Bird Brained Trackers
Date of Scene: 04 August 2020
Location: Central Harlem, Manhattan
Synopsis: Bobbi and Peggy take on a Hydra nest and have a new friend to help out with it.
Cast of Characters: Falcon, Mockingbird, Peggy Carter

Falcon has posed:
It is a warm, late Summer night in Harlem. The sun has dropped down behind the taller buildings and the shadows are stretching along sidewalks, buildings, and alleyways. There is still movement out on the streets as people are walking, cars drive by, and the scents of dinner service from the various restaurants all mingle in the air to give that particular New York City smell.

Up on the top of one of the buildings, Sam Wilson sits crouched on the roof top watching what appears to be an abandoned building. What was once a store on the ground floor is boarded up and the floors above seem empty and quiet. There is a sign on the ground floor about a new high rent apartment building coming soon. Sam has his eyes to the goggles he is wearing, trying to get a better look at the building. He reaches down to tap on his forearm and Redwing, the robotic bird drone, launches out from his pack and begins to circle the observed building from above.

Mockingbird has posed:
If Sam cares to look around, and think where people would be doing the exact same thing he's doing, he'd get a vague idea where SHIELD agents like hiding. Bobbi Morse...Mockingbird took the general 'watch the building' idea and has put her own twist on it, being Mockingbird, she's been tracking the building with her own style. Sure it's not moved, but...hey, why not keep an eye on it just in case. The higher ups at SHIELD think things are going on there.

With her faovred interns out of comission after being idiots, it's fallen to Bobbi to do this herself.
R
Whifh, hey, which explains a lot.

Falcon has posed:
Redwing circles up above relaying information back to Same. Definitely looks like someone is home tonight. These folks have been moving weapons up the East River and then along the Harlem River. It appears this is a staging point for distribution out into the country. Redwing is circling back towards Sam when it spots another figure on another roof top. Sam turns his head, searching for what Redwing saw, and catching sight of Mockingbird. Doesn't appear to be a sentry, but one cannot be too sure. He stands and moves to jump off the building's edge. Wings open up. Arms are spread wide as the Falcon dips and then flies upward. He circles and then is dropping towards Mockingbird's position. No weapons drawn yet, but he is ready in case, she acts hostile.

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi springs into action thinking it's a sentry and brings her staves up to protect herself. hey. To be fair. Sam was the one who started this. Bobbi's just going with training and seeing how she was specifically warned these are dangerous people...she's taking no chances. Tac suit, a lot of weapons, enough to make a small nation's warlord jealous, and...her mouth.

"You know it's rude to drop in on a lady" Bobbi snaps, staves braced to block a punch or anything, and if needed she can fight with one in each hand, or, y'know, snap them together. Or even go one stave, one gun, and be somehow more dangerous?

Falcon has posed:
Falcon flips in mid dive so that he is driving with his feet towards Bobbi. His wings flare out on both sides, slowing him down, but still striking with his boots. He clangs off against the staves and then is flapping upward again. "I don't take kindly to armed gangs in my neighborhood, lady," Sam calls back as he lifts and is circling for another dive towards her.

Mockingbird has posed:
"same team" Bobbi calls out and spins the staves so if Falcon does dive, he'll get a whirring stave. Or, with a flick of her hand, the staves tasers are ready to fire now. "We're on the same team, we're looking into what's going on in there" Bobbi says keeping her voice down to not attract any unwanted attention...

Which let's see what's going on. If we work together we can wipe out the gang in there" she adds gesturing with a boot to the building. No way she's pulling her guard down.

"I work for the government, I'm on your side" she implores, watching Falcon, "Land and we can make a better team than if we're at each other's throats"

Falcon has posed:
Falcon pulls up in the air, circling, and watching Bobbi. True, she wasn't dressed like the folks he had been following into the building. Her demeanor felt wrong too. He comes down to land about six feet away from her. There is a click and faint mechanical noises as his wings collapse back into the harness on his back. Redwing comes to return to the harness as well. He looks a bit skeptical as he regards the SHIELD agent. "Same team, huh?" He remains where he is for another beat. "Then tell me. Who do you think is down there?"

Peggy Carter has posed:
Having cleared the other side of the area, probably the only time Peggy and Bobbi would split up the whole mission, the experienced but rather out of time Agent comes back to Bobbi's side. She's in fairly generic issue SHIELD protective gear. Some body armor hidden beneath dark slacks, a dark tank top, and a leather jacket to cover her arms and weapons. Sure, it was warm, but it was better than getting road burn or worse on the curb when she gets into a fight. Her firearm is out and comfortably in hand, but pointed strictly at the floor, nothing she actually intends on shooting yet in gaze. "Other side is clear of any patrols..." She starts to Bobbi, her accent clipped, British, and deathly serious. She then stares at the man, "But it seems you already have company."

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi nods to Peggy and keeps one eye on Sam. "Same team" she repeats to him. Oh yes Bobbi found company and trouble, but she's got her staves out because, let's be real. You can't block a flying Sam with a firearm and not risk an innocent getting shot really.

"There are extremely nasty people in there" Bobbi says keeping it vague. no need to spill mission secrets, but the other side's clear. Good. You did good work" Bobbi adds and turns her attention back to Sam. "Just who are you?" she asks, ready to strike at a moment's notice.

On the job she's all business, and this is an unknown, possibly hostile so she's taking no chances.

"What do you know about the building?" Bobbi asks, her voice deliberately neutral. She's hiding her emotions and clamping them down for the sake of the mission, and narrows her eyes on sam. She's not micro managing Peggy's every move. Hell she's well aware of who Peggy is, and if Peggy has a plan, Bobbi will go with it if it gets results

Falcon has posed:
Sam jumps slightly when Peg shows up but relaxes as Bobbi recognizes her and addresses her. His own sidearm remains at his side as he looks over the two ladies. "I've been following them for about a week. Harlem is my home, and those folks have been bring weapons up the river from the harbor. Killed a friend of mine." He looks briefly towards the building and then back to the pair. "That building used to be alive with people, but it has been empty now for a couple years. Seems a nest of snakes has gotten in there. Figure if this is my home, got to do what I can to get those snakes out." He is standing tense as he speaks, but not wound tight.

Peggy Carter has posed:
"Definitely the same team." Peggy's accented voice echoes softly. She's now studying Sam deeper, dark eyes just seeming to pick the man apart inch by inch for just a few moments. She's got the look of a profiler, someone who is damn good at reading every little detail of another person on first meeting. Body language, clothes (or super hero outfit, in this instance), facial tension, weapons. Everything she can get with a look alone is processed and she gives a slight nod. "I take it you can defend yourself. From all reports, this group isn't just bringing in weapons. Experimental equipment, probably on people. They like to pull them off the streets. If we're lucky, they haven't started yet." It seems she likes what she's seen.

"Do you know how many exits in and out of the building? If we can cover all of them, it'll be less likely to lose any out the back. Get in, get them down, unconscious is preferable for arrest, but these aren't good people. We'll do what we need to protect this place from them." Granted, she has an ICER in hand, so it's unlikely to kill someone. But there's no compunction about doing it if she must. She looks to Bobbi for confirmation of her thoughts.

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi nods to Peggy and speaks up. "Did you notice anything unusual goingg into or coming out of the building?" she asks and reaches down for her pistol she's brought with her. Get in, kill or capture, depending on if they shoot first, and get out in one piece. The three of them could very well take the building if all goes well.

Bobbi shifts her weight slightly and looks over to Peggy then Sam. "Three can cover all exits if it's a simple building. Anything more complex and we got exits people can slip out of.

Tapping her foot, Bobbi looks to the building, "Or. We go in. We clear it out ourselves" she posits and cants her head to better take in the building then back to the rest of her impromptu team. Well, the one impromptu addition, that is

Falcon has posed:
"Yes, ma'am," Sam replies in the clipped tone of someone that had been in the service when asked if he can defend himself. "I've already done some scouting of the building too. Redwing says there are about ten of them in there. Seeing some wild energy readings though that I have never seen. From what I have seen, only a front door and back door although there are fire escapes along the alley. The roof too I suppose." Sam Wilson "I don't know if that differs from what you have seen, but yes, I can help if we are going to clear out the building." He is also evaluating the pair in front of him. They certainly stand and move like people that have had training. Hopefully, they are not working with the other side and just setting him up. "I'd prefer to take the roof if possible." At least until he knows if he can trust them.

Peggy Carter has posed:
Looking over his outfit, Peggy lofts an interested brow and nods towards both of them. "Roof seems sensible. Especially if you are capable of those things. If any get out by fire escape or an unknown door, you clear the rats that thought they could escape. We take care of the inside. Means none of us is having to turn back to each other considering we don't know each other from Adam. I'll take the back, Mockingbird, the front. Fight smart, back to the walls, you know procedures." Peggy definitely has training. She gives the clipped outline like someone who's been a field officer for a lot of her life.

There is a momentary glance to Bobbi, Peg's eyes saying there might be more to discuss, but she's not doing it in front of an unknown operative. She gives a small nod, ready as she'll ever be.

Mockingbird has posed:
All Bobbi does is give a nod as she smiles. "Got it" she says looking deadly serious as she steps away from Peggy. Time to get limbered up, and ready to setp into a snake's nest.

Or, Hydra's nest, even. Snakes. hydras. Same thing...

Moving to the edge of the roof, Bobbi looks to the building, then smiles. "Let's move in"

Falcon has posed:
Sam nods at the plan. "Make sense to me." As Bobbi moves towards the edge, he is also making his way to an edge. He gives a look over his shoulder at the two of them and nods. He leaps from the roof and drops out of sight for a moment before he is seen flying upward and moving to circle the building of snakes. Redwing launches from his harness once more. "You let me know if they go for the fire escapes, Bird," he signals over to the drone even as he comes down to land on the roof. He finds the door leading down and begins to make his way down the staircase with his back to the wall.

Inside, on the third floor, about ten HYDRA Agents seem to be in some sort of meeting. Figures can be detected once in a while by a window or from any thermal or motion signs the SHIELD agents may carry with them. They do not appear to have noticed what is going on outside just yet.

Peggy Carter has posed:
Infrared that is this small and just easily carried is pretty damn new to Peggy. They were working on it, they definitely weren't there the last time she'd been in the field. So, she slips on her little glasses and with one last pointing 'Go-go-go!' motion to Bobbi, she's hugging around to the back door of the building. She scans the door for any trips or electric sensors that are going to go off the moment she opens it. Not that it will stop her, but it lets her know just how much time they have. Peggy still moves like a woman who's been training for field action and espionage her entire life. Mainly, because, she has. As quiet as mortal feet can get, her's are. Once she's cleared the door, she swings inside and starts up for the third floor.

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi's in the front door and eschews the staves in favor of a submachine gun, because staves won't work too well in confined spaces. See, she's brought her glasses with the tech in them, too and oh, she's got her thermal sights on the SMG, too. All the better to take out Hydra agents with.

Ten of them on the third floor. Alright then. Bobbi moves with brutal efficiency as she is gunning, literally, for the third floor. Take out the nest, cut off the head...

If SHIELD would allow it, she'd demolish the building, too in order to make sure nothing too bad would come back from this.

Admitedly, levelling the building may send the wrong message. But so will takeing out a Hydra cell.

Falcon has posed:
Sam is moving quickly down the stairwell and pops his machine pistols into his hands. Fifth floor...fourth floor...third floor. He steps out into the hallway quietly. All the doors are closed into the main hallway. Redwing above him that the group is in the largest room at the far end of the hallway. He stays at the far end of the hallway to cut off any escape attempts once the other two arrive. Redwing is watching fire escapes so if they go that way, they will be spotted.

Inside the room, the ten men are dressed in black with almost skull like masks on their faces. The room is full of crates, maps, and various equipment for communication and monitoring. However, it would appear any cameras they had on the outside of the building are looking the wrong way.

Peggy Carter has posed:
No cameras or trip wires that Peggy can tell. Either this was a pretty new nest for HYDRA or they'd just gotten lazy in their old age. Either way, she takes advantage of the surprise they will have, moving fast as humanly possible up the stairs. All of them are pretty darn close to the same timing, but she doesn't hesitate or wait for a signal to go in. She trusts the others (at least, as much as a joint, unplanned operation can be) to cover their exits. She just needs to cover hers.

She swings into the room and gets low immediately as she opens fire with the new gun SHIELD had put into her hands for her most recent training. It doesn't kick as hard as some of the old things, so she's glad that she's got some time in on the range so that her aim is going to remain mostly true. She's a highly disciplined markswoman, coughing several shots at a single target's head before finding her next target and then opening fire again. No indiscriminate spray of bullets, no peppering the room. She conserves ammo and the risk of friendly fire with at least one of her team across the room. She stays low and finds cover as quickly as possible, but taking out the enemy agents is her first priority.

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi's being practical and opens fire from outside the doorway at the agents, throwing in a flash grenade and is doing her best to pin down the Hydra agents. Ten vs...two, great.

They still got this one, alright then.

See, they can take them out given hw they work as a team.

Looking into the room for a split second, Bobbi keeps firing from cover. Not that she's seeing what she's aiming at, but she's spraying from the doorway.

She's not trying to shoot Peggy, true.

Falcon has posed:
Sam goes back up the stairs to the fourh floor. He runs down the hallway and finds the room directly above the action below them. Kicking down the door, Sam charges through the room and straight out the window. Glass explodes out as wings spread and he cuts and swerves in the tight alley until he is able to charge toward the window on the third floor now.

"Achtung!" One soldier is gunned down by Peggy before he even really knows anyone was there. Big bang and then big explosion has others falling backwards from the onslaught. "HYDRA!" cries a soldier as they grab into one of the crates and pulls out an engery rifle beginning to fire wildly in the direction of the door. Another HYDRA soldier goes down hard in the controlled shots of the SHIELD Agents. The rest are behind crates now and beginning to return fire.

Peggy Carter has posed:
While she and Bobbi's styles are a bit different, it means the HYDRA agents can't predict what is coming from where. Peggy grunts a bit as she slides between one crate and another, trying to get a view of the room that means she can cover the door without being directly in Bobbi's fire. Something connected with the side of her body armor and she'll be bruised, but that's why she armored up. She has no time to worry about it as she jerks into position behind the crate and waits for another HYRDA agent to dare duck a head out.

It's like a horrible carnival game now, the sort of firefight she's used to having but never likes. All that matters is who is the fastest and the sharpest. She's doing her best to pick them off every time they duck out, but as soon as Sam makes his entrance, if she does, Peggy uses the distraction to actually open controlled fire or a few before going back to her cover.

Mockingbird has posed:
"Frag" Bobbi calls and throws a frag grenade over to the mass of Hydra agents with one hand, bracing the submachine gun against the doorway with her other. Given she can't see what she's throwing it at, she's just hoping to bank it off the far wall and plink it into the Hydra agents. Oh, what, she was supposed to be non lethal? Yeah that lasted for about two seconds.

Besides, they started shooting and...

Screw it.

Peggy's behind a crate, Bobbi's hiding and using the door as cover, and being very, very careful to not shoot at Peggy. Her SMG runs dry as the clattering of an assault rifle (albeit a carbine) starts up. Bobbi's hoping the Hydra people assume there's a team out here, not just Bobbi with a whole lot of weapons and gadgets. If she can throw them off balance, and make them them they are facing a SHIELD team...good.

She does call for backup however and for said backup to take out any who try to run. So much for 'capture' then...

Falcon has posed:
The window explodes inward behind the remaining HYDRA agents even as they are beginning to scramble from the grenade. Falcon comes crashing through using his wings to protect him from the glass, and thankfully, an exploding grenade. The agents are left with no where to run and five more are dropped to the ground with shrapnel sticking out of their bodies. Moans of pain say that at least a few of them are still alive. Another goes down as Peggy hits one trying to run from Sam and the grenade. There are only two left now and escape routes seem to have been cut off. "Hail HYDRA!" They scream as mouth move to crunch down on teeth.

Peggy Carter has posed:
That echoing, too familiar chant makes Peggy half sick to hear again. After all these years, all this time, and they're still here. She winces and ducks back from the explosion of both window and grenade, but as soon as the chaos of that is done, she's up and standing once more. The echoing chant in the room draws the last few bullets she has in this load, straight to the man's head. She wasn't even trying to shoot to disable now, but they hopefully had some prisoners left. She trusts one of the other two to take out the last, though she pauses a moment to reload before coming out from behind her cover, her gun trained quietly in the direction of the moans of pain.

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi's playing whack-a-mole with kneecaps. Ouch, Bobbi's nott being nice in th eleast. Keep chanting, they just give Bobbi targets to shoot at. one kneecap. Two.

See, they are prisoners, without knees. So...they ain't going anywhere yet, as Morse moves into the room and keeps her eye on the final two Hydra agents. Bobbi's very much not feeling like they ought to live.

Not her call though. She's got orders to do. And...yes, she'll follow them. As much as she may not like them.

She gives Peggy a look out the corner of her eye and keeps her finger on the trigger. Okay fine, shoot the elbows too, Bobbi...

Then bring them in...well, no, bring them into the cells and leave them there.

Falcon has posed:
Falcon stands up, bringing in his wings within the tight quarters of the room. He moves to kneel down next to a couple of the soldiers that had been struck by the grenade.

The last two soldiers crumble to the ground either from being shot or the poison tooth they just bit down on. Falcon is dealing with one soldier that appears to have only taken sharpnel in the leg. He rips at the HYDRA uniform in order to get fabric and a tourniquet around the leg. "I can stablize this one," he calls out to the agents even as the man he is working on bites down on his own poisoned tooth.

Peggy Carter has posed:
Peg reaches up to her ear, hitting the right button to get the comm unit back to SHIELD. It takes a little finding, still getting used to the tech, but she's a quick study. "Enemy agents cleared. At least... 4 prisoners to bring in, several more bodies..." And she reads off the exact location so the clean up crew can at least get near to being on site. "I'll meet the clean up crew out front. If...you don't want a lot of questions, you might want to be gone in the next ten minutes." She speaks that straight to Sam, before looking over to Bobbi, "Or see if he wants to maybe train up. We could use more help if they're already putting an old woman like me back in the field. I'll come back up before the crew enters so you know when to jet." She offers that to Sam, but then moves for the stairwell.

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi nods and confirms what Peggy reports, explaining it as she looks to Sam. "You did good" she adds and doesn't much care for Hydra being in the middle of Harlem. Great, where else are they hiding?

She'ss guarding the door, watching Peggy head down the stairs. Cleanup crew's a thing...okay.

Bobbi watches Sam quietly. "You've got a lot of potential, Sam" Bobbi says, "You fit into our team flawlessly and you moeve and fight like somebody who has done this before"

She's not a SHIELD recruiter, no...instead, Bobbi's not hitting Sam over thead, stuffing him into a van and driving to the Triskelion any time soon.
