Cast of Characters: Rage, Archangel, Mia Renault, Red

Rage has posed:
It's a beautiful mid-morning in New York City and as usual, Manhattan is bustling with energy on a Sunday. Tourists are out in force, busy with shopping and the sounds of traffic is loud and lively.

At the top of her Penthouse is Andrea, who is currently waiting on her guest. She let him know he can arrive via wings or car and that the flight deck is wide open for landing if he wanted to come in on the Fall currents. In the living room there is several plates of breakfast danishes as well as several coffee dispensers with a bowl of multiple creamers and sugars.

The popstarlet is dressed in a pair of designer low hung jeans and a baggy NYU sweater along with a pair of wolf slippers that 'bark' when she walks around. She has only a hint of make up on and her hair is styled in a current swoop and bob. There is music playing in the surround sound speakers, a bit of 80's pop in the form of Madonna's Like a Prayer album.

Archangel has posed:
Not an official member of the X-Men these days, Warren spends his time helping others with his philanthropic organisation. Today he was heading to meet with a certain world-famous pop star who he was in talks with about a clinic for people who can't afford good health care. He figured he might as well stop by the mansion and see if any students wanted to tag along and meet her.

Opting not to fly today, he instead had his driver take Mia and himself into the city to Andrea's new apartment. When the car arrives, he steps out onto the street and holds the door for Mia before heading up in the lift to the penthouse. He's dressed in his usual grey suit that is clearly tailored and fits his form very well, covering his wings.

When they reach the door to Andrea's place, he stops and offers Mia a smile and a nod, then knocks.

Mia Renault has posed:
Mia is a quiet soul during the trip in to Manhattan. Mostly taking in the view through the window as things roll by. A worldly person of sorts, Mia still seems curious about this trip, not having been in the States for long.

A quiet "Thank you." is observed as the philanthropist gets the car door for her. Following him in to the ritzy upper class building, she takes on a more formal pose, hands clasped behind her back, a slight smile on her lips. Rocking slightly back and forth on her feet as he knocks.

Mia is not dressed up. She has on simple low hung jeans with shredding and flat out holes in certain 'artistically chosen' spots typical for a teenage girl. A simple black to pin fade t-shirt knotted at one side, exposing both the belly piercing and waist chain. A pair of well worn hiking boots on her feet. Mia seems not at all concerned about her appearance.

Rage has posed:
At the sound of the knock, Andrea steps out of her wolf slippers and nudges them next to the couch, then tugs on a pair of ankle socks instead. Glancing at her phone, she launches her security app to ensure that the guests arriving are those who are planned for and not random people trying to sell something, then head over to the door.

There is three bolts that are unlocked, followed by a tug of the heavy door that is steel and reinforced. It just looks like a normal door from the outside. At the sight of Warren, her smile brightens. "Hey, wings! It's so good to see you again!" The Xavier alumni says as she steps forward to give him a hug, then gives a smile to Mia, then a wave over to Alice that she recognizes from classes.

"Come on in. I have breakfast and coffee catered in this morning. Handmade by my chef, Jafar. He just left so we can speak business."

Red has posed:
New York, or rather Brunswick, had been Alice home for most of her life. And probably one might even see her borough from Andrea's apartment, yet that wasn't why she was there. No, she was there with Warren, and to a lesser degree as the helping hand that had made Dazzler's costume for the tour. At least some of it.

As she hitched a ride with Mia and Warren, she follows them up, chucling a little as she dusts off her jacket a moment, then makes sure her tartan skirt was sitting properly, leaving that two finger wide gap of skin to a paor of boots that was utterly impossible, unless it was molded right onto her legs. Because, honestly, that was the fact. No hooks, no looks, no string, just faux leather all the way from the tips to like half a foot into her thighs. "Now, you promised breakfast Mr. Worthington?" she notes, just s the door flies open.

Archangel has posed:
His gaze turning from Mia towards Alice, Warren offers the young woman a smile and a nod, "If I know Andrea, she'll have a full spread of all the breakfast foods you can imagine." He winks at her just as the door opens and turns to see the starlet. "Good morning!" he offers with a bright smile.

Motioning for Alice and Mia to enter before him, he follows them in and takes a look around the penthouse, giving an approving nod, "Incredible place, Andrea." He steps over to the windows and looks out over the city, resting his hands in the pockets of his pants before he turns, having forgotten the introductions. "Andrea, I believe you know Alice, correct?" He looks from Andrea to Alice and then to Mia, "But Mia, I believe you may not have met yet. She's in her second year at the school. Mia, this is Andrea. Only one of the most famous people on the planet." He shoots a glance back to Andrea and winks at her.

Mia Renault has posed:
Mia Renault slips in ahead of Warren as he indicates, stepping expertly out of her hiking boots, using her feet and nudges them against the wall next to the 'vault' door. Eyeing the thickness and composition with a brief mutter of "I can take it." Turning towards the room, she nods in agreement. It's a nice place.

Mia waves slightly at the introductions, though her eyebrows are raises and her eyes flitting in no particular direction as she searches her memory for any and all famous Andrea she may know. She squints at Andrea, then looks back to Warren, "Famous.... how?" Oops, she said it.

Indicating the food spread, and already realizing the creation of a moment, awkward or otherwise, she points at it and quickly exits, "I'm just going to .... grab... some coffee. Yes."

Rage has posed:
"Hey Alice. Hey Mia." Andrea says as she motions them in, then closes the door behind them. She locks the three bolts behind them, then follows after. "I hope you guys enjoy breakfast. I really tried hard to find something everyone should like."

"I'm excited to meet with you today, Warren. I have all the paperwork that my lawyers have sent over and I think the management did a great job of laying everything out for the clinic. We have a place picked out and I have at least one staffer in play that can help."

As she takes a seat on the couch, she folds one leg over the other, then reaches for her coffee mug on the stand next to it. "Oh. I'm a singer. Did some acting also." She says to Mia.

Red has posed:
Alice chuckles at Mia's obliviousnes. "Andrea just had a top ten album and had a tour with Dazzler." she helfully chimes, swiping her boots quite carefully to make sure they were clean on the soles, because taking those off? No way! Not now! "I think we more saw each other from afar than talked, Miss Jackson." She offers her hand, a smile and then follows the others into the flat, whistling a little.

"Apparently, the album allows you to pay this ludicious expensive flat... I mean, I can see the Hudson from the good side! But don't fear, I'm easy to pleased eating wise. "

Archangel has posed:
Warren lifts a brow as Mia seems to not know who Andrea is. "Huh." Both brows raise and his lips purse in an expression of surprised acceptance. Then his attention returns to Andrea upon the mention of their venture. "Very glad to hear it," he says as he rests his hands behind his back. "The clinic is a wonderful idea and I think it will be able to do a lot of good for a lot of people."

He heads towards the breakfast setting and grabs a croissant, tearing it in half and taking a bite. Mid-chew, he looks back to Andrea, "Existing structure or are you thinking of new construction for the place?"

Mia Renault has posed:
Mia's attention is mostly on the coffee. She grins at the layout and begins making a concoction: Coffee, Irish creamer, whipped cream, mocha shavings - and a straw. No sugar needed. Picking it up, she sips at it and smiles, eyes closed. "Smooth...."

Clasping the cup in both hands as if warming herself with it, she picks a balcony spot not in use but also not to far away, first watching the view towards the river, then back to Warren and Andrea. Squinting again at Andrea...

A silent "Oh" forms on her lips. ~That Andrea~. She grins, an unlikely noticed apologetic shrug as she takes another sip of her drink. Leaning over the balcony to take the traditional look down, she keeps her ears open, catching bits and pieces of the conversation.

Rage has posed:
"Technically, Dazzler was on my tour. I invited her to join me in support of her comeback. After her record label tossed her out for being a mutant, I wanted to give her a show of solidarity. It went really well too. I think my label is going to sign her so that she can work on her music again and not be afraid of being casted out for being a mutant."

Andrea takes a long sip from her mug, giving a smile as she savors the taste. Smooth indeed. "I am thinking an existing building. Right in the heart of Mutant Town. I don't want to create a wave of gentrification in that area and I want the mutants who live there to feel comfortable and not overwhelmed with stainless steel and glass. But, I do want to make sure it's secure. State of the art security after hours and I want to employ a security guard during on hours. With how the Friends of Humanity have been taking pokes in the neighborhood, I don't want them to have an easy way of attacking those who are in need of help."

She watches Mia head over to the deck, giving her a quick smile before she looks to Warren and shrugs her shoulders. "If you need anything, let me know. The fridge is open if you want anything else."

Red has posed:
Alice snickers a moment as she works on her own drink, just plain coffee, black as the night in the largest cup she can find, and then gahtering herself some brakfast... which most ertainly is anything but vegan. Bacon, fried eggs and butter go onto a roll, then joined by some roastbeef... If its offered, why not take it?!

"Mind not using the word Mutant? It's derogative. It's much nicer to call ourselves X-gene carrier or X-positive. I man, that's an entirely different vibe." she notes back to Andrea, balancing the plate and mug to a good spot to look out from but still catch what the teach and Andrea has to talk, because she's a collegian and full adult. One that already had earned real money with real work! Well, art. Costume making.

"Established infrastructure saves a lot, especially with highrises."

Archangel has posed:
Popping the other half of the croissant into his mouth, Warren snatches up a napkin and wipes the crumbs from his fingers. Nodding over to Andrea, he finishes chewing this time before he speaks. "Makes sense," he says, grabbing a cup and filling it with coffee.

He blows the steam away from the cup as he steps back into the living area and looks between the students and the pop star, "Whatever you need, I have you covered. Whatever the expense."

He steps over towards the balcony near Mia and glances over the edge at the street below, "Not a bad view, yeah?" He turns and rests his back against the balcony rail and folds his arms across his chest as he looks back to the others.

Mia Renault has posed:
Mia Renault raises an eyebrow at Alice's 'tirade', but says nothing. The rolling of her eyes and slump of her shoulders likely saying plenty all on their own. She continues to listen to the idea of a clinic, in 'Mutant Town'. She gives Warren a wry grin as if to say the idea is hopeless, before bouncing herself off the balcony with her butt and heading back towards the spread.

Apparently finicky, Mia carefully scopes out the platter of bacon, without touching it and picks out two pieces as if from some sort of block puzzle. Extra crispy it is. She bites off and chews as she expertly picks up a napkin and wraps the bacon in to it, while still holding on to her coffee.

Because. Well. Mia is one of ~those~ people. She pipes up with some questions. Likely related to each other and the topic at hand, but certainly not coordinated or inserted as if part of any normal conversation. Teenagers. "Anyone going to live at this clinic?" "What good is a guard in Mutant Town?" "You can always just fund experts to do all this for you?" The last is spoken with intonation of a question but the tone belittles it as a statement as if Mia has some actual knowledge about clinics?

Rage has posed:
"No, we are mutants. I'm not going to start calling myself anything different. I'm as liberal as they come, but I'm not going to create a new adjective for myself to appease a niche crowd. I am /mutant/ and I am /proud/ and I will not be apologetic about it."

There is a moment of rumbling in Andrea's throat before she takes a second to ease down the beast that lives within her, straightening up and taking another sip of her coffee. She glances over to Warren, then brushes her hair away from her eyes for a moment before reaching over to pick up her on danish from her plate.

"You say that, Warren, and I may put some extra zeros on that blank check." She says with a bit of levity in her voice. "I just want to make sure that we have a safe place for /our kind/ to go to when they can't get the help they need elsewhere."

Red has posed:
Alice growls back a little at the strife back from Andrea. "I ain't in that boat with you there. I went to school over in Brunswick. Sometimes, jerks yelled that at us to make us down. But we're people. We're humans at the end of the day, no matter what our powers might be."

Sighing she stuffs her mouth with breakfast instead of pushing the point even further, because, the lines are drawn there.

Archangel has posed:
Looking from Andrea to Alice as she expresses her complaints with the term 'mutant', Warren doesn't pay it much mind. People are entitled to their opinions, after all. Having been a founding member of the X-Men, he's seen his fair share of anti-mutant sentiment and heard damn near every derogatory term used for people of their kind.

He looks to Mia once she poses a few questions and offers his own response, "It's not a complete solution to any of the issues that citizens of the neighborhood face. It's a step." He steps further into the living area and slips his hands back into his pockets, "And for a lot of people out there, anything we can do would make a huge difference." He offers the young lady a smile and then glances at Andrea in case she wanted to provide something else.

Mia Renault has posed:
Mia takes a couple of bites of the bacon she has, gazing back and forth between Alice and Andrea as if awaiting a boxing match to start. Satisfied that's not the case, she shrugs at Warren's comments. "Still. There are organizations that are set up to do it, and do it well."

Setting her coffee down momentarily, Mia wipes her hand with the napkin before balling it up and dropping it into a waste basket. Picking her coffee back up, Mia heads closer to the door, perhaps sensing the tension in the air, especially considering she is about to add to it. "We aren't human." This time there no intonation or any other indication that was anything other than a statement of fact.

Beginning to put her feet back into her hiking boots, she does her best to lighten things up. A bright cheerful smile spreads across her face, perhaps fake, but still...."Doesn't mean we aren't all sentient and stuck on the same rock, dimension, simulation, multiverse, or however you want to define your existence." Stomping her feet to make sure they in all the way, she bends down to pull the tongue up and tight, a final adjustment.

Rage has posed:
"I want a live guard during open hours so that if someone attacks, it can at least be somewhat defended. The clinic is a small practice. It won't be the size of a hospital. It's just two floors and a couple of offices. I want the building to at least be fortified with alarms and a strong security gate that can be pulled down over the main entrance during off hours. Security cameras inside and outside. We plan on hiring a specialist to walk through the entire project."

Andrea takes another bite of her danish, chewing thoughtfully for a few moments. She doesn't wade back into the discussion of how she will describe herself. It appears she wants to go back on the topic of business.

"At the end of the day, I will trust the experts that we employ to give us the best advice. I just have an idea based upon what I can visualize. Do you have a company you tend to contract for these, Warren?"

Red has posed:
Alice stays silent, glaring at Mia for flaiming that they are not human. Not in the slightest. Which was, all evidence she had, wrong. but it seems like she's in the small numbers. So bite it and swallow. Just like back in school.

Archangel has posed:
The slight addition of tension in the air is interesting to Warren. It's almost entertaining as even between allies there can be problems with the use of language. He doesn't take offense much anymore. After everything he's been through, words don't carry the same meaning. It's the actions behind them that really make the difference.

Looking back to Andrea, Warren lightly strokes his chin in thought as he recalls the contractors he's worked with in the past, "I will comb through my documents and let you know." His arm drops and his hand returns to his pocket, "I'm fairly certain I can recommend a handful, I just need to double check which ones have experience with medical facilities."

Mia Renault has posed:
Sipping from what left of her drink, Mia simply waits by the door, occasionally bumping herself away from the wall, only to fall back against it with a silent thump. She watching the conversation turn towards less controversial but none the less pointless chatter over details that don't concern her, at least.

Pausing in her bored theatrics, Mia pulls her phone out of her pocket and glances at it. Letting herself slide down the wall, she sets her coffee cup down and takes a hole of her phone with both hands, thumbs flying as she starts to answer somebody. Knees tucked almost to her chin, a slight smile on her face as she sinks in to the world of technology - leaving her companions to their plans.

Rage has posed:
"That is great to hear. My team will contact your team for further details then. I really appreciate the help in this. It means a lot and I know it will mean a lot to the community. I have a healer lined up to help me staff it. I graduated with him last year. Josh Foley. Goes by Elixir. The gold skinned guy."

Andrea glances over to Alice and Mia for a moment as they go quiet, then rubs her chin thoughtfully. "Okay, so, enough about business. I heard you're the new girl, Mia. That's exciting! I hope you love it at Xavier's. It was the best two years of my life. I got to go through the extra training program which I'm sure you'll hear about at some point. Was really intense, but you come away with crazy abs."

Red has posed:
Alice stares silently back, sipping her coffee. Just... don't get mad girl. Because she knows on a scale from 0 to Magneto or Phoenix, she was very close to 0 when it came to power. And as she wasn't asked, there was nothing to add.

Archangel has posed:
"Of course," Warren says to Andrea with a smile and a nod of his head, "I'm more than happy to help out however I can." He takes a sip of his coffee and makes an acknowledgment noise mid-drink as he nods his head, "The golden boy, yes." He wipes a stray drip of coffee from the corner of his mouth, "Don't know him very well but I've heard he has a lot of potential. He'll make a great healer for the clinic."

Looking over at Alice and Mia, Warren smiles, "My apologies." He looks back to Andrea, "I should probably get them back to the mansion. Signing paperwork isn't that exciting." He looks at the students again, "Trip to the mall to make up for it?"

Rage has posed:
"It's cool. It was really nice to see you guys again." Andrea says to Warren and Alice with her usual bright smile. The conversation of the past is in the past and she is not lingering on it.

"It was great meeting you as well, Mia. Oh! Hey, I'm having a concert on Tuesday in Bushwick and it's for charity." She heads over to her purse hanging on the wall and takes out a number of tickets. She holds them out to Warren with a smile. "Here, can give these out if you want. Free passes for the VIP section, give them out if you want to some of the students."
