Evening Swim
Date of Scene: 13 April 2021
Location: Swimming Pool - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Probably better to not try to match big brother physicality wise. Shannon gets the blue lips trying to swim in early April, upstate New York.
Cast of Characters: Warpath, Nightingale

Warpath has posed:
No sane person would be in the water yet. That said, Jimmy is currently swimming the length of the pool underwater and at the end turns again without taking a breath to swim back again. On good thing about being this size, he doesn't have to struggle to stay under. Despite the fact he is that big, he cuts through the water very fast.

Nightingale has posed:
No sane person would be in the water yet, that is true. But with that being said, whoever spoke those words of wisdom, evidently never met one James Proudstar. Nor did they meet one Shannon Lance, who even now was approaching the edge of the pool, in a very modest black one-piece swimsuit, with her hair pinned up in a bun. There is a thick, warm, fluffy towel on hand nearby, but not on her person. The minute her toes touch the water....

"BRRRRRRR! Shik'isn, how the heck can you stand the water this cold?!"

Warpath has posed:
Though he is under the water, he hears her voice and so he surfaces. Once he wipes the water from his face and looks up,"It's not that bad really." he replies,"It's less cold once the numbing takes over." Maybe he's teasing or maybe there's some truth to it,"You should try it."

Nightingale has posed:
"You're nucking futs!" Shaking her head, Shannon steps out of the water, and walks all the way around towards the deep end, muttering. If one were to listen, it would be questioning not only Warpath's sanity, but her own in even considering something like this. "I'm gonna regret this, I know it..." Taking a deep breath, she jumps off the side and into the air, assuming the classic cannonball pose....

     KER-SPLASH!!!

Warpath has posed:
He leans on the side of the pool and waits for her to jump in. There is a smirk and he shakes his head. You know, the responsible thing would have been to point out that his mutant power makes him highly resistant to pretty much everything that gets thrown at him. Fire doesn't burn really, cold isn't overly...well cold.

Of course, what is more fun than setting up the younger sibling for a surprise and shock? Ever wonder if there is another reason why his whole tribe is gone and he is the last?

Nightingale has posed:
Oh, when Shannon comes up to the surface, she is sputtering, shivering, and coming up with various imprecations and invectives regarding Warpath's lineage and bathing habits. But one thing she won't do is let him show her up, and she seems determined to last at least a few minutes in the water. Despite the bone-chilling cold, she tries to at least swim to the other end, grumbling the whole way.

Warpath has posed:
He sighs and shakes his head,"Shik'isn, what is my power set? All of it?" he asks and leans against the wall. He'll give her one chance to grow a brain and get out before taking her out himself. There is no appearance that the water is even noticeable to him. None.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon is already swimming for the shallow end, to at least walk out with some measure of dignity intact. "Strength, speed, resistance to heat and c-cold, regeneration, enhanced senses, d-dexterity..." By the time she's running down the list, she's at the point where she can start walking out of the water, soaked through and through. Somehow, though, her wings remain dry, and ready for flight. She's shivering up a storm as she stumbles towards the towel she'd left on the side of the pool, wrapping it and her wings around herself for warmth.

Warpath has posed:
"Do you think that might have some bearing on whether you should have gotten into the pool?" he asks with a sigh. There is a simle though, his eyes tell the tale. Crazy as it was, he's proud of her bring strong enough and brave enough to try it anyway. He steps out of the pool on the deep end without much difficulty. Pulling an extra towel he nods towards the pool house,"Inside."

Nightingale has posed:
"M-maybe, but I wasn't going to let you show me up -that- easily!" A girl, after all, -did- have her pride! And whether or not Shannon usually admitted it, she was more proud than she let on to most. However, she was not so proud as to refuse the direct order to get inside and warm up--even going so far as to sacrifice some measure of dignity for the sake of expediency, and hurrying her pace towards the safe haven of the pool house!

Warpath has posed:
"There's showing someone up and risking one's health. You're tougher than anyone gives you credit for, but don't risk your safety. I can't be hurt by the water, you can. There's a difference." he explains,"Also, good job. Good tough. Don't ever do it again." High praise...sort of.

He closes the door and puts the extra towel on her,"Rub core first, arms and legs after." He turns the heat up in the house to warm her up better.

Nightingale has posed:
"I also figured if it was a total screw-up, I could trust you to be there. If I can't trust my shik'isn, who can I trust?" Shannon's following directions, dancing in place a little to get a bit warmer, faster. Soon enough, the shivering slows, and stops altogether, and the young, slightly foolish healer in training can breathe a little easier.

Warpath has posed:
A soft chuckle and he leans on the wall, watching her to get warm again,"That's what I do." he tells her and sighs,"Just so you know, I won't be trying to fly like you any time soon. No matter how much I might want to."

Nightingale has posed:
"Well, of course n-not! You don't have wings like I do!" Shannon just stares at Warpath for several moments, looking him up and down. Then, she just bursts out laughing, shaking her head. The laughter in of itself does a lot to help her warm up again, too. "I'm sorry. It's just really hard to picture you with wings like mine."
