An Unpleasant Interview
Date of Scene: 13 March 2021
Location: A beach of New York City.
Synopsis: Star-Lord interviews Koriand'r to determine if the bounty on her head is warranted. After deciding it's for a wrong reason, instead he offers a coffee date.
Cast of Characters: Starfire, Star-Lord

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r hmmmms happily as she heads to her usual sunbathing spot on one of the beaches near New York City. It's sparsely populated due tothe cold of the water - but that doesn't bother Starfire. She is wearing an itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny yellow polka-dot bikini - because, one, local and state laws have decency standards and two, she finds the song about the garment amusing even though the woman in said song is ASHAMED of said bikini. She settles down and closes her eyes, sighing happily.

Star-Lord has posed:
Then, there's a man with light brown hair to his shoulders coming down the beach, wearing beach shorts and sunglasses. Holding a beach chair of his own... and he's heading right for Koriand'r.

"Hello there!" The unknown man greets, "Names Peter Quill. You might know me as Star-Lord." He continues cheerily as he approaches.
r
"You mind if I sit with you?"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r just blinks barely in your direction at your name... but the code-name caught her attention as she sits up suddenly. "Star-Lord, hmmmm?" she states softly. "We're a bit far from Knowhere, aren't we?" she asks. "I don't mind at all. But I take it this is no coincidence." She keeps glnacing in your direction, but doesn't moveo therwise, basking in the sun.

Star-Lord has posed:
"You've heard of the Guardians, then? That'll make this easier." Peter taps the chair out, then plops down with no grace at all, laying back on it. "Yeah, you seem like a smart one. What's a beautiful woman like you doing with a bounty on her head?"

He asks it so casually, you'd almost expect it to be just another conversation... but the Guardians are known bounty hunters. Heroes, but bounty hunters.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r immediately sits up again, pointing her finger directly at your eye - a finger that is now glowing a bright emerald green. "Regicide, betrayal, and an evil sister," she states flatly. "Believe me, better than you have tried to collect. Just ask Lobo."

Star-Lord has posed:
He seems unfazed by the finger. In fact, he /smirks/ when she points it at him. "Lady, if I wanted to collect with no questions, I've got a million ways to make this a fight. I'm not a legendary outlaw for nothing." He remains sitting, his eyes slightly towards her. "Mind if I get the story on the sister?"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r frowns softly. "If you are not here as a bounty hunter, then WHY are you here?" she finally asks sullenly as the emerald energy reabsorbs into her hand as she flops back on her own beach chair. "I'm not in the habit of talking about such things. My sister betrayed our world, threw me in prison for most of m childhood, and I escaped. No point in going there, so I stay here. And..." She sighs softly again. "If you're here to talk to me, then...." She trails off. "How did you know I'm here? I'm trying to keep a low profile in the galactic community. I doubt Lobo blabbed - he has his own code."

Star-Lord has posed:
"Because I'm not Lobo. We have an understanding, me and him. That understanding extends to professional courtesy to an extent, but I tend to recon my targets. Sometimes, it's a wrong place wrong time deal. We're not sociopaths, just sometime aholes." Peter lays back into his chair, then. "As for how I found you... you're not exactly easy to miss, gorgeous. You're a model, you get around, and I know Terra well enough to tap into the broadcasts here."

He smiles a bit as he watches her, "In this case, the whole thing smells of politics, and I tend to be wary around that. Getting mixed up with politics isn't worth it sometimes, and sometimes, the target didn't really do anything wrong."

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r nods. "Exactly. Yes, I am hardly subtle about Earth stuff, but.... I try not to advertise to the galaxy at large. Definitely politics. Regicide and patricide aren't pretty. And my sister did both." She sighs osflty. "How did you know I was on Earth?" she asks, seeming a bit obsessed by that. "Sure, once you tracked me to here, it'd be easy to find me, but the galaxy is a large place."

Star-Lord has posed:
"I visit. I was born here and after I found Terra again I kept up with tech. It isn't hard to keep a satellite in orbit and collect transmissions. People here have DVRs, even." Peter points out. "I don't know enough about your sister to make a judgment call on this, but you're giving me good vibes, so I'll take you at your word." He glances to her bikini. "I don't know too much of your work. Are you the sort who advertises clothing casually?"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r murmurs, "I don't do much modeling these days. Mostly for pro-mutant magazines. They need the support. And I'd rather be seen as a hero than as eye candy. I think that's the saying." She shrugs. "You can just look up Kory Anders. I use that 'Terran-ified' name sometimes on legal documents for they want a family name and a given name."

Star-Lord has posed:
"Nothing says you can't be both." Peter points out as he listens. "I've never found anything wrong with eye candy, myself. I've had a number of babes tell me I'm eye candy myself." Then, he raises a brow to the name, "Giving your name to a bounty hunter? That's quite a bit of trust already." He sits up then, and looks at her with a serious expression. "Seems to me like a case of trying to off a rival after they got chased off. I don't usually press those."

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r shrugs. "I didn't get the feeling that you were actually wanting to try it. You're trying to talk yourself out of it. Or find it unjust." She looks you over. "And yes, I would consider you 'eye candy'." She smiles. "I like this bikini. There's an old song about a woman wearing an 'itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny yellow polka-dot bikini', but in that song she was rather embarrased about it. I am not." She shrugs. "You guys are more than bounty hunters. I have my ear to the spacelanes with a few sources of mine."

Star-Lord has posed:
"It was more a case of a lot of things not adding up." Peter nods, then looks back to the bikini. "You look good in it." Peter compliments, before he looks to her eyes, "I've got a bit of time, actually. Care to get some coffee tonight with me?"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r nods slowly. "That would be lovely. Where would you care to meet?" she asks softly. "Are any others in your group around, by the way?" she asks as an afterthought as she glances back twoards you, eyes raking over you and then sighs softly. "Let me know when and where."

Star-Lord has posed:
"The other Guardians are busy with their own business on planet while I handled this." Peter informs her, then, he stands up and pulls a notepad out of a pocket in his trunks, and writes. After a moment, the paper is torn, and offered. "I parked the Milano around here, unless you know a good shop we can use."

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r nods slowly. "I will meet you here this evening around sunset," she states as she tucks the paper in the side of her bikini waistband. "I will, of course, be more appropriately garbed." She winks at you as she returns to reclining on her chair.

Star-Lord has posed:
"Great!" Peter grabs the chair and reaches around to the back of it, pulling off a satchel that was previously hidden from view. A set of extremely weird looking pistols, and a set of boots with some sort of devices attached drop out. "I was hoping I wouldn't need to use these. Glad I was proven right." He puts it all on, then flourishes both pistols at once as he holsters them.. "I'll see you later, gorgeous."

Leaving the chair behind, he walks casually up the beach back the way he came. "Oh, don't worry, I have my clothes stashed nearby. I won't draw attention with this stuff."
