(Armored) Car Trouble
Date of Scene: 06 August 2020
Location: Washington Heights, Manhattan
Synopsis: A group of do-gooders interrupts a friendly, neighborhood armored car robbery.
Cast of Characters: Snake Eyes, Peggy Carter, Wild Rose, Zach Daniels, June Connor

Snake Eyes has posed:
The streets have their usual amount of traffic. Nothing too crazy. Part of the traffic today, however, is an armored car. It stops at a small government building, the dismount guards get out together to go inside to fetch what they've been hired to transport. Things look like business as usual.

Behind them, a few car lengths away, is a black van. It currently contains Snake Eyes riding shotgun and his partner Dial-Tone driving. The back is full of communications and surveillance equipment, not to mention a bunch of military equipment. DT says to Snake, "Yeah, so I totally think you should try dating again. I mean, who cares if you don't talk? A lot of people consider that a positive trait."

Out on the sidewalk there are a bunch of people just doing their thing. A couple of those people, however, happen to be ready to do a nefarious thing.

Peggy Carter has posed:
Since appearing in this time, Peggy's done a lot of walking. It's the best way she can take in what her city is actually still like. What changed, what's the same, what normal is for the world now. So, this afternoon is no different, without assignment or focus she's gone on a long stroll away from offices and temporary quarters. She's dressed in slightly more modern gear, a button down dark shirt tucked into high waisted palazzo pants that are definitely more of a 40s style than jeans, but somehow back in vogue.

The sight of an armored vehicle draws a curious glance from her dark eyes. Still, a part of the normal these days, but the armoring is clearly updated. She stops in her stroll, studying it, drinking in each difference from what she'd know of armored vehicles. How much changes, how much stays the same...

Wild Rose has posed:
The search for a location for a martial arts studio pressed on. Fair weather wouldn't last forever, and neither would open-air classes in the park. Soon, summer's warmth would give way to brutal winter, and that was no sort of way to teach class. So it is that Riana is making her way along the street, strolling with her bo staff in hand more like a walking stick than anything else. She's in simple jeans, an old white t-shirt with a yellow fist surrounded by laurel leaves on the front, and white sneakers that look a little dog-chewed. Her titian tresses are pulled back in a ponytail, in deference to the heat.

The sight of an armored car was nothing new, especially not in New York. Passing by near Peggy, she offers a smile, but for the moment appears to be going on her way.

However, things never did remain that simple, did they?

Zach Daniels has posed:
Up in the sky, as per usual, Zach is soaring today and watching what's going on beneath his wings, boots and all, and he's eating a cream cheese bagel while soaring. No need for supersonic face stuffing this time. More a lazy, gentle soaring and curiosity abounding as Zach dips a wing and dives slowly down. it's not the wings in drop like a stone type, more the gentle hey, I wanna check a//l the things out...

Which is what he's doing, lazily descending down toward the street, lateish breakfast in hand. Because...

Zach doesn't work on a normal sleep pattern thanks. he's on his own internal clock. Still, he's wondering just what's going on with that group of people. Maybe they'd like a bagel too, or some coffee?

June Connor has posed:
June's presence is no accident. She beat the tar out of a guy to get information about someone today. He was supposed to be here at around this time for some kind of deal. Claimed he didn't know what it was. Sure he didn't. But it didn't matter, if he was here that's all that really counted. She wears a pair of skinny black jeans that are shredded, and a deep cut tank that can hardly be said to cover anything, an Offspring logo on the front of it. Fortunately, she is wearing a sports bra underneath, so she's still decent, but it reveals a series of tattoos on her. Among them, most notably, one that looks strikingly like the image of a footprint on her left shoulder. She isn't one that blends in well, even in New York. Her fire engine red hair and half shaved head makes her a striking image. Sorry Peggy, you aren't in the forties anymore.
She scans the area, people bustling about, and notices the armored car. It clicks. "Oh fuck."

Snake Eyes has posed:
The armored car guards that went inside return to their vehicle moving quickly with a briefcase in one of their hands. Before they can reach it, however, a pair of panhandlers get up off of the ground and pull pistols on them. They draw their own weapons but a moment later one of the villains lifts his free hand and the guards' pistols melt in their hands. The gun melter then turns rapidly towards the armored car and repeats the melting process, turning the armored hood and engine block into mush.

A sport utility vehicle that had been parked across the street suddenly floors it towards the remains of the armored car. Four more men with automatic rifles get out and approach the back of their target vehicle.

"Crap! Snake, it's that Melta Man dude from the briefings. He was supposed to still be in Morocco." Dial-Tone seems agitated by the bad intel she'd gotten but she guns it towards the robbers anyway. "I'll alert backup. They should get here in time to draw chalk outlines around these mooks for you."

Snake nods his head at his partner before opening his door and jumping out of the moving van, hitting the ground and tucking and rolling to his feet. He brings his submachine gun around, ready to start engaging threats.

Wild Rose has posed:
Riana had no such luxury of any sort of firepower. All she had were her wits, her gifts, her training, and her bo staff. And the first order of business was to get the hell out of the way of the molten, slagged remains of the armored truck. Thank you very kindly, but she was not at all keen on becoming crispy fried sensei--and she wasn't keen on seeing anybody else meet a similar fate. Jumping back from the destruction of the armored truck, she reaches out with her left hand and pulls back on Peggy's shirt, not enough to tear but certainly enough to pull her back out of range if successful.

"That was a little close... you okay, ma'am?"

Peggy Carter has posed:
Well, so much for modern technology. Peggy's eyes go wide as she sees the car just starting to melt before her very face, something that shouldn't be possible. It's the shock which means she almost stayed in place a little too long, Riana's grab tugging her out of thoughts and saving her from scorching shoes or feet on the sudden mess. "Hell. Fine... Thank you, but... might not stay that way, looks like they are armed. We need to clear this street."

Peggy's clipped British voice is all military firm and used to giving orders. She's not a panicking civilian, but someone who looks ready to help those civilians. "I'm going to work on clearing the area, wasn't expecting a fight today. Hell!" And with one more thankful smile to Riana, she dashes back and begins shouting commanding orders at terrified civilians on the street. She's just trying to get them down alleyways, side streets, and anywhere away from where the firefight might start.

June Connor has posed:
There's upsides and downsides to having a tattoo that announces to the world that you're a Foot ninja. The upside is that, she's not, which means that it can screw with the politics of the Foot's dealings when she interferes with a criminal activity. The downside is...everyone who knows about the Foot thinks she's a criminal herself. Which...technically speaking she is, since she does crazy stuff like she does now.

Her hand drops to the utility belt that hangs loosely from her hips to one side. An onlooker might think it's one of those punker fashion statements. But very useful things are held inside that belt. She instinctively pulls a few smoke bombs from one pouch, and flings them toward the altercation. People often won't shoot if they aren't sure what they are going to hit by doing so, and she hopes these guys are similar. Plus, there's a mutant in this crowd. The less he's aware of her presence, the better.

Downside? Well, she didn't know that there was a trained professional already set to engage. That probably won't be a good thing for her later.

Zach Daniels has posed:
Zach pauses his descent and watches wide eyed and scrabbles for height again. Stay out of sight...stay out of sight and help out. By not ending up a pile of charred, melted feathers. his friends...alright, Castiel, wouldn't like it. Or Willow, or, y'know, the people he's riends with in his apartment in Clinton.

Looking down on the scene from above, Zach..just sorta hovrs there. he does though unsling his crossbow and loads a bolt into it. yeah, right. Like that'll do any good?

Who knows. Maybe he can help out in another way. He puts the bolt back in his cargo pants pocket and zips it up, crossbow on his back so it won't impede his wings, and he....well....

Just dives supersonic at the threat. Because the last time he tried that he ended up breaking several bones and hit a robot. Humans are squishier. The black clad fallen angel's not playing around, mind...he's decided fine, eff it, I go bowling for humans at Mach 1.01. Into what's this, a smoke cloud.

Great. This gets better and better. Zach /can/ pull up if needed...but why when he's already committed to diving literally headfirst in

Snake Eyes has posed:
The bad guys are soon engulfed in smoke. One of them is knocked flat to the ground by an aerial assault that... unfortunately, blows much of the smoke away. Two of the riflemen aim at their winged attacker, ready to engage! The remaining crooks, minus the guy covering the two guards move towards the back of the armored car, lead by Melta Man. Hd grins and starts melting the locks to the back of of the van.

The citizens on the street are scared and freaked out, but there's someone who seems to know what she's doing! They begin to follow Agent Carter's directions.

Wild Rose has posed:
The sonic boom might have cleared away the smoke, true. It might have startled a few of the attackers in the process. However, this close to a person, it could definitely have a detrimental effect on one's hearing.

For someone with /super/ hearing, it was even worse.

Rocking back on her heels, Riana just barely manages to catch her bo staff in the crook of her arm as her hands fly up to cover her ears. It does little good, with the impact of the sonic boom on her senses turning her somewhat green around the gills, as if she had a three-alarm hangover, or a severe migraine.

     "Ah, f...."

June Connor has posed:
June charges in behind her throw of the smoke bombs, only to have the incoming burst of sound and wind knock her and the smoke back. "What the hell?" she murmurs, finding herself no longer a discreet engager. The guns start cracking off shots, filling the air with the smell of gunpowder. She sees the winged...hero? Competition? Not her problem. Where'd the guy go? Melting locks. "Nobody told me he was a mutant," she growls, and leaves the winged hero to follow her target. She grabs the corner of the van, swinging herself around and throwing a boot toward the villain's face. Good thing she isn't made of metal. Unfortunately, between a wallet chain, boot eyelets, belt buckle, and a host of earrings, a nose ring, a lip ring AND a tongue ring, she has plenty of metal on her.

Zach Daniels has posed:
Zach's not a fan of having guns aimed at him and launches into mid air martial arts. he can move quickly and put up to a ton of force behind his strikes, which is what he's doing. So mid air martial arts, punches, kicks, throwing the bagel and coffee cup at the mooks. 600 mile an hour cream cheese anyone? Literal, fallen angel thrown fast food and thrown coffee.

Looking to them Zach's got his eyes narrowed and is focused on fighting, wings coiled around him enough for him to hover without putting too much wing out as a lovely feathered target...and he's moulting. Great, he's already caused a shockwave in the city, and now he's littering too...great, Zach. Enjoy the tickets?

Though hey if he deals with the mooks, he may get away with this, who knows?

Zach draws his sword. It's an angelic one, and Zach's trained with it for ovder a thousand years...and he resumes his attack on the mooks, only now, sword in hand. Chop chop chop

Snake Eyes has posed:
Melta Man gets a face full of boot and staggers backwards following the assault, reaching up to grab his head after the attack. One of his fellows moves to attack June only to end up on the receiving end of a bunch of strikes from the winged warrior.

With all the people suddenly in the mix Snake Eyes opts not to use firearms, slinging his gun and going in bare handed. A jump kick towards the guy covering the two guards outside the truck initiates his assault. Soon that dude is out cold, leaving the ninja-commando to try to move in on the larger group.

Wild Rose has posed:
The worled was ringing. To Riana, it was as if the entire planet had been turned into a giant bell, and someone had struck it, hard, right over her head. A blessed wave of silence hit her next, followed by a splitting headache and a wave of nausea. With some effort, she manages to hold back on losing her lunch.

But now she has another problem.

Without her hearing, she was going to have to rely more on vision as she dove into the fray. Oh, yes. She had seen Snake Eyes join the fight, and there was simply no way she was going to /not/ back up her friend and pupil.

She heads right for the larger group, coming up on two of them from behind. Those two, unless they hear her coming, may well feel themselves being picked up by the collar as if they weighed no more than a sack of feathers. "I would stand down if I were you," she growled.

June Connor has posed:
June doesn't know much about mutant powers, but she knows that most of the mutants she has faced have required some kind of focus if they use their minds to do things like melt metal. Solution? Don't give time for focus. As he puts his hand up to his head she follows up, reaching to grab him by the hair if able, and try to pull that head of hair into her knee viciously. Her movements are short and fast, observers who know their stuff in combat might see that she's not a master by any regards, but she's proficient, mixing formal moves with a taste of good ole street brawling. The knee? Yeah, definitely a brawler's move. Everyone else? Mostly ignored, they have a friggin angel to deal with, and June herself hasn't seen Snake Eyes yet.

Zach Daniels has posed:
Make that an angel who has his free hand (yay one handed sword grip) gripping one of the mooks he's fighting and takes off straight up, and goes at....oh a few hundred miles an hour. He pauses and hovers over the roof of a building, hen re-emerges over the street and opens his free hand. Insert cartoon whistling here. Zach's just hovering, watching. He's hoping for street pizza. For reference, he's dropped from about 800 feet up. Yeesh. Cruel, Zach. Nah he's no thou shalt not kill hero. He's a fallen effing angel, c'mon.

"Oh, sorry. My hand slipped" Zach shouts after the poor mook. He's not chasing him, nah. That'd ruin the point Zach's making...that he's a klutz with butterfingers and likes taking people to se the sights, if only for a few monents and oops, they slid out of his grip...

Snake Eyes has posed:
"Shoot them, already!" Melta Man yells to his goons as he moves to lift his hands towards June. One holds a gun, the other the power to melt metal. But then it's too late. He's grabbed and kneed in the head, his nose breaking and exploding in blood. Shouldn't be much fight left in him now.

Riana's goons freak out as they're grabbed. One drops his gun and says, "I give up!" The other starts spinning as much as he can, swinging his gun around to try to get a bead on his attacker.

Zach's guy? Well, eventually he'll hit the ground and splatter. It's gross.

Seeing Riana seems to have two of them under control Snake moves to intercept Melta Man. He turns the corner of the armored car and sees a young woman kneeing his target in the face. This has to be one of the easiest counter ambushes ever! Angel, super strong martial arts instructor and now some random do-gooder. What a great time to be alive. Just to make sure Melta Man can't do anything else Snake readies himself to strike should June not finish him off.

Wild Rose has posed:
One goon Riana's holding up gets tossed to the ground. The other remains held up in the air, but his gun hand is grasped by the redhead, with her fingers digging in hard between the bones of his forearm. "Put that thing down before someone gets hurt," she hisses. "I'd like to get home sometime this century."

Zach's guy, unfortunately, lands on the pavement right next to her.

     Eww.

Her shoes were going to take forever to come clean from that. Not to mention her jeans, from the splatter of brain matter and... other things.

June Connor has posed:
"How ya like it, bitch. You and I got some things to talk about." June grabs and reverses the gun with one hand, and in the end of her maneuver, she's holding it, and puts it against his head, shoving him down on his back on the hood of the car. "You wanna hang out here with your buddies? Or you wanna come with me?" Wait, aren't they supposed to be arrested? Maybe she's only kind of on the same side as everyone else.

Zach Daniels has posed:
Zach's hovering above the chaos, and looks down to it. He /could/ dive feet first again but given how that worked last time, nah. Instead he's circling the area making sure people are down and out of the fight, or at the very extreme end of things, very, very much dead. Ah it doesn't bother him he killed somebody.

It was for thee greater good, keeping him alive, come on.

He's too high in the air to do anything meaningful from up here, maybe drop a cable dish on the car, and get somebody furious their cable just cut out, but...but...

Nah. he's gonna stay up here and watch thanks. Thse granola bars won't eat themselves

Snake Eyes has posed:
"Ahhh! Fine! Just lemme go!" The gunman in Riana's arms finally yells, letting his weapon drop from his fingers and kind of just going limp.

June's able to take control of the situation with Melta Man quite easily. He stammers out, "Whatever doesn't get me shot!"

Snake looks on curiously at this development, but shrugs his shoulders and turns his attention towards the guards who'd had their guns melted. Reaching forward he takes the briefcase from them and walks towards where Dial-Tone had stopped their van. Opening the door he throws the briefcase inside and signs something at his partner before closing up the vehicle again. The soldier starts meandering back towards the bad guys, maybe looking to make sure that none of them get away. Unless kidnapped by that punk chick.

Wild Rose has posed:
Riana kicks the gunman's weapon away and towards Snake Eyes, calling out. "Snake! Incoming present for you" As soon as the gun is out of range of the goon she has in her hand, she gives the poor soul one more good shake to drive her point home, then drops him to the ground. He might twist an ankle on the way down, but it's far more likely his wits are injured than his body.

Though the man's words are muffled to her ears, and by now she is /not/ looking very well at all, Riana can figure out by context and a bit of lip reading the gist of what is being said. "I suggest you stay put. Capisce?"

Zach Daniels has posed:
Zach's done his part, and he's made street pizza, a job well done. Instead, Zach's...well, he's got places to be and things to do. Dipping a wing to the group, he climbs and heads off for...things, well, more, things starting with buy another bagel and cream cheese and stuff.

June Connor has posed:
June looks around, she has an audience, naturally. She's in the street, the traffic is stopped, and she has a gun to a man's head. "I'm such a shit ninja," she grumbles. She pulls Melta Man up by his shirt, the pistol's safety is flipped on, and she tucks it into the back of her jeans. She grabs another smoke pellet, and leans in. "Now I'm gonna burst this, and you're gonna melt the fuckin' drainage grate right there. Got it?" she asks through her teeth.

Snake Eyes has posed:
Scooping up the gun that was kicked his way, Snake Eyes quickly unloads it and tosses the ammunition away. Other weapons are dealt with similarly, until Snake's dropped a pile of guns on the ground which he straddles as he types on the tablet on his left forearm, "Is anybody seriously hurt, other than the guy who fell from the sky?" A wave is given to the angel, just to be friendly. Then another is sent towards the woman who's kidnapping a dude. Finally, a serious nod towards Riana and more typing on his device to make it spit out: "Great job."

As June throws her smoke pellet, Melta Man complies with her order, allowing them to make it down the drain.

Wild Rose has posed:
Riana can tell that Snake's tapping something out, but she can't make out a word of it. Holding up her hands helplessly, she shrugs, and gestures towards her ears. "What was that?" Her voice sounds fine to her, but to anybody within earshot, well, it sounds more like she's been caught up in artillery fire, with the corresponding rise in volume of one's own voice. Lovely. Just lovely.
