Cast of Characters: 1088, Athenaeum

Sienna Quinlan (1088) has posed:
Its a rather rainy day here in Metropolis park. Sitting under a gazebo is a young woman with red hair and violet eyes. To say she looks Distraught is like saying the rain that is falling is wet. The young woman may even have red tinted, puffy eyes. She shakes her head and just looks down at the ground.

"Who was that weird goat guy and what the heck did he mean?" She asks herself. "He tried to kill me!" She snaps and the bench catches fire. "Oh shit!" She quickly takes of her jacket and tries to put the flames out.

Athenaeum has posed:
The rain patters on a deep green umbrella as Ysabelle makes her way through the park. Most people seem to be on their way to someplace or other, even the joggers seem to be a bit faster in their desire to get out of the rain.

The young looking magician's dress matches her umbrella, green and conservatively cut. If it's silk, well, what's the harm with having /well made/ dresses? Burnt umber lipstick, and soft grey eyeshadow gives a depth to her otherwise stark white face.

Of course she just happens to nearby when Sienna sets the bench on fire. A single uttered syllable and the heat is sucked out of the flames, saving bench and thankfully, Sienna's jacket. "Are you alright Miss? You seem upset..." And to be making fire from nothing...

Sienna Quinlan (1088) has posed:
Sienna Quinlan looks up as the fire goes out. She blinks a few times, "You feel strange. Sorry. Don't mean to be rude." She winces. She can't help but observe what she is feeling about the woman. She felt the same thing when everything went crazy the other night. "I umm, I'm okay. I'm used to weird stuff happening around me. It seems like it has happened all my life. I just sorta brush it off or try to put out any fires that happen."

She sits back down and just puts her head in her hands. "The other day weird monster appeared and attacked me. Before it attacked though, It said something, It said it was time for me to understand. I don't get it."

Athenaeum has posed:
Ysabelle draws in a slow breath through her nose, her shoulders rising before she releases it into the water filled air. "Ah... A little new to this then?" Her smile is warm, maternal and caring. Putting the brolly away, she steps under the gazebo. "Do you mind if I sit? I think I can explain why I feel strange to you." It's all there in her aura after all... Even if Sienna hadn't just set the bench ablaze...

Sienna Quinlan (1088) has posed:
Sienna Quinlan looks at Ysabelle. She looks very confused. "Ummm, New to what?" at the other question, she shrugs, "Go ahead." The girl just looks down. Everything feels so off and its just starting to get to her.

"The other night, there was this girl with a staff and another person. I think they were using magic. It was weird. They were trying to talk to me and stuff but, I can't remember what all was said. I was so scared that I just can't remember."

Athenaeum has posed:
The oddly coloured woman moves under cover, taking a moment to smoothe her skirts as she sits. "It is very frightening at first. Especially if you're setting random things on fire." Her soft voice is thick with concern and... caring?

"But manners first, I am Ysabelle Orion, and in a way I am like you. I too can start fires, or, as you just saw, put them out." Her smile remains in place, her tone calm and soothing. "And what might I call you Miss?"#

Sienna Quinlan (1088) has posed:
Sienna Quinlan looks at the woman, "Weird stuff has been happening since I was a little girl. Its not just fires either." She frowns and shakes her head. "I really have no clue about all of whatever is going on."

She smiles, "Nice to meet ya Miss Orion. My name is Sienna Quinlan. My friends call me Quin. Wait... are you saying that fire was me?"

Athenaeum has posed:
Ysabelle nods a little, her smile turning compassionate. "It was." She holds up a hand, palm towards Sienna to forstall thought as well as speech. "But, you can learn to control it. You've seen all the new heroes popping up I take it?" She gestures off towards the city proper; "It's really not all that uncommon these days."

Sienna Quinlan (1088) has posed:
Sienna Quinlan Frowns and shakes her head. "Are you kidding me! I could have killed someone! I could have really hurt people. This has been happening for so long, why didn't anyone tell me! Thats something thats sorta important. Ya know? Like Mom teaching me how to put on a bra and 'oh yeah you can do magic!'" She sighs and a gust of wind blows through the gazebo. "Let me guess. That was me too?"

Athenaeum has posed:
"Not everything is you." Ysabelle smiles brightly, trying to suppress a giggle at the way that Sienna describes the way she should be taught. "Most don't develop powers on their own Miss Quinlan, and it isn't even genetic from what I can see. You would have needed another Magician or powered person to happen on you." She pauses, frowns a little and adds; "And then take the time to actually /tell/ you."

Sienna Quinlan (1088) has posed:
Sienna Quinlan frowns, "But... You can't tell me something didn't appear a little off? My parents had to have seen something! They had to know something. They literally just ignored everything and left me to think I'm cursed or something with bad luck!' She sighs and shakes her head. "I wanted to just be a normal girl! Is that so much to ask?!"

Athenaeum has posed:
The snow-white woman's look is one of understanding. "No, it isn't. And yet, yes, it is. Normal for us, is not normal for most people. There is a price for being able to do great things, and that price is your first faltering steps."

Turning her palm up to the sky, Ysabelle conjours a flame, it twists and spurts and otherwise leaps about chaotically. "Magic, like all forces, starts unrefined. And like magic, you too are an unrefined version of what you can become." A single word, a word long dead, a word still very much alive, as the result is instant, the flame calms, a single candle in the palm of her hand. "When you have control, the tool becomes useful. And far less dangerous, to yourself and others."

The flame winks out, Ysabelle's eyes returning to Sienna's purple ones. "Try not to blame your parents too harshly, after all, they didn't know either. At least they kept you, I have met several that were put into those awful Insane Asylums..."

Sienna Quinlan (1088) has posed:
Sienna Quinlan watches the flame. Its really interesting to her given the fact that she just ignited the bench a few moments before. When she starts manipulating it, she just smiles. "I think, I understand. So I need to learn to control it. The weird things seem to happen when I get emotional. Like there was this bully who was trying to run a fork into my eyes. She accused me of wearing contact lenses and wanted me to take them out. A pipe broke above us and she got soaked with water. I didn't get wet at all."

She sighs a little. "True I guess. That would be horrible. Plus I may have burned a place like that down without thinking about it." She shutters.

Athenaeum has posed:
"I do hope the people got out alright." It's not a question, if they didn't, then Sienna would likely already be upset enough about it. And if they did, well then it didn't matter did it?

"Control is key, subtlety is a Mastery for later." Ysabelle offers with a smile. "I won't lie though, learning the Arts is a slow, difficult process. And it's something you have to dedicate yourself to, I mean, if you go to school then that's fine, but these studies will save your life." Though the smile is still there, there's an earnest quality to that last comment. It's a literal meaning.
