Cast of Characters: Superman, Wonder Woman

Superman has posed:
Another day, another city saved.

Superman has been -busy-. So busy that he rarely had time to speak with Diana, even if she was on his mind every waking moment of the day. Oh Rao, was he falling in love with the Amazon princess? Who could say? Would she love him back? Who could also say?

So many uncertainties, though Clark has decided that tonight -- of all nights -- he's going to try and tell her how he feels about her, rather than dance around the subject until the crack of dawn, or until she comes forward.

He's just...not used to this, if that makes sense.

So, by the time he gets back to his apartment in Metropolis, he shifts into some nice clothes, glasses and nice polo shirt and blue jeans and nice shoes, and...well, he texts Diana.

"Hey,

Want to stop by my apartment? I can make my world famous lasagna? Make a date night out of it? Let me know what you think,
- Clark"

and now...he waits.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Days and nights had their way of creeping by, stretching to be weeks. There had been various and assorted things which had called Diana's attention. Mostly, she's just been trying to be a bit more visible to the city and those within it. Perhaps a bit more aware of the voices within the city as well. She's tended to her duties at the art centre and at the embassy, and in between times, she's lent her help to assorted situations. The latest had been just the afternoon of the previous day. A school bus that had crashed while on the way with school children in it.

And yet, despite tending to the necessary things, her thoughts strayed to Clark on a somewhat regular basis. It was... distracting, but definitely not unpleasantly so. Life has a lot of uncertainties to it. Does she know how she feels about him? It's hard to say. She isn't exactly well versed in such matters, after all.

Thinking over things has led to Diana being on the roof of the embassy. She's sitting on the wall and looking out over the city when her phone dings where it's tucked in her pocket. She retrieves her phone, and smiles at seeing the message, and then opens it to read it.

'I can be there in a couple of minutes. Especially for your lasagna.'

She tucks the phone back into her pocket, and then she takes off in order to fly the distance from Manhattan to Metropolis. She's not dressed fancy in any way -- she wears just a pair of blue jeans and a grey t-shirt, and a pair of slip on shoes. It doesn't take her long to reach his apartment, to be standing outside. And once she's there, she lightly knocks on the door. And then it's her turn to wait.

Superman has posed:
Though Clark was largely unaware that he was even in Diana's mind, it was nice to know that they seemed to be noticing -something- going on, at least. So, as Diana knocks on the door to his apartment, Clark is quick to open the door, but...well, is certain to take off his glasses before he does so. As soon as the door opens, Clark smiles to Diana.

"Hey Diana." Her name is spoken like it was part of some sacred text.

"Thank you for coming on short notice. I wasn't trying to ignore you, but...well, duty calls for both of us I imagine. Uhm, you look absolutely beautiful, please come in." he steps aside then, allowing Diana to enter the premesis, to which she will be greeted by a very homely (but not ghetto) apartment with a round table slightly off to the right, which seems to be laid out like a romantic dinner.

"The lasagna is almost done, so...I kindly ask for patience in that regard, but don't worry, it'll be spectacular. How are you?" His hands perhaps seek hers, if she allows when he asks the question. He seems...nervous.

Wonder Woman has posed:
As the door is opened, Diana brings her gaze back to it from she had glanced away and down the street. And there's a warm smile that finds her features at the sight of him there. "Hey, Clark," she greets him, a warm note to her voice. Lifting her right hand, she brushes a bit of her hair from her face, lightly pushing it to her back.

"Given the speed that both of us are able to travel at, I am ot entirely certain that there is a such thing as 'short notice'. But it was very good timing. I have not eaten dinner yet," Diana says, her blue eyes showing a sparkle of amusement to them. "I did not think that you were trying to ignore me. Or that you were igoring me, either. We both have things that need our attention, and something at very unexpected times of the day and night," she says softly. She ducks her chin slightly at his compliment, and then she shakes her head faitly. "I am not," she says demurely.

She steps inside when he moves to allow her to, and she slips her shoes off by the door, to leave them there. "Thank you," she says softly, her blue gaze following him. Once within, she takes a look around, paying attention to the furnishings and little things that are around.

"Well, I do happen to be a patient sort, so... however long it takes for it to be done. It smells wonderful," she says, giving a small nod to him. She willingly lets him take one of her hands, her fingers slipping around his to give them a soft squeeze. "I have been well. I try not to get into trouble that is too terrible without help," she says, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "How have you been?" she asks, curious.

Superman has posed:
Clark smiles at Diana warmly, "fair enough." They could both break the sound barrier pretty much immediately, so one could assume that short notice would be any moment that super speed wasn't enough, when it usually is. All the same, he shrugs a little bit and he blushes ever so faintly when Diana reminds him that she didn't think he was ignoring her. "Whew, that's a relief." Though when Diana suggests she's not beautiful?

Clark smiles at her. "I wasn't talking out outer beauty, Diana. Inner beauty is where you are unmatched in the field." Clark mentiosn to her, smooth...or not smooth, whichever comes first, though by the time she mentions that it'll be as long as it needs to...they are now holding hands.

Clark's hands were warm and surprisingly soft, calluses have a hard time forming on hands that don't really get injured too often, squeezing her hands in return, Clark smiles at her. "I'm glad. If you were in trouble, I'd hope you call me or Bruce first." he mentions to her with a small laugh.

"I've been well. Mom and pop adored you, by the way. I'm sorry they called you my girlfriend like a thousand times." Clark mentions with a slight blush of embarrassment, even if he's saved by the ringing bell of the oven being done with it's cooking.

Wonder Woman has posed:
There's a smile that quirks at the corners of her lips when he agrees with her, and then she chuckles softly. "I would hope that you had not really thought that I would think such a thing as that," Diana says, one of her eyebrows quirking up. "Even though it has been mostly messages and phone calls, we have still kept in touch with each other," she adds, a smile coming to her features.

"There are always those who are more beautiful than what I am, both inside or out," Diana says softly, a bit of colour coming to her cheeks and a smile tugging her lips. "But I might perhaps let you away with it... this time," she comments, her eyes showing a touch of a sparkle to them. She lightly brushes her thumb over the back of his hand, choosing to let him keep her hand for at least the time being. She gives his hand a gentle squeeze, noticing the warmth and softness of his hand in hers. There's no callous to her hands either, even with all of the weapons practice that she partakes of at the embassy. "If I get into trouble, then yes... I would call you. You first, then Bruce. Or at least, if it were trouble where I needed help or that I could not handle myself," Diana says, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. She releases his hand when the oven timer goes off, to let him go and check on dinner.

"I was glad to meet them. They are both wonderful. And I did not mind that they did. And, well... perhaps they are not wrong, after all," Diana says softly, lifting one of her shoulders in a faint shrug.

Superman has posed:
Clark smiles ever so slightly. "Heh, yeah....I uh, well, even Superman can get a little self-conscious sometimes. I'm not exactly the best timekeeper in the world, but....you know, I try my best. I know you better than anybody, or...I like to think I do." Clark chuckles a bit, eyes looking away from hers, but then he looks back into her eyes.

"Maybe to others, truly. But you'll have a hard time convincing me." Clark mentions with the warmest of smiles, his fingers feeling hers, his palm pressed firmly to hers, his eyes refusing to leave hers for that long moment.

"It's an honor I'm never going to forget, and one that I extend back to you." even if sometimes he'd probably call Batman instead!

Ah, such is romance. Even as Diana admits that his parents probably weren't wrong, his cheeks flush, even as he leans in - not for a kiss - but just to give her nose a playful bump with his own. "I...sincerely hope they weren't wrong." He takes a deep breath. Then he goes and grabs the meal. He swiftly sets up some plates then sets their candlelit table.

"Though Diana, before we really start...I want to tell you something." Clark gulps, like he fears the worst that could happen. Hard not to think of the worst that could happen. "I've fallen hard for you." He tells her straight up, no bull, no weird mental game to get there...just Clark being himself and telling the straightforward truth. Even as he feels his heart in his throat out of fear that she won't feel the same way, even if all hints points to the romance in the air. At the moment, the table is set, but he's standing right in front of her.

Wonder Woman has posed:
"Everyone gets self-conscious to some degree or other, at some point," Diana says softly, a smile touching at the corners of her lips. "Even I do, sometimes," she adds, giving a small nod to him. "All we can do is our best, Clark. And it is what we do every day, and hope that it is enough. Hope that it makes a difference in things, that it shows people to make better choices. To make the right choices," Diana says, a thoughtful tone to her voice.

"You probably do know me better than nearly everyone else. We have known each other for a fair while, and I have always been comfortable in telling you things," she says softly, watching him. She tilts her head a touch to one side, and then she slightly ducks her chin for a brief moment before giving a small nod. "I know. You have been complimenting me for years and I have been trying to deny it," she adds, giving a soft chuckle.

"I will always come, when I am able to. I promise you that," Diana says, giving a small nod to him. "Though if there are things that Bruce would be better for or better at then I would hope that you would call him first," she says, quirking a smile.

She watches him retrieve the food and get the plates set on the table before he comes back to stand in front of her, and one of her eyebrows quirks up a touch. Curious and perhaps something more when he mentions wanting to tell her something. And then he says it, which catches her a bit off guard, and her chin lowers slightly as her cheeks colour. "I... do not know what to say to that, Clark. You know that I care very much for you," she says softly, stepping closer to him and lifting a hand to lightly bring the palm of her hand to his cheek. "I have lived a long time, but... I have little experience with this sort of thing. I enjoy every moment that I spend with you, and I want to spend more of them with you. Can you... be patient with me while I am figuring it out?" she asks softly. The challenges of having limited experience with affairs of the heart.

Superman has posed:
"That's fair." Clark replies to Diana on the basis of being self-conscious, though he seems surprised when Diana suggests she gets self-conscious too. "No way." Clark mentions with a light chuckle, but it's when Diana tells him her short speech, that the difference hope can make in someone's life, even when it's not shown immediately -- but it just -has- to be enough. To Clark, that's all he truly lives by.

"and I hold that knowledge with distinction. I will always come for you, when I'm able to and sometimes even when I'm not? I'll make the time." Clark tells Diana, even as he comes back to stand before her, baring his heart to her as he tells her how he feels.

Her hand, soft on his cheek as he rests his head against her palm, is like the sweetest of remedies to that which ails him. he takes a deep breath as he enjoys her warmth, before those blue eyes open to look deeply into her own, baring his own soul...and peering into hers.

Despite this, he does not seem upset at Diana for her asking for time. "Of course, Diana. I will never push you or force you to do anything." Clark tells her, his hand squeezing hers as he looks upon her.

"I..apologize if I was too forward." he tells her then, lowering his head. "But, I completely understand your decision." he smiles at her, warm as the sun.

Wonder Woman has posed:
"Sometimes, yes... even me," Diana says, quirking a smile as she watches him. Hope can be a powerful thing. She always hopes that people will learn from their experiences, and that they'll make better choices in the future. There's a brief gance towards the meal that he's prepared and the lovely table that he's set, and then she turns her gaze back to him.

"I appreciate that, Clark... it means a lot to me that you would. You have always made the time for me," she says softly, a warm smile coming to her features. She lightly brushes the pad of her thumb over his cheek, then softly moves her hand over his cheek. "It is what we do for each other... we come for each other, and we rescue each other when we need it. And sometimes, even when we do not. Sometimes, the rescuing is just being there with each other so that we are not alone," Diana says softly, lowering her hand to lightly brush her fingers over his shoulder before seeking his hand with hers. And she gives his already captured hand a squeeze, a smile coming to her features.

"You would not, I know. But you know I would push back," she says, quirking a smile. "I appreciate your patience... and you were not too forward, not at all. I had suspected it may be the case... it shows in your eyes sometimes when you look at me. There is a warmth there, and I like seeing it there," she says, giving a small nod. Then she slips one of her hands from his, to bring her fingers to his chin to lift his head before leaning in to kiss him softly on the lips. "We have time, and there is no rush," she adds, a bit of colour to her cheeks.

Superman has posed:
Clark smiles ever so softly to her, the way she touches him and the way she expresses her affection and care is enough to make anybody swoon, and that Clark is the subject of these attentions just makes him realize how lucky he is. He looks her in the eyes this entire time, his hands gently caressing hers, before his offhand comes down to rest lightly on her hip.

"and I'll always be there. Or at the very least, I'll find a way to be there." Clark tells Diana then with a smile.

But what surprises him most? Even as his eyes lower, is the feeling of her fingers against his chin to angle it upwards, and the warm feel of her lips against his. That was their first kiss together. Call him sentimental. But he even leans in perhaps just an inch for another kiss, still gentle, non-pushy. "All the time in the world." He adds back to her, color lining his cheeks.

"...and...I like seeing the way you look at me." Clark tells her with the warmest of smiles, looking like he's five seconds from swooning.
