Cast of Characters: Thomas Raith, Harry Dresden

Thomas Raith has posed:
It's a little after two when there is a knock on the door of Harry's office. Thomas is standing there, two takeout bags one in each hand, and a large cardboard tube draped across his back. He holds the bags out in front of him, as if in defense. "You wouldn't hit a man who brought you lunch would you?"

Harry Dresden has posed:
Buffy and Jennifer having just left, Harry moves back to his desk and uncovers Bob from underneath the Imperial Bath Robe. "How much longer on the potions, Bob?"

"What do I look like Harry, on of those bloody Alexia things? I am not a timer. That being said, about 10 minutes. You are just lucky I have immaculate time sense."

Harry rolls his eyes, taking a seat and kicking his feet up onto the desk in front of him, "Why do you always complain so much, Bob? It's not like I asked you to do something truly taxing, like find a solution to mass teleportation or something like that." Harry draws a breath, about to say something else when the door opens and he hears that voice.

Harry slowly turns his attention to the man in the doorway and folds his arms over his chest, "That depends on a couple of things. Is that man a dick, and what did he bring to placate a somewhat perturbed wizard?"

Thomas Raith has posed:
"Steaks and fries fromm the Blue Lady's Kitchen, and a couple bottles of MAc's Dark from his basement to mine." He says with that tooo pretty grin, walking in and looking around. "Weryou on the phone just now?I thought I heard voices." He sets the bags on the Harried Wizard's desk, the tube beside the visitor's chair. "I figured by now you might have questions...

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry thinks for a long moment, and then lifts his hand to wave Thomas over, beckoning the Incubus inside. "Acceptable. For now, anyway. I reserve the right to punch the lunch barer later."

Dropping the robe over Bob again Harry shrugs a shoulder, "Talking to myself really. Working out the timings on a potion, sometimes it would just be easier if I could use one of those damned electronic Alexia type things, but here I am stuck in the...whatever age. As for questions...ya think?!" Harry rolls his eyes, "Karrin went to bat for you. You are lucky I value her opinion."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith simply shrugs, an honest gesture. "Murphy is good people. You are lucky to have each other." He says simply, opening the bags and taking out styrofoam boxes. The smell of wood fire grilled meat and deep fat fried potatos filling the air.. "alright, where do you want to start. I'll be as honest and forthright as I can."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry is quiet for a long moment as he contemplates, "We are going to start by doing something I have absolutely no fucking desire to do what so ever," he mumbles as he lifts his head to find Thomas' eyes and lock his on them.

Thomas Raith has posed:
There is just a moment, a long moment but a moment none the less when it looks like Thomas just mighht avert his eyes before the Soulgaze can take effect... and then.. then Thomas locks his eyes with his brother's as well. There is that moment of connection... and then the sensation that they are falling into each other's worlds. Falling into each other.

Harry Dresden has posed:
It only takes a brief second or two for a soulgaze to occur, but for the two people involved it seem like forever. There is nowhere to hide, each person's soul laid bare to the other. Neither know what the other sees, but they each know it HAS to be the truth.

Which is why in the second after the soulgaze ends Harry flails back in his chair and goes crashing to the ground, tears falling uncontrollably as he utters out a single questioning word. "Mom?!"

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith takes a slow breath, and lets it out in a shudder. He doesn't try to hide the tears that slip from the corners of his eyes as he leans back in the visitors chaiir. He touches his own cheek where he can still feel his mother's phantom touch. "I'd... I'd forgotten what her voice sounded like." He says in a soft whisper. Only for him to hear it again in his mind, ~Now be good and look after your little brother. He needs you.~ The soft tones, heard in a Soulgaze, now etched indelibly into his mind.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Picking himself up from the ground and making his way back into the chair, Harry stares over at Thomas silently for a long time..and then he smiles. A grin larger than most people have ever seen this wizard smile. "I saw her, Thomas..." he says, almost giddy in the revelation of it. "SAW HER...HEARD HER!" The manic wizard starts to laugh, it starts off small, but grows more and more boisterous as it continues. The line Thomas uses about forgetting what she sounded like makes Harry CACKLE, "Don't you get it?! We saw her, Thomas. We saw mom...with the sight! We will NEVER be able to forget it now. Never!"

Desk be damned the wizard reaches over and clasps his older brother by the shoulder, giving it a squeeze. "Never."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith laughs with his brother. A Pure, honest laugh that seems to take a huge burdon off his soul. He squeezes Harry back, not a hug mind you just a manly squeeze on the shoulder and upper arm. And yes there are still tears in his eyes, but they are manly tears of manliness damnit. He sighs and shakes his head... "And here I thought I was going to be bringing you a present. Empty Night..." He tries to regain a bit of his composure and just says "Thank you Harry. Thank you."

Harry Dresden has posed:
"I...uh. I'm sorry I decked you." Harry says sheepishly as he flops back into his chair, the grin still on his face. "I was a little pissed off at the time. It looks like you healed up ok though." Harry reaches for one of the beers and ops the top, taking a huge swig of it. "It was just, well, it was a very large and hard pill to swallow."

"Wait, you brought me a present?" Harry says with the last vestiges of that grin on his face, which quite honestly probably won't be going away anytime soon. "I, uh, am also sorry I have gave you such a hard time. I...saw it. What you go through. It must be hell."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith adjusts his jaw slightly, even though the punch was to his nose. "Yeah, well I coulda ducked. Figured I'd let you take you shot and you'd feel better. Didn't know about the rings." He says almost sheepishly. He takes out the cardboard tube and gestures to the man's desk. "Clear a space would you?" he asks as he opens it and pulls out a rolled canvas. "Whenever a woman bears my father a child, he paints her portrait." Thomas explains, "The original is in Chatau Raith in Chicago, but whn I decided...well to tell you... I had a painter I know come in and copy it.." He slowly unrolls the canvas onto the desk..

Harry Dresden has posed:
Quickly without much thought to the organization of his desk, like there was ever one to begin with, Harry clears a space on the desk. The only thing he has much care for in handling the the skull with the robe draped over it, which he puts into one of the desk drawers. As Thomas unrolls the painting Harry's eyes tear up again as he lays eyes on the portrait of his mother, reaching fingers out to touch the canvas as if he could feel her cheek through it. "What was she like, Thomas?"

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith looks down at the portrait that he has seen doozens of times before, but now with fresh eyes. "She was... Well she was mom." He says softly. "She was kind, and fierce, and gentle, and loving." he reaches out, fingers hovering over the painted canvas. "She liked chocolate ice cream and old black and white movies. And she laughed all the time. When she was happy her laugh was like the sun coming out. When she was mad, she had a laugh that made you wanna go hide somewhere." he takes a deep breath, "I remember... the night she left, she came into my room. I pretended I was asleep because...hell I don't even remember why. But she kissed my cheek, and told me she loved me. She smelled like lavender and vanilla... It's always been one of my favorite scents.
