So, Just How Serious is this
Date of Scene: 08 October 2020
Location: Port Newark, Newark
Synopsis: Dick and Tim discuss girls and catgirls.
Cast of Characters: Nightwing, Red Robin

Nightwing has posed:
Nightwing has kept Robin out of the Sparrow Hawk training situation. He's compartmentalized, certain, and driven. When he has said things, it is general stuff. 'She is doing well', and 'Planning on working on her throwing irons', and 'That healing aura is a pain in the butt'. Generic, yet not dismissive answers. It was uncharacteristic of him to ask Red Robin to meet him in a warehouse in Port Newark. It is an address Red Robin knows; it is one of Nightwing's minor caches; one minor enough that he shares the information. This is little more than a quick and dirty supply stop. A couple of packs for an emergency bug out. Identities, gear, some cash, all hidden behind a fake wall off the utility area under and behind a drainage grate. It is mostly empty, with the bums not using it because of the dank and moisture. Still, during the day a shipping company has a lease on the place for its overflow. It is a rathole, and only rarely used.

It's perfect.

Nightwing has carefully set up a quick demonstration of the throwing iron course. It is simple. Targets can be pushed out and made visible in the rafters and on the ground as needed. Nothing fancy. Just enough to make it interactive and a little fun. Not all training is life or death.

Nightwing isn't here to show Robin how clever he is. Obviously, to the young man who is objectively and subjectively the better detective, Nightwing is thinking things over. That he wants to talk about it with Robin rather than Oracle, Batgirl, or whatever she is calling herself is maybe a little flattering or troubling. His tells are small. A clench of a jaw. A flick of a wrist as he pushes his hair from off his visor, the fact he has his tracking stuff off so Oracle doesn't know he is here.

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake will come walking in after doing the recon of the place. He trusts Nightwing, but it is the training, they both have had. He will come in the 3rd most likely way of entering and looks around. He stays to the edge of the shadows till he sees Nightwing. He will then step out and waves a hand to his brother "Nice digs." He jokes with the other man

Nightwing has posed:
Nightwing gives a terse nod. He is giving those pensive cues and a quiet frustration. The sort of cues he normally gives before he tears into someone or something. Settling his lensed eyes on Robin, he speaks quietly, to not not carry to far, but with some force. "How is it you are so certain about Sparrow Hawk?" Nightwing cuts through the bologna and just asks it. There is a beat, the pause due to Nightwing not liking his own tone. He lifts his left hand, palm forward as an apology. "Came out wrong. Why her? Why bring her into the family business. How are you so certain? Are you certain? Why didn't you tom cat around a little like I did at your age?" There is a hint of shame in his voice at the admission, but it does not drown out his curiosity. "I know I was orphaned at a younger age than you are. I probably went looking for a mother figure or some other messed up psychological crap. But you. Why her?"

This is not entirely about Tim and Phoebe. Dick's struggling with something of his own. He's obviously looking for insight from Tim. "You're smarter than me. It cannot be that simple."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake looks to the other man, and says "Well at first it was not bringing her into the family, it was just dating, and I did date a few girls, just that was more as the other side of things. We met no clue the other was doing the hero thing. Heck when we first met, I caught her as she was falling and she misunderstood it and turned it into a throw, which I went with to make myself seem less able to fight. We were dating a bit and then we sorta ran into one another out on this side of things.

Nightwing has posed:
"You are stalling. You bringing her in means that she is the one, or should be, as far as you are concerned. Why? How do you know?" This most definitely is not about Phoebe, this is about Barbara. Nightwing's lips tighten in a pretty good approximation of a certain cowled figure's countenance. Dick can be so like their adopted father when he is upset. Bruce left heavy stamp on the young man, which perhaps makes their differences all the more telling.

"I'm not second guessing you. I'm not challenging you. I think she is amazing, and I like the idea of you having someone to keep you human. The Batman left a heavy stamp on you." Totally the pot calling the kettle black.

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake looks to the other man, and says "I want to be with her, She wants to be with me. We have not officially moved in together yet, close to it but not there yet. There is something about her, When I see her, I smile, we share alot, but we also are different enough we have things to talk about and keep learning about one another." He studies the other man, and says "But you know just cause your little brother is getting serious, you should not feel rushed to do it yourself."

Nightwing has posed:
His features soften a little as Nightwing considers Tim. His sigh pulls in. "I want to marry her. It has nothing to do with you. I just needed to hear something from someone smarter than me."

Dick lets that sink in. "I bought a ring." There is the admission.

Regarding Tim, Dick softly admits. "Batman will have kittens."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake looks to the other man and nods his head a bit walking over to him. "So you have known her a long time, can probably read her better than even her dad or ours, do you think she is ready for it as you are?"

Nightwing has posed:
"I cannot read her." Dick's laugh is a soft, short bark tinged with self-mocking. "I gave her a locket I gave my mother the mother's day before she died. She? almost cried. I?" Nightwing shrugs his shoulders. He looks over his shoulders and then admits. "Something in me is broken when it comes to women. It is like, well, I mean look at our father and our grandfather. Neither of them is a good role model when it comes to women. I lost my parents before I could appreciate what they had."

His lips purse. "So you tell me. Am I being dumb? I love her. She knows it. I know it." He just gives a little shrug. "She's my best friend. But is that enough? Given this." he means their chosen life.

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake studies him for a moment, and says "Do you want to ask her, cause your wanting to be with her, or more you feel if your married, you will not run when something goes wrong, do you think the vow id what you need to keep you there?" He looks at the man and says "I mean no offence here Nightwing, but you admit, you have problems with women. Is the ring for you or her?

Nightwing has posed:
Whomever said that words could never hurt them was not Dick Grayson. Red Robin cuts him to the bone. His response is not anger or even sorrow. DIck accepts the criticism. "That hurts, but it hurts because it is true. I asked you to help.: Dick reaches out as he closes the distance. His hand will squeeze Tim's shoulder once. "I needed someone who would tell me the truth. Thank you. That took guts."

Drawing in a breath, Dick softly says, "It's not even a thing?" His tone is uncertain. "I.. the ring isn't for anyone? It's for everyone? It? I'm not going anywhere, little brother. I love that girl, and I have since I was too young to understand it. I've spent a good chunk of life trying not to get hurt. If? you don't love her, when she leaves she cannot hurt you." the admission is quiet. "I'm honestly terrified she'll say no. It would wreck me. She's? my other half. No one else fits. You know? All those cliches? They are true for us. Well, for me at least and I am pretty sure for her too. I hate it when I stay in Bludhaven. Because she isn't there. I'm in love."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake looks to the other and puts hos hand on the arm between them giving a soft squeeze in support. "I believe someone once told me, the scariest part is the leap, but it is also the best time. If your not willing to face the fear you will not know the thrill. " He quotes something Dick told him about the grapple lines when Tim was first starting. You have never been the one to shy away from fear, but I know this is something totally different.

Nightwing has posed:
"the fall can be the best part." Nightwing agrees. He squeezes the shoulder again. "Go on back home. Kiss that girl of yours. Tell her we have throwing iron practice tomorrow and she needs to bring her A-game." he pulls in a steadying breath. "Thank you. I just needed to talk to someone I knew was on my side, and who would tell the truth. I know you are close to Barbara, and you would tell me if I was bad for her. I'm lucky to have you in my life." He works his jaw. "And if you tell anyone I told you that?"

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake chuckles a bit and says "You will tell everyone it was Hood impersonating you?" He jokes a bit with him, and says "Hey you were my hero since I saw ya all those years ago, and now your my brother, what else could I do. Speaking of telling people things I ran into Catwoman the other night."

Nightwing has posed:
"Yeah?" Nightwing asks, and tries to be 'his old self' "She still wearing that slinky thing?" His heart just isn't into it.

"Is she the one with the panther? Or do we have a copy-catwoman?" Nightwing tilts his head to the side. "Was she in the mood to fight or talk?"

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake says, "She came to talk, you read about Sparrowhawk's run in? Turns out the one with the cat is a copycat, and the cat is a demon thing that has an infecting scratch. Catwoman has been infected, and wants our help to get the last ingredient she needs for the cure, some blood from the demon."

Nightwing has posed:
Nightwing just stares at Tim for a moment. Then slowly purses his lips and nods. "Okay. I wish that was the craziest thing I had heard ever. Or even this week. Sure. We can help her. Are we sure this isn't some convoluted con game of hers? What sort of read did you get on her?"

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake says, "Well she seemed legit, she has a glowing scar, and SH healed her some so may have a bit more feel for the wound. She is worried that the copycat or the cat might be able to control her."

Nightwing has posed:
"On the one hand, play stupid games, win stupid prizes." It's a little direct, but Nightwing has a point. "Still. Of course we will help her. I get it though. You think it is legit, or at least that she thinks it is legit. Do we have a plan? Or do I need to hit up my weird contacts?"

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake says, "I have been looking but more info on it the better. He will tell Nightwing the name of the demon that Catwoman told him. "She thinks they may have some enspelled flunkies too."

Nightwing has posed:
Keeping mental track, Nightwing listens, nodding. "Any clue what we are looking for? I mean beyond the panther? Is there something in particular that might have attracted them?" He purses his lips as he considers that. "If they are copying her, that might be something she can answer."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake says, "Well she mentioned they seem to be more violet, and more hey look where I am than she is, so might be legit. Also wondered if might be some cat based magic item she might have picked up."

Nightwing has posed:
"I know a person in the 'Haven. Let me check with her." Nightwing pauses. "Thanks, Tim."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake nods, and says "If I find anything will let you know, and remember you need someone to talk to we can do rooftops or living rooms I am there for ya.
