Pizza Break
Date of Scene: 09 January 2021
Location: Angelo's Pizza - Brooklyn
Synopsis: Drake and Kara chat over pizza.
Cast of Characters: Supergirl, Slipstream

Supergirl has posed:
She didn't really take time off except rarely. Especially finding herself dealing with a team that was fracturing as people had to go deal with other things in their lives. Garth had to return to Atlantis to deal with the threats on his life and that left her with a handful of others as active Titans. It was something that was weighing on her.

Throw in her college schedule on top of heroing and she rarely had a free moment.

Yet today, she opted to take a day off. No classes and her cousin had the heroing well in hand. So she'd sent off a text to her bestie, asking him to meet her for lunch.

Angelo's had a great deep dish pizza so here she was, the order already in as she looked at her phone while waiting for Drake to arrive. She was Kara today. Complete with brown wig, hair up in a ponytail, and a pair of glasses. She wore jeans, sneakers and a nice pink sweater that had penguins on the front. Her jacket and a backpack were on the seat next to her, taking up the other spot in the booth on her side.

Slipstream has posed:
It's a bird!
It's a plane!
It's .. a flying Slipstream?

As he lands (in a hero stance), Drake rises up and makes his way to Angelo's with a casual gait, dressed in his Avenger's bomber jacket, a solid black shirt and a pair of jeans with rips and patches in them. He is even carrying a small gift bag. It takes him a moment to spy Kara, being that she is in disguise, then heads over to her.

"Heeeey! I'm here!" He says as he slides the gift bag over to her with a grin.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara's smile is bright enough to light the room. "Hey! I was worried something happened." Which would mean he'd be off heroing while she sat eating pizza. As if she wouldn't likely try to go and help.

She stood up long enough to give him a quick hug then plopped back down in her seat. So much for him being discreet. Hopefully he didn't draw too much attention. She preferred to keep her identity secret.

As he slid the bag over, she tilted her head slightly. "What's that about?"

Slipstream has posed:
Returning the hug, Drake slips down into a seat and grins. "It's just little something. You'll be the first to get one!" He says rather proudly as he plucks up a menu to take a look at the items. He's going to get an order of cheesey garlic bread.

"So, I'm now a full time Avenger on the payroll! Still not changing my name to Door Dash or Uber, but at least I'm apart of the greatest team in the world." His grin widens a bit. "Their workout room is insane. It just goes on and on and on. So, whatcha been up to lately?"

Supergirl has posed:
"The greatest team in the world, huh?" Kara asks, obviously amused. "I'll keep that in mind should I ever want to leave the second greatest team in the world." Completely tongue in cheek with her tone.

A moment later, the server is there, setting a large supreme pizza on the stand in the center of the table and putting down two plates, in case the gentleman wants to partake as well. She then will take his order before wandering back to the kitchen with it.

Immediately Kara has two slices on her plate but she has to wait for it to cool before taking a bite unless she wants liquid cheese stuck to the roof of her mouth. Not that it would burn her but it would burn another person thus she must keep up appearances.

"Same ol' for me. Nothing new. Just never enough hours in the day." She wipes her hands then peeks into the bag to see what her gift might be.

Slipstream has posed:
"I'm pretty sure you aren't a member of the Fantastic Four."

Shots fired! Drake sure loves his New York super-teams afterall. He'll drag the football rivalry to new heights if he has to. "Though I'm pretty sure you can take The Thing in a fight. So maybe they can replace you with him."

Taking a few slices of pizza, he starts to blow on one before taking a large bite. After a few chews and a swallow, he licks his lips. "I really miss you. I'm crazy busy also but I can make more time to hang out if you wanted."

Inside the bag, in official packaging, is a Slipstream action figure! It looks like him. But way more rugged and buff. There's a quick blurb about his powers and backstory on the back of the package, as well as links to his official Avenger socials.

PR is important!

He can't help but laugh softly as she puls it out. "There is posters coming out too. I feel like I'm in a boy band now."

Supergirl has posed:
"That's so...weird."

Being one of those superheroes who doesn't try to capitalize on her image, the concept of it is confusing. Not that there isn't Supergirl stuff out there. She just didn't cut a deal to get a percentage. Of course, she isn't part of a team run by a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist.

She looks over the packaging, grinning. "Did you ever think you'd be an action figure when we first met?"

Slipstream has posed:
"It is so weird! Supposedly I'm going to get a few different outfits, like .. a winter version, and a spy suit version."

Drake snickers as he props his chin up in the palm of his hand. "I just smile and nod my head a lot when it comes to this stuff. I had a ton of Overwatch sponsors in the past so I'm used to it. Just not an action figure. I did have my own Monster energy drink for awhile which was kinda cool. Dynamite Punch! It was really fruity. I think I still have some in boxes if you ever want to try it. I think it's pretty good. Even has my picture on it. I look so dork on there. All skinny with long hair and trying to look tough while holding a keyboard."

"But being an Avenger is so cool. I get to hang out with Captain America and Thor. They treat me just like one of them. It's so weird, you know? I never thought I'd be in this type of position in life ever. From homeless to hero."

Supergirl has posed:
"That's how it works. It isn't always something people plan on. Sometimes it is fate. Sometimes it just sort of happens. Depends on what you believe in. Not sure I believe in fate. I'm more one to believe in making your own destiny."

Kara puts the figure back in the bag for now. "Thank you. I really appreciate you sharing it with me." Then she digs into her pizza now that it has cooled enough. Only after chewing and swallowing does she speak again.

"It's good to see you happy."

Slipstream has posed:
"Well, what about you? Are you happy?"

Drake asks as he crams the rest of the first piece into his mouth. He's a garbage disposer when it comes to pizza. When you're in space, you don't get the good stuff. It's always space pizza and it's hard to find anything close to pepperoni out there.

"I could do some patrolling with you if you want. I wouldn't mind running around Metropolis or maybe we can pop over to Gotham and punch some clowns in the face. I'm sure Bats wouldn't mind a night off for a change as well. I think it'd be fun to do hero stuff with you again, or at least just hang out in general. I really do miss you. I miss Lar also. Feels weird with him not being here on Earth anymore."

Supergirl has posed:
"He'll be back eventually. Or not. I don't think we've seen the last of him here though. If he did get back to his time, maybe we'll end up going to the future someday and see them all again. I have hope things work out."

It's kind of her thing after all. That unending hope that things will be better, get better. Kara takes another bite of pizza. "We could do some patrols. Here or Metropolis. But no Gotham. Batman doesn't take nights off. The guy is insane." She still has a bit if a chip on her shoulder about the Bat after the entire thing with her cousin.

Slipstream has posed:
"Yeah, he's kinda nuts. Punisher would love that dude. We gotta keep an eye on that guy as well. For a normie with a bunch of guns, he's scary. I hope I don't get picked for that kinda mission. I'd rather stick to carjackers and bank thieves rather than whacko war vets with rocket launchers."

Drake starts working on the second slice now as he chomps through it. "I don't know if they made it to the future. When they dropped me and Bart off, they said they were going into 'deep' space next to search out some type of distress call. Felt it would be best for us to stay behind just in case. It's been awhile since I've got a space email from them and I've sent a few here and there." His shoulders lift upwards.

"Who knows. Hopefully they're okay." He frowns a bit thoughtfully. "How is school going? You crushing it?"

Supergirl has posed:
"Yeah, school isn't difficult. The hardest part is pretending it's difficult," Kara admits with a shruge. "Especially things like science, maths, even technology based things. But I do my best. Even getting some Bs and Cs to make it more realistic."

She continues to work on her pizza. "They'll show up. Or we'll show up. They may still be here or they may be back home. I kind of hope they are hope. I know that's...difficult." Even though it's been years for her.

Slipstream has posed:
"You should just ace it. If you're smart, you're smart. You hide enough as it is. Sides, it will be more suspicious if you get C's and then ace other tests. People will think you're either lazy or you're cheating. It's better to just get strong grades. College is only for a few years. After that they forget who you are the moment you graduate."

Drake is wise when it comes to the world of Earth people. "This is really good pizza. After this, let's go kick someone's ass. I'm sure we can find a bad guy skulking around who needs an old school punch in the jaw."
