Catching up on Business with Warren
Date of Scene: 24 February 2021
Location: 66 East 11th Street, Greenwich Village
Synopsis: Waren, Jean and Logan stop over to visit Andrea and catch up on news. Warren and Andrea are going to work on revitalizing a school and park by throwing money at it.
Cast of Characters: Rage, Archangel, Phoenix, Wolverine

Rage has posed:
It's a sunny day in New York, even if it's freezing outside. Andrea though is tucked away at her Penthouse, currently watching TV and waiting for Warren to arrive after planning a lunch date with him. She has a plate of sandwiches on the kitchen table that she ordered from a cozy place down the street. There is even some bottles of water laid out. Jay and Nevada are off having some 'bro' time together, thus leaving her free to work through some calls with management and do her usual nine to five.

Archangel has posed:
Not one to use conventional means of travel when he doesn't have too, Warren makes his way over to the penthouse apartment under his own power, mainly using his wings to fly himself over the city. Landing on the terrace outside the apartment, Warren raps on the large window wall that he lands by as he makes his way over towards the sliding glass doors that lead into the apartment from the kitchen. "You here, Andrea? You decent?"

Rage has posed:
Glancing over at the knocking, Andrea hops to her feet and makes her way over. After unlocking the door, she gives him a grin. "Hey Warren. I'm decent." She's dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. Nothing exciting for a day of working from home for her. "Come on in, I got sandwiches for us. I was wondering about a new venture in Mutant Town. Maybe look at refurbishing a school out that way. I haven't done a lot of research yet, but I don't know what the education system is like for public schooling. Not everyone is lucky enough to go to Xavier's, but I was wondering if that was something we could look into. Even if it's not a 'mutant school', at least we can help create a welcoming atmosphere and environment."

Archangel has posed:
Warren wanders into the room, taking a look around the "Nice place. Rivals my own," the winged mutant says with a grin as he pauses in the kitchen to look around. As she speaks, Warren listens, following her into the apartment as he looks for the sandwiches. "You know I am all about helping out Mutant Town. I'll help finance anything we can come up with, but unless we get the city's ok I am not sure we can go the public school route. I am sure they would take our money quick enough, but there is no guarantee they would use it for that school."

Rage has posed:
"Well, I think we should go the research route. See who is on the school board. Average test scores and the such should be publicly available." Andrea says as he eases down into a seat and plucks a small mini-sandwich off the large plate. "We can see about maybe funding security, books, supplies. Maybe rebuild a playground. Make it more appealing to give the kids a better idea of comfort when they're in the classroom."

Archangel has posed:
Taking a seat, Warren nods. "Sounds like a plan for sure. I just want to make sure that when we do something it actually ends up in the hands of someone who will put it to the uses we want. I don't really trust the local boards to do that."

He plucks one of the sandwiches off the platter and takes a bite. Warren looks down at the sandwich with a bit of a smirk forming on his face, "Peanut butter and jelly? Really? I at least expected some meat in there."

Rage has posed:
Smirking, Andrea holds up her own sandwich. Turkey BLT. "You grabbed the wrong one. Usually the PB and J is for Nevada." She says with a giggle as she blows some hair away from her face. "He can pound those down pretty easily. I also got steak in there as well." She says as she reaches for a bottle of water.

"I don't trust local boards either. We could look at finding someone to sit on the board though that we trust. If you know of anyone, we can put their name in during voting season and I can put some leverage behind it."

Archangel has posed:
Taking another bite of the sandwich, Warren chuckles, "Well, I'll just have to pay more attention next time, and look for the steak." He reaches out, grabbing one of the bottles of water to open and take a healthy swallow from to wash the peanut butter down.

"No name comes to mind right off the top of my head, but I am sure there is someone we know that could take a position on the board. It would just be a matter of finding them and then getting them to agree on it."

Phoenix has posed:
Like it or not, it was demanded Jean take some time away to relax over her birthday and to decompress. No one wanted a repeat of her last episode of being over-stressed. So reluctant as she was with the trouble going on, Jean was foisted off to a quiet beach to get a tan, some nice drinks, and repeatedly log into work emails until she was forcibly locked out.

Now she's home, and is taking up an overdue offer to catch up with Andrea over their late birthdays. In an oversized ivory and sunset orange striped sweater and jeans, she appears as the door where she knocks politely. Security already pinged she was already on her way up.

Rage has posed:
Glancing at the phone, Andrea sees the ping come through, then hops up. "Jean is here too." She says to Warren with a grin as she heads over to the door to unlock it and let it swing open. She smiles brightly at her once teacher. "Come on in. Warren is here too. We're talking some business about maybe inflitrating the public school board here in Mutant Town and giving some donations that we can oversee to improve quality of life."

There's a bright grin on her face. "I also got you a Christmas present!" She says as she practically skips to one of the closets to open it up

Archangel has posed:
Warren lifts a brow when Andrea mentions that Jean is there, glancing over as Andrea opens up the door. Warren finishes the little PB&J sandwich and wipes his hands on a napkin before standing to greet his old friend with a wave, "Hey Jean. How was the vacation? Did you actually get any rest?"

At the mention of birthday, Warren casts a glance between the two and sheepishly grins, "I on the other hand have nothing for you by my good looks and a smile. I didn't know you were coming..." . o O (and also forgot it was your birthday) *for any mind readers*

Phoenix has posed:
"Hello!" Jean says brightly as she comes through the door, first towards Andrea and then Warren. "So you two are up here plotting without me, I see."

She kicks off her shoes by the door and walks over to join then, giving her hand a wobbling wave towards Warren's question. "Oh it was nice and all, but you know me, Warren. I can't relax when I know everyone's got trouble at home. It was nice to see the sun for awhile, though. New York is always so grey."

"Wait... I haven't seen you since before Christmas?" Jean blinks as she looks over towards Andrea, her eyes then shifting slightly left then right as she seems to be doing some mental math. "...well, that's awkward. So! Merry Christmas, Happy New Years, Happy Valentines Day, Happy Presidents Day, aaaaaand Happy Birthday."

A finger then points towards Warren. "I heard that. All these years and you still forget? Don't you have people to remind you of that stuff?" She teases the man with a warm and clearly forgiving smile.

Rage has posed:
"Just kidding, Jean, it's your birthday present." Andrea says with a grin to her as she holds the package out. "But I've been busy, so I think it was probably before Christmas. I did the New Years Eve party with The Blue Pirates, then recorded a few singles with Jay. I'm insanely busy, but I have some free time now."

She motions to the table. "Get some sandwiches if you want any." She says with a grin. "I had lunch catered over. Eat up if you're hungry. You got any thoughts on the public schooling situation here in Mutant Town?"

Archangel has posed:
Warren Worthington tosses his hands up in surrender and laughs, "Well, that's not fair you damned mind reader." Warren moves over to offer his old friend a hugs, "I'll just have to make up for it with an outlandishly expensive gift of some sort. Diamonds? You like diamonds right? Of course you do, what girl doesn't like diamonds..."R
He glances between the two ladies and steps back, letting the two converse about the birthday gift as he moves over to grab another sandwich, making sure it is steak this time.

Phoenix has posed:
"Life's not fair." Jean teases Warren right back before sweeping her arms around him with a fierce hug. "Oh shush, you don't need to get me anything. You're here. That's enough for me. Besides, good coffee is worth infinitely more than diamonds." Priorities.

"I imagine your life keeps you busy." Jean then says to Andrea as she releases Warren, giving her head a shake as she takes up the package. "And you didn't need to get me anything either!" She heads to the sandwich table in order to have a place to open the gift. "I'm still working on your gift, it'll take just a little longer to work up but I should have it ready next you stop by the school."

"As for schooling, well... public schools are already difficult. I'd probably say focus on curriculum that'll actually prepare them for life outside of school. Realistically, most of the students go straight into work and can't afford college. Even for those who can, making sure they have those life skill is still important. How to do public speaking, resumes, interview, finances, home economics. They don't need chemistry as much as how to get a job and keep it."

Rage has posed:
"You don't have to worry about a present for me. I just got back from a week's vacation at Costa Rica with Jay. We rented a house near the water and just hung out the entire time all alone. It was nice. We even got some songs written, even though I told him we wouldn't 'work'. I'm a rule breaker." Andrea says as she takes a bite of her sandwich, grinning as Jean opens up her birthday present.

Inside is an expensive and customized Coach bag that is pure white with small red X's printed on it. It's a very subtle homage to their school. It even has her name stitched on the inside of the bag which is a bright red velvet plush interior with gold stitching.

"I hope you like it. I have a hook up in the fashion world who owed me a huge favor." She says with a bright grin, then looks amused at Warren. "Took a tip out of your playbook." She slides over a tablet and props it up, then taps along the foldout keyboard in front of her. "So, pulling up the school board. Got a list of the members. None of them mutants." She presses her lips together. "How do you think we should approach this?"

Wolverine has posed:
"When the moon is in the seventh house... and the Jupiter aligns with mars.." Logan roars up the street in the cab of his clunker of a pick-up truck. Left arm out the window, even in the chill of winter, drumming his fingers on the roof just a touch out of tune with the music playing on the radio. A little 5th dimension, anybody? The fact the old truck isn't belching smoke is a testimony to his know how of keeping it running. Like him, however, it's more about what's on the inside because it looks every second of it's age.

"It's the dawnin' of the age of aquarius.." Wiggling his head side to side, he pulls the truck off the beaten path, and part way on the sidewalk out in front of the del- PENTHOUSE, it's a penthouse not a deli. Which he absolutely knew, stop looking at him like that.... where were we?

Where were they?

Definitely not a deli...

Where the trio are having breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Sniffing at the air as he gets it turned off and slides out with a grunt, fixing a wicker cowboy hat on his head and a jacket on from the bed of the truck. Smelling it a few times just to make sure it doesn't smell too much like motor oil, dirt, or beer. All of which are quite possible.

Hobo Logan makes his way over on sure footing towards them.

Archangel has posed:
"Not my playbook, the playbook for every rich bastard, or bastardette, that has ever lived."

Warren snags a second steak sandwich and makes his way over to look over Andrea's shoulder as she peers at the tablet, "Well for starters we need to see if we can get at least one mutant on the board. Even if they aren't 'known', it would be enough for us to have a seat at the table. Maybe it can help sway things."

Warren takes a bite out of the sandwich, making a pleased little sound in his throat as he chews. "This is pretty good, where did you get the catering done from? I'll have to keep them in mind."

Rage has posed:
"It's a sandwich shop called Defonte's on Columbia street." Andrea says as she gives him a grin. "They have some amazing food there so I figured I'd give them a buzz. It didn't cost that much either."

As the bellhop down in the lobby pings her phone that there is a familiar guest, she launches her app up to peek down at her camera. "Oh. Logan is her too." She says as she rises up and heads to the door. She sends the elevator down to meet him with a press of a button, then leaves the door open for him to arrive.

The Penthouse has a few floors and they are on the top. Once The Wolverine heads up the elevator, she gives him a bright smile. "Hey there." She says as she lifts her hand upwards. "Jean and Warren are here as well. I got sandwiches if you're hungry and beer in the fridge."

Of course she would, even if she's underage. Celebrity life.

"I can't think of anyone on the top of my head outside of maybe Doctor McCoy being on the school board but I know he's going through some things right now after all of that Cure business."

Phoenix has posed:
"Andrea!" Jean says part scolding and part impressed as she looks over the bag. "You definitely did /not/ need to get me this. ...but it is stunning. Thank you." Because she's no longer her teacher, and she's still a woman who secretly appreciates pretty accessories. But propriety demands a protest anyway.

She carefully packages the purse back and safe from crumbs as she then reaches for one of the sandwiches and then finds herself a seat. "I love Hank desperately and he'd do a fantastic job, but now isn't a good time for him. He needs less responsibilities right now, not more. We'll need someone who knows how to navigate a board and deal with people who're probably well stuck in their ways, but subtly. It wouldn't work to just get on board and try to steamroll policies."

Speaking of steamrollers, there's Logan. Jean flashes him a grin as he makes his way up to join them. "If you couldn't possibly notice that we're here."

Wolverine has posed:
Logan, standing in the open elevator door, looks from Jean, to Andrea, to Warren with a steady turn of his head. Inclining his head to Andrea's greeting, "Hey." So many words as he comes inside proper and makes his way closer to the trio. "How y'all doin'? What're we talkin' about steamrollers?" Sure, he could have listened in probably, but they keep saying that's rude and he's doing his best not to drop ease.

Jean's grin is rewarded with one from the Wolverine, "Hey Red." And Warren, "Wings. Sandwiches communal?" Pointing two fingers towards the spread, hard not to smell that from a mile away.

Archangel has posed:
Warren looks over as the door slides open revealing Logan and the winged mutant lifts his hand in a wave of greeting. "Logan. Yeah, help yourself," Warren says, snagging one more small steak sandwich before Logan has a chance to devour all the rest of them, popping it into his mouth to chew.

He looks back to Andrea and Jean, hrmming to himself, "Well it's not like I have the time, so don't look at me. I have enough going on with the clinic, and WI. Besides, I'm too well known. I don't think it would work out...especially if I lost my temper. That could be bad."

Rage has posed:
"I know I don't have the time or interest .. /yet/, to sit on a school board. If I did that, it'd send Jay into a panic thinking I was pregnant or something, or wanting to be." There's a wolfish smirk upon the shifter's face as Andrea leans back in her chair. "Though to see the look on his face may be worth it."

She beams over at Jean, giving her a wink. *You're welcome.* She sends over her way with a loud thought before she takes another bite of her sandwich with a hungry chew. "But at least you and I can throw money at it, right Warren?" There's an amused laugh from her. "Maybe Allison would be up for it?" She asks with a curious tone in her voice. "Or maybe I'll just put some feelers out through my contacts."

She motions to Logan to take a seat at the spread of sandwiches. "Hello, we're just talking about the mutant town school board. Warren and I are thinking of making plans to help refurbish it, give it some funding. But we noticed the school board doesn't have any mutants on it, being it's in the public school system. Their scholastics are not very strong either. Ranked third to last in the metro area." She says as she motions to her tablet screen. "School has a mix of human and mutants. They don't have any sport teams. Just seems more like prison than education. Even their playground is a shamble from street view."

Phoenix has posed:
"Allison is in a similar position of recognition and obligations." Jean says as she leans back in her seat, arms crossing over her chest as she thinks. "But I agree with you Warren. Everyone here right now is probably not the ones to be in a high temper situation. At least the ones I have to deal with now are ones I can be honest with. A normal school board? Probably not. Honestly, none of the X-Men should, even auxiliary. We should find someone who can really commit their time and efforts to this. The kids deserve that."

She pulls out her phone as a buzz can be heard and she squints at the screen. "So, Shannon just texted me. Apparently there is an assortment of Jamies in Greenwich, with one of them sporting school apparel. Anyone know about that?"

Wolverine has posed:
"Oh." Logan grunts from the spread, making himself a sandwich that definitely isn't going to be easy to eat. Lots of meat though. He drops down into a seat and leans down over the plate with an elbow to either side, craddling over it like a prisoner expecting someone to come after their cornbread. "I don't see how a group of humans can expect to understand the plight of a bunch of kids... mutant or otherwise. I'm a mutant and I barely understand what the fuck is going on with some of the kids we've got at Xavier's." Between bites.

It's safe to say he's not going to throw his hat into the selection for being on that board. Anger issues? Problems controlling his temper? Murderous rage? Check marks are all green across the board. "There's gotta be someone in the community that could do the job right? Right endorsements from public figures could help grease them into the position.." Another big bite, shrugging a thick shoulder indifferently.

He cares about mutant problems, but...

Archangel has posed:
Warren nods to Jean, "There are too many of us that can go bonkers if we get in the wrong mood. Not the best light to put our kind in if we ended up slaughtering the school board, and I have heard those meeting can get downright ugly."

Warren takes another bite of his sandwich, raising a brow over at the concoction that Logan has made with a bit of a smirk on his lips. "That's..uh..and interesting sandwich there, Logan. You going to be able to get a mouth around that thing?"

Turning back to the other conversation, Warren looks down over Andrea's shoulder and winces as he looks at the numbers, "Shit. That's horrible. I'm half tempted to just send a construction crew there and do an overnight job on that playground. The kids, all the kids mutant and human alike, deserve better than that."

Rage has posed:
"Well, it just happens to be a public school in a heavily populated area of mutants. It's not technically a mutant school. It's just Brushwick's public high school .. with surprise mutants." Andrea says as she taps along her screen a few times to pull up some profiles and scrolls through them next after saving a few pictures and links to go back to later.

She eyes the mountain of meat that Logan works on and grins. "I got plenty, don't ease up on the gas." She drawls out before motioning to the fridge. "Beer also. Whiskey in the cupboard above it. It's from Kentucky. Jay's Ma sent it over to us."

As she leans back, she continues to think. "A bunch of Jamies are running around? We could put one of them on the schoolboard. No clue why they're running around."

Phoenix has posed:
"There are days I don't think Jamie even knows why he's doing something." Jean mutters with a tired sigh as she taps out another couple of messages, one that is likely a response and another forwarding. Scott surely hasn't met his quota of security briefings for the month. The man takes them more seriously than OSHA. "If he causes trouble, I'll just go drag him home."

"He's definitely not going on the board. We can definitely handle some side projects to boost the community. There's enough charities we're involved in in some fashion or another. I'm just at a loss at the moment. Anyone I can think of to put forward is up to their eyeballs in other work."

She pushes herself up from the couch to head towards the kitchen and grabbing one of the bottles of water out of the fridge. "Anyone else?" She offers, even as she just floats one beer bottle over to settle on the table by Logan in a cloud of pink light. The cap even pops off and then drops down in the recycle bin with a quiet tink.

Wolverine has posed:
"Thanks, darlin'." Logan says with a partial mouth full of the sandwich nobody thought he could put in his mouth. Snatching the beer out of the air as it floats closer, he was about to slice the cap off with an extending claw when Jean handles that part as well. "Twice." Guzzling it, life blood.

"Why don't we just go to these board meetings and slash their tires if they don't get the job done?" Obviously he's not being serious. Obviously that's not at all something he'd do. Maybe destroy their car entirely, but not just slash their tires.

Now picking at the meat hanging out from between the two slices of bread.

"Mm.. a little early for whiskey. Maybe in-" Glancing at the window, squinting, "Thirty minutes, give or take.. Get a nice beer base before I soak my guts in rye whiskey, eh?"

Archangel has posed:
Warren lifts his water bottle to his lips and takes a sip, "I don't know why half the people at Xavier's do half the things they do, to be honest, but sometimes I don't think Jamie literally knows what the others of him are doing at any given time. I have enough problems with my own life to have to figure out his."

Warren nods to Andrea, "All the kids there deserve a break. I really do think I am going to just send a crew down there to do a midnight repair job on the grounds. It's a start."

Warren eyes Logan, arching a brow. "Tempting. Very tempting." Warren reaches up and rubs the bridge of his nose with finger and thumb, "Anyone I know just, like Jean said, is too busy or not a fit."

Rage has posed:
"Yeah. I can't think of anyone also." Andrea says as she rises up and heads to the fridge to lift up on tip toes to open the cupboard. She takes out the bottle of whiskey, followed by a shotglass, then heads over to place it in front of Logan with a grin.

"But, anyways, it's just an idea. Figured I would start up a new project that my charity can get involved with. Though speaking on the topic of a park, maybe we can go through city hall and get one built in Mutant Town. A nice one with a tall fence for security purposes. We can get a sports court installed as well and maybe get some green space." She continues to scroll through the street view in front of her.

"So, how is everything back home? Looks like things with this Cure business has simmered down a bit? Did you guys uh... fix it?"

Phoenix has posed:
Jean gives a raise of her water bottle and a tip of her head towards Logan and his thanks. "While I understand the drive to improve the future of mutant children with intimidating violence, it's probably not going to shed the best light on said students." She remarks as she heads back for her seat on the couch.

"A park would be nice, if the space for it can be secure. Though ongoing upkeep and security will be important, we don't need it becoming a target for trouble." Which leads to talk of the cure, which makes Jean's expressions darken as she looks down to her bottle of water. "Soon, I hope. I need to catch up on any information that I've missed. It seems to be quieter, but that could just mean they're going underground again as opposed to actually being removed."

Wolverine has posed:
Logan flexes his hands down on the table, having stalled in his sandwich eating only on account of how much food was there to eat in the first place. Not to mention the beer he just drank in a few quick guzzles. His attention shifts only slightly, but he's certainly listening, nodding just so to Jean's retort about them not engaging in violence for the sake of bettering the future. "Just puttin' out more options."

As for the cure. He lifts his chin, scratches his jaw, and raises a brow. "Far as I know, I'm better. So I guess someone must'uh came up with a cure of some kind. It's all kind of foggy though." Both shoulders roll forward beneath his dingy jacket. The cold doesn't really bother him as much, but it makes him look weird if he walks around in a tanktop in Feb. "Soon's we find those bastards, I've got a big ass bone to pick."

Archangel has posed:
"I should really go check on Shannon. She seems to be taking everything in stride, but if anyone knows what it is like to loose there wings...," Warren says with a bit of a clench to his jaw as he speaks. "At least she seems to be taking it better than I ever did."

Warren looks over to Logan as the older mutant says he is better, a brow raised. "Why does everything with you have to be fuzzy? Why can't you remember something helpful clearly just once?" Warren sighs, tossing back more water from the bottle in his hand. "I just wish we could do something to help the others who aren't as lucky."

Rage has posed:
"Shannon got her powers back though. We hung out the other day and talked. Looks like whatever cure that Doctor McCoy worked on to reverse the effects worked." Andrea says as she finishes of her own sandwich. "We just finished working on her single also by the way, so that should be on the radio really soon as recording completes and it goes through the final scrub. It sounds great."

She leans back in her chair to relax, folding her hands over her stomach. "But I think checking on her would be a good idea. She's still.. you know.. gun-ho. Not sure if it's a brave face she puts on, but I know a few things about covering up trauma." As she taps along her tablet, she swings it over to them.

"Looks like Dr. Brightman and his team are giving mutants their powers back for those who want them." She says as she motions to the news articles.

Phoenix has posed:
"It is good that we have a reverse for this 'cure'. It's something, at least, so long as it keeps working."

There's another ping on her phone and with a quiet groan it has her pulling herself up from the couch. "Well, back to work for me. Apparently the lot of new equipment - that's needed for a class on Monday - that I ordered ended up delivered three states away. So now I need to go make some angry calls. You all know where to find me." In her office, on her fourth cup of coffee no doubt. She collects up the present given to her as she heads for the door. "Behave yourselves, I'll catch up with ya later. Happy belated birthday, Andrea!"

Wolverine has posed:
"Because if I remembered everything, I'd be perfect, and the world couldn't handle that kind'a awesome." Logan smirks at Warren, leaning back in his seat until the weight of his adamentium bones /actually/ makes it groan in protest. "Besides', I aint got a fu-.. I ain't got a damn clue how all that sciency shit works. Hank an' his doctor were workin' on it.. Figure he'd come up with something before long."

Inclining his head with Andrea, pointing the empty beer bottle at her after draining the last few drops by turning it straight up over his mouth. "Bunch of those clowns in tactical gear came in, got me, Shannon, and Megan.. by the time we was back at the mansion, I didn't feel like I was dyin' inside. Not even sure why..." Seems glad that Shannon's good though, dipping his head forward in a nod. "Kid's got moxie."

Glancing up and over at Jean with a grin, "See around Red." Touching two fingers to his brow in a mock salute.
