Temptation: We Have Cookies
Date of Scene: 03 May 2021
Location: Tala's Place, Bludhaven
Synopsis: Tala tests to see if Willow is able to handle all magic. Her reaction to the test has results which please Tala. Never a good thing.
Cast of Characters: Tala, Willow Rosenberg
Tinyplot: Temptation

Tala has posed:
Training has been going on as they have been able to. It took place in Tala's sactuary, that unusual house with the windowless cellar that looked more like something out of a medieval castle. Though it was tidy, neat and clean. Tables with jars and ingredients. Against one wall was a framed circular item but it always had a purple drape over it, hiding it from view.

Tala was sitting, eyes closed, floating in the air with her legs folded, feet pressed together. It was a position Willow was familiar with, one Tala took when she was meditating.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"You know, I've been thinking. Maybe I should have a signature move? What do you think?" Willow was bouncing several balls of light as she thought. While they danced around she coloured each one a different hue, and when they 'hit' one another they turned brilliant and changed to a new one.

Willow was definitely getting bored.

"Did I tell you? I've got a new job. I will be looking after the metaphysical department. Cool, huh?"

Tala has posed:
"Metaphysical department? I am certain you will be good at that but curious what company has such recognition of things outside their version of normal." Tala says as she opens her eyes. They are glowing at the moment as she watches Willow. So much power and she's juggling light. She's so...innocent. It is a detriment to her power. It holds her back from reaching her full potential.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
With a big *bang* all the balls came together and collided with one another. Then with flick of her fingers they exploded into fragments that flew off into all the nooks and crannies in the room, then vanished.

"X-Corps. It's run by people like me. Well, sorta. They are mutants. But I was chosen because of the magic." Well, her grades did it. The magic was the cherry on top. "I'm bored."

Tala has posed:
"Then perhaps it is time to put away childish things," Tala returns with a faint smile. She walks over toward the circle on the floor, waving a hand so that candles float into place around the outer edges, one foot spacing between each.

"You have power but you don't believe in yourself. I would like to try something. Expose you to some magic to see how you feel when you experience it. It is a way for you to tap into more of your potential."

She tilted her head. "If you like it, it will open some more doors for us."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Really?" There must be a catch. There must. "Just feel it, and decide?"

Surely, she couldn't do it.. could she? Willow was beginning to think, maybe there wasn't all the hoopla. Maybe, it was all in your imagination. "Okay." She still was cautious.

Tala has posed:
"No catch. If you like it, we know we can take you down all the paths available to a witch."

That is enough to give Willow the information she was wondering. All the paths. Willow had played with white magic so far. She'd avoided dark. Which meant, this must be that other side.

"It will not harm you, I give you my word. Some people adapt to it. Others find it uncomfortable. The worst you will feel is perhaps a bit of discomfort but if so, I will stop immediately."

She motions to the protective circle, inviting Willow to step inside it.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Dark Magic.

(She always said it in caps.)..

How much of a difference could it be? After all, she really didn't want to try killing people, it was ~REALLY Dark Magic~.. but then again.. was it so different than killing a demon? After all, the magic did not put the parameters on itself, people did that. If she used the magic for good purposes, was it really bad?

In the back of her mind the alarms went off..

And for the first time she ignored them. In fact, she shushed them up, under the piles of other things she was not listening to, until it joined in the clamor. It was just one more thing to ignore.

With an expectant smile, Willow crossed over into the circle. "Yes!"

Tala has posed:
As Willow entered, Tala smiled. "It is just a precaution to have you inside the protective wards. So that should you have an adverse reaction, you don't damage the room." Not so she wasn't hurt. Just property damage. Apparently she was confident she would be okay.

She picked up a small box which had a golden latch on the front. This was carried over and offered to Willow. "When I tell you , just open the box and breathe."

She stepped out of the circle. A wave of her hands and the candles lit. Another had the circle on the stones below glowing purple. Though there was no sign of 'walls' they were there, just invisible.

Tala's eyes glowed slightly. "Open the box, Willow."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Weird. She should open the box? Willow had never heard of this. Magic was within you.. right? Right??

Unless..

Willow thought for a moment. Maybe this was a right of passage, where Tala asks her to do something, just a small little thing, to show her Willow was willing. Sorta like sororities. Only for magic!

That made perfect sense.

When the command came, Willow opened the box and ~breathed~.

Tala has posed:
As the box was opened, a purple smoke began to expand out from it. Far more smoke than was actually inside the box. It continued to grow, rising up and allowing Willow to take a deep breath.

There was one of two results that should happen.

If her body rejected it, Willow would cough a bit and feel a slight burn in her lungs, like someone trying a cigarette for the first time. If that were the result, Tala would draw back the magic and Willow would be fine.

The other reaction is what Tala hoped for. Willow would feel tingly, comfortable and warm. Then she would start to experience pleasure, a high like that given by strong drugs which would be illegal anywhere in this country. The high would wrap around her in a glow of her own magic color, allowing her to float into the air and leaving her to just enjoy the experience.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow had always been looking for this. Power. Confidence. Euphoria.

Within the time it took to breathe in, her body went all tingly. For the first time Willow didn't wonder 'what if this doesn't work??', she *knew* from her core *this* was right. For a while she was afloat with power. Her body gave off brillant steaks of ruby red, her own colour of magic.

She was happy. Truly happy.

Tala has posed:
It was just a sample really. Not a lot of the magic in that box. The feeling would last for about five minutes then fade and she would return to normal.

Tala didn't cut her time short either. Letting her experience that power, to know what she could be.

What she would be.

She moved to sit, there in the air, pressing her feet together as she watched her apprentice with a satisfied gleam in her eyes.

Things were going perfectly.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Too shortly, despite Tala letting her linger, it was gone, and Willow floated back to ground. "Was it always just on the edge of my periphery waiting for me to reach out and have it?" Asked Willow with a hush to her voice. Because she should have reached out sooner.

All the things she could have done!

Tala has posed:
As Willow returns to the regular world, Tala gives a nod. "It was. You have the power in you to do anything you wish but it requires you to tap into something within. Something that can overwhelm."

She walks over and lowers the wards around the circle, giving Willow her freedom.

"You must maintain balance in all you do. If you tap into only the light, you will find yourself a half power. If you tap into the dark, it is the same. Although the dark gives the illusion it is stronger, it is not."

She smiles. "We will expand your training to all magic now. No more limits for you, my dear. It is all at your fingertips."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Quietly Willow smiled. Not a pleasant smile, or even an evil smile. But a tiny one as she finally got it. Really got it. "Just.. me. It's all been just me."

Everything from this point onward would be different. This time nothing could stop her. Nothing.
