Weird Tales of the X-Men: Re-Animated!
Date of Scene: 04 July 2017
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Cypher, Storm

Cypher has posed:
It is early in the afternoon when the phone in the school office rings -- the caller ID identifies the Salem Center Police Department.

Outside, the sun is out after the intense nighttime thunderstorm, and the birds are singing. It is, by any yardstick, a bright and beautiful day, full of the heady promise of early summer.

Storm has posed:
The Secretary, or whoever may be answering the phones, would no doubt answer the phone, and eventually Ororo would be handed the phone as she arrives in the office, she doesn't sit around minding the telephones afterall.

"Hello, this is Ororo Munroe speaking." Ororo says into the telephone as she moves around behind the office counter to sit down at one of the desks. "I understand you wished to speak to someone here at the Academy? How may I help you?"

Cypher has posed:
"This is Dan Dorchester with the Salem Center police department, ma'am. I wanted to talk to an official from your school about the vandalism at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery."

"According to our records, the school had a student named Douglas Ramsey, is that right? He was a local boy? Died in a, ah, hunting accident?"

Storm has posed:
"Yes, Douglas Ramsey was a student at the Academy here." Ororo will say into the telephone in response to the question, "It was a terrible loss when he passed." She says, reaching for a pen and starting to jot down notes on a piece of paper at hand. "How may we be of help, Mr. Dorchester? Do you believe one of our students had something to do with this vandalism?"

Cypher has posed:
"No, ma'am. It was Douglas's grave that was vandalized." The voice comes over the phone. "His body's gone."

"I haven't called his parents yet, and thought I'd call your school myself. You guys have an... eerie reputation in the town. People talk about strange noises, strange lights. The usual kind of stuff, and to tell you the truth I pay it no mind."

"But for all the world it looks like this kid's coffin was busted out from the inside. Somebody helped dig the grave out. But that's just it. For all the world, it looks like that's exactly it -- they were helping him dig himself out. Now, I know that's not possible, but I've been CSI for twenty years and I know my way around a crime scene. The seams on this coffin were fractured from the inside, and somebody up above dug up the turf and helped somebody dig their way out of the mud. At least, that's what it looks like."

There is a moment's silence. "And I can't in good conscience walk up to this kid's parents and give them some impossible story. So I thought I'd try you first. Eerie reputation and all."

Storm has posed:
"I see, Mr. Dorchester." Ororo says, scribbling down several more notes on the pad of paper as the police investigator speaks to her, nodding faintly, though mostly to herself, of course.

"I am not certain exactly what we could do to help make sense of your investigation, we are just a school, of course, Mr. Dorchester." She says, "But if it would help I can and discuss the matter with Doug's parents to try and soften the impact it may have, it may be easier coming from those who knew him."

A few more notes are jotted down before she continues, "Is there anything else that I might be able to help you with?" she asks.

Cypher has posed:
"I understand, ma'am." Dan says, quietly. "I'm a good cop, and I can't falsify my findings. So what I'm going to do, is write down in my little book that based on my investigation the rainstorm washed a lot of mud back into the coffin and made it look as if it was opened from the inside, as a peculiarity. We will have to send someone to speak to Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey, of course, but if you want to send someone to talk with them that's fine. I'm sure he's also got friends at your school, so I thought it'd be the polite thing to do to call you."

"I'm glad you were so understanding, ma'am. If you ever need anything looked into, call Dan at the Salem Center police department. And keep up the good fight. Good-bye, ma'am."

The call ends. Outside, the birds are singing.

Storm has posed:
"Thank you for the Call, Mr. Dorchester." Ororo says, "We appreciate being informed, we'll make sure any friend's of Dougs have appropriate counseling and resources in response to the unusual events. Have a wonderful rest of your day."

Cypher has posed:
A robin lands on the windowsil. The birds of spring, the promise of new life. In the gardens Ororo tends so carefully, fresh flowers have blossomed and fill the air with sweet perfume, drawing honeybees and butterflies.

And in a cemetery, a grave stands violated, and a CSI man hangs up his cell phone, and says, "Probably more of those damn Satanists, looking for bones. All right boys, cordon the place off, I'm springing for lunch."
