Cast of Characters: Batman, Batgirl (Cain)

Batman has posed:
It is a dark night in Gotham though at least it isn't raining, as two figures stand looking down at a house. It seems like a normal home considering where they are at in Gotham as Batman points to the man yelling outside the home beating on the door yelling. Through a window you can see a crying woman holding a child with the phone in her hand though you know as you can see it from here the man outside seemed to cut the line to the house. Why she doesn't use a cell phone, or what the neighbors are doing will have to wait as Batman says.. "Go.. don't kill.. We don't kill." and nods.

This is the third night like this, small time crooks, not busting into Mobsters homes and beating the heck out of them, not some evil group on the docks trading drugs or worse. Just this, small time things to help people in trouble. Batman watches her to judge, how does she handle this, what does she do.. He does this often she would know, but doesn't speak of it. If she were to ask, maybe she would get an answer, or at least one that would explain his process. Batman didn't really explain why sometimes, if she asked him how, or when, many other things he would explain it to her in detail so that she got it, but even to her the meaning he kept to himself. In truth in his own mind he knew what this was for, and it seemed they were stuck in a loop until she did.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
The girl is almost invisible, against the night. Whereas Batman's costume certainly lends him that menace of terror that he created the persona out of, it's not pitch black. From head to toe, hers is, even a patch over where her mouth would otherwise show. The only measure of any coloration the small splotch of color, yellow, to signify her as representing the Batman.
She looks at the man who took her in. Who is allowing her this opportunity as she has often looked at him. Silent. Emotions she can read. Hidden thoughts, plans, those are far more elusive. She does not know what his end goal is here. But, she is too well trained, disciplined to show the frustration she feels at fighting these small-time crooks. These simple crimes. There is no challenge.
There comes no verbal reply. There rarely does, when he gives her an order. When he directs her. There, as there has only been since their partnership manifested, a small nod of acknowledgment.
She steps off of the edge of the building they're on, and lands on the railing below before hopping that, and hitting the ground.
She moves like a shadow, quiet, soundless, behind the man.
It's such a simple thing. One moment, he's pounding on the door. The next, the back of his head has hit the porch from a backwards leg-sweep, and a pointed hand slams into the man's shoulder to deaden the nerves there. He won't be able to use it for several hours.
The looming darkness that is Batgirl says one word, simple, forcibly. "Leave."
And, she continues to loom, as if she were ready to finish the job she started.

Batman has posed:
Batman watches as she leaves knowing where she is, or how she will approach he keeps an eye on her though doesn't follow. He doesn't often, but you have often cought him durring your training nights not sleeping when you get back to the cave. He is detecated in what he does is serious as is his gaze his face continuing in the brooding mood that is his default once he puts that mask on. He does appreciate her efficently, though doesn't nod or his face doesn't change.

The man on the other hand did not expect to see someone not to mention a Bat, though it takes him a moment before he realizes. As he hits he starts "Hey.. what the.." he stops looking up at her realizing that he was on the ground and there was someone very serious above him. He seemed to think about it, you can smell the liquid bravery on his breath, but decides, as he pushes away far enough to get up, and run away rubbing his head. "Heck with this.."

Batman waits for your return, he doesn't seem to point or order he just waits for her back where she left. If she returns he would turn to her, and after three days of this he actually asks her a question.. "So have you got it now?" asking simply like he was wondering if she continued learning the lesson. He looks at the house like it was a hint, if there was something she had done that was imporant though this was just another one of those same jobs she had done over the last three days. A robbery, Guy stealing from a liquer shop, this, and a few others where it was no real challenge to her whatsoever. The training in the cave was harder then this, much harder as Batman did not hold back in skill, nor dedication to that task. He waits silently for her answer, positive or negative he just watched the house quietly.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
Batgirl is nothing, if not efficient in everything she does. It's hardwired into her to be so. She's smooth in her return, moving fluidly back from the darkness, and the near-silent grappling hook shooting her effortlessly back up to Batman, and she alights with ease onto the roof where he'd been looming like one of his favorite gargoyles while he watched her in action.
Then, he asks his question. She turns the black eyes, the goggles that hide her eyes and just add to the menace of her costume onto the house, and the woman, starting to look relieved, and move away from the window seeing that the man is gone and watching him run down the street. Leaving her in peace. She sees the relief on the woman. The thanks, deep, in the depths of her, and the fear as it washes out of her to nearly nothing.
One word. Confident. Precise. Forced. "Yes."
Batman, certainly, would have enough keen intellect to realize she far preferred the hard training sessions to the question-answer thinking games he was boring into her. The training, the fighting? That was comfortable. Like putting on a favorite pair of shoes. Hard? Certainly. But, familiar. Comfortable. These tests of morality, of challenging her thinking, the reasoning? Far more vexing for the not-quite broken minded Batgirl.

Batman has posed:
Batman stops and turn looking at her other then the house.. "I don't think you do." then falls to silence again. He is thinking, though just lets the silence hold a bit long before he continues. "It isn't about thier thanks, it isn't about fighting criminals." He holds out the his own grappling hook to the side, he continues right before he launches out the side. It isn't hard to follow him, but he leads her further into Gotham until he finds what he wants. He stops on top of a large building across from a movie theator.

He waits patiently for her to follow him, and points down at a family leaving the theator.. "It is them, or maybe them." he points to another group of kids that are leaving. "We all have different motivations, but if your doing this for yourself you will eventually fail... It is a hard lesson to fully understand, but when you do it will make you stronger." he falls silent again maybe tired after talking so long.

He looks at her with the same look from before... "Do you undersand?"

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
It is, for her, far, far easier to follow him through the rooftops than it is to follow the verbal lesson he is trying to teach her. The words? She understands them. Clearly. The intent of them, the purpose behind them, and inherent meaning is the hard part.
She lands as silently as he does, a near perfect protoge in how quickly she adapts to the physical demands of the role she's been allowed to take. She listens to the rest of his words. Considers them. She -thought- she had understood, when she watched the woman. But now, it appears, she was wrong.
Batman's keen senses might pick up on the tight fabrib of her black mask minimalistically twitching downwards, as Cassandra frowns as she has apparently 'failed'. She does -not- like failing.
The smallest of sounds as she lets out an exasperated puff of air through her nostrils. "No."
Like all her words, clipped. Short, and to the point. She points back in the direction of the house. And, struggles with formulating her thoughts into the difficult words. They come. Slowly. "Fear. Gone." As if she were arguing with him. Or, trying to convey some other message, the reason for her 'yes'.

Batman has posed:
Batman sighs slightly, though he does nod, "It took me a long time to get it as well." he looks out at the streets, he seemed to be in a chatty mode tonight though he didn't want her to feel punished for not getting it yet, this was more of a inner thing which he knew she wasn't good at. "Yes, and no.." he finally answers her statement as though he aknowledged her arguement though there was more behind it waiting for her attention. "We do not live normal lives to these people.." he starts slowly "Though they need us, because we can do things they can not. That does not make them lesser to us, nor less important." he watches her out of the corner of his eye.

He continues to look out, but keeps her in the corner of his eye so he can watch her. "We do this for them.. We don't want reward it is meaningless to our goals. If you keep in mind sometimes why we do this.. It can drive you further." he keeps silent for a moment to let that sink in before he pushes a button to call the Batmobile.. "It takes time.." is all he says jumping off the ledge himself the grappling hook comes out just early enough to slow him down, to stear him into the seat though of course he wouldn't shut it on her.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
If nothing else, besides fighting, Cassandra is probably the best -listener- of any of Batman's pupils. She doesn't give him lip, in return. She doesn't complain. She doesn't snark. Or, mumble sarcastic comments under her breath. She might sulk, if she doesn't get to go on a more difficult mission - but, perhaps that can be understood.
And so she listens again. Intently. Not simply wanting to understand. Needing to. Believing, firmly, that this is part of what will either fix her, or help her.
As he moves, she shadows him, her cape billowing out behind her as she falls down with the flow of gravity and likewise transitions into a seamless drop into the other seat in the Batmobile. She nods, once, indicating she is ready to go. She nods again, as if in understanding of his words. She looks at him, intently. Batman wasn't impossible to read, but he certainly kept his emotions close to his chest. Far more than most she knew. But, it's clear her believes what he's telling her. And, with her black masked eyes looking at him, she nods once more in affirmation. She understands. And, is committed to learning that understanding. But, nothing more need be said from the young protoge. She does have much to think about, though, in the day to come.
