Synopsis: Jimmy is quick to tell Scott and Jean about Shannon handling herself in a bad situation. He also asks Jean to look for an old accquaintance he's concerned for.
Cast of Characters: Warpath, Phoenix, Cyclops

Warpath has posed:
Sitting the teacher's lounge for a few minutes, Jimmy thumbs through a few reports. He shakes his head at this one, nods at another, and a sigh when he studies yet another,"Reality for these kids..." he mutters darkly,"...right." He laughs humorlessly and moves on to another report,"At least the put something on paper."

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey is just finishing up her earlier project of setting up the class schedule and is walking into the lounge with her laptop hovering in front of her in a pink glow. One hand types, while the other holds a mug of coffee. Priorities and all.

"Good evening. I see I'm not the only one pulling the late night shift. What's on your plate?" She asks as she settles down in one of the plush chairs.

Cyclops has posed:
Following after Jean is Scott, who was helping her set the schedule up and giving some input here and there. She had it under control, but it was an excuse to spend time with her. He's looking relaxed as he settles in at the table next to her, giving a nod to James. "Evening." He says as he puts his phone away into his pocket after checking his email for the tenth time in two minutes. He's just waiting for the next big crisis.

Warpath has posed:
He puts another paper down and glances towards Jean and Scott in turn,"Evening. The usual really. Trying to sift through reports that were done, but not with any real involvement." he repliese. Coffee might smell good, but he's not really inclined to drink it as a general rule. Another report gets set aside for longer consideration later.

"I've actually wanted to talk to you and Scott about a few things if you wave the time." he adds and rests his hands on the table slince leaning on the table would require him to lean down more than would be comfortable,"I can work around either one on my own, but I wanted to run this by you anyway."

Phoenix has posed:
"It's the end of summer, I guess I can't blame them for not focusing. I still remember the struggle, I *still* have next semester dread." Jean grins at the recollection.

As there seems to be an important discussion afoot, she quickly saves her work and closes the lid of her laptop so she can look to Jimmy without distraction. "Of course we have time. I'm always around if someone needs to talk. What's on your mind?"

Warpath has posed:
"Maybe." he muses softly at the comment for not blaming them,"I can remember time in school as well. Some times were better than others." There is a hint of a smirk at the rememberance. Good times and memories.

"I took Shannon to the museum a few nights ago. In the course of the events to follow some crazy sorts decided to try and steal some of the pieces on display. I tried to let the security handle it. They couldn't so we ended up in it." he starts out.

Cyclops has posed:
Raising his brow, Scott leans back into his chair and folds his arms in front of him a bit. He gives a glance to Jean before looking back to James. "I saw something on the news about that. She came home injured from using her powers again. Another night in the med lab." He says with a thin press of his lips together.

"Which has become something of a concern to me of course, the amount of attention she gets in the med lab. It is required by school policy that we have to alert her parents each time she is injured. I'll admit I haven't shared /everything/ with them out of concern for both the school and their well-being."

Phoenix has posed:
"I did talk to her today too, just a few hours back. Found her laying on the grass reading one of Hank's biggest biology books." Jean says with a soft sigh. "Felt that it was a way she could stay out of trouble. I know she doesn't go looking for it, but trouble does find her more than the others."

"I feel for her. She has the same drive to do what she needs to do to help in the moment, the same as any of us. And just the same, publicity means the risk of more eyes on us. It's a no win scenario either way."

Warpath has posed:
He shakes his head and comments,"When all is said and done they have a lot of things to concentrate on. Two of the people there were surrounded by magic. A lot of magic." he comments,"Not that anyone can see that, but you needed to know that too."

"Shannon handled herself at the top of anyone's game. She took orders when given and thought freely and functionally on her own as well. I have to admit it, but I really hate the way her power works. We lost two because before I could chase them down I smelled her blood in the air. Two are still at large, but the rest were taken down by us or some of the others."

Cyclops has posed:
"Yes, her powers are definitely a challenge to be used in the field, which is why I am on the fence on how to deal with her upon graduation." Scott says with a frown upon his face. "Personally one of my goals would be to see her powers evolve in a way that she would not take injuries upon herself. I know she is bit by the superhero bug. But it would be irresponsible of me to take her into combat in any situation and rely on her. One goes down, she heals them, she goes down, we're out of a healer. She has been in the New Mutant program for two years, so what you described is a testament to Sam's abiliy to teach."

Rubbing a hand along his face, Scott has built up a few days of stubble upon it due to summer vacation and no classes in session. He doesn't have to look so tidy. "My big fear is that she is going to take someething on too risky, get hurt, and I will have to deliver bad news to her family. She's a walking lawsuit under most conditions. Parents trust us to keep their kids safe. I'm not training them, not even the New Mutants, to be soldiers. If they wish to become X-Men down the road after graduation and they are adults, I'm willing to entertain the idea."

Phoenix has posed:
"Well I'm glad to hear she was listening to your orders. That means she kept her head on and focused." Jean concurs with Scott. "But he's right. Until we can keep her own powers from reflecting back on her, combat isn't just a danger to her but a potential distraction for others. I'm fine with her continuing to work on finding alternatives, we know it's there because she's managed it before. It's just figuring out where that sweet spot is. I tried to impress on her that sometimes backing off and calling in support is a wiser option than rushing in."

She looks back towards Jimmy then and remarks, "So these thieves. Magic? So they're not the run of the mill sort. Were they with any group we're familiar with or that you recognized?"

Warpath has posed:
"I understand she is a trouble magnet. Not that she seeks it, but that it seems to seek her." he agrees and shrugs,"She's well trained and handled herself effectively. I wanted to two of you to know." He looks at his stacks of papers and considers the rest,"As for the thieves. They weren't the magic ones. Two of the people that seemed to be in charage at the museum were. One of them was probably as strong as I am if not moreso." Saying a lot.

"I have kept a very loose contact with Theresa Rourke. A mutant I think the two of you know of. We've kept our distance, but of late I haven't heard from or been able to track her in any way. I might need to take a trip over seas to make sure she is OK. If there is trouble for some reason I want to know if some of you will be able to aid me if she is in trouble."

Cyclops has posed:
"Of course. That's not an issue. Maybe see if Kurt wants to tag along. He's capable in the field and having a teleporter around is handy. He can speak a few languages as well." Scott says as he gives a nod of his head, followed by taking his phone out again to tap at the glass. Ah! An email. Wait. Spam.

He reclines back in the seat a bit. "What has Terry been up to? At least last when you spoke with her. Everything okay?"

Phoenix has posed:
"Thanks for letting us know. If you need help trying to track them, let me know." Jean says before mention of Siryn brings a knowing brightening to her face that quickly darkens with concern. "Of course we know her. I can go down to Cerebro to check on her, at least see if she's alright or in distress. This way we know where she is and if there's any trouble you need to prepare for."

Warpath has posed:
"Shannon tries harder than most. Despite not wanting to, she started training blades with me. She hated it, but she did it without arguing. I'd take ten students like her over a hundred others." he adds about Shannon.

He nods to Scott,"I'll hunt him down." he comments,"I can arrange a flight to go look for her." he adds after that. He sighs softly and he comments,"She went abroad to study and get her degree. We just haven't kept up like we should have. Recently I realized we haven't checked in for a while and the usual means haven't rendered any results." His attention focuses on Jean and he nods,"She'll probably strangle me for asking, but if you could do that I would appreciate it." It doesn't take Jean's abilities to see that Jimmy is more than a little concerned. Moreso than just friends as he tries to present himself right now.

Phoenix has posed:
"Absolutely. I can go do that now, I still have enough gas in me." Jean stands up from her chair with her laptop held under her arm. "As soon as I find out where she is, I'll come let you know. Standard protocol." She says down to Scott. "Give me an hour then come knocking. But I know that you'd know if I ran into any trouble."

And with a friend needing to be found, she makes her way for the door.

Cyclops has posed:
"Well, keep us in the loop if you hear anything, or need any help." Scott says as he rises up to his feet and pops a few joints in his back as he gives himself a stretch. "I need to attend to a few things, but my phone is always on." He gives Jean a warm smile, then nods to James as he turns and heads out the door, giving a frown at his phone.

"Have a good night. Stay safe."

Warpath has posed:
"Appreciated." he comments to the both of you and reaches for the reports again,"I'll be up for a while. Here or my room." He smirks a little and adds,"You'll know how to find me." He settles down to read again, grading is such fun.
