Date of Scene: 10 February 2021
Location: Danger Room - X-Men Base
Synopsis: Warpath teaches Ted and Shannon a history lesson in the Danger Room, using... bunnies?
Cast of Characters: Warpath, Nightingale, Ted Gammage

Warpath has posed:
The Danger Room is active. There is a quiet picnic worthy hill, clear blue skies, a lush plain below and a few trees. Whatever he's up to, it's likely no good. Up in the control room Warpath looks down over the scene and waits for the new victims...err students.

Nightingale has posed:
A call to the Danger Room wasn't all that unusual to Shannon. She relished the challenges that usually lay in store, and had particularly enjoyed de-powered training sessions. They were a welcome distraction during a difficult time that was likely to leave its mark for some time to come. When Warpath put out the call for training, though, well, that usually meant something was up. She'd learned the hard way to respect his training scenarios.

When she arrived, dressed for training in her 'bumblebees' and her hair pinned up, her eyebrows shoot straight up. "The heck...? Shik'isn, what are you up to now?" It was an idyllic scene. Peaceful, sweet.

     Almost too easy.

Ted Gammage has posed:
Ted had been hanging out with Shannon anyways, so where she goes, he does to for the moment. He pauses, looking around and taking in the scene. "Huh," he says, taking his hat off to scratch his head a moment. "Well....ain't what ah was expectin'." he tells his companion. "Is this some sorta trick or somethin'? Bad guys' bout t' burrow out from underground?"

Warpath has posed:
In the distance something stirs, and things do indeed begin to currow their way out of the ground. Bunnies. Lots of bunnies. It starts with about twelve, but that numbers is doubled in a matter of seconds and so far they are all just bouncy playing and not noticing the intrepid heroes.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon almost immediately spreads her wings, caught by surprise. "There's multiplying like bunnies, and then there's this," she mutters softly, glancing over to Ted. "Where the heck are they all coming from?" So far, they didn't seem hostile, but then again, this was the Danger Room.

     And anything was possible....

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Ah, maybe an early easter thing? It could be like Monty Python though. Quick, y'see any bones around?" He looks to Shannon and back to the bunnies. "Ah really don't wanna like...fight ah bunch of fuzzy critters if ah can help it. "

Warpath has posed:
They were happily oblivious to the two young mutants until there are words. Then the attention of the rabbits turns towards the duo. They are quiet a ways off, but all thirty six heads turn towards the voices and in a large mass they all start that way, all forty eight of them. Eyes locked on the duo.

Nightingale has posed:
"Uh-oh. Wherever they're coming from, they're all heading this way en masse. This kind of behavior doesn't seem normal for rabbits." With her wings spread, Shannon looks to the sky, crossing her fingers. It had been almost six days since she'd taken the antidote, and her wings were, all in all, mostly back to normal, with only a little bit of growing left to do. All her normal feathers were in, and she'd been exercising them daily.

Now it was time to see if that all paid off.

With a few strong downstrokes of her wings, Shannon vaults skywards, allowing herself a whoop of pure joy as she takes to the air. "I'm gonna try and get a bead on where these little buggers are coming from."

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Ah, awlright," Ted says as he hears her plan. His gaze is locked on the bunnies. "Uh, should ah try to like...fight um? Or...somethin'?" He's not real sure what to do. It's a very unusual program. "Hey, you bunnies!" he calls out "Uh.. sit?" Works for some dogs, so why not.

Warpath has posed:
Some of them watch Shannon take to the skies, but most keep walking towards Ted. Oh look, there are more than there were. Apparently they are climbing up out of a bunch of burrows in the ground. They continue to press towards Ted, seventy plus. They are all staring at him, a bunch squiggly noses sniffing his direction. Anyone hear the Jaws theme?

Nightingale has posed:
"Ummm, you know that Monty Python reference you just made, Ted? Well... I don't like the way those bunnies are looking at you... any way we can encourage them to go back into the ground? 'cause I sure don't want to go fighting bunnies." Shannon pauses, hovering above the advancing herd. Something was up. "They sure seemed to home in on us when we talk to them directly... maybe try moving out of their way, and don't say anything to them? See if they still follow you?"

Ted Gammage has posed:
Ted seems to be up for any idea. He backs up several big steps and then simply gets out of the way, jogging a bit to the right and even looks for something to duck behind and peer around. "Man-eating bunnies, why'd it have to be man-eating bunnies," he murmurs under his breath, mostly to amuse himself.

Warpath has posed:
A few follow Shannon's flight path, but most of them continue to angle after Ted, looking up at his expectantly. Easily a hundred of them on the ground now. At least none of them have grown wings and try to fly after her. Little fluffy blood house on the hunt...or something.

Nightingale has posed:
"Ummm... wow, I'm open to suggestions right now. This is starting to get out of hand!" Shannon's starting to look a little nervous, but she flies lower to the ground. Any second, Ted would be overwhelmed by bunnies. She lets out a loud whistle at the furry little fiends, and shouts out, "Hey! Furballs! Over here!"

This would either go very well, or very badly....

Ted Gammage has posed:
It's the Danger Room, Ted decides, all holograms AND he's a super-strong, nigh invincible guy. Also his girlfriend is watching so maybe he wants to look a little macho. "Alright then," he says, "Since moving out of your way doesn't work," he leans down to nab one of them. "Name, Rank and Serial Number!"

Warpath has posed:
Before Ted can squish a bunny by accident, the Danger Room moves back to the orignal set, just a big gray room. Opening the observation window, Jimmy leans out to talk. There is no malice or anger, just very matter of fact tone.

"After one of Napolean's victories, he and several of his officers decided to celebrate with a large feast." he explains,"Not to be satisfied with just a meal one of his generals decided to gather a large number of rabbits for them to hunt, kill, and cook. The great conquerors." He lets that sink in for a moment.

Once the rabbits were freed, rather than run from these men the turned on them and went right for them. An army of rabbits closing on one of history's most successful military leaders and his great generals. They stood their ground at first, but as the rabbits drew even closer they turned and ran. The great soldiers defeated by a horde of non sentient beings." He smirks ever so slightly and continues,"Wild rabbits were hard to come by, so the general had gathered tame rabbits from around the area. Rather than be afraid of the would be hunters, they all ran to them...wanting food."

With that, he turns and leaves the control room and lets the duo think about what has trainspired. No accusations, just a lesson in finding more than one way to approach a situation. Some people.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon was just stunned into silence for several long moments. A small smile appears on her face, and spreads wider, as she lands next to Ted. "That sneaky... I had a feeling when it was something as innocent as rabbits, there was some point he was trying to make." She chuckles softly, and hugs Ted, though her eyes twinkle. "I guess we were both kind of on the right track, trying to find a different way to deal with the bunnies."

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Why do ah feel like I kinda failed my parta the test," Ted says, cross his arms again. "Though ah kind of wanted to go up to them at first. I mean... what could they have done t'me really?" He pokes his arm as if to remind he's nearly invincible, or at least really hard to hurt. He looks at her, hugging her to him in return, "Oh hey, y'flew again!" he notes.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins and blushes a little bit. "Yeah, I guess I kind of did. And I don't think you failed. Don't think either of us really failed. We both tried to find different ways to deal with the bunnies besides fighting. My thought was trying to find ways to encourage them to go home."

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Well, ah waas jus' gonna pick it up, see if it was gonna...do anythin'," Ted says. "Ah well." He hugs her again, glancing around, "Ah guess lesson over. Wanna get outta here?""

Nightingale has posed:
"For what it's worth, I think you did well." Shannon smiles at Ted, and nods. "Yeah, let's get outta here. Maybe some snacks, maybe a movie, I don't know. We'll find something to do." With that, she heads out of the Danger Room with him, the pair having been given a lot to think about.
