Dimensional screwups
Date of Scene: 19 March 2021
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Star-Lord, Magik

Star-Lord has posed:
It's a big galaxy, and the Guardians of the Galaxy are... legendary? Notorious? Probably depends on the planet you ask at.

Tonight, most of the Guardians are busy elsewhere while Peter Quill is handling a high profile delivery. Unstable technology? A fast moving ship is ideal for transport, and the Milano certainly qualified for that.

Somewhere in the Nova Empire, the Milano quickly reaches the out of system jump point, and Peter charges up the jump drive. A fold in space compacts, then twists like glass, opening a hole into a version of hyperspace as Peter flies through it on sublight engines...

Magik has posed:
Somewhere, not even in the same dimension, Illyana is spending her day in her home away from home. Or obligation away from home possibly as she's spending her day in Limbo. If she spends too much time away from Limbo, she always runs the risk of the dimension finding itself a new rules and Illyana likes it the way it is. At the moment, she's sitting in a quiet study, going through a pile of books. At the moment, they're not about anything that she specifically needs to deal with. But when you've got her job, you need to always be in a state of learning new tricks. Staying ahead of Limbo is a full time job.

Star-Lord has posed:
Whether the effect is from the device in the cargo bay, some sort of anomoly, or just some freak convergence of dimensional borders, the cause is only a footnote.

Something that shatters the stable jump bubble around the ship, and sends the Milano through metaphysical forces that should have, by all accounts, turned it into so much atomized mulch.

Instead, there's a sudden roar of explosions and engines roaring to compensate for being in an utterly unknown blasted landscape as Peter frantically works to keep the Milano from crash landing. Too hard.

Magik has posed:
Illyana glances out the window of her current study at the wastelands of Limbo, only to see off in the distance a completely alien object streaking across the skyline, letting out a booming noise as it does. It's only a speck from her location at first, but even from where she is, she can tell it's noisy and dangerous and while that isn't something that's completley out of the ordinary in the skies of Limbo, this clearly isn't a simple demon.
And so, getting to her feet, she narrows her eyes and mutters a short spell, closing the distance between herself and the object in the sky. And once she's up on a nearby mountain and getting a better idea of what she's seeing, she's convinced that the object is a starship, something that's completely out of place in Limbo. Illyana's first thought is: Invasion. It wouldn't be the first time that some group came here to harvest something.
With another quick spell, she teleports again, this time aiming for inside the ship itself.

Star-Lord has posed:
What greets Illyana inside the ship is akin to a ship that clearly has seen better days. Better days in the form of 'it's blown up and systems are going haywire while the pilot tries not to crash hard'.

The grunted screaming of a man ahead makes it easy to find the lone pilot of the vessel sitting in the bridge helm chair, holding onto the manual controls for dear life.

Magik has posed:
Illyana arrives in the ship ready to have to intimidate some (likely) alien invaders. However, by the state of the ship that she can see, she's pretty sure that's no longer necessary. This ship is a mess and very likely going to be destroyed. Unless she does something about it. Though this might be outside of the realm of what even /she's/ capable of in Limbo.
So she follows the shouting until she reaches the shout-er, keeping a little bit of a distance from him, even though she's a little shocked to see that he's human(?). "You really shouldn't be here", she says as way of introduction.

Star-Lord has posed:
"Whoever you are lady out of nowhere, I'm a bit busy trying to make sure this thing doesn't tear apart on impact!" Is the slightly shrill reply as the ground comes up. Hard.

It's not a crash landing, but it nearly is. There's a sudden jolt as the ship is suddenly pulled up into the sky just before impact, forcing their momentum down to a trickle, before the landing struts thunk to the ground, rattling everything in the ship.

With that, Peter sighs heavily and audibly, and relaxes into the chair. "So! I have no idea where I am or how I get here. I'm assuming it had something to do with the thing in my cargo hold." He unbuckles himself and slowly stands out of the chair, looking to to the newcomer with slightly narrow eyes, "Names Star-Lord. And you?"

Magik has posed:
The jostling of the ship forces Illyana to cling to a nearby chair as the ship nearly dives into the ground and then goes back into the air and then back down to the ground, but this time not ready to bury itself. She waits until a few moments after the ship stops moving to be sure it's not going to lurch again before she releases the chair. "There's no hover mode on this thing, huh?" Of course, she's not completely aware of how it got here.
As she steadies herself and composes herself a little, she now has the chance to look over Starlord. "This is Limbo. And as I was saying: you shouldn't be here. What do you have in your hold that would bring you here?" At the last question (and the narrowed eyes), she raises an eyebrow. "Illyana." There's almost a little bit of a smirk at the name 'Starlord'. She could use codenames, but Limbo business is more personal to her. "So, 'Starlord'", is this ship still capable of flight?"

Star-Lord has posed:
"Well, the ship didn't blow up on impact, so yes, it is. I just need to check the damage. Rocket usually handles this sort of thing, but the rest of the Guardians are a bit busy with something else." Star-Lord replies, starting to move towards the door in the back. "There was too much momentum and damage for me to get the engines restarted immediately. I should be able to hover us out of here in a few moments once I do a patch job."

As he heads for a ladder down, "You know where I am? I don't recognize any of that hellscape."

Magik has posed:
"Good. If you can get yourself back in the air, I can get you out of here, although I don't know where you came from. So that may be a problem for you. But you will not want to stay here." Illyana is sure of that much at the very least. "Guardians, that's a team of some kind?" Illyana hasn't dealt with the 'Guardians' as far as she knows. So based on the fact that this ship isn't from Earth, it sounds like 'Starlord' must be from some other part of the galaxy. "And the reason you don't recognize any of this is because you're on another plane now... assuming you're from the plane I assume you are."

Star-Lord has posed:
He stops on the ladder briefly, looks to Illyana, then... "Huh. Well, I've gotten into some really weird stuff over the years. This isn't even in the top ten." As he descends the ladder, "Yeah, I'm Star-Lord, leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. We're a group of reasonably priced mercenaries. You know, bounties, protection, save the galaxy a couple times. That sort of thing."

As he gets to the bottom of the ladder, he heads for another hatch in the back, and starts to open it. "You look Terran. Earth?" Star-Lord asks.

Magik has posed:
"Oh. Okay. Nice then." Illyana isn't judgemental. Mercenaries have a place in things. And that he seems to be taking the whole 'not in the home dimension any more' thing pretty well is another feather in his cap as far as she's concerned. She follows along as Starlord moves throughout the ship. She's actually a little curious about what could've been in the hold that could've sent this ship here, but she assumes they'll get to that eventually.
She smirks at being called a Terran, "On Earth we usually go by 'human'." Or mutant. Though she does feel the need to add, "But yes, I spend a lot of my time on Earth. What about you?"
