Batman reaches out to Oracle
Date of Scene: 10 March 2021
Location: Batcave - Wayne Manor
Synopsis: Batman fills Red Robin and Batgirl on a curious apartment complex
Cast of Characters: Batman, Red Robin, Oracle

Batman has posed:
Having sent out a communication to both Tim and Babs to meet him at the cave, Bruce is currently in full costume. He is standing in front of his large computer, arms folded as he stares at a 3D model of an apartment building in crime alley. It's one of the worst parts of Gotham, known for not only the high rate of crime, but the largest number of homeless and lost souls which populate the area.

"Alfred, let them in when they arrive." He says with his low rumbling voice before he takes a seat once more, then leans forward to tap along the keyboard.

"Very well, sir." Comes the familiar voice of his butler through the intercom.

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake comes in via the Cave. His red motorcycle heard before he is, but after the cave's security system has alerted Bruce who it is, and from what direction he is coming. He will pull the bike into one of the bays, and once he has parked, he will remove the helmet nodding in greeting to Alfred, as he heads towards Bruce, watching Alfred's to see if he needs to know anything about Bruce's mood going in.

Oracle has posed:
Barbara Gordon arrived only minute after Tim. No motorcycle this time, she was still in civies and driving a bright blue Mini Cooper complete with Union Jack on the white roof. Parking it not far from Tim's bike, she got out and walked toward Bruce and Tim. Alfred get his own greeting, a warm smile, "Hi Alfred. You look dashing, as always."

Making her way over, she nods to the others and waits. Asking really doesn't work in this case. Patience is a virtue, so they say.

Batman has posed:
Alfred as always gives a welcoming smile to Barbara and Tim. He raises his brows upwards to Tim for a moment, a clear sign that yes, he is in a 'mood' tonight.

As he swivels in the seat and rises upwards, Batman makes his way towards the dynamic duo. "Thank you for coming Red Robin, Batgirl. I need the two of you on a project that I am working on. I am tied up in a few things, but I figured this is right up both of your alley."

As he motions towards the large digital construct of the apartment building, he says, "Crime Alley, the East Side. I have been buying a number of apartment buildings in the area so that Wayne Enterprises can rebuild them for low income housing. Help get people off the street. This one particular owner would not sell to me, no matter how ridiculously high I made the price tag."

He folds his arms over his chest. "As you can see, this building has been in use for decades, but I found something interesting in the sub-basements." He says as he points to an area where what appears to be a number of shipping containers are welded together.

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake walks over to look at the screen. He stands with his hands behind his back a moment studying the display. "So, been around for decades, no word about the construction in the basement?" He will ask as he seems to put two and two together "Thinking one of the places one of the contractors for the other side works out of?"

Oracle has posed:
Barbara Gordon comes to a stop near the projection, studying the lay out quickly as she listens. She crosses her arms, left index finger absently tapping her lips as she scans over the layout. She frowns.

"So.. they're worse than tenaments and twice as rundown, more or less. But someone put a rabbit hole under this one." Oh she does love a good mystery. "You know the containers are there. How far have you investigated?"

Batman has posed:
"The containers aren't all that suspicious." Batman says as he reaches out to tap the shimmering hologram, then zooms in closer. "Inside the shipping containers was mulch. Heavy industrial mulch. A few tons of it." He turns to look at the pair of them, more pointedly at Tim.

"I was able to find traces of clothing that had yet to decompose, and I took samples of something that may be DNA. I am still running tests on it. It appears someone is disposing of bodies there. Decomposing them. Leaves no trace."

"It takes four days for an adult human body to decompose and all DNA erased in that type of mulch. I also found blood stains here, indicative of an attack. Blood splatters show that a blade of some type was used."

Multiple photos of the containers show up on the feed, as well as the blood stains.

"Everything was bleached. Could not find any traces of DNA in the blood. It was soaked with amonia. At this moment, I have no leads."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake hmms and nods his head a bit to this and says "That mulch a new composition or something that has been around for a while? Thinking if we can track it's age and where it was made, might be a bit of a lead. It get rid of bones as well, or just the flesh and blood?" He will walk over to the computer at another server, and brings up the missing people in a three mile radius of the place and for the last 10 years, that have gone missing and were never found.

Oracle has posed:
Barbara Gordon purses her lips, thinking through these details. "We can isolate the makeup of the mulch. If it was created by a company and capable of this level of decomposition, there should be markers that identify where it was made" not so different from fertilizer since the rise of using nitrates to craft explosives. "There has to be information on the containers. You can't just slip those under the foundation once the building is completed. There will be some window of time in the construction that let someone slip them in during a shut down.... a scheduled delay. Something."

Batman has posed:
"This mulch gets rid of everything. It takes longer to break down and decompose clothing, but yes, the goal is to remove all traces of a body. I have dug out quite a bit of the mulch and analyzed it. I am still tracking down a few leads."

"I don't know how long the containers have been down here, but they were recently used. I have set up some cameras around the building now to see if I can obtain any information. I would like for you two to help chase down some of this for me, while I am wrapped up in another project."

He taps a few more times, sending the information over to their devices with a 'ding'. "I can support you of course, but the two of you are more than capable of chasing this down. Take Sparrowhawk with you as well. She could use the exercise."

Reaching up to pull his mask back to let the rest of his face breathe, he folds his arms over his chest.

"Whatever you find, report back to me so I can loop Gordon in. We're keeping this information under wraps for now, so not to scare away whoever may be running this. Could be a gang, could be a serial killer. I sent you the name of the owner. A little old lady. Address and phone numbers. Let's see what she knows."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake nods his head a bit to this and says "I'll look into the history of the place, and if there have been more missing people or murders in the area, compared to the neighboring block or two.

Oracle has posed:
Barbara Gordon has her smartphone already out by the time Batman has routed the files to she and Tim. "I'll have every bit of data on the owner scraped from Local, State and Federal servers in the next four hours." By the time she's finished saying it, she's routed the initial intel directly to her Oracle AI in the Clocktower to begin crawling through. Putting her phone away she looks to Bruce and Tim, "We'll find everything there is to be found." It could sound arrogant but, as the Batfamily knows, it is simply confidence in the methods the team uses.

Batman has posed:
"Good. You're both dismissed." Batman says as he taps the computer to kill the screen in a wash of light. He stares at his two prodigies for a long moment, then glances to the side as he hears Alfred in his ear. With a heavy breath, he clears his throat.

"Tim, Barbara, Alfred has prepared dinner for you both." He says as he gives a motion for them, turning and heading for the stairs that leads upwards. It's chicken marsala night.
