Music In The Rec Room
Date of Scene: 11 February 2021
Location: Rec Room - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Ted and Shannon share a quiet moment in the rec room, with a little bit of music and silliness.
Cast of Characters: Nightingale, Ted Gammage

Nightingale has posed:
It was late evening in the mansion, with a good portion of the student body in their dorms either studying, chilling out, or sleeping. The rec room was all but deserted, save for one lone soul at the upright piano off to one side of the room. Shannon is in her old red tartan sweatpants, baggy grey tank top, and those floofy Old English Sheepdog slippers of hers. Her wings have largely returned to normal, and seem in constant, gentle motion behind her, in time with the tune she is playing. It's a sweet song, seeming intended for the piano, that seems to speak of hope and the heart with every note played. For the moment, she is lost in the music, playing the song from memory alone.

Ted Gammage has posed:
Not the only person. Ted has managed to just sneak in the door, having heard the music. He stands a few feet behind, watching, listening and waiting with a gentle smile. She seems into it, so he merely enjoys the moment without interuption. He too is dressed down, wearing gray sweatpants, a t-shirt that's a bit too tight across his chest at this point, and a pair of beat up shoes that he wears as house shoes.

Nightingale has posed:
As Shannon comes to the bridge of the song, her wings do flare out just a bit much, the poor girl being unaware that anybody's behind her! It just felt good to stretch out her wings, to play an old, familiar tune, and for once, to really feel the music. She's humming the melody, though she keeps her voice and her playing at a respectfully low volume, in deference to others who might be sleeping on the next floor up.

Ted Gammage has posed:
Well, now Ted gets a facefull of wing. "Oof," he says, more in surprise than any actual pain, and chuckles softly before stepping back juuuuust a little bit as she hums and gets a bit more into it.

Nightingale has posed:
That sound is enough to get Shannon's attention. Her hands go still on the keys, and the chords fade away into nothingness. A quick glance over her shoulder has her blushing, and she gets to her feet, wings tucking in neatly behind her back. "Oh gawd... I'm sorry, Ted! I didn't get you too badly, did I?"

Ted Gammage has posed:
"I can stop a bullet," Ted reminds, "I think I can handle a little floofing by my girlfriend's wing," he muses, gets quiet a moment, then whatever he was thinking doesn't get voiced. "Ah was jus' enjoyin' yer song. It's from that movie right?" He scratches lightly at the side of his neck and he moves to stand a little bit closer to he.

Nightingale has posed:
"Floofing. Ha." Shannon giggles lightly, closing the distance to give Ted a huge hug. And this time, it's wings and all, enfolding them in a cocoon of snowy white. "Mhm. Think it's by Bryan Adams. Really sweet song." The giggle is still there, and turns into outright laughter as she parodies another famous movie quote.

     "I just want the floof!"

     "You can't handle the floof!"

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Well, wha'd y'think's a better word for it," he says, then gets covered by a wingy hug and he hugs back best he can. He smiles, listening to her being silly and enjoying the simple closeness. "Ah really wish ah could think of more movie quotes with Truth in um t'swap out," he says.

Nightingale has posed:
"Same here. After that one, I'm lost." Simple closeness was a good thing, and Shannon found herself relishing the moment considerably. It was peaceful and happy, a rare thing in times such as had happened very recently. "Been meaning to ask you, what are some of your favorite songs? Maybe I could learn to play one or two, if you wanted."

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Ah'm bettin' ah'll think of like ten of um when I'm tryin' to go to sleep," Ted says "Or more." His fingers gently move against her back as he holds the hug, keeping her warm and close. "Think y'll ever see bunnies th'same way?" he grins playfully, referencing yesterday's session. "Ah, um," he says, "Ah'll get back t'ya on that one," he promises.

Nightingale has posed:
"Ha, that's always the way, isn't it? You have a brain cramp when you want to think of something, but when you want your brain to shut down for the night, it makes a rude gesture at you." The back rub has Shannon relaxing right there. Her grin echoes Ted's at the reference to lapine lore, and she snickers softly. "Nope. I can't believe how they were swarming you. And all they wanted was some food. If I'd have seen any, I'd have used it to lure them back to their warrens."

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Ever' time," Ted notes. "Notice you're sleepin', time t'make it so y'can't sleep." He shakes his head, "Ever'time." He glances down at her face, meeting her gaze. "Ah don't think they eat carrots," he notes, "Except in cartoons. Didn' see any lettuce. Not sure what woulda been a good lure." He continues to gently rub and knead where he can. "Ah wonder what he'd have done if ah'd gone and picked one up straightaway."

Nightingale has posed:
"Well, I don't know if the little booger would've had a name, rank, and serial number to give you," Shannon replies, giggling softly as she references Ted's attempt at machismo. "I've seen rabbits eat radishes, so maybe carrots and other veggies are something they'd eat, too? Next door neighbor when I was a little kid had a pet rabbit, and I used to pick radishes out of their garden to feed the little furball, because I thought it was so funny the way they'd hold the radish with their front paws to eat it."

As she looks up at Ted, she smiles, brushing a little hair out of his eyes. "I'm starting to get kind of spoiled like this. It's nice."

Ted Gammage has posed:
"One of um mighta had ah pocket watch," he notes. "Late fer a very important date and all that." He smiles a bit as she brush's the hair out of his eyes, leaning in after to give her a light kiss. His fingertips slip just below the hem of her shirt now, just stroking the bare small of her back.

Nightingale has posed:
"I'm late! I'm late! For a very important d..." The classic song fades away, as Shannon returns the kiss. Her cheeks flush a light shade of rose, and she smiles, leaning into Ted's embrace. "Definitely being spoiled rotten."

Ted Gammage has posed:
Ted smiles as he sees her flush a bit. "An' ah'll continue as long as y'let me get away with it." And he seems to be a man of his word, rubbing gently here and there, sliding up just a bit, almost brushing the underside of where her wings meet back.

Nightingale has posed:
Where Shannon's wings meet her back, it's a seamless flow of skin to feathers, as if Nature had somehow always intended for humans to have wings. Tugging her shirt down a bit, she smiles, resting her head over Ted's heart. "Now I just have to figure out ways to spoil you a little bit."

Ted Gammage has posed:
Curiousity sated, he slides his hands back to rest against her hips as she touches his chest. "Aw, y'feed me enough, that's makin' me pretty spoiled. Don't even want m'cold cereal anymore," he says with a wry grin.
