Breaking the news to Havok
Date of Scene: 28 December 2020
Location: Xavier's Office / Classroom
Synopsis: Scott and Jean break the news to Alex about their engagement.
Cast of Characters: Cyclops, Havok, Phoenix

Cyclops has posed:
It's breakfast time at the mansion and Scott had tucked himself away in his office to have his coffee and bagel as he pours through the news that has come through over the weekend. As of late, he has acquired a custom made pool stick case that is hung on the wall behind him, as well as a knit cap and a pair of mittens that looks like a cyclops. It's very Monsters Inc. Dressed in a tan suit with a black tie, he is dressed to prepare for the onslaught of students coming back fron winter break.

Havok has posed:
Moving to stand in the doorway of the room, Alex can be seen wearing sneakers, jeans, and a pull over long sleeved black 'unstable molecule' shirt. And like most XM/UM uniforms, it clings to his muscular frame. Without entering, he stands there looking at his brother and he cracks a smile. There's even a slight suppressed laugh/cough before he interjects, "Dude, you gotta start letting Jean dress you. Tan and black... what is this, 1984? Oh, and bro, at least get her to toss out all your dated suits. And definitely get you some Granimal labels so you will color coordinate."

Cyclops has posed:
Taking a sip from his coffee, Scott glances upwards at his brother and lets out a noise in his throat. "Thank you for the feedback, Alex. I'll make sure to speak with Jean about it." He gives a clear of his throat. "There is nothing wrong with the 80's. If anything, it was a charming age and I happened to think their fashion tastes were interesting." He reaches over and taps the top of his tablet, then drags it over in front of him. "Did you have a good holiday? You should have came with Jean and I to visit her family. It was very boring."

Phoenix has posed:
"Now now, Alex, you know he's sentimental. He keeps every novelty tie he's ever gotten." Jean's voice comes from behind Alex as she approaches the office. "He even remembers who each came from."

She's likewise dressed for work, but more casual in black slacks and an emerald green cowl-necked sweater. She's got her own tablet in one arm with a mug of coffee in the other. "You should have tagged along, but it was also chaos so I don't blame you. At least things around here were quiet."

Havok has posed:
There's just so much to say in response to what Scott just noted about the 80s and holidays, oh and just how boring the family trip was. There's even the opportunity to comment on mullets and how Scott could rock one. But, with the segue to asking how his holiday was, Alex finds footing in the conversation and before he speaks, Jean comes up from behind.

Turning to receive and actually get out of the way, Alex smiles to Jean's interruption. "Morning, Jean. So good to to see you and..." he quickly takes note of the ring and says, "...and your fancy ring. Oh shit. Did you finally ask him to marry you?" - another jab at his brother's lack of initiative when it comes to lurv.

Cyclops has posed:
"It was chaos for you. I simply watched football with your father while the rest of your family ran around with their heads cut off." Scott takes another sip of his coffee, letting out a low huff under his breath. He can practically sense Alex's younger brother jerky thoughts. He would look fantastic with a mullet. Business up front, party in the back.

And Scott Summers definitely knows how to party.

Rolling his eyes, he says, "I asked her to marry me, yes. I finally took your advice for a change and the ring was burning quite a hole in my pocket. I was going to ask you to be one of my best men, but then you had to insult my fashion sense. I'm wounded now." He says with a lift of his brows upwards. "We haven't set a date or begun planning yet."

Phoenix has posed:
"He was brave about it too, asked in front of Ororo." Jean remarks with a quiet chuckle as she steps into the room proper. "So you know if she would have disapproved than he'd probably still be smoking. He's right, though. We haven't started on any plans."

She grabs one of the spare seats near Scott's desk and sinks down into it so she can set down her tablet and sip her coffee more easily. "We have enough else on our plates right now and planning a big get together of mutants probably is a bad idea right now with what's going on. We'll get to it, though."

Havok has posed:
Listening to all the notations, Alex smiles and nods along. Especially when regarding the Ororo zapping. Avoiding the get-together commentary, Alex is still caught up in the marriage proper topic. He moves back to the door facing after Jean has moved into the room and taken a seat. He comments, "I'm glad you finally did it, Scott. But planning, and getting a date should be high on your list. It'll really boost morale around here. Give the kids and the team something to look forward to."

Cyclops has posed:
"Shannon and Pixie already want to throw a huge party and make a big deal about it. We do not want to rush anything. We have a school to run, adn in our line of work, there is always something. We'd plan a day and Magneto would attack, or The Blob, or Apocalypse, or name a bad guy here. We just want to make sure to get it right." There is a slight nod of Scott's head as he taps along the top of his tablet with his finger as he scrolls through a report.

"Right now, our first issue at hand is dealing with the fall out of this Cure that has been released upon the public. Finding out that Henry had a hand in making it at one point is troublesome. It appears a colleague of his took things too far and stole Henry's old research to help cure his daughter who had a very dangerous mutation. But now some aspects of the government got involved. Here we are."

Phoenix has posed:
"And I told them they could under Ororo's supervision, because I know it will mean a lot to them. But Scott's right, anything big needs to wait. At very least until this cure business is settled."

As Beast's involvement is brought up, a frown pulls at the corners of Jean's mouth that looks a bit more sad than it is angry. "And Hank is, of course, taking this hard. Now we have Magneto and his people involved. I know at least one of them was impacted by the weaponized cure, so we can probably presume he's got any scientists he has working to analyze it. But we need to shut this down. I wish he'd be reasonable for once and actually work with us instead of giving us another enemy."

Havok has posed:
Alex remains quiet for a bit while processing the information about Beast and the Cure. It all brings to light that Alex really doesn't want to be on the deciding side of this quandary. There are way too many conflicting opinions in his own mind about cure vs some of the mutations that are outright dangerous or detrimental to the mutant themselves. Alex says, "Yeah... I'm gonna bow out of that topic and let you all sort out what we're gonna do. But, in the mean time. Do you want me to start renovations on the Boat House? Start getting it ready for you two to live in?"

Cyclops has posed:
"We are not going to live in Remy's boathouse. It also smells like an Axe bodyspray commercial in there." Scott says with an amused noise. "We're probably going to purchase a home in the near area so that we're close to the school stuff. But that's not any time soon." He taps a few more times on the top of the tablet. "You may not want to be apart of the topic, but it is still your job as an X-Man to protect those who can't protect themselves. Though while I have mixed emotions of this Cure like anyone else, we can't stand by and let Magneto attack people either with his Acolytes. The more he makes a public spectacle of this situation, the worse mutant and human relations will become. We just have to take things in chunks and not overreact. No one here blames Hank for his part in this. His intent was well-meaning."

Phoenix has posed:
"A place just in town is likely, so that we're close but not living right across the hall from the students. We'll see how it goes, but if nothing shows there are some unused cabins. We'll see. Winter's no time to be moving anyway. If you want a building project, though, I do have plans to turn the old barn out back into a gym for the students. Extra hands would be appreciated, less contractors I have to worry about hiring then."

"Scott, we should meet up with Hank later and see what progress he's made. We need to jump on this soon. In the meantime, I'm going to steal your brother and go look over plans."
