Padawan Meets Master
Date of Scene: 10 March 2021
Location: Unknown Address, Sunnydale
Synopsis: Willow meets Tala, who agrees to become her teacher of the magical arts. A match made in Hell.
Cast of Characters: Tala, Willow Rosenberg
Tinyplot: Temptation

Tala has posed:
The Bronze was somewhat quiet tonight. No new band so a DJ just was spinning music like usual. Certainly it was populated but it wasn't as busy as Friday or Saturday night. Typical of any club really, though perhaps a bit more people here since the Bronze was the place to go in Sunnydale for the younger crowd.

Gretel was there, waiting for Willow. She'd texted the other woman that it was all arranged. The woman who taught her magic was willing to at least meet Willow. In truth, she'd been wanting to all along but they had to play the game, lead the young woman into things so it was /her/ choice seemingly.

She was sitting on one of the oversized sofas, phone in hands, flicking through social media as she waited. The sofa was in one of the far corners, away from the dance floor to allow for conversation without having to raise voices.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow was nervous.

When she got the call to say 'come on down!' Willow *almost* turned it down. It was a weeknight, during exam prep week.. it was a hard decision to make. Finally she'd replied:

W>> Alright. I've decided. Tonight for a few hours. Then studying.

At the right time, she arrived and looked for Gretel, and spying her, she made her way for her, plunking herself on the sofa. "Sorry, if I'm a little late." She wasn't. "Where is she?"

Tala has posed:
"You're actually right on time. She should be here any minute." Gretel gave her a quick hello-hug then leaned back to her spot on the sofa, tucking her phone away in a pocket. "Trust me, you'll know when she gets here."

And with that enigmatic answer, Gretel turned to other things. "I promise we won't keep you up too late. Exam week at school right?" She remembered Willow mentioning something about it recently.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow grabbed up Gretel in a reciprocal hug. "This will be a crazy time. Thank goodness it only midterms. But they are almost as important as finals. Especially when you're facing down your opponents for one of the spots for scholarships. I'm nervous!"

She looks around for the 'teacher'. Really, though, she has no clue what she is looking for. After all, she wouldn't have picked John out of the crowd!

Tala has posed:
"Huh, guess I never throught about that. Having to compete for scholarship spots. But I have no doubt you'll do amazing. You're super smart and work hard," Gretel responded.

That's when the door opened. A woman walked in and would immediately ping as different. Black hair that fell straight down her back. A dress that was slit on the sides to upper thigh, neckline the same but opposite in that it dipped low and her dress was off the shoulders. Her eyes were white on white. No color to the iris. On her chest, easily visible, was an arcane symbol in black. Her feet were bare.

She moved through the crowd with ease, never actually touching anyway. And honestly, no one seemed to see her. If they did, they didn't acknowledge her in any way. Not a look or a glance. Nothing. Which was strange considering her appearance.

She moved straight to couch the two of them sat upon, eyeing Willow curiously. "Hello." The accent was either Russian or Eastern European. "It is good to be finally meeting you. Gretel has said so much."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow didn't need an introduction to the 'teacher'. Gretel was correct. And while she wends her way, or more appropriately everyone moved unconsciously away from her, leaving her an open space to move through, Willow was mesmerized. Until she sat down by them and Willow gushed to her, "I want to learn to do that!"

Tala has posed:
That gets a smile from the mysterious woman and a giggle from Gretel. The younger woman motioned. "Willow, this is Tala. She's my master and has taught me everything I now. Master, this is Willow, the woman I told you about. She wants to learn more." Then she realized how silly that sounded considering Willow's words. "Obviously."

Tala's smile was turned to Gretel. "Yes, obviously." She looked back to Willow at her eager words. Then the woman sat down. Right where she was. In the air, pulling her legs up into a tailor position which had her dress falling around her legs to show the legs off well. Yet it was still demure, hiding everything else. An unnatural ability. "It is a simple glamour. You have heard of such perhaps? Instead of changing my outside appearance to something visual, I simply make it invisible. Then a bit of something extra," she raises her hand, palm down, wiggling her fingers like she was adding something to a recipe. "And the people will avoid touching you. It has limitations but is effective."

She stares at Willow openly, that otherness about her obvious in everything about her. "Why do you wish to learn magic, little one? Why does it appeal?"

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Oooooh. I see." And she did. "You create the effect you are here.. and they never know that they aren't moving away before you are nearer to them.." Willow had the theory, but trying to make it happen would be another.

"Miss Tala?" Willow tries her name on for size as she ponders.. She knows *why*. She's known why for a very long time now, but could she admit it to the woman before her? "I'm afraid you might look at me in the wrong way."

She ducks her head down.

Tala has posed:
For her part, Gretel is quiet now. She knows not to interfere. It is Tala's moment to make her decision about Willow. Nothing Gretel said or did would sway the woman either way. She'd done what she could, arranging the meeting.

Tala watched the reaction of Willow closely. A shifting of her fingers, a movement of her hands and all sound outside of their space was gone. They were alone, in a crowded club. No one would hear them and they would hear no one else until Tala released the spell.

"Willow," she said the name in a soothing tone. "There is nothing you can say that would offend me. We all have our reasons. None is right or wrong. I simply wish to know yours. Why do you wish to learn more magic? True magic. Not that which the little witch covens at the college or high schools practice. True power."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow had touched upon true power, but it always seemed to be ever so distant. Just *once* she wanted to be powerful, and have people look up to *her* the same way they did Buffy..

She straightens up her back, and looks into Tala's eyes. "I want to be more powerful, even than my friends. I want to have to look up to me, and know that I am powerful, not the silly little Willow that they have to look out for. I'm sick of being mollycoddled. Just once I would like to be powerful and them to be afraid!"

That last even she didn't realize was in her.

Tala has posed:
Gretel blinks in surprise and looks at Tala.

Tala hasn't budged, hasn't moved. Yet there seems to be a swell of power around her. Just a moment. Perhaps their imagination.

"You do not wish to be the wallflower. You wish to be the powerful tree you are named for. Beauty and strength, able to bend and flow with the forces of the world around you." She smiles and gives a brief dip of her head, the tiniest of nods.

"I will teach you, Little One. You have so much power inside you. Allow me?" She began to flow her fingers through the air, manipulating the lines of power and drawing it to herself. "Sleep." A single word and Gretel tilts over, asleep immediately. This leaves Willow and Tala a moment.

Tala's eyes begin to glow and she strokes the purple power beginning to glow around her hands. A moment later, her aura appears for Willow. It is a blend of purple and black, large and glowing. Her power for the young girl to see. Or at least, what she is willing to let appear.

"And now for you."

Suddenly the glow changes. Red, fiery, powerful, showing around Willow. It expands, like a forest fire devouring everything around her and filling their small space with a glowing blaze of power. There are are lines of black through the red but the fiery color is dominant. "You have power, Little One. Far more than I do. Far more than anyone I have met." She smiles again, that glow still around her eyes.

"I will help you discover and unlock it."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
And that was enough to hook Willow in.

She longed for the power Tala showed her - even if she's not certain it really comes from her. She has to believe it, because if not, she's just your average witch doing love spells and 'finding the keys'. She wants to be powerful, if only for one day.

"Show me!"
