'd all be curled up in corners sucking their thumbs by now, wouldn't you? And yet, look at the mess this town is in. I swear, I think when God was handing out brains some of these guys thought he said 'trains' and decided 'no thank you.'"

Hawkeye (Bishop) has posed:
Kate Bishop sighs, "I mean, I guess so, but, like, electronic devices can be hacked, too. And I don't drop things. I have sure fingers, comes with being an archer," she says.

"Well, from what I hear, most of them are crazy, which probably helps. Clowns and crocodiles and all that kinda thing. Which is cool! Most of the guys I fight are just regular gangsters in suits. Still dangerous and well-deserving of a beating, but so boring. They all saw Goodfellas when they were kids and now think they're Ray Liotta."

Oracle has posed:
Batman's gonna have a field day with this one. She smiles and hands the notebook back to Hawkeye and says, "I'm pretty familiar with an archer myself -- Green Arrow occasionally does a stint around Gotham too." She tips her head. "Out of curiosity, how are you getting around GOtham and New York? On the ground?"

Hawkeye (Bishop) has posed:
Kate Bishop nods, "I have a motorcycle," she says. "It's not like a super motorcycle, just like a regular Yamaha. I can't fire rockets or grease puddles or anything, but it does get excellent mileage. It's a hybrid."

"I haven't met GA, but I've heard of him. Seems pretty cool. Not so sure about his fashion sense. Purple is way better," she says, modelling her own suit. "Black's not bad, though. I thought the pointy ear thing would look silly, but it doesn't."

Oracle has posed:
Pursing her lips, Batgirl's grin still escapes. "Yeah -- the ears always make people go 'why??' but ... it was scary as hell when Batman got his start. I mean... Generally, people freak out about bats, yeah?" There's a shrug and she observes, "Purple works great -- Huntress uses it too. But I tend to find that the black and grey shifts in the shadows a little better around here. And given that we're not like the superpowered folks out there knocking down giants and such, any dark color that helps meld with darkness is a good thing. I like the purple on you, though. It's sharp."

As she pauses, Batgirl seems to be considering something. "Are you planning on sticking around Gotham, or are you heading back to New York?" Not like it's far -- just across the water, really.

Hawkeye (Bishop) has posed:
Kate Bishop crosses her arms over her chest, "I'm in no rush. I can pretty much go where I like. No boss or anything. I thought about joining SHIELD, but I feel weird about the idea of being a fed. Plus, they would expect me to keep normal hours and sign in and things. I don't need that."

"But, uh, yeah, I might stick around here for a while. If the big guy doesn't come and toss me out on my keister, of course. You'll vouch for me, right, BG?"

Oracle has posed:
The redhead can't help a laugh. "I feel you there." SHIELD is a whole kettle of fish. "Tell you what..." She reaches for that little notebook again and jots down an email address. "Touch base with me periodically. I'll keep an eye on what you're up to, and if the Bat takes a close look and I like what I see, I'll vouch for you." Unspoken is what happens if she *doesn't* like what she sees. But hey... "The email is untraceable. And while you're on probation in this town... I highly recommend those arrows are put in spots that don't kill anyone. It's the fast track to getting your kiester expelled." She holds the paper back out. "We'll share information and work together on this gun ring and see what happens. Deal?"

Hawkeye (Bishop) has posed:
Kate Bishop nods, "I don't aim for those spots usually. Even beyond the morality, that sort of thing can get you in a lot of trouble awfully fast. I'm not some psycho out here getting my jollies on hurting people. Well. No more than anybody who does this is, right?" she grins.

"Cool. I got Batgirl's e-mail. You don't have a Twitter, do you? I'd totally follow you," she says.

Oracle has posed:
"Nope. No Twitter. Sorry -- urban legend here." Batgirl grins in amusement and moves to stand. "I'll look forward to seeing how it plays out. If you run across any of the guys -- Robin's out and about, Nightwing sometimes -- and they give you any guff, have 'em gve me a yell." She glances down at the street. "Bugsy Malone there is all yours for the evening -- call it a test run," she tells Hawkeye cheekily. Pulling out a grappler, she fires it toward the next building down the block. "I'll be keeping an eye on you from up high."

She really is a Bat-type -- the warning given, friendly as it is, is still possessive of Gotham and what goes on in her streets. The arc of the jumpline as she steps off the rooftop carries her high across the road and around a corner. Maybe she's showing off *just* a little.

Hawkeye (Bishop) has posed:
Kate Bishop watches the swinging away and shakes her head, "I gotta figure out how they do that," she says. She mostly just ziplines herself, but she's not quite ready for the Tarzan stuff.

"Okay, now to find out what Chinese place delivers to my hotel..." she says, starting to scan through the listings on her phone as she goes back down the stairs.
