Synopsis: Buffy and Duncan spoke about weapons and such things. Finished with a quick dinner.
Cast of Characters: Duncan MacLeod, Buffy Summers

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
The shop is inside the last hour of operating for the night. There is a young man, blonde curly hair sitting at the main counter, reading a magazine. A few people are looking at the displays and a woman helps them here and there. At the back of the room, Duncan is at a lighted work station studying something under a magnifying glass.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers was curious to check out the antiques store she had heard so much about. Of course that required a little trip across the border and it's a good thing that Giles had given her a ride, as he had a few things to pick up for the Magic Box on this side of town too.

So she wanders in, noting the time, peering at wide eyed awe at all the cool antiques. This is where Thomas had acquired her birthday present not too long ago. Perhaps she can find some other antique weapons too?

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
When the blonde bombshell enters, the curly haired young man fall backwards out of his chair. He really does need to keep it on four legs. Poor Willow saw something similar when she happened through some time back. Duncan doesn't even look back at the door as he sighs,"You really need to get a date Richie." he mutters. Buffy might hear that.

The other staffer looks over at his crash and then at you. She nods to Buffy and tells her,"I'll be with you in a minute." Going back to her customer Buffy is given the OK to look around as she wants.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers quirks a curious brow at the blonde male, looking faintly amused at his reaction but pays him no more attention. Glancing at the front desk, she recognizes Duncan from only a handful of meetings and she smiles, "Oh hey! It's Duncan, right?" she nods and smiles, "Sure thing." and she continues to wander about the store, peering this way and that.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
Hearing a somewhat familiar voice, Duncan takes off the magnifiers and turns the light off as well. He looks back over his shoulder and turns towards the sound of her voice. Recognition crosses his features and he replies,"Duncan it is. How are you Miss Summers?"

He moves around the somewhat splayed body of Richie and sighs at him as he passes by. Moving to her general area he asks,"How can I help you tonight?"

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers smiles. Ah yes, there he is. Good guess maybe. She had heard about his store at any rate. "Good to see you again, it's been a while." she shrugs, "Hmmm not sure yet, although you have so much cool stuff here! I feel like I need to buy a quaint little old lamp for my room since my last lamp had an unfortunate accident.."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He considers the room for a few moments and then indicates a glass display case. Stopping at that one he starts with one that is a little strange to view,"Mid-Century Asian Reticulated." he offers and turns it around for you to look at,"I have a few others, but this one is the most...unique for its look. I have some older ones."

He lets you take a moment to look at it,"I might have a few obscure weapons if you want to see them." he adds,"Thomas said you liked weapons. One is very different, but I'll bet you would like it."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers honestly doesn't know much about antiques. Or lamps, except that you plug em in and they make things bright. So sue her. "Ooh, that's really pretty! I've seriously never seen something like that before!" she smirks, "But this looks expensive...Breakable too right? I uh, have a tendency to break things."

Yeah, don't ask! As for weapons, she smiles faintly at the memory of Thomas' latest birthday present for her. Though her smile fades as she realizes she hasn't even seen him in a week. "Oh..Right. Weapons are always good. Got anything really cool and obscure? I could really do with a small portable cross bow."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"It is expensive yes, very breakable." he replies with a shrug,"I happen to know this guy who has good credit with me and since he's more or less attached to you..." he comments with a shrug. He lets you decide on that and he hmms softly,"I don't have a crossbow to speak of, but that's something you want a little more up to date as opposed to older."

A thoughtful frown and he motions you to follow him,"Come with me. We'll go down to the metal forge for a minute. I haven't put this out for just anybody and it might suit you and might not." He looks at Richie as the two of you move towards the stairs,"Balance yourself." he tells him and Richie looks at you once and then back at his magazine, not going to stare at the hottie. Not gonna stare at the hottie.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers smiles, "Oh no, this is just for me, don't wanna rely on someone else's money for everything." right, she's super i defendant and all Afterall, "It's pretty though I should probably look fir something more...Durable." but she nods and follows him towards the stairs, "Ooh metal forge? Sooo what, you make weapons here too?"

She does quirk a curious brow at Richie, giving him a slight bemused smile.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
Downstairs there are two propane powered, three burner forge,"I don't have too many durable lamps." he admits and leads you past the work bench and anvil,"I've made weapons in the past yes." he replies.

Moving past this, he reaches under a table and pulls out a large towel. He lays it on the nearby table and unwraps it. What he reveals is a hunga munga. It isn't a common weapon and likely she has seen one before, but on furthur inspection she notes unusual patterns in the metal.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers oohs, following him down and looking around, "Wow, this is amazing! it must be so incredible, being able to forge your own weapons." she smiles, "I wonder how long that takes?"

But he continues on and she follows after him, peering this way and that. "Huh...Do t think I've seen one of these before, it seems kinda...Awkward, but the pattern is pretty interesting. Are there advantages to this design?"

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"It can take a while yes." he admits,"It depends on what you use as far as forging material." There is a smile and he picks up the weapon,"It does look awkward. You aren't wrong."

He turns towards a large padded target on the wall. Throwing a weapon is difficult. Throwing this one would probably be almost impossible. He raises it, takes a half step forward and the weapon sails easily and buries into target with ease,"Throwing a weapon isn't easy. This one makes it a little easier since it can stick in multiple ways."

He looks at the pattern and nods,"Rain drop damascus. Rare on anything other than a straight blade really. The pattern is very difficult to obtain in something not straightt."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers oohs, "Interesting! May I?" and if he's okay with it, she reaches for a knife, just to hold it in her hand and feel the weight and balance. She's thrown knives before but not like this style. But she is a shockingly quick learner. When she those it, it lands a hair's breadth from his own knife in the target. "Ooh, nice weight to it." she grins as if she does this all the time.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
Watching her thoughtfully he nods when she asks to try the monster weapon. He smiles a little as she manages to stick it on the first try and tells her,"Very good. If a man didn't know better he'd think there was some serious secrets over there." he teases softly.

He looks at the monster piece again and says,"I don't know if you would want it to carry with you places, but in a cornered rat situation with your back to the wall it is a serious weapon and can defend from multiple attackers just because of its design."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers grins and shrugs, "What can I say? Lucky shot?" still, she goes to retrieve bith, brushing her fingertips over them thoughtfully "Well, I cant say they're terribly pretty to look at but they seem pretty effective in combat. Although, I am specify ally looking for a mechanism that can fire bolts..Wooden stakes in particular, but small enough that I can mount on my wrist and still wield a p other weapon, y'know?" okaaay, Esther she's an over eager Games hunter or weapons enthusiast.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:

There is a soft chuckle and he shakes his head,"For the discerning customer." he tells you lightly. There is a soft sigh and he admits,"I can't say that I have anything quite like that, but I have an idea what you want. It might be outside my forging abilties, more moving parts than I'm used to, but I might know a guy that knows a guy."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a brow, "Oh yeah? So what're we talking about, exactly? Can your friend make a custom mini hand-mounted crossbow, or am I totally out of my league here?" she did end up retrieving the knives, studying them thoughtfully, "Although in all honesty, I could still use one of these...I wonder how strong it is, Yknow, can it, uh, cleave heads? Does it come with a sheath?" oh. Right. Hopefully he doesn't think she's like, Yknow, a serial killer or something.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"I'll make some calls and see if we can get one made all steel." he comments,"If not we'll make sure the maving parts a damascus and the rest is apaton or wood. It'll cost you, but it'll be tougher than anything you can think of."

He looks at the hunga munga and nods,"It'll will cleave a head off the shoulders easy enough." he admits and studies her for a time,"As far a sheath goes it's more like a battle axe weapon. No good way to sheathe it other than just wrap it in leather or heavy heavy fabrics."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers smiles, "Cool! I...Err, I guess it'll cost a small fortune, but my weapons need some upgrading anyways. It's a lot of work, uh, hunting...Big..,Deeer, carrying around a lot of weaponry!" oh yes, she's probably totally suspicious now.

"Sooo what's the deal, mild mannered antique dealer upstairs, badass weapon smith downstairs?"

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"Big deer?" he muses softly and shrugs,"What can I tell you? After the subway ride with Nick I'll believe about anything once. He frowns thoughtfully and walks over to a table,"I haven't been a weapon smith in a while, but I can yes. Mostly I sell antiques and try to make a decent living."

Judging by the way he looks, dresses, and the condition of the building he probably does very well for himself. He carries something over to you and he admits,"As weapons go I really don't need too many, but I bought this from a guy trying to pay his bills. It's worth about $150. I bought it for $100 and will sell it to you for the same. I don't need it and maybe your deer will feel this."

Latching it to his wrist the contraption looks like an advanced Spirder-Man web shooter. When he turns towards an area that has nothing in it he triggers it and it shoots a short fire ball into the air,"Up close it might cook something and certainly throw a deer off is game."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a curious brow. "Subway ride with Nick..? What happened?" she does peer at the weapon though and grins, "Ooooh nifty! Can I give it a try..?"

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"Nothing much really." he replies as he takes the illusion trick/potential weapon off his wrist and hands it to you,"It'd be a way to get the nasty deer off you if it closed in." he plays along a moment longer.

"We went down the line a little way. Some people went crazy. No matter how crazy you are, you don't turn to dust when a drum stick gets stabbed into your heart." he comments flatly. He's seen the two of you together enough to know that, judging by what you are saying about weapons earlier and "deer hunting" that probably you know a little more than average, plus the training area in the Magic Box he's heard about.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers laughs nervously, "Oh..Right! The...Nasty deeer...The mean, vicious..Deer, wouldn't want to piss off and angry buck wuth those horns, right?" more nervous awkward chuckle although she takes the weapon and pouts it at a target board and aims, spewing g off a little fireball...Hmm it sure would be helpful when up against a vampire, or cornered. "Oooh I like! Sure, I'll take this..And the Hunga Munga thingie. How much was it selling for again?"

She narrows her eyes at the dust thing. "Ohh...lReally? Uh, you sure you weren't..Lacking sleep or something..?" Yup, totally oblivious here, like..lTotalky!

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He looks at the fire prjector and the hunga munga. He rubs his jaw thoughtfully and admits,"I don't have a need for the hunga munga. If you think you will I'll tell you what. You take the fire projector and the hunga munga for $300 American. The crafting alone on the weapon is worth that, but I have set on it for a while and want it moved. Deal?"

He laughs softly and tells you,"Miss Summers Nick trusts you so I am going to trust you. He speaks highly of you and so does Willow and Pru. Nick and I killed vampires. I was older than all of them too." Let that break her little brain for a minute.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers hmms, and looks at the two weapons, biting her lip thoughtfully. "Ooh, well...I guess I did recently get paid..so sure! It's a deal." she smiles, "Do you take debit..?" she pauses as he fully admits the vamp thing..And the shocker, that he's older than vamps. Or those vamps. "Uh..Really? How old exactly did you say you were..l?" she peers curiously at him now..

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He walks over to the window and sticks his hand into the sunlight,"No funny ideas." he tells you and then motions towards a table with two chairs. Once you take a seat he does the same.

He rests his hands on the table,"I was born in Scotland in 1592." he replies to you,"There are several more like me in the world. We're not vampires and I'd appreciate if you didn't ask since everyone else seems to. It stands to reason that I can't die sinec I am over four hundred years old."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers stares at him as he walks i Er to the sun, half expecting his hand to burst into flames...But it doesn't. "Oh! That was...Youre...Uh.." she does the math and.."Over 400 years...Old..? How? Why? Is that..What are you, if you're not a vamp..?" eyes narrow for a moment, eyeing him warily, tensing slightly. He might not be a vamp, doesn't mean he's not another type of demon. Who would love to get his claws into the slayer no less.,

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He smiles a little and shakes his head,"Nobody really knows exactly what people like me are other than immortal and locked in an eternal struggle. There is only one way for me to be killed and you'll forgive me if, for the time being, I keep that to myself." He doesn't miss suspicion as he's been reading people for more years than she can imagine,"There were two in my family and nobody really seems to have located a rhyme or reason. There are many that are older than me by a great deal." That will give her some dream material for a while.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers blinks slowly, "...Huh. Can't say I ever met a..Someone like you before. Usually it's only demons that can live so long, but.." But this warrants some major research. Annnd, well Nick seems to trust him at least, so he can't be that bad? "Well, alright, guess I wasn't expecting that but for now, you don't seem hostile, and my demon sense isn't tingling soooo maybe I can trust you?" she smirks, "sorry, but I've had all manner of demon come after me in the past. But geez, not being able to die, that's gotta be harsh.."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"Probably not. Even if you did, it is unlikely they would have mentioned that they were like me." he concedes with a shrug,"We've been in this world since before recorded time." he continues,"I know one of mine who is over 4000 years old and actually met Christ. Not saying they were friends, just met." he explains.

There is a shrug and he admits,"As far as trust goes, I have time. A lot of it." he admits,"As far as not dying goes, it's got its up side and down side. So far as I'm aware of there's no demonic connections."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers frowns a bit. "Wow..Soo you're saying there are others like you? What e a fly *are* you, if you're nit human and not demon..Some sorta sorcerer?" she shrugs and smirks, "Maybe you have forever but I don't. But looks like most people I know are some sort of anomaly or other.." she chuckles, "Guess the rumours are true, I just seem to draw all the anomalies, don't I?"

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"Oh yes. There are more like me. Your friend Willow doesn't know it, but she saw one of them when she came through here a few weeks back." he tells you with a shrug,"I don't know anything about magic, but she does. She showed me a little bit."

He laughs softly at the last bit and shrugs,"You do have some interesting friends from what I have seen. At least two magic wielders for sure and not sure exactly what Nick's game is, but he's not normal to my figuring. Everyone has secrets."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a brow, "Oh did she?" she smiles and nods, "Yes, Willow is a very gifted witch. So are..Some other friends of mine. Some of them have more..Unique abilities, nit exactly sure what Nick is honestly. I should consider myself lucky though. At least they're allies."

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"He seems like a good man and more to him than meets the eye." he agrees and looks over the shop, considering,"It's getting towards dinner. I'm not sure you're ready to face my cooking, but there are some good restaurants nearby if you aren't in a hurry."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers smiles and nods, "Hes a bit of a mystery and I haven't seen him in a while, but I know he's always got my back, and I really appreciate that." at the idea of dinner, she smirks a bit. Buffy doesn't know him that well, but it *is* getting late and she is getting pretty hungry. "Well..I suppose a little food couldn't hurt this late at night. I dunno this place that well, got anywhere in mind?"

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He nods and starts towards the stairs again,"I know an Italian place that isn't far from here. The food is great, the atmosphere is laid back, and it is the definition of a hole in the wall. Only the locals know about it." He nods to Ritchie at the top of the steps,"Lock up and call it a night." With that the two of you are off to the restaurant and conversations that aren't super natural in nature.
