Starfire has posed:
"I understand. But as of right now, this is not the place that this is happening right now."

This was said to Kori, into a communicator strapped at her hip. Pursing her lips, the young Tamaranean surveys the cityscape, bringing up her hand to scratch at the side of her neck from where she hovered - a slice of pizza in her free hand, brought up to her lips for an idle nibble.

This was an odd place to be observing, anyways - a suburb of Metropolis, full of wonderful family homes and big buildings and other sorts of corporations. "Are you certain that the bank robbery will happen in this area? This place seems very quiet and most peaceful," says Koriand'r - floating a little ways down a side alley.

This was the nicer part of town, but...

This particular area - behind the Sportsman's stadium, was just a little more run-down. Lots of alleys, lots of places that one can get lost. And Kori was probably drawing more than a few glances, hovering as she was along the crowd.

Dipping her head as she glides into an alleyway, there was an area that blossoms out into a loading dock - perhaps for the stadium. Star pauses a moment in her hovering, bringing up a hand to kinda tap the earpiece that was a part of her communicator. It was full of static. "Hello? These are not words, this is a sound," she says, her tone of voice tightening.

And those in the area sensitive to such things may be able to feel the laylines beneath this part of the alley shift - something magical was afoot.

Wonder Girl has posed:
Time for the Mid Day Run! Cassie Sandsmark had spent much of her morning in training. How she missed for the softer (by comparrison) floorless training areas of Themyscira. Getting a beating there still hurt but jeez does a hard marble floor hurt!" She doesn't exactly have much in the way of bruising. Any of that would have already healed.

Quietly she runs by the bank, just taking in the day. When she catches sight of the flying orange girl, she simply raises a hand and waves. Her pace slows. Something feels a little off. She's not magic by any stretch of the word but she is linked to several deities. What she feels is a tightness and its almost sickening. "Ooof okay what the heck... Did I eat some bad Moussaka?" She shakes it off and moves to look around. The young blonde is actually in uniform. Well as close to what her uniform is. Steel bracers, Lasso on her belt, Wonder logo on a red shirt and a pair of jeans. Yup. She's as ready as anything.

Starfire has posed:
Perhaps Cassie did eat some bad Moussaka. Perhaps she did not. The static in Kori's earpiece continnues, Starfire making a wincing sort of face as she reaches a hand up to yank the thing out of her ear - and it 'pops' in her hand, smoking. And no sooner can Starfire gaze down at it that a yellow blast arches up from the street and strikes her, knocking her against the side of one of the buildings in this little loading dock area.

People walking by could see into it, but they'd have to turn their head and glance that way, so tight was the turn into the alley.

Regardless of these things... Kori hits the side of the stadium, and kinda tumbles downward in a heap of marmalade limbs. And where did the source of the magic come from?

A hooded man, in long brown robes - religious symbols of all types sewn into the robes proper.

Stepping forward towards the dazed Tamaranean, creatures stumble out of a portal after him - misshapen things that might, perhaps, look like gargoyles - muscular and feral, with horns and twisted beaks that don't quite hold the fierce features and infernal demeanor of demons.

More homunculi. Perhaps. Perhaps not.

"Didn't think there would be anyone around here..." he murmurs to one of the creatures - a smaller version of the four or five lumbering around him. The creature barks at him, little high pitched noises. "Do you think they know? Do you think they intend to stop us? Best to kill her, to make sure..."

Wonder Girl has posed:
The blonde watches in shock as the orange girl goes flying. She winces a little. Then there is a creature and a and a hooded figure. If thats not enough, she can hear them talking about kiling the orange girl! She can't let that go. In a dash, she takes off and is standing between Koriand'r and the strange man with the monster.

"How about no! No you are not going to kill her. In fact you're going to go back to what ever corner of the underworld you came from. You can go the easy way or, The REALLY easy way." Her body is already in a fighting stance. She's ready to take these beings on. "Pick your poison punks!" She smiles mischievously.

Starfire has posed:
The creatures - the one on his shoulder was smaller, but the gargoyles, for lack of a better term, were about the size of a person. And there were four or five of them. Making strange inhuman clicking and yowling noises from their beaks, they kinda rumble forward on their arms, surrounding the man in brown.

His hood hangs over his head still - but a greenish light shone beneath his eyes.

"More heroes? Villains?" he muses. "I suppose it does not matter. The only thing that matters is if... they are in my way." Holding up his hand, he makes a gesture - middle and forefingers tucked in, and makes a sweeping gesture to his side, and points towards Cassie.

"Did you wish to die as well?" he adds, his voice low - cracked. One of the strange creatures leaps up into the air, surprisingly quickly - hoping to land on Cassie - grab her shoulders and bite her shoulder. And it was very, very heavy.

Wonder Girl has posed:
Cassie Sandsmark raises an eyebrow. "That might be a lot harder then you think." She snickers, "I'm in your way and I'm not moving!" Then everything goes a little crazy. when the weird creather comes flying at her, she swings at it, missing. It gets its claws onto her and tries to bite her. Her body is very dense. They do manage to puncute a little. With a quick movement takes hold of the creature and whips it towards the man who is threatening to kill her.

"You've chosen the Really easy way." She shakes off the slight red that is trickling down her arm. She takes off toward the man and his creatures and is ready to start punching. "Umm Orange person you should probably get up soon. If its not too much trouble!" She calls out as she swings at the first thing she comes to. She is exercising a lot of restraint as she doesn't know if this is some powered individual or if its just a normal human.

Starfire has posed:
Lucky for the man, the creatures themselves were quite dense - and they shuffle into the way of the charging woman smoothly. Well. The one that Cassie had whipped around and thrown back at him, at least - one of the other creatures is struck by the flying one, and they both topple over.

And the man starts taking a few steps back, murmuring under his breath. "Another time, perhaps..." he murmurs to himself, the green of his glowing eyes growing brighter as he steps back into a portal that he has generated, the creature on his shoulder giving one last caw as it disappears.

That leaves the other larger ones, crowding around Cassie. When her fist connects, it does lift them up - they actually crumble, like stone, when hit. And the two that she had thrown together were now a barely animate pile of rubble, flopping over themselves.

The remaining one screeches, and steps forward with a swipe of its claws.

And it misses, no doubt.

But Starfire herself starts to murmur, her own bright green eyes blinking awake. "Hello and good morning?" she says, her voice still groggy.

Wonder Girl has posed:
Cassie watches as the guy tries to escape. She grabs her lasso and tries to get in position to catch the guy but, no luck. "Okay then!" She lifts off the ground and gets herself some room. She quickly throws the lasso at the stone monster and yanks it tight. The creature is promptly pulls up from the ground.

"Rise and Shine, Orange!" She states with a little wave before her attention goes back to the creature. "Now then, This is not Wonder Woman's lasso of Truth. No. This is Wonder Girl's Lasso of Lightning, Let me explain to you how this works. I get mad, you get zapped. I'm a little annoyed right now. So, You're going to tell me who the man was and why he was trying to kill innocent people?"

Starfire has posed:
Starfire pauses a few moments, letting her eyes track from the creature to Wonder Girl, and back again. Kicking off of the ground, she starts floating a bit, her hands filling with green starfire. "Are we... safe?" she asks, tilting her head to the side as she frowns down at the creature. "Is this what attacked me?"

The creature, for its part - caught in the lasso - opens its beak up and screeches at Wonder Girl - struggling against the ropes of the lasso. Did it even speak English? Regardless, it was moving still, although the ends of its clawed fingers seemed to be stiffening up - turning to stone out of the man in brown's presence.

Wonder Girl has posed:
Cassie Sandsmark glances up and smiles to Starfire, "Oh yes! I got it. The guy and his other pets are either gone or smashed on the ground. It was one of the things that attacked you. I was just trying to get information from it since its the last of them." Then it starts turning fully to stone.

"Oh no no no!" She sighs, "GAH!!!" The lasso sparks and sends lightning through the now stone creature, shattering it. "Sorry about this. I was hoping for more info. The guy jumped in a portal to somewhere. No information at all. Except that he wanted to kill anyone in his way. That was you and then me."
