Date of Scene: 26 October 2020
Location: Xavier's School - Attic
Synopsis: Scott and Jean catches up with their best friend, Ororo and talk about the upcoming field trip.
Cast of Characters: Storm, Cyclops, Phoenix

Storm has posed:
The day had been a smooth one, but when you lived the life of a teacher, even the smoothest days ended in paperwork and grading. Storm looked down at the paper in front of her with her head in her hands. The question had been a soft serve for easy points. "Where was the Declaration of Independence signed?" and yet, one of her students had managed to simply write 'At the bottom".

Ro leaned back and reached out to the bottle of wine and refilled her glass. It was a good thing her hair was already white, otherwise she would have students to thank for it. Glancing over when she heard a knock at her door and quickly abusing it for the distraction that it was. "Please, come in." Her voice carried easily as she stood and walked to the foyer where anyone entering her attic came through.

Storm's hair was up in a simply tail and the yellow and red dress she wore hung loose around her frame. Billowing around bare feet as she walked.

Cyclops has posed:
The field leader for the X-Men had decided to pay Storm a visit in her massive attic room for what he calls a 'sanity check'. With those who are holding dual positions as X-Men and faculty, he wants to make sure that they are in a good spot and help them with anything they may need. He looks tired himself, dressed in a pair of black slacks and a button down dark blue shirt.

"Hey, Ro." He says as he steps in, giving a glance about for a moment with a smile. This place always has a way of calming anyone down. "Just wanted to see how you were doing and touch base. How are classes going?"

His eyes trail towards the wine for a moment. "That kinda day, huh?"

Phoenix has posed:
Scott isn't alone. Coming up the stairs behind him is Jean. Before her is a tray with a hot kettle of water and some cups along with muffins floating in a halo of pink light. She's dressed in black pants and a long, belted green tunic shirt. On the clock today, from the looks of it.

"Good morning." She says to her best friend with a warm smile, and the redhead is looking better than she has in some time. Unlike them, she looks like she may have actually slept. "I figured some tea would be in order."

Storm has posed:
She smiled at seeing Scott and Jean and was quick to embrace them, offering a kiss to each cheek of both of them. Chuckling softly when Scott caught sight of the wine. "Yes, well, you should see some of the answers I've had to look over." It was always something of a fascination, the workings of these students' minds. "Tea sounds lovely, thank you."

She holds out a hand to lead Jean to the small kitchenette in the attic that stood in for a small dining area for when she wasn't feeling like eating with others. "Please, make yourselves at home." The 'dining' area set outside and while it was a little chilly with Autumn's coming, it was not yet too cold to not enjoy the outdoors.

"If I asked you where the Declaration of Independence was signed? Surely you would insist that it's signed on the bottom, yes?" A wry smirk touching her lips as she shoos Jean to sit and starts preparing the tea that was brought. Insisting on treating anyone who visited as a true guest, much to many's aggrevations.

Cyclops has posed:
"Of course. It was signed at the bottom." Scott says with a deadpan tone in his voice as he takes a seat. He doesn't even crack a smile at the joke. Once he is settled, he gives a crack of his back, arching himself up a bit. "I'm kidding. It was in Philidelphia." Please don't give him detention.

"It looks like the Homecoming preparations are coming together nicely. Halloween themed I believe. Allison will be performing for the students. I suppose I was thinking of chaperoning but I figured the kids would like to actually have fun."

As he reaches for the tea, he fills a cup for himself, then takes a small sip. "I spoke to Emma recently." He says with a glance over towards Jena. "She wants to tell her new Prince boyfriend that she is the White Queen and an X-Man in a way to secure more trust with the Atlantian." His brows lift upwards some.

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey returns the hug and kiss to the cheek before she guides the tray over to the indicated table. There's a quiet tut of protest from Jean as she's shooed away, but she learned ages ago that there are some battles that even she can't win. And so she is banished to a chair. "Technically, the answer isn't wrong. Equal parts lazy and creative, but not wrong. Still, they know the intents of the question, so wrong answer but a brownie point for the quick wit." This may be why she doesn't grade papers often.

"Well, the kids can't go too far. So long as none of them try to leave the grounds, break into the basement, or things they already know they're not supposed to do then we should be fine. I figured I'd just float around - figuratively, not literally - and just make sure things are running smooth and there's no stragglers. Also just to keep a general eye on security like normal."

When the talk moves to Emma, the woman lets out a quiet sigh. "Yah, she told me and I told her that she needed to address that with you. I understand part comes from her wanting to foster a more open relationship to help secure an ally, but I also get that she wants to be more open with him as a person. Which... is a big thing for her. Still, it's an obvious security concern, so I wasn't making the call on that."

Storm has posed:
Scott's deadpan delivery was met with a very austere expression. She just blinked twice at him before she continued to set the tea to seeping and aside for them to make up their own cups. It was the same look her students got when they responded in a way that deserved such a look. Shaking her head when he clarified with the correct answer.

"You are a fine chaperone, Scott you just need to learn that it is okay for some lines to be crossed from time to time." Said with a familiar fondness before thanking Jean with a soft smile and a nod. Once both of her guests had their tea and a muffin each did she sit with a hand smoothing beneath the skirt of her dress.

When the talk shifted to the likes of Emma Frost, Ro hid her frown behind the teacup. "While I agree that we should not become xenophobic or utterly inclusive, I feel it only prudent to state that Atlantians are not Mutants. They may share some prejudices with us, but they are still different. What does she wish to gain by revealing herself as an X-Man to him?"

Cyclops has posed:
"I don't know. Spiking the punch and students flying around naked drunk and setting the forest on fire last year was not the highlight of twenty-twenty-seven." Scott says as he rubs his temple. "It's bad enough seeing Logan's naked hairy ass." He grumbles to himself.

"Kids with superpowers always want to do something dumb during these things. I remember when Bobby would try and turn the dance into a skating rink in the middle of a fast dance track and that one girl broke her leg. I felt so bad for her. What was her name again .. Susan .. Foyle..." He trails off.

"I wonder what she's been up to. Historian I think .. she had the super memory power that could retain information and repeat it at hyper levels."

Rubbing his chin, he is obviously now doing something 'X-Meny' as he thinks. "Anyways .. yeah. I gave her my argument against it, she as usual Emma Frosted me and I threw my hands up in the air and caved. She makes good points in a way. Atlantis is willing to open their home to us in the rare instance that humanity decides to drop bombs on Genosha and our school, as well as large purple robots and deliver us a safe haven." His shoulders lift upwards. "Supposedly Prince Garth is pretty forward thinking and wants to make his mark in diplomacy."

Phoenix has posed:
"Kids will be kids. We did enough of our rule breaking then ...and now, sometimes." Mutters Jean. "So long as its nothing that'll wind up on the news. Given one of the students is cold sensitive, I was thinking of converting the staff meeting room back into a ballroom for the evening since we don't have many other large indoor spaces. Maybe the dining room. This way they're all enclosed, at least, and easier to tell if any of the sheep leave the flock."

"From what I gathered, Garth is some sort of mutant, in a sense. An outlier of his people. Enough that there have been attempts on his life." Jean says with a faint grimace. "She assured me that their king has assured the safety of the students, but apparently there's also two kings? I really need to sit down and study the Atlanteans more. She wants James to go with them to chaperone, which I'm fine with. I just impressed that IF anything goes south, the kids especially do not get involved in any capacity. We're a neutral party, we can't get in the middle of politics or uprisings. I don't disagree we need more friends out there, but relationships like that take time. Especially when said potential friends may be having a bit of their own war going on. I'd be sorely tempted to go down there myself, but I don't want them getting uppity with two foreign telepaths wandering around their capital."

Storm has posed:
Ro lifts a hand to try to cover the smile that blooms over her features. Yet, she could not hide the mirth in her eyes. "You must let them have their fun and have stories to tell. No matter how it taxes your patientce. Logan's hary ass not-withstanding." Glancing to Jean before laughing softly and shaking her head. "We do at that. Sometimes, a rule exists so it can be broken. It allows a sense of freedom to those who have little."

She nodded to Jean and smiled, "I can always supply a lovely fog to help with the atmosphere. I think perhaps I shall speak with Hank about somehow turning that fog green." Musing to herself before she added. "If you place students in a new location, they will develop their own opinions and involve themselves on some capacity. You underestimate their hearts at your own peril in that regard." Even the adults would feel a certain way when looking out over a people willing to help them, especially when most closed their doors. It would become impossible not to be entrenched in ATlantian policy.

Cyclops has posed:
"They can have fun without causing tens of thousands of property damage in the process." Scott says with a loud sigh, followed by another sip of his tea. "Some rules can be broken, some shouldn't be. Some shouldn't come at the cost of our paychecks."

"Also, can you imagine trying to explain to the parents that we let their children get drunk and then set fire to the ballroom and then ice girl melts?" He is worrying again. He's had a lot to worry about lately. He pinches the bridge of his nose a bit. "Anyways, maybe I will let someone else take over as chaperone and I'll spend the night at Harry's trying not to .. worry .. "

"I think the field trip will be very educational for them, as long as they remain on their best behavior. The last thing I want is the students to act up and cause an International rift."

Phoenix has posed:
"It'll be fine, Scott." Jean gives the man as reassuring of a smile as she can muster. "Giving them freedom doesn't mean they still wouln't be watched. They can sleep off hangovers and we can put out fires. I just don't want any of them landing on the news or coming to us down the line announcing unexpected 'souvenirs'." There's a quiet groan from the woman as she finds solace in her teacup. "So they stay in the ballroom unless they're retiring to their appropriate rooms. In one enclosed spot, they should be fine."

"I'm more worried about them on this field trip. It's important, so I don't want to cancel it, just knowing Atlantis has some instabilities and knowing that these kids are attracted to trouble like it was their sole purpose in life is what I'm fretting over. I just want to make sure the right adults are going with them to wrangle them and make sure they don't stick their noses into things that they shouldn't. Especially that lot. Most of the students behave, but we're taking the group with a codename and a collective hero complex."

Storm has posed:
Storm merely reached out and put a hand on Scott's forearm and squeezed in sympathy. Maybe it was time to let the younger teachers watch over it all and the elder teachers just flee off into the night. Or maybe their own Halloween party. That had some merit to it and she glanced to Jean and sent the mental string out for the other woman to catch and smiled softly. It was nice having a telepath as your best friend.

"I will go." Said simply. The students were often in awe of Storm and she knew it. She was a powerful Mutant that managed to balance an unstable power with her life in the school, X-Men and Kenya. The respected her and minded her words well enough that she felt she would make a good choice to go. That, and she has her own curiosities to satiate about these Atlantians. Having been raised in Cairo, she had heard many legends and wanted to see the reality behind it.

Cyclops has posed:
"I think that'd be a great idea, having you go. You most likely are our best representation for International diplomacies and relationships." Scott agrees with a smile, reaching out to give her hand a return squeeze briefly. "I am sure the trip will be enjoyable. I would be interested in tagging along but I have other duties to attend to in regards to this Metaforce group that continues to attack those anti-mutant groups. We need to quiet that down, swiftly. I just need to talk to Logan and Betsy."

Rubbing his chin in the palm of his hand, he's grown a few days of scruff upon it. Trying something new perhaps? He is hardly lazy. At least it looks good on him. A throwback to some of his younger days. "I also have not heard much in the way of Erik lately. Ever since that public speech of his that got him shot, he has kept a low profile. That concerns me. Usually by now he'd have gone off and done something dramatic that warranted us to get into a huge unnecessary fight with him over it."

Storm has posed:
She bowed her head to Scott, accepting the duty as easily as that. She would need to pack something appropriate and also ensure she had something more 'black collar', if such a thing would be necessary. She would also ensure that any students that came with had the appropriate garb for any occassions as well. She would inquire as to the list of students going to make sure of it. Maybe even have their luggage sent ahead.

Well, she clearly didn't have her hands full enough with papers and tasks. "We could put together a small team to meet him cordially? Inquire as to his well-being as well as see if he has any intention of following through with ideas of revenge. We may not see eye to eye, but there is a respect there that I would not wish to be discarded."

Phoenix has posed:
"Emma made mention of plans to use magic to ensure everyone can breathe that goes down, so just make sure she knows to account for you." Jean says after a brief moment of quiet tea sipping and contemplation. "I'll at least relax knowing you're around to keep everyone in line, as well as another set of... less invested eyes to judge the merits and difficulties of forming a relationship with Atlantis." She says it delicately, but the intent is plain.

"Erik is a mixed blessing. The silence is nice, but it's equally concerning. He's not a man to stay in the shadows when he has something to say. Maybe I'm just getting jaded with age, but I don't disagree with him on a lot of points, it's just his methods. I'm not doing anything right now that needs my direct attention. Ro, since you'll be handling trip and Scott is handling Metaforce, maybe I can go seek him out. I don't need to bring a whole gang then and spook him. He's not likely to try and hurt me and I'm not going there to pick a fight."
