A drink is needed.
Date of Scene: 19 September 2020
Location: Luke's Bar, Central Harlem
Synopsis: And the Detective meets the Nurse
Cast of Characters: Detective Chimp, Claire Temple

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp comes walking into the bar. At first some people may think it is a midget but as you get a better look at him, it is a legit Chimpanzee. He walks over towards the bar, and says "Give me a boiler maker." to the person behind the bar. He sighs and adds, "And yes, I am a talking chimp, and yes I have money."

Claire Temple has posed:
The woman known on the streets to more than a few people as 'Night Nurse', who works far too many hours and sleeps far too little, still hasn't ever been in such sleep debt she's hallucinating. Now, however, Claire Temple is beginning to wonder. She's perched at the end of the bar, still wearing her scrubs from work, leaned over a pint of something golden. She blinks, double taking in the direction of the talking chimp. She's trying not to stare but probably failing.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp looks over and nods to the woman, and says "I am real, unless you have taken some really bad stuff, and then I am the magic conscience, that tells you you should do good, and buy me a few drinks but not banana daquerries.

Claire Temple has posed:
"I mean... that is what a really good hallucination would say, but I slept at least 4 hours last night so I don't think I'm in that sleep debt territory yet..." Claire mutters, forcing her dark eyes up towards the bar taps instead of down to the Chimp who really does seem impossible to exist. But she's spoken to him now, so the nurse has a bit more proof he's probably real.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp shakes his head, and says "Na if I was imaginary, I would like the banana daquerries." He offers with a bit of a smile. He will offer his hand and says "You can call me Detective Chimp." He offers as an introduction and pays for his first drink.

Claire Temple has posed:
After a heartbeat or two of boggled consideration, Claire gently stretches her hand in his direction, the same way she would a regular human. She's trying to be as calm and respectful as possible as she takes sight of him again. "Uh...Detective Chimp. Well, I suppose the detective part is helpful for... well, figuring out what you're doing in the world. I'm Claire Temple. Don't wear my profession as a name, but..." She motions down to her scrubs.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp chuckles a bit and says "Well if I go by my normal name, is only one word, and I don't think of myself as quite the Cher, Madonna type so makes it sound a bit more like normal folks, plus free advertising for the whole detective business

Claire Temple has posed:
"That's not...wrong. Though...I imagine your ability to speak and think is some... Strange mix of circumstances that create super heroes and the like? Have you thought of...taking on a... Different name? Sorry. That might be incredibly rude of me." Claire admits, a hint of heat coming to her tanned cheeks and she tries to bury it in a gulp of her beer.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp smiles and says "I have a normal sounding name "Bobo, but Since I am sorta always out there like some of the heros, a code name works best for the general public. I have an even more real name but hard for humans to say and real names have power."

Claire Temple has posed:
"Oh! Bobo, then... that... Makes more sense than Chimp being your... given name. Well, feel free to call me Claire and...I'll call you Detective? Or Bobo? Whichever you prefer?" Claire offers, awkward smile still pasted on her slightly too tired face. The beer helps smooth out some conversation and she's holding it like a safety blanket.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp has finished with his first and orders another "Well Claire, it is always good to meet new people, and I will answer to either of them. And it is always good to know someone with a bit of medical knowledge." He admits. "So normal watering hole or rough day?"

Claire Temple has posed:
A slight shrug comes to her shoulders, "Normal watering hole...rough week, but that's... par for course, really. I'm a nurse. So...all the work, little of the pay, but... I'd not change it for the world." Claire admits with a half smile, even if her eyes look incredibly drawn as she says it.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp nods, and says "Doing good work it sounds." He offers his drink up in a toast, and says "LEt me buy ya one then, make it a bit better."

Claire Temple has posed:
"Oh...you... You don't need to, I manage well enough, but that is... Sweet of you. Thank you. And this really is my local watering hole. Luke's a nice guy and it's never too crowded..." Claire states, dark eyes flickering across the bar with a fond sort of look.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp hmms and says "Will have to remember it, I will be honest was first place I saw after finishing a job where I was having to follow a husband, crap cases but pays the bill.

Claire Temple has posed:
"SO...you're a private detective? Like in all those movies? And people... Really hire you to do that shit? That sounds fucking miserable. I should be buying you a drink." Claire smirks, a touch of understanding in her tired expression.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp looks to her and nods "I don't get as many as most, as the whole name keeps most of the normals away, but now and again I have to. A lot think they can't hire me for things cause I am noticable, but when I want I can be subtle."

Claire Temple has posed:
"And...how long have you been doing this whole... Detective thing?" Claire asks, some of the initial awkwardness now gone as she settles into as normal a conversation as one can get with a talking Chimp.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp smiles and says "Hmm about 40 years now, maybe a bit more?" He replies as if that is not a high number of years. "I sorta did it before but nt professionally

Claire Temple has posed:
"...40 *years*. God damn. You're looking *good* for your age... Unless Chimps are way longer lived than your regular joe schmoe. But somehow, I doubt..." Claire looks him up and down, now trying her best to guess at an age.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp smiles and says "Well we live about like humans normally, but the same thing that allows me to talk, and think like I do." He smirks a bit and says "I have been around for quite a while."

Claire Temple has posed:
"That sounds... even more exhausting. I mean, I fight to save people's lives every single day. It's a blessing to get a long life. But...longer than... that? I always wondered about those immortals out there. Superheroes. How... exhausting it'd be to keep doing it, keep watching the mess of the world, day in and day out... If it gets existentially exhausting, after a while. But maybe I just need more sleep." The last part Claire says with a slightly self depricating smirk.

Detective Chimp has posed:
Detective Chimp grins and says "Guess you could say it drives me to drink, but I still try to get out and help do things. That and I love to learn new things if I am honest.

Claire Temple has posed:
"That's probably one way to keep things fresh. What's the saying...you can master something in 7 years? So, if detectiving gets old, you can...Just pick up and remake yourself, I suppose. Always got some... Interesting selling points, if nothing else." Claire raises her pint to him in a quiet toast.
