Ulik, King of Midgard!
Date of Scene: 04 May 2021
Location: Central Park, Manhattan
Synopsis: The Avengers Confront Ulik and defeat him!
Cast of Characters: Thor, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Slipstream, Black Widow (Romanoff), Quicksilver

Thor has posed:
Just minutes before midnight the sensors put into place around the crater that had once been the jogger's underpass in Central Park began to flicker with a slowly escalating rise in power. Once it passed the threshold beyond its normal window of variation the alarm systems triggered and automated word was sent out.
To various data devices the simple message sent was nothing more than, 'Central Park Gateway Energy Surge Noted.' Which to some was assuredly enough to get them into motion. While to others perhaps a more direct message was needed.
"Sire, your cellular device has declared an emergency." Bjarke's voice was loud against the murmur of New Asgard's main hall. Assuredly loud enough to cut through the hub bub of the courtiers and the advisors who had been speaking. The Asgardian Avenger turned and looked up.
    "What, it can do that?"
"Indeed, my lord." The captain of the guard said patiently.
    "Well then. An Avengers thing?"
    "It seems so, my lord."
    "Right then."
As similarly across the city word was sent to others more technologically savvy than King Thor. Though despite his challenges it's enough for at the stroke of midnight there is a rush of movement and then a heavy /thud!/ as from the sky lands the Son of Odin, hammer in hand with silver and black armor gleaming rather flatteringly in the glow of the spotlights that have triggered to life and point out the luminescent purple vortex that swirls in the middle of that crater.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
The first moment the enregy in that crater begins to change, Wanda Maximoff is aware of it. She had been sleeping. Afterall, it's all but midnight. Now, she is arriving, the scarlet flames that is her tell tale signature appear not far from the crater itself, just outside the guarded area. From the flames, Wanda steps with her brother hot on her heels. Straight toward the crater, Wanda's jade green eyes all but glued to it.

"This has to be them coming back to claim their cheesecake," she says to Pietro as she continues walking. Wanda walks around the vortex, looking at it from all angles. Studying it anew now that it's active once again. "Hmm."

Iron Man has posed:
There are many who often wonder if Tony Stark ever sleeps. Even now, this close to midnight, instead of being in bed like a normal person, he's been in his lab mulling over this and that tweak to his newest suit creation. It's nothing really in the physical works yet, now that he can run tests and hypothesis in holo-form, he doesn't have to trial and error in person.

Really, it's amazing.

So, cut to Jarvis alerting him to the same alert that most others have gotten in some form or fashion and he sort of blows it off for a moment while one of his tests run. Of course, this makes Jarvis become more and more insistent until Tony finally rolls his eyes. "Okay, okay, I got it." Even as he talks he's heading out onto the balcony, hitting buttons on his wrist watch and he jumps off the edge of the balcony just in time for his Mark 7 suit to envelop him so he can fly towards Central Park, and lands just beside Thor, his helmet rolling back enough to expose his face. "Thor."

Slipstream has posed:
Having been on 'cheesecake duty' along with Tony's credit card, Drake pulls up the large food truck up to the curb. It seems that they must have got a good deal with Cheesecake Factory for all the advertising that is plastered around the truck. After putting the truck in park, he slips out the driver's seat and makes his way to the back to open it up to reveal multiple shelves of cheesecake that is in a self-contained storage unit. He gives a rub at his eyes, then snags one for himself for quality purposes.

As he heads over to the others, he stabs a fork into the cheesecake, taking a bite from it after dipping it into cherry sauce. He gives a nod to Thor and Tony, then hands the bowl of cheesecake over towards Wanda.

"Hey guys." He says as he reaches behind him to tap Snowball on the head to detatch her from his harness on his back.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
The sound of a motorcycle engine pressed to its limits could be heard before it arrives, ignoring all propriety and zipping along the walkways in the park. Otherwise it would take even longer for her to arrive and she's pretty sure she won't be getting a ticket for it. Hopefully.

Natasha heels down the stand for the bike then swings her leg over to dismount. She's in her costume, Glocks in their holsters on either thigh, then a rifle of some type slung over her shoulder. She has on an extra belt with several pouches since guns need ammo. And she had the feeling she might need extra tonight.

She's gotten a haircut since the last time she was with the team. Short, almost a pixie style. Still her signature red. A glance is given to the Cheesecake Factory truck as she shakes her head. "We're really doing this."

Thor has posed:
"Stark, Wanda." Thor answers as he stands alongside them. Then he glances at Quicksilver, "Other Maximoff."
He takes a brief instant to shoot a smirk at the Scarlet Witch before he advances forward a few steps, glancing down at the mostly filled in circle that had been marked in the dirt around the vortex. He lifts a hand toward Drake as the other Avenger joins them.
Then he touches a hand to his ear and announces likely loud enough to reach Natasha before she's even fully in sight of the crater.
    // I am on the comms! //
Now that everyone is clear of that point he turns and looks at the others. "Have we any idea as to when the..."
Before the rest of the words leave the Asgardian's mouth there is a low rumble of the vortex twisting inwards, curling in on itself like a donut, then rapidly flipping back around to the other side creating a brilliant rush of light that bathes all of the Avengers in a purplish haze that shines across the distance. It is in that eerie light that the vortex opens large creating a glimpse toward a flowing ethereal tunnel which seems impossibly long in distance and scope, yet is suddenly shrouded by the myriad of shapes that advance upon it.
Through the glowing light of the beyond, the twelve foot tall creatures stalk, yellow and brown of fur with bestial features and cruel eyes. The Trolls of Nornheim are severe looking monstrosities, covered in scars and patchwork armor, their weapons wickedly curved and for those sensitive to such rich in magical power. The tallest of them seems to leer happily as he saunters through, and then suddenly there is a CRACKLE of energy when that small gateway surges and a twenty foot tall mammoth /crashes/ across the gate, heavy feet crushing the ground before it and its armored form bristling with spines and spikes and blades. It trumpets its arrival with a loud roar even as the trolls walk out...
Precisely to that line in the dirt they had marked.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda Maximoff blinks as cheesecake is suddenly in her face. She turns her eyes from the vortex and blinks again. "I seem to have missed everyone arriving. Thanks Drake," she says, accepting the cheesecake with a smile for him. She tries a bite of it, then offers it to Tony, to continue the tradition of cheesecake quality testing purposes. "Hey Thor. Tony. Nat." Her eyes slide back to the vortex o' doom, now. She winces at the very loud voice on the comms, and glances briefly to Thor. Then back to the vortex.

"It feels li-." That's all she gets out before the rumble and the inward twisting. She steps over to her brother and murmurs something too quietly to be heard. Then the mammoth arrives. "They have a mammoth.."

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark takes the cheesecake from Wanda as it's passed off, looking it over and then glancing over to Drake. "Did you get something for yourself, DoorDash?" Asking him this as he takes a bite of the cheesecake and nods his head. "Where's Nat? Nat?" He looks around for a moment until he spies the pixie-haired redhead and gives a smirk, offering cheesecake. "Looks like we are. Anyone wanna fill me in on this..."

It's all he really gets to say before the ground trembles and that vortex plays open and shut to infinity and where the wild things are. When the trolls and such begin to come forth, spitting themselves out from the vortex itself, he raises a brow. "We're gonna need a LOT of cheesecake..."

Slipstream has posed:
"... I got a lot of cheesecake." Drake says to Tony as he presses his lips together in a thin line. He openly stares at the large mammoth that comes through, then over towards the large trolls. He takes in a deep breath as he clears his throat. "When shit like this happens every day, I still don't understand how the rent is so high."

He'll inch himself back behind the big guns, that which would be Thor and IronMan .. and Wanda. He'll probably stand behind Nat as well at this point. Finding himself next to Pietro, he gives the other speedster a shoulder bump before he grows quiet and sizes up the situation.

At the moment, he is examiming the distance between the portal and potential innocents so he yank them to safety in the case of a skirmish.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
As the vortex opens, Natasha takes up a spot at the end of the line of Avengers. Just in time for the trolls to arrive. But things can't stop there. Giant trolls isn't enough because this is their lives. "Right here, Tony," she answers, taking the cheesecake and passing it over to Pietro without partaking of the yummy goodness.

"Thor, did you know they have war mammoths?" Because really, there is no other explanation for the thing bristling with everything except the kitchen sink. It wasn't just mammoth but a war mammoth. "If so, in the future, might be a thing to let us know ahead of time." She considers a moment. "Let's hope they like cheesecake. Otherwise we'll be going full Lord of the Rings and not an archer to be seen."

Thor has posed:
At first it's a handful of trolls, perhaps six... seven. Then the mammoth as it trundles forth. A number of other shadowy silhouettes emerge until it is a proper crowd of the large creatures, each murmuring in their guttural and rough language.
There is at first some question as one, then another motion to the area of ground with the furrow of dirt filled in, and a few pointing in the way of the gathered worthies who seem to be there to greet them. Around the heroes there are fortunately not too many civilians as the area had been cordoned off, yet with the explosion of light and activity a crowd is gathering distantly toward the nearest street side of the park as lookie-loos hold up their phones and try to capture images of what passes.
The tension builds and in the quiet Thor says toward Natasha, "Indeed, they at times do, fierce creatures."
    The moment lingers.
Then Thor adds, "Good meat on them though."
Then a voice, rough and deep calls out. "Thor. Thor Odinson is that your ugly visage I see before me?"
"Ulik, you misbegottten filth!" Thor's voice is heard in reply, loud and thankfully not keyed onto the comms. "They told me it was you, but I didn't believe them. I couldn't imagine even you being this stupid."
"Hah! I thought you and your ilk were dead. Well we'll fix that soon enough shall we?" The grim troll laughs and brandishes the heavy metal knuckles that he wields on each massive fist.
"Not quite, are you certain you wouldn't wish to try some of the cheesecake?"
    "What?"
    "The cheesecake you asked for?"
"I suppose we could. By the bye, how many of you are there?" Ulik rests his hands upon his hips, looking curious as he swings his great maw back and forth to eye the Avengers.
"We are six in number, have you enough trolls to handle us?"
"Six. Then we shall use six! And perhaps our war mammoth. Winner takes the realm. Bargained well?"
"Aye. Well and done." Thor says, actually laughing at the prospect as he unslings Mjolnir and takes it in hand.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
"... a lot more cheesecake," murmurs Wanda. She is quiet, thoughtful, as she watches the bargaining session between Thor and Ulik. She winces once at the name calling, but refrains from comment herself. And in the end... well. Six on six, and perhaps a war mammoth. Those odds aren't /too/ bad, right? She takes a moment to look at each of her fellows in turn before turning her full attention back to the trolls. Really. It could be worse. They could be fighting the whole band of trolls.

Iron Man has posed:
"Sorry, but, who made Thundercat over there the speaker for us?" Tony asks, while looking between Thor and the trolls. "I thought the deal was we give them cheesecake and they like it and then leave us alone?" At least, that's what he seemed to gather until Ulik and Thor began talking about six on six and winner takes realm. A tap and his mask reappears over his face completing the full iron man suit once more. If there's about to be a fight of any sort, he supposes he'll have to be ready. Flipping to his comms inside his helmet he continues, <<I have a feeling this is going to hurt before it doesn't>>

Slipstream has posed:
"I fought aliens in space, and been through the milkyway and got to fight parasitic mold .. but here is where I die .. gonna get stepped on by an Asgardian mammoth." Drake is murmuring to himself as he bounces a bit back and forth on his feet as he watches the back and forth between Thor and Ulrik. He slips his bomber jacket off and folds it in half, placing it on the top of a bench.

Giving a glance over towards the cheesecake, he looks over towards Wanda, then back to the other cast of Avengers as he taps a few times on his communicator bracelet to summon Snowball to his side as she whirls around him in an orbit.

"You guys want me on civilian duty while you guys beat the shit out of them?"

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
<It's never that easy,> Natasha says with a chuckle over the comms. Not humorous. Just the irony of their lives as Avengers cannot be denied in a moment like this. <But look at it this way. More cheesecake for us at the Mansion later.> Since she is going to assume there is a later. Better to think that way.

With her luck, these things are bullet proof. Unless it's a really big bullet. Thus having brought a bigger gun this time. But she's not without other tricks up her ebony sleeves.

"Wait, so we are going to fight even if you like the cheesecake?" Just to be clear on that point. "If that's the case, forget the cheesecake and let's just get down to business." She eyes the trolls. "I'll take the big one." As she looks up and up and up to finally look it in the eye. Course, that one is likely Ulik so Thor will probably take him but points for guts.

Thor has posed:
Turning back, Ulik yells and in a much more throaty and deep language snarls at the other trolls, gesturing to each of them as he chooses his five compatriots. All of them are stern, severe, staggeringly muscular and look in some cases of more ill-will than Ulik himself. Their weapons are myriad, from polearms, to a heavy axe and shield, to one with a recurved bow that has arrows almost as tall as Drake. The War Mammoth turns its slow ponderous gait to the side as it lines up.
Ulik calls out, "Rakil! Go and acquire their cheesecake while we and the warriors slay their champions. If it is worthy we shall keep it."
That said the six trolls square up, readying their weapons, tightening the straps of their armor, adjusting the hang of plate pieces. The Mammoth roars again as a shrine upon its back flickers to life, glowing with an angry orange flame.
"Are you ready then? If so we shall charge you." Ulik calls out as he plants a hand upon the ear of the Mammoth and /swings/ himself up on its back.
"Aye then." Thor looks to the others, perhaps checking for signs of disagreement. To Drake he murmurs, "Clear them if you can, but we will need you to rejoin the fray, I fear."
A look is given toward Tony, "Forgive me, Ulik and I have... history."
He rounds back, "We are ready."
And with that a great shout comes from the horde of trolls all screaming as one while Ulik kicks his mount into motion. The other trolls break into a run, spreading out to try and crash into the heroes like some great wave of yellow and brown furred flesh as mud and stone are churned up under their massive boots.
Yet the first strike comes not from Ulik, nor his mammoth, nor the chargers. But instead Wanda will feel a surge of power from the archer in back as he nocks, draws, and fires all in the same movement. One arrow lifting up in a clean arc rising high overhead, and then suddenly /exploding/ into hundreds of shafts that lance down toward the Avengers with dire purpose.
She only has a moment, barely two as the Scarlet Witch senses that surge, gathers her own palpable might and slashes her hands out with fingers twisting the invisible threads of reality. That crimson glow comes to life brightly around them, blasting into being as a dome and canopy sizzles with energy and absorbs each of the shafts, causing some to fade out of existence while others burn with a snap of crimson flame. Each one however seems to cause a wrack of pain to lash out across the features of the beautiful sorceress as her defense absorbs deflects...
And that is when the second arrow is fired straight at her. There is the distant /thrum/ of the bowstring, and a brilliant green shaft that seems to flicker in and out of reality that doesn't become fully visible until it _strikes_ heavy against Wanda's shield, exploding with a loud report. Loud enough to blast through and send her flying. Strong enough to cause that shield to collapse...
And powerful enough to leave the Scarlet Witch crumpled upon the ground as awareness leaves her.
Thor's voice is heard as he roars, Mjolnir spinning quickly and then snapping forward as he counter-charges, "Isolate the archer!"

Iron Man has posed:
The barrage of arrows being taken out by Wanda's shield allows Tony the ability to quickly shift and fly up into the air. He flies around a bit to get a decent vantage point on the troll shooting the arrows, and he extends his arms out to send a power blast in the direction of the arrow shooting troll. <They can have the cheesecake if they get it. If they survive to get it back to their home. Lets just get them to the point they'll at least surrender and leave...> This much spoken while he reads statuses through the visor of his helmet.

Slipstream has posed:
There is a whirl of blue light that shimmers around Drake as he blinks away from the spot he was standing in, rapidly reforming in front of Wanda when she hits the ground. He slides his arms around her, scooping her up, then blinks once more away as he hopscotches a hundred yards away to ensure that she can be safely placed down and away from the danger.

"Snowball, ice storm."

The gold floating robot gives a loud 'bwoot' noise as she absorbs the air around her, freezing it on a molecular level before sending out a blast of shards towards the archer. They're sharp and frozen, like thick icicles that zip across the night sky. If anything, it's a distraction.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Natasha unslings the rifle and has it at her shoulder in an instant. She takes aim for the archer--only to find someone else got to him first. So she turns that shot in another direction, aiming for the center mass of another troll. That should answer if the high powered rifle is going to be any good against these things or if she should just put away childish things.

But then everyone is moving and she does the same, dodging a swing from one of the trolls and leaping to the side. She manages to sling the rifle back behind her in the process. Another quick dodge and she is getting a feel for his speed. Timing is everything.

Next swing, she jumps /toward/ the arm, using it as a pole-vault and twisting her body to the side to come down, sitting atop it's shoulders at the back of its neck. Then she puts her fist an inche from the back of it's skull and fires a Widow's Bite. Might as well see if they are electricity proof. Her costume will insulate her from the current.

Thor has posed:
Repulsor blasts fire, lacing the air with blazes of light that cause the ground around the thin troll with the recurve bow to explode with impact after impact. Enough to foul its aim on the next shot as its large arrow blurs off into the distance and slams into a tree trunk where it thrums loudly. Yet it's enough to force the creature into a run as it tries to find what cover it can.
Though the data in his helmet will at the least flash through letting him know that Wanda, while down, is at the least still alive. Then with that flicker of reality she is also safe in Drake's arms.
The small gleaming robot twists perfectly and times its fire right with Iron Man's to bracket the flight of the archer, exploding its ice storm blast with a crackle of rapid temperature compression, blasting forth at the smaller troll as it rounds the bend...
And straight into the blast. Dozens of icicles crash into it, some shattering into shards to pepper its body as it instinctively raises its arm to try and block what smashes into it, allowing the ice to slice into its flesh and embed there in its arm, its side, its leg blasting it backward as the bowstring on its weapon snaps with a twang.
On the front line, however, the Mammoth charging and the trolls rushing in... they are met with the impact of Thor /slamming/ into one with his shoulder and sending the burly monstrosity flying. He rounds on another only for Natasha's round to _crack_ hard straight into its gut. Not enough to perhaps kill it, but enough for its eyes to widen immensely as its stride is brutally checked, the wind knocked out of it and it hits the ground in a roll.
There is a rooooar as the Mammoth continues its charge, with Ulik laughing and cackling all the way, until Thor spins around back the other way as Mjolnir sings with its ethereal /WHOM!/ and CRACKS hard into the knee of the beast's right foreleg, fracturing it with an audible snap of bone that sends it tumbling forward. Ulik, dismounted and rolling across the ground roughly, curses as he tries to gain his feet quickly.
The focus of the creatures is on Thor at first, though one is suddenly beset upon by the wily Black Widow as she leaps across the distance, twists around the creature even as it swings its axe wildly at her. Then there is the BZZZT of her Widow's bite blasting into its skull, searing the fur and flesh and causing it to stagger, though it remains standing for the moment.

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark flies back around to get into a better line of sight of some of the charging trolls who are trying to break back their own main line which composes of Thor and Natasha at this point. He locks target with his visor to all of the trolls he can and then sets off the guided micro projectiles that come from his right shoulder.

A split second later, he comes back around and fires another round of repulsar blasts in the direction of the archer troll - considering if it's up or down. If it's down he'll fire it towards the next troll in line - for the moment letting Thor and Ulik have their own stand off.

Slipstream has posed:
Once Wanda is secured and Slipstream is re-entering the fray, he has been 'bursting' here and there rapidly, even though he's not attacking. It's as if he is gaining speed, more and more as he goes, trying to gather up as much momentum as he can. He will never be as fast as Pietro or the Flash on any given day, but tThere is one that he has at his disposal and that is his sonic 'boom' that he can weaponize when he gathers enough kinetic energy around him.

As a burst of blue light can be seen entering the backline, he drives himself towards one of the trolls that looks to engage with Natasha, seeking to backup his fellow squishy human. He aims for the back of a knee, looking to strike the troll at the speed of a rocket as he pushes outwards with the speed he has gathered.
There is a loud rumble of a BOOM as he cracks the air, slamming both of his fists as hard as he can, letting out a loud scream as he feels his body wrack with pain from the blast. For the most part he could knock a hole in the building .. with a troll? Maybe break the leg if lucky.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
That...didn't go as she'd hoped.

Before it could reach up and get ahold of her to do whatever a super strong giant troll might do, Natasha rolled backwards off it's shoulders so she would avoid that flailing hand coming her way. While in midair, she aimed her arms in the direction of more trolls, firing off a few grenades which should blow in about three seconds from the moment they were fired.

She landed on the ground behind the troll. she twisted her wrists hard to the outside, activating the release mechanism. Two handles dropped into her hands and a push of a button, they expanded out to full-sized batons, trails of blue light dancing on their surface.

This time her attack was physical and electrical. She aimed a baton for the back of its knee with all her power behind it then spun and struck at where the sciatic nerve would be on a human. Unfortunately, she has no idea of troll physiology would be the same in that area so it might be for nothing but it was worth the attempt. If the batons were to hit either target, they would release a blast of electricity at each impact point, on the same level as her Widow's Bite.

Thor has posed:
With a series of whistling reports the myriad of mini missiles burst from their launcher, twisting through the air and leaving tiny contrails of smoke as they split up and slash through the air on their way to their targets. It's timed well just as one of the trolls is trying to bring the butt of his spear back and crash it toward Black Widow, only for the missiles to burst around his head, face, neck, and ears...
Which is enough to cause his strike to go amiss and /crack/ hard into the face of his comrade who had already been dazed by the Widow's bite. That troll goes down even as Natasha leaps clear. While the other trolls are given moments of distraction, taken aback as they wave their arms and try to protect their faces from the miniature explosives that set off with each impact.
It's a rapid staccato paff-paff-paff while the spear-wielder reels, shaking his head. He staggers back then that rumbling BOOOOM! Is heard as Drake's power surges with his bursting into reality square behind the troll warrior's leg. He hurls himself bodily into the large meaty flank of the monstrosity, his fists crashing hard into the side of that knee. He'll feel that burst of pain, the heavy JOLT of the impact dancing up his arms, but is rewarded with the surrender of bone against flesh accompanied by a cartilaginous crackle as the troll hits the ground on one knee.
Now that Widow is clear, flipping free, she spins and hurls those grenades in a wide pattern around the two other trolls that bracketed Thor. It was just as they struck, and were struck by the mini-missiles that her own grenades go off, causing one to be knocked off balance only for Mjolnir to crash through what remains of his guard and send him /hurtling/ across the distance to crash through the boathouse on the lake, shattering wood and concrete as the building collapses around the creature.
Then she sets upon the other with the hiss and sizzle of those batons crashing them repeatedly into the one troll with the twin axes. Which, to her credit, turn it from one side to the other as it tries to smash an axe down upon her. Though when the jolts hit it, it for whatever reason laughs at the burning blasts of electricity, seemingly unphased.
Which leaves Thor with Ulik, "Should have given you twelve warriors, Ulik."
"Hah, you haven't won yet, Thunderer."

Iron Man has posed:
Well, they're making some work out of the trolls, and that could be considered a good thing. As Drake sends one troll to it's knees, he smirks <<Nice job, Doordash.>> Before watching as Natasha seems to be barely dodging the axe wielder being tickled by those batons rather than taken down by them. <<Alright. Coming back around.>> Which he does, flying a bit higher before streaking down towards the group of trolls again, this time shooting out a plasma-charged repulsor blast from each hand at the axe wielding troll. <<Nat, you need a lift out of there?>>

Slipstream has posed:
As he rises up to his feet, Drake gives a crab like walk to one side, feeling his body smoking from disrupted o-zone. He lets out a loud cough, spitting out a mouthful of blood. He fires forward two paces of speed, then rockets back to send a speed boosted fist into the troll's face once he hits the ground on one knee. There's another small pocket of 'boom' behind him as he lets it a loud grunt. "G fucking G." He hacks out before he rockets away again on his way past to survey the battlefield and to support whoever may need it next.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
<I think if I slow down to...> Pause as she dodges an axe blow and applies another slam of the baton to the back of the knee of the troll. <...for the lift...> Dropping low so the axe swipe goes over her head but she loses a fraction of an inch of hair on one spot it is so close. <...there might be two parts of me.>

Hearing him coming around, she grins a bit. <I will vacate the area though.> And suddenly she is moving away from the troll in a series of rapid backflips, putting distance between him and herself. <If double axes stays up, he's immune to electricity. At least what I have. Not sure Thor levels.> she adds.

She comes to a stop a bit away and assesses the scene for another target as she adjusts her wrists just so, loading more grenades into place so she'll be ready to fire again.

Quicksilver has posed:
Somewhere in the background of things, Pietro has been busy! Wanda had been taken to safety, and so he didn't have to worry about her. Though that seldom stops his brain from doing just that. The park hadn't been empty when the trolls had arrived, and so he'd left the bashing and smashing to the people who were better suited for it. He'd been dashing about to grab up the innocent folks caught in the cross-fire, so to speak, and getting them to the nearest safest exit of the park. After getting everyone he could find -- which might not necessarily mean everyone -- out of the immediate danger area, he skids to a stop to take a minute to catch his breath. And to reassess things.

Thor has posed:
In the air above the conflict, the Invincible Iron Man banks smoothly taking in the situation before his jets kick in and fire with a greater blaze of ARC energy, sending the crimson and yellow Avenger back down toward the fray. Those blazing repulsor blasts impact heavily into and around the dual-wielding berserker as it brandishes its weapons ready to slash downward at Natasha. Strong enough to sizzle the fur, heavy enough to send him reeling, he staggers back with each /ZZZORCH-SASH!/ of impact, trying to shield himself with his axes while the lithe Black Widow is able to flip through the air and away taking a moment to survey the situation.
    And failing.
Though in the middle of the crashing crackling blasts, there's another loud KWOOMPH! as Drake's fists snaps forward carrying the insistence of inertia and speed into the side of the troll's head that he had been facing. At first its eyes go _wide_ almost comically so were it not for the abrupt onset of obliviousness that has them roll upwards into that heavy sloped skull and twists it around, leaving it slumped into the ground with a thunderous impact.
In the next moment there's that blur of motion and suddenly Quicksilver materializes upon the edge of the fighting nearest the lake. The civilians had been rushed to cover and secured at the edge of the park itself. For most of them the situation seemed almost instantaneous. One moment they were filming the battle, the next there was an abrupt jolt that felt rough at first then almost instantly compensated and suddenly they were looking at the old wrought-iron gate that led to Central Park from 5th Avenue.
Around the battlefield Ulik's voice was heard roaring, "Rally to me!" As he held one his his great Uru-Metal knuckles into the air, drawing his forces together as he could. And to the Trolls' credit they were able to do so in part. The Archer rushed forth from cover, brandishing a wicked hunting knife in his uninjured hand. The rubble around the boathouse cracked and crumbled then exploded outwards as the burly greataxe wielder surged forth with a guttural cry. The berserker roared his defiance even as his skin sizzled trying to break into a heavy run toward Ulik and away from the blazing fire of Iron Man. Even the Mammoth sounded its cry trying to push itself to its feet as its wounded leg defied its wishes to rejoin its master.
"Enough, Ulik!" Thor's hammer lashes to life with the burst of lightning surging forth, "You cannot stand."
Only for Ulik to laugh with defiance as he rushes forward, one heavy pummeling fist /crashing/ down into the ground to shatter the concrete of a walkpath, sending shards flying as Thor is forced to leap back. "Ulik never falls!"

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda Maximoff is down. Remains down. She shows no signs of getting back up any time soon, either. It takes her a little bit to get herself awake again. And when she does, she lays there, blinking up at the sky. Wait. The sky? That doesn't seem right. There was... something. Something. What was it.

And then? Then she hears that voice. Rally to me. Rally to me. Rally...? Ulik. Fight. Central Park. Wanda's magic starts to glow about her hands, and she rises into the air. Her eyes fix onto Ulik.

"Ulik," she hisses. Wanda brings her hands up and toward each other, fingers curled in. Her fiery magic forms around the trolls' leader. As her hands squeeze further together, her eyes blaze with anger, and that ball of magic around Ulik tightens. Tightens, until it's squeezing the troll himself.

Iron Man has posed:
As Ulik calls his warriors to his side, Tony comes back around and hovers just so behind Thor while the two exchange words. Well, sort of exchange words. That troll fist shattering the ground doesn't bode very well and he just sighs. <<Alright. Guess negotiations are now completely off the table. You said axe man can withstand electricity Nat?>> There's a pause as Tony takes off into the air. <<Lets see how they can handle another missle shot.>>

Not that he *wants* to fire a missle in the middle of Central Park, but there's already been enough damage done that's going to have to be paid for. If he localizes the blast it shouldn't do too terribad of damage and maybe finish off at least one troll. Maybe the mammoth. He'll wait though...especially as he sees that red begin to glow around Ulik. <<Maybe another round of the smaller ones again..>> So he switches from tact missle to the micro-projectiles that have reloaded one (likely final) round. Aiming at the middle of Troll-ville, and firing.

Slipstream has posed:
Feeling himself 'drained' and his bracelet on his wrist beeping at him in annoying manner, Drake peels out of the fight as he gives a raspy command. "Snowball, stick to Black Widow, I'm going to clear out some civilians." There's a 'bwoop' from the little droid as the golden Stark Bot soars over towards Natasha. If necessary, she will use her ice powers to blast away and lay down cover fire.

At this time, the speedster is making his way over towards a couple who got pinned by a knocked over tree, helping them out and blurring them towards the incoming EMS, then moves off once more to find another to support. He just needs a bit of time to rewind while the bigger guns on the team handles business.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
For the moment, Natasha is taking her chance to breathe. It's important, especially if a fight is going long. To maintain and keep the body supported for those levels of activity.

The things seem to be bullet proof. At least one of them is electricity proof so that bodes ill for the others. The grenades seemed to have some effect at least. But she had a few other tricks still.

A few shifts of her right wrist brought a new weapon into play. Her left remained loaded with explosive grenades. And she still had plenty of Bites.

Quicksilver has posed:
There's the call from the troll, and Pietro glances in that direction as he lifts a hand to pull his fingers through his hair. His brow furrows, and he takes a moment to glance over the others who are fighting. To Thor, near to the troll leader. To his sister, as she rises up into the air, and he tilts his head faintly to one side. "Welcome back, Wanda," he says softly, a small smile touching his lips, even though she can't likely hear him from there. And then he pulls his attention away from his sister, to scan the rest of the battlefield. And the war mammoth. Nothing that started out with a simple sort of idea ever seemed to stay that way, did it?

Thor has posed:
There's the ringing sound with its deep resonance as impact upon impact is heard as Ulik and Thor trade blows, the great Uru weapons clashing. Mjolnir rebounds off of one of Ulik's pounders only for Thor to twist out of the way of the counter-punch and /crash/ a double-fisted blow into the Troll Chieftain's back. It's enough to send him stumbling forward where he spins to face the Thunderer, snarling as his rage starts to take him. Then a crimson sphere seems to coalesce around him, giving him a moment of puzzlement...
Only for Iron Man to blast up into the air, snaring the attention of the wild brawler. Those myriad contrails burst from the missile-launcher on the exo-armored Avenger causing a spattering series of explosions that sets the trolls to shielding themselves and taking cover. The archer brandishes his blade and flips it around holding it blade first as he starts to take bead on the armored entrepreneur.
The couple near Drake see him approaching and the young woman tells him, "Thank God, can you help him? Please!" As she's trying to strain and pull on the heavy tree trunk that has the man's leg trapped, his expression one of pain as it's clear the limb is crushed. Only for him to tell the young Avenger, "Forget about me, get her out of here, please!"
Yet as that plays out, the small StarkTech robot flashes across the distance and takes up station six feet behind and above the Black Widow its sensors flaring to full focus as it engages its combat subroutines in full escort/protection mode as it signaled its position and support with an electronic chirp, giving Natasha time to survey the situation and reload.
Though as the other trolls shield themselves from Iron Man's volley, Ulik /strains/ against the heaviness of the red energy that swirls around him and begins to constrict and compress, twisting into crimson tendrils that slither over his body. Like small eldritch serpents that bite and hold onto his body while their tails slash into the ground to pull him downward, Ulik finds himself inexorably drawn downwards until one of his knees cracks into the pavement.
"You fool!" He growls, the metal pounders in his hands surging with their own magical might. "No spell can hold Ulik for..."
Only for Thor's boot to /slam/ into the Troll's chest and send him crashing to the ground where the crimson bands now tighten and constrict, locking him into place. And as if that wasn't enough there's a low /whom/ as Thor sets Mjolnir down on the troll's chest.
"Yield, Ulik. This fight is over. Tell your men to stand down."
Ulik heaves a mighty sigh, looking down at the sizzling spell that binds him, and the weight of Odin's spell placed upon the mighty hammer. His face twists, contorts, then twitches into a snarl before he finally lets it go and growls.
"Oh, alright. STAND DOWN! STAND DOWN, DAMN YOU!"
And as quick as that, the trolls... still reeling from the Mighty Avengers, lower their weapons.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Indeed. Wanda cannot hear her brother from where she is. And she's a bit too preoccupied to notice, anyway. To notice any of the others, really. Just enough to notice what they're doing and stay out of the way of it. As Ulik strains, Wanda presses her hands closer together, the sphere of red light growing smaller and smaller as she does. Until it swirls and turns to eldritch serpents.

She tilts her head ever so slightly as she's called a fool, and squeezes, just a liiiiittle bit more. "Mine can," she says, the grin of a smile baring teeth and making it more of a snarl. And proceeds to prove that her spell can hold the troll. Of course, she only needs to prove it until Mjolnir is on Ulik's chest.. but Wanda leaves it in place until the troll leader tells his people to stand down.

She relaxes her hands and the magic evaporates into tiny little snakelets that seem to disperse into the ground. She snaps her eyes at the archer, and floats over to where his broken bow lays. "I'll be taking this," she says. The broken string is entwined in crimson fire, and when it goes, the string is once more whole.

Her jade green eyes turn to the archer once more. "And those." The quiver with the arrows floats from the troll to Wanda.

The Scarlet Witch turns her back on him and floats toward Thor. She looks down on Ulik. "You should have taken the cheesecake. You would have had a better time of it," she says as she floats to the ground to stand beside Thor, the bow and arrows in hand.

Iron Man has posed:
There's a moment taken as Tony assesses things from where he hovers in the air, watching as Thor and Ulik clash time and time again until those scarlet whisps hold the troll leader down. Then there's a Thor placing Mjolnir on the chest of Ulik and the troll leader is yelling for his own to stand down. Iron Man glides down to the ground, landing in front of the yielding trolls, his helmet pulling back to reveal his face once more.

He takes a moment to glance back to the van that had been parked before all this began, and then he looks back to the trolls, and his comerades aside himself. "So. Cheesecake?"

Slipstream has posed:
As he looks to help the trapped man under the tree, Drake pushes his hands up against the trunk, digs one foot backwards as he 'blinks' forward, rocking it forward just enough for the man to get yanked out quick by one of the EMS. Helping the wife up, he gives her a quick smile before he passes her off. "Don't worry guys, the Avengers got this well in hand. Just another day in New York, right?" He says to them in a reassuring voice. "See, Thor and the Witch just beat the tar outta the big guy. I'll get you guys some cheesecake."

Snowball circles Natasha a few times before soaring back towards her owner and attaching herself once more in the harness with a 'click'. Bwoop. She powers down as her faceplate flickers out. Brushing his hands off on his pants, he makes his way back over towards the team, trying to shake off the pins and needles in his fingertips.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
That was odd. Natasha was fully expecting them to continue fight until they were all knocked out. But it was hard to do so when Wanda had turned Ulik into a giant red burrito. Those serpents wrapping around him, after all the battering his troops had already gotten, likely convinced him he should've opted for the twelve instead of six.

Standing down sounded good to her though and Natasha's stance shifted, more relaxed as she folded her arms over her chest and just watched the trolls, her expression clearly showing her distrust of them.

She left the talking to everyone else.

Quicksilver has posed:
The fight between Ulik and Thor draws Pietro's attention, which is perhaps not overly surprising. He watches, and he tilts his head a touch to one side. Then there's a flicker of a smile that finds his lips as Ulik ends up pinned beneath the mighty Mjolnir. "That seems fitting," he comments, mostly to himself. He glances over to Drake and gives a nod to him, seeing that he has the couple easily handled. His gaze turns over in Wanda's direction, and he starts to lope over towards her, his stride easy. Then he quirks a bit of a grin before lifting one of his shoulders in a bit of a shrug. "It would have tasted better, too," Pietro comments, raising an eyebrow slightly.

Thor has posed:
Ulik's features twist a little more grumpily, but he shakes his head. "You have won, yours is the right." In regards to Scarlet Witch /STEALING/ the archer's gear. Which seems to cause him some small measure of displeasure though he says nothing save perhaps a grumble.
"We yield." Ulik says as he then snarls, "Now get your thrice-damned hammer off me!"
Which has Thor leaning over the troll. "Well-fought." Then he holds his hand out to the side and Mjolnir leaps into it with that resonant sound of metal upon metal and its accompanying /whom/.
From near the portal several burly trolls rush forward, two of them going to the side of the mammoth and cooing curiously gently to the great war creature even as a third tries to inspect the poor beast's injured leg. Another smallish troll, perhaps eight feet tall, rushes up toward the archer and tries to inspect his injured arm, only for the archer to snarl and snap something in their guttural language which has the smaller one reeling and retreating.
The sound of Iron Man's boot jets firing causes Thor to glance to the side and behind. "Cheesecake sounds perfectly fine in this moment." He then looks back toward the still grumbling trolls, then looks to the other Avengers as his brow twists thoughtfully then he clears his throat.
"Do you think... they might... like. Some of the cheesecake?" He nods to the vanquished.
As Drake sees to the young couple, and with tensions ramping down, some of New York's own emergency teams start to move in as well, mirroring the actions of the trolls in their own way. While the young Avenger departs he gets a few appreciative calls from those he just helped, but then he's amongst the others soon enough.
When Drake and Pietro rejoin as the Avengers stand there, the civilians starting to get close enough once again to film, Thor tilts his head to look at Quicksilver and then Wanda. "Twould be a good gesture."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda Maximoff glances to her brother as he joins her, and nods. "Would have tasted better, I agree. Still can." She looks toward the troll leader, then to Thor. Tony, who'm she nods to. "Cheesecake sounds fantastic.". Her jade green eyes go Natasha and Drake. Then back to the big guys who'd negotiated. She grins a somewhat toothy grin at Ulik, as though almost to say to try it if he dared. She glances to Thor and nods. "If they'd like some cheesecake, they're welcome to come and share some with us. Perhaps we could be allies, instead of enemies?" She looks to Ulik as she says this.

She turns her eyes to the mammoth and the trolls cooing around it, now. Her eyes soften and she walks over, apparently entirely unafraid. "Allow me," she says. She waves her left hand, free of the bow and quiver of arrows. The tell tale red glow surrounds her hand, and then surrounds the splint they're using. It looks no different when the glow leaves, surrounding the mammoth's leg instead. There's a sharp crack of sound as the bones in the mammoth's broken leg are set. She nods to the trolls. "Try it now." The red glow remains, holding the bones in place until the splint can be placed on the leg.

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark nods then. "Cheesecake then." He says this sort of matter of factly as he turns and begins to walk towards the van that Drake had driven into the park for them. They even sampled some to make sure it was decent! Did Tony trust the trolls now? Of course not. He's actually waiting for Ulik to suddenly call on his men to attack them once more while they seem to have let their guard down.

Avengers never really let their guards down, though, do they?

If he makes it to the van, he'll swing the back doors open and then try to figure out how to serve all these cheesecakes to every troll here.

Slipstream has posed:
Flipping the keys to the Cheesecake mobile to Tony, Drake gives a long stretch out, then gives a glance down at his busted knuckles with a wrinkle of his nose. "I did print out the receipe and I got it laminated in eleven by eight. You know, just in case.. they can read." He turns and follows after Tony now to help serve the cheesecake to civilians and trolls.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"First a battle. Then sharing cheesecake." Natasha shakes her head a little bit. "This feels very...Asgardian." She shifted her glance to Thor then back over to the trolls. Then she turned and headed for the truck as well.

"Just give each a cheesecake is probably the easiest." She did notice the hullabaloo when the archer's weapon was taken. She murmurs to Wanda. "Maybe give him back his weapons when they leave."

Quicksilver has posed:
Quicksilver raises an eyebrow slightly as he looks to Thor, and a lock of his white hair tumbles forward over his forehead. Then he glances towards his sister before giving a nod. "True, it still can," Pietro says, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He studies his sister for a moment, and then he gives a nod. "Allies, hmm? Well, perhaps it might work," he says, a thoughtful note to his voice. He glances towards Ulik, and then back to his sister.

He isn't sure that he trusts the trolls, but... there is a certain amount of honour to such things. The trolls lost, after all. He looks over to Drake, and he quirks a grin. "If they can read, and get the ingredients... it should be worth it," he comments, giving a nod. Then he looks to Natasha and chuckles softly. "It does feel very Asgardian. Beat your opponents and then dine with them," he comments, a touch amused.

Thor has posed:
"Well then, Ulik." Thor looks to the others, then back to he troll leader. "What say you?"
Which has the tall yellow furred monstrous man-thing scowling a little even as he glances behind him. "If it was just us Thunderer, you know you would have been vanquished." Then louder as he yells over his shoulder, "MY MEN FAILED ME." Only for him to look back. "But very well, we shall accept this peace offering. Though we would depart and recover from our shame."
Yet some of Ulik's sourness and the general mood of the trolls is aided when Wanda moves off and tends to the great mammoth's leg. At first they are wary of her approach, and when she sets the bone the large war creature ROARS in pain. But then they are quick to attach the reinforced bark split against the mammoth's leg, twisting the loops of the bonds tight to affix it and in a rush of movement the gigantic creature /pushes/ itself to its feet with a thunderous stomp of its good leg, able to support its weight on the injured.
Some of the other trolls nod their heads, looking on Wanda with a mix of incredulity and respect.
Meanwhile Tony and Drake head to the van of said cheesecake, pulling the doors open they will be blessed with the sight of rack upon rack of refrigerated storage that provides safety to no small amount of The Cheesecake Factory (TM) cheesecake. It assuredly will be the solution to the problem with the trolls now. The Cheesecake Factory, available near you.
And indeed, it is rather Asgardian as Ulik tells Thor in a tone of voice that might almost seem amiable. "Well your horrid people were good for one thing at the least. You kept the peace, I blame you and yours for making us travel so. What with your, dying, and your home exploding and whatnot."
Thor, however, seems to take his turn to scowl as he murmurs, "Yes, well. Our apologies for inconveniencing you and forcing you back into your marauding ways. Though I would advise you to take with you three things as you depart."
The Asgardian monarch starts to walk toward the cheesecake van and says sidelong to Ulik, "The first, know that Asgard lives. The second, know that Midgard is not undefended. The third..." He shoves the troll in the direction of the van, "Go get your bounty and depart. Do not travel the paths you took to get here. You will find them closed by the power of the sorceress that bested you."
Which has Ulik bark a short sharp laugh, yet he does turn and move off, but not before shooting a smirk toward Wanda and Quicksilver.
And then, over the next thirty minutes or so, the trolls avail themselves of the treats, take some time to consider what had passed here, and eventually find themselves back on their way through the vortex.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
No. Avengers never really let their guard down. Wanda typically doesn't, at the very least. There's always something. She glances briefly to Natasha. "I have plans for these." So, not going back to the troll, sadly. She's sure he can find another bow back home. Her lips quirk up. "It really does seem very Asgardian, dining with vanquished enemies." She may have said that last bit just to sound a bit like Thor.

The trolls nodding to her and looking at her each get a polite nod. The bow she intends to keep, but she's not going to be a bitch about it. This was Ulik's doing, and she can't blame the others. They were just following orders, essentially.

Once the mammoth is taken care of, Wanda smiles at it, and then turns to walk back to Thor and Ulik. She inclines her head at the mention of the sorceress. She does intend to close the way. It'll take help, but there's enough of that it should be doable. She doesn't truly relax until after the trolls go. Only then does she turn to Pietro. "Would you like a ride?"

Quicksilver has posed:
For the moment, Pietro remains standing still, though the fingers of one of his hands fidget some. Standing still isn't an easy thing. He lifts his other hand, pulling his fingers through his white hair. He watches Wanda for a long moment, listening to what the others say. And at her offer to him, he smiles and inclines his head towards her. "If it please you, Sister-dearest, I would appreciate it," he says, his blue eyes showing a spark of amusement in them.
