The Devil Drinks Whiskey
Date of Scene: 19 April 2021
Location: Club Lux, Melville
Synopsis: Tyler stops by Club Lux to find a piano-playing Lucifer, who then offers the kid a job.
Cast of Characters: Lucifer, Twitch

Lucifer has posed:
Generally speaking, Lucifer is normally a little late to any party that's happening at Club Lux. This early evening, however, he's actually downstairs sitting at the piano and playing a little tune. Not singing - not yet anyway - his fingers simply dance over the keys with the grace that comes from any master of the art. There's no DJ playing any music for people to dance to at the moment since Lucifer is gracing ears with a melody that is filled with both joy and despair. Anyone with an ear for the classical would recognize it as Mozart's Moonlight Sonata. A personal favorite of the Devil's if he's being honest (and he never isn't).

There's stragglers. The first of many who begin to fill the Sin Den with their presence. Drinking, talking, flirting...all lost to Lucifer in the moment as he plays. A waitress stopping by the piano to set a napkin down and places a glass of whiskey atop.

Twitch has posed:
The Lux calls to Tyler this evening. The young man's dressed up, at least as far as he's concerned. Leather jacket, button up shirt, black slacks and leather shoes make up his outfit.

As he moves through the establishment he looks over the various people gathered together to relax, drink and party. Occasionally his gaze will linger a moment longer than is usual, but generally the kid's head stays on a swivel. Following the sound of the piano to see where it's coming from, live music always being a draw, the young man spots his acquaintance tickling the ivories. His lips press together and he nods a bit, looking impressed with what he's seeing and hearing.

Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer continues the song for a bit longer, letting his fingers dance, his eyes close as he just plays and enjoys the simplicity of playing. It's almost like - for a moment - he's not Lucifer Morningstar, King of Hell. He's simply a man, playing a piano, and enjoying life. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and soon the song is done, the final notes flitting away into nothing as his fingers lift from the keys.

Reaching for his drink then, Lucifer takes a sip and then sets the glass back down. A shift of his gaze moves through the club to see who all is here and not here. He spies Tyler after a moment and offers the man a smile. "Ah, Mister Grant. To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit this evening?"

Twitch has posed:
"I'm out enjoying myself," Tyler explains with a grin. "Thought I'd spend the night dancing and partying and having a good time here." His hands slide into his pockets rather casually and he rocks back on his heels a little bit, "I really like this spot. It's probably my favorite club to come to right now. Good drinks, good atmosphere and the staff is awesome. Even the owner doesn't suck." He laughs lightly at his own remark, his head twitching slightly before he looks around once again. "How have you been?"

Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer smirks and inclines his head. "Well I am very gracious of you saying such. Though, I do suck, just not in a bad way - or so I hope." He seems to think on this a moment and then shakes his head with a chuckle. "There should be dancing and such in a little bit, I just felt like tickling the ivories a bit before anything got too crowded and such." He then shifts to stand, closing the piano and taking up his drink. "Join me at the bar? Can I get you something to drink tonight? First round on me."

Twitch has posed:
"I don't blame you for wanting to play, you're pretty good," Tyler says with a grin. "Not usually my kind of music, but it was pretty solid." When the bar is suggested the young man nods a couple of times, "Sounds good to me!" He begins to walk towards the bar, making sure not to outpace Lucifer.

Lucifer has posed:
"Thank you." Lucifer offers, even if the compliment was sort of half given. Then he motions and leads Tyler up the stairs and to the bar as promised, stepping up to seats that are empty on either side. "What would you like?" If Tyler remembers, there is no carding in his bar, as if you're already in then they pretty much assume that they're able to drink. No narcs at Club Lux. "At least coming early gives you pick of the prime when they begin showing up."

Twitch has posed:
"Vodka red bull, please," Tyler says as he settles onto one of the stools, taking a moment to relax and check out the establishment once more to make sure he doesn't miss out on anything good that happens to be going on. "Yeah, I'll be able to check out everybody who comes in. See if anyone catches my eye," the young man chuckles and rests an elbow on the bar.

Lucifer has posed:
"If I remember right, your friend Andrea was going to be your wing...woman...while you tried to pick up a lady for the night..." Lucifer comments idly before nodding to the bartender who soon serves the requested vodka and red bull. About to ask for payment, Lucifer shakes his head quickly and then smirks towards Tyler. "So what does a young man like yourself look for in a woman? Andrea was pretty quick to make sure you didn't just pick up a... well... slut."

Twitch has posed:
"Well, maybe for more than the night," Tyler admits with a little chuckle, sounding perhaps a bit sheepishly. "I like the idea of finding a woman who's good looking, got a sense of humor, likes some adventure." He shrugs his shoulders, "It's kind of hard for me to put my finger on it." Then there's another little laugh, "I think Andrea's worried about me."

Lucifer has posed:
"Why do you think she's worried about you?" Lucifer questions, watching Tyler for a moment. There's a way about the man, he doesn't mean for it to happen, but just the way he can look at someone can be...compelling. Like one cannot help but say what is on their mind, and perhaps even more than that. Lucifer lifts his glass to take a sip while watching Tyler for a moment or more longer and then finally will break his gaze away to watch as the DJ takes the stage.

Twitch has posed:
Tyler has to think for a moment on Lucifer's question. While he does he pulls some cash from his pocket to stick in the tip jar and lifts his drink to his mouth for a sip. Finally, he speaks, "I don't have a safe sort of life. I live with a bunch of other kids, usually. Kind of just disappeared for a while instead of finishing high school and now I work... I sort of do whatever needs to be done for money. I also train people at a fight gym." His lips press tightly together in thought, "Not everything I do is exactly legal. And some of it's dangerous."

Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer seems to think on things for a moment. "Would you be interested in something a bit more... permanant?" He asks the teenager. "Nothing to take you away from anything else you do, but see..." He motions towards an area that - upon close inspection - is robed off and hidden behind a black velvet curtain. "I'm opening up a new area of the club, and I could use someone with a few...hidden talents...to perhaps oversee things in that area sometimes."

Twitch has posed:
"As long as it doesn't cut into my main line of work I wouldn't say 'no' to working at the coolest club in the city," Tyler says with a big ol' grin on his face. He picks up his glass and has a sip while he eyes the black curtain. "What would you need me to do, Lucifer?"

Lucifer has posed:
"Well, the new area is going to be a mini casino and I think I could use someone like you to make sure that... things remain as proper as they can." Lucifer says. "I mean I know that dishonesty is somewhat of a trademark branded to me, but let's just say I can't have people trying to take the house, or anyone else...if you know what I mean." This much more as he leans back some, sips at his whiskey. "You don't have to say one way or the other just yet... give it a thought. The offer is yours if you'd like it."

Twitch has posed:
"I can handle that," Tyler says with a chuckle. "Keep things from getting out of hand and make sure nobody's taking more than they earn." He drinks some more of his cocktail, nodding his head and thinking hard. "I think I could handle that, but I'd need to know what would be expected of me. If someone gets froggy I can handle that and I'm really good at other... sneaky shit." No, he couldn't think of a cool way to say that. "What kind of games would it be? Mostly table games?"

Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer nods. "I mean, so long as you don't actually kill someone in my club... I can likely let you get away with literally anything else." He offers. "You need to toss someone out? Fine. Need to rough someone up? Fine. We'll have a room for that. I don't want people cheating me out of money they didn't earn by gambling. It's already a sin. I won't stand someone sinning to get more sinful pleasure." A smirk and he sips from his glass. "And yes, mostly table games. I think I'll have maybe a small row of slots but...I hate the way they sound. If I'm honest."

Twitch has posed:
"I wasn't planning on killing anybody," Tyler replies with a chuckle. "I'll see what I can learn about cheating at gambling so I know what to look for. I mean, to some degree counting cards can actually be good for a casino. If one guy looks like he's got a hot streak going on then other folks are more inclined to spend more money thinking they can catch up."

He takes another drink and says, "It sound like a fun gig. When would I start?"

Lucifer has posed:
"I'm officially opening it up on Saturday. Andrea and Jay will actually be performing here during the big reveal. I'm not sure who all else will show up, but I hope it will be a very...interesting night." Lucifer says this much. "If you can be here Saturday that would be good, get a feel for it and all. Then we can work out a schedule of sorts." He grins. "You'll get paid nightly, if that works for you...or I can get you on the payroll. Whatever works."

Twitch has posed:
"I'll let you know if I can make it," Tyler says with a nod. "I might have other business to attend to, but I'll try to make sure I'm free. Plus, I'd love to check out this place's grand opening." Then he starts to chuckle, "I better call your tailor so I have something nice to wear when I work here." Then he nods his head, "Getting paid nightly would be great, though."
