The First Asgardian Air Force!
Date of Scene: 06 May 2021
Location: Docks, Kvalvika, New Asgard
Synopsis: The heroes sail with the first Asgardian ship to launch from Kvalvika while they deploy Bor's Shield into orbit.
Cast of Characters: Thor, Winter Soldier, Quake, Slipstream, Black Widow (Romanoff), Iron Man

Thor has posed:
The sunset is majestic across the waters of Kvalvika bay. It is a crimson and orange tableau rich with the hint of gold that seems to devour the entirety of the horizon while far over the cliffs and the mountains to the East the first hints of nightfall can be seen with the twinkling of stars. It is a brilliant progression as in that instant one can understand why so many poets place such stock in the surrender of the sun to the night.
It is here that the remaining people of Asgard have chosen to make their home and slowly rebuild as they can. Here that Fortress Asgard rises high upon the side of the mountain, a stalwart testament to the spirit of the people. Here that the Bifrost has been reforged as the grand mechanism rests at the end of the long rainbow bridge far into that bay.
And now it is here that the first Asgardian Ship has been built, the heavy armored form floating in the bay with its golden draconic prow prominent and the curve of great spines reaching back almost like wings in place of what one would consider sails. It is a thing as much of artistry as it is of utility, though only some eighty feet long and perhaps with a crew of several dozen. The nations of the world would call it barely a skiff, let alone a vessel worthy of remark.
Yet there it floated at rest at the end of the dock, while a myriad of SHIELD equipment as well as StarkTECH computers are assembled taking readings and gathering information while the crew on the ship move about. Each Asgardian armored, each moving with purpose even as Thor descends from the town square along the heavy steps that lead to the docks.
    "Everything at the ready, Jorin."
Jorin Tarnson, Shipwright, moved along at Thor's side, his footfalls heavy as he advanced and shouted, "Clear that mooring, we have not the time!" Only to turn then to speak to Thor, "Aye, my lord. For the most part. The cargo is on board and secure. Will you and your comrades be joining me?"
"As to that," Thor pauses as he espies familiar faces, smiling as he moves in that direction. "We shall see!"

Winter Soldier has posed:
First zapped to Olympus or some such craziness by Hermes, now... space? Bucky's just going to start blaming Natasha. He may not be the Winter Solider anymore, but there aren't many things that make him nervous and uncomfortable. His 'outings' with the redhead are two for the last two in making him nervous and uncomfortable. He's giving the fancy smancy ship the BuckyStare when Thor approaches. He nods his greeting and blurts out, "If we all die on that thing, I'm gonna kill you, Thor."

Quake has posed:
With the SHIELD tech, of course they would send along a small technical crew. Skye was surprised to be included, to make sure everything worked. Though when she actually looked over the whole deal, she was actually excited to be there.

Satellites could be lots of fun! Mind you, she was on her best behaviour. Sort of.

Slipstream has posed:
Following after the group is Drake who is taking in the new sights with wide eyes of wonderment. "Man, this is cool." He breathes out as he runs his hands back through his shaggy brown hair. "We ain't gonna die, Bucky." He drawls out with an amused look on his face. "At least not on a cool ship like this." He offers an upward nod of his head to Thor, 'sup', then lifts a hand towards Jorin. He gives a tug of his bomber jacket around his person, then zips it up to his chin.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
This time is a bit different then last. Her last trip to space, they had taken the Biforst. Admittedly, she felt completely out of her element on Knowhere or in space generally. It was foreign. She didn't understand the beings or the culture. While she had done fine, she was always one to have studied as much as she could, learned as much as she could, before going into a situation. If possible. That time it had not been possible. Thus her happiness when they got home.

This time was different. This time they would not be using the Bifrost. Instead, it would be an Asgardian craft. Though a modified version which had different tech yet she still trusted it.

No nerves. Even if she had them, she would never show it. It's who and what she was. "I would enjoy being on your first launch here in New Asgard. I hope it is the first of many as you adjust to your new life."

Iron Man has posed:
"People dying on that thing might be the least of your worries, Bucky." Comes Tony's voice from behind the ex-Winter Soldier, dressed in pressed blue jeans, a comfortable long sleeved t-shirt with his ARC Core glowing just behind the thin fabric in the middle of his chest. He walks towards the first set of StarkTECH computers settled on the docks, making sure that they're still talking to the other set of computers and gear on the ship itself. "It's all the things that space'll do to you before you die that should be more concerning." Like your blood both boiling and freezing at the same time while exiting every pore in your body as you suffocate - and it all happens in a matter of seconds but they'll be the most excrutiatingly painful seconds of one's natural life.

But what was there to really be afraid of?

He shoots a look to Drake and gives the kid a sort of lopsided smile. "You got life insurance, right kid?"

Thor has posed:
As Thor approaches his footsteps pause and for a moment his good eye widens, "James Buchanan Barnes!" He strolls over and laughs, leaning in to /thump/ a hand upon the other man's shoulder. "Hello, Barnes, old friend."
Then he looks across the way at the ship and says, "She is glorious, isn't she? But as for that, if we all die on it, then I shall deserve it." Not exactly an inspiring speech, but it'll serve for now. That said he continues walking on down the pier as Jorin /leaps/ across the distance and onto the deck. Curiously enough the ship does seem to be... rather open to the elements... for a space ship.
But then Thor swings around to encompass everyone in his gaze as he rests his hands upon his hips, looking from each face to face in turn. "It is good of you all to come, and indeed hopefully this shall be no rarity in the future. Yet we have a task before us. To bring Bor's shield to orbit. Any of you are welcome aboard if you so wish." Thor looks to Drake and gestures toward the ship.
Though he half-smiles toward Bucky, "Though I will understand if you are frightened of such a journey." Oh yes, Thor knows what he is saying.
Meanwhile, as Thor had been speaking, the crowd had been gathering. There are photographers from the mainland, and some bloggers casting, though there is no celebration nor signs of festivities. Perhaps for an Asgardian reason or another. A rarity for those of Asgard, to miss a chance to cheer something on.
Then toward Natasha and Skye he says with a hint of amusement as he strolls to the side to rest an arm on Tony's shoulder, "Though I can assure you, a song shall be written of this effort, and those who wish to be included in the song, well then. They must board." And with that he motions to the side as the gangplank is eased across the way, part of it extending with a faint metallic whir from the hull of the ship.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Not helping TONY! Stark will get a 'stfu' glare from Bucky. He asides to Drake, "So... because it's cool we can't die in it?" He snorts. If that was the case people would never die in '68 mustangs or on motorcycles or wearing Levi's. He's not comforted by that logic. He flexes the fingers on his right hand and curls them into a fist right after... and then does it again two or three times. Then he rolls his head from side to side causing his neck to pop a little, shifts his weight from one leg to the other and finally only then does he lose his scowl and seem to appreciate the view a little bit. "I'm goin'," he grouses as he stares off at the stars appearing in the sky. "...but not because I need a damned song with my name it it. My ego isn't as big as yours." That last bit was obviously said in jest, even with the deadpan tone, because it was said with just a hint of a smile.

Slipstream has posed:
"Hey, if you really want to know how you die, I can spoil it for you. I did roll with people from the year three thousand and something. They got a future wiki for everything." Drake says to Bucky as he trots past him with a wily grin on his face. "It involves a bag of expired beef jerky." He teases as he goes to board the ship. "This is gorgeous, Thor. Definitely the best boat I've ever been on."

To Tony, he asides a grin. "Of course, Mister Stark. It's your insurance I'm on. You even got me the extra appendage protection, just in case I need to pull a Bucky and go all bionic arm, or leg." He gives a long stretch of his body. "Hey Nat." He says to the Widow, giving a swing of his arms back and forth as he loosens them up to get a bit limber. "Do you think we can get Tony to buy one of these?"

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"Not all of us need to be in the song, even if we are on board," Natasha offers up but knows it is futile.

As the gangplank extends, Natasha queues up with those who are boarding and takes her opportunity to move onto the ship. It's such a strange blend of high technology and old Norse tradition rolled up into one. It doesn't look like a spacecraft really, more a boat that will be going out into the ocean. Yet she knows it is indeed built for space. The Asgardians might seem more antequated but they were an advanced technological species in a lot of ways.

Once on board, she found a spot near an side so she would have a good view. She might rethink that once they were under way. Or in space itself.

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark motions to the computers that are so very clearly StarkTECH and just gives a grin, pulling out a pair of shades to slide them on. "I'm just here for the data.." He offers and then looks to Thor, the hand on his shoulder, and he returns the gesture. Smiles for the camera.

PR is going to have a flipping FIELD DAY over this one.

None the less, and all that aside he finally pulls from Thor and motions. "After you, big guy. Better now than never, right?" A glance over to Natasha then. "Hey Red. How have things been going for you? Not seen much of you for.." He considers. "A while."

Then he smirks to Drake and shakes his head a little. "I think I'll stick to upgrading the suit to survive space before I invest in an actual spaceship. Where the hell would we keep a spaceship?" Though he does give Winters a wink while moving along with everyone else to begin boarding the Asgardian craft.

Thor has posed:
"Oh ho ho." Thor says as he points in Bucky's direction but then he turns and he starts onto the gangplank, walking with an easy gait even though the plank sways under his weight with each step. But once on the ship he pauses there and steps to the side, likely just in case anyone might need a hand getting on board and gaining their sea legs. "Thank you, Drake. It is a skiff compared to what has sailed for Asgard in the past, but we are proud of her."
On the ship there are tech stations where more terrestrial gear is set, SHIELD and Stark equipment cover parts and there are some cables that lead down into he bowels of the ship. Jorin steps to stand beside Thor and clears his throat, "We will be ready to depart shortly, my lord."
"Excellent, Jorin. Your father would be proud. Have you and yours decided upon a name for his vessel?"
"Aye, my lord. We are on Odin's Wisdom."
Which causes Thor's eyebrows to rise, but then he nods as he looks more solemn. "Indeed then. A fine choice. Then at your leisure, captain."
As this is said, the ship shifts forward faintly, just enough to jostle perhaps an inch, perhaps two. A low hum emerges from below decks and the curled wings of the ship begin to flow forward, unspooling and twisting to provide a curve of malleable metal almost seeming like fabric to flow over the top of the ship and outward like slender wings.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Bucky is the last one to enter the ship and, odds are, he'll be the first one off when they land again. He's already settled on a spot somewhere with the LEAST amount of 'view'. It's just a big Quinjet, that's all... he'll keep telling himself that. He braces himself against a wall somewhere and he might even have just said a little prayer to himself.

Quake has posed:
Somewhere in the middle, Skye got on board, and got herself strapped in.

Slipstream has posed:
"Really? This is one of the tiny ones? This is like .. Death Star huge." Drake has never been on a Death Star before, but this is the biggest space ship he's been on. "How long did it take you guys to build this? Years? ... Minutes?"

He gives a glance over to Tony as he takes a seat next to him if he sits, lifting his brows upwards with an amused smile. "Where would we put this? I dunno, just use Pym Particles or something and then stick in a cupboard. Can you imagine if we had something like this? This is really freaking cool. You can't say you're not thinking about it." He bumps his shoulder. "Huh? Not even a little? C'moooon.. this is way better than your Lambo."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Natasha remained where she was. Still standing for the moment although she certainly would be sitting and strapping in when it became necessary. Her spot by the railing allowed her to watch those wings unfurl, taking in the beauty of it all.

"Wow," she murmurs, very low so as to hopefully not be overheard.

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark isn't strapping in just yet, and he also isn't sitting, so he and Drake are likely standing next to each other. His attention is on those Stark computers, taking in the data as she ship sort of lurches, begins to come to life. A smirk is offered to Drake and then he shrugs. "Well. Maybe. Quite possibly a little." He offers to the kid and then looks up and around as people board and settle. "Kinda want to build a working and fully operational NCC 1701 D."

Thor has posed:
Thor himself seems to take up a place on the deck with his arms folded across his broad chest. That red cloak is curled over one shoulder and his dark armor gleams with the silver-edging along the sides. He's not exactly strapping in though there are seats and places near the SHIELD and StarkTECH gear where some of the technicians and operatives are in place monitoring the data feed and the power levels as the ship starts forward, its prow cutting a nice clean line through the waves as it heads in the direction of that sunset. Slowly the docks begin to fade behind them.
A cry and a shout goes up from some of the people behind, some waving, some cheering, though nothing too great. Yet one thing stands out, and that is the guard who are standing attention there with their spears held high.
On the ship those wings continue to unfurl and as several of the Asgardians move about the deck. Twisting mechanisms seemingly twined with the structure of the hull of the ship begin to turn and uncoil as the spines of the wings cross over and then abruptly with a /whum/ there's a faint blue haze of a flexible... shield of some kind seeming to come together around the deck, created and reinforced by the curled wings and preserving the inertia of the beings within as well as protecting them. An odd feeling, assuredly.
Thor leans over, one hand holding to the 'mast' although no sail is connected to it, yet it still holds that place of prominence. "Jorin and his family, shipwrights all." Thor tells Drake as he smiles a bit to him and then Tony in turn. "They are responsible for the design, and we had some aid from those of Norway, aid in materials while our artisans had been channeling their power into the needed crafting. It took some doing."
Then the prow lifts up, and the ship seems to rise up slooowly out of the water. There's the sound of the rushing waves crashing against the hull. Then an increase in speed, then abruptly no waves as the ship rises out of the ocean and begins to climb up into the sky as if chasing after that setting sun.

Winter Soldier has posed:
A'ight, maybe it's just because her voice is so ingrained in his head from all the years they worked together, but he heard that. Natasha's 'wow' now has Bucky's curiosity piqued and overriding his case of space nerves. He steps away from the wall with no view to a place that has a little bit better of one. "Dayum," he barely whispers. So that's cool. It's still cool when he quickly moves back to where he was and snags a railing with his left hand. It can be cool from over there too. "So, Nat, you tried the Gyros from that new cart down the street." Because small talk might make him forget that they're in what looks like a Viking ship that's now climbing UP into the sky.

Quake has posed:
Sure, there's a beautiful scene all around them, but mostly Skye was checking her numbers and calculations. After all, there would be a beautiful scene on the way back. The satellite had to be perfect on the launch.

So far, so good.

Slipstream has posed:
As he stares out as the ground shrinks and the sky becomes more closer, Drake finds his breath caught in his throat. He always gets a kick out of this. Even when he traveled with the Legion for the last year. Every take off into space was a rush to him. One small step, one giant leap. Space tugs at his heartstrings.

"Wow, Mister Stark." He says to his comrade as he glances up at him. "It doesn't get old for me at all." He runs a hand up and through his hair. "Also, the NCC 1701 E is a better ship. It destroyed the Borg Cube and has way more power to it, and is considered the most advanced boat that Starfleet had. D is cool and all, but the E is the Rolls Royce of fleetships."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Hearing Bucky's words, and knowing him as he does, Natasha is pretty sure this is nervous chatter. "Can't say that I have. They worth the money?" she asks without budging from her spot.

As they begin rising into the air, she is looking down at the water dropping away below them, seeing it dripping off the ship itself at first in long trails of water then that seems to end as it likely falls to droplets not visible from this angle. Then she turns to look the direction they are going, taking a slow breath and releasing a few seconds later.

Iron Man has posed:
"Maybe we'll make that a summer project. Who knows." Tony offers to Drake and then shrugs his shoulders. A glance around as the wings come up and over, that reinforced yet invisible shield sets to protect them all from the dangers to come. Space. Space is dangerous.

A few more glances to the computers and then he nods before allowing himself to actually sit in a chair, and motions for Drake to join him in the seat beside. "If you can get me specs for that ship...we might could work something out. Won't be as impressive as this is...but I think we could manage something."

Then he calls out, "So far you're impressing me, Thor. You got much more to this thing?" A grin, cause he's mostly teasing the Asgardian God.

Thor has posed:
As the ship continues to rise it eases forward lifting up as it adjusts its angle upward. It's not a rush of speed, not like a rocket leaping into the sky. Yet the ship is going quickly, though there's barely a feeling of movement. Whatever the 'bubble' is that embraces the deck and the curves of the ship's hull, it seems to do an exceedingly good job.
The mood on the vessel seems to pick up. There's the sound of distant laughter below deck and then heavy footsteps as a tall grizzled looking warrior emerges and walks across the way. Toward Thor he gestures and offers a flagon that is held in one gnarled hand.
Only for Thor to clear his throat and wave it off as his eyebrows climb and he looks to their 'guests' then gestures toward that old warrior back toward the hold. Which has that sailor give a nod, a mild intake of breath as if understanding his transgression, then he retreats.
Thor then raises his voice, "Midgard is beautiful," He announces, smiling toward Bucky and Natasha, "Easily seen from this height."
Yet as the prow of the ship angles further upward, no longer is the ship chasing that horizon and instead it seems to be lifting more to the dark which is becoming more and more prominent, and more and more gifted with the twinkle of stars.
Over his shoulder the Asgardian monarch calls back with a gruff chortle heard in his words, "Just keep your wits about you, Stark. We'll make a mariner of you yet." He then turns to point at the magnate as if letting him know he's on notice. But the smile that Thor wears might well steal any hint of malice from such a gesture.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Space tugs at Bucky's heartstrings too. That is to say the ones that tug his heart into his throat. "Not really, too dry," he informs Natasha. It's evidence that this really is just nervous chatter. Why else would he have asked like that if they sucked? His brow furrows slightly as he lowers his voice and asks Natasha, "Is Stark over there talking about Star Wars with the kid?" ... So sue him, dude's been mostly in cryo since the 1940's! He raises his hand for just a brief moment as if he might stop that old warrior and snag that flagon for himself, but alas, he's *working*. "I'll take your word for it," he calls back to Thor.

Slipstream has posed:
"Yeah? You really wanna do this?" Exciting rises up in Drake's throat the idea of building an actual Star Fleet ship. Of course, the idea may come and go like the wind when it comes to Stark's busy schedule, but at least in the moment he's pretty pumped up. "Sure, I'll hit up the Internet and look around for specs. I'm sure some super nerd mapped the whole thing out top to bottom. Think of the bragging rights when you whip that bad boy out and smash a champagne bottle against it."

As he continues to watch the world drift away, he looks back out towards the others of the group to listen to them. "We're talking about Star Trek, Bucky. It's better than Star Wars. Star Wars is just about some doofus with daddy issues and he made out with his sister because .. why not. Star Wars is about foraging into the unknown! The great deep beyond! Protecting alien planets from other alien gangsters and making space treaties!" He gives a look to Tony for backup on this.

"Do Asgardians travel space often?" He asks Thor. "Have you done a lot of space travel yourself?"

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"Well, the early Star Trek was. The rest of Star Trek has been a lot of garbage trying to capture the magic of the originals. And Star Wars is far more than Drake is giving it credit for," Natasha says, giving Drake a glance and a shake of her head. Then back to Bucky. "One is not really better than the other and both have their merits as well as flaws."

Then she goes back to looking forward, to the darkness they are approaching as they have gone ever higher. A hint of trepidation sneaking into her thoughts but she crushes them under her mental boot heel.

Iron Man has posed:
"Kinda with Nat on this one kid. They're both good and bad, for their own reasons. You've got plenty who will argue one is better than the other, but I'm with the few but more correct people that they are equally essential." Tony says this and then he goes really thoughtful. "I could always put a Death Star in space, and use the Enterprise to visit it. That'd really piss some fandoms off..."

Though he takes a moment while talking to look at the computers in front of him and his brows furrow. Standing, he shoos one of his people out of the way and brings up images from the computer to right in front of him - because holocomputers, and it's Tony so why not?

"You've got high energy levels coming in, but you're not running as hot as you should be..." He mentions, aloud, to anyone who may understand his jargon. "In fact...hmm.." He pulls up other numbers, specs, and level distributions before pointing to someone from the Shield side. "You guys seeing this too?"

Thor has posed:
Thor stands there hand upon the mast and he smiles a bit, his good eye distancing as he murmurs in answer to Drake, "Oh aye, indeed." A gesture to the side, "The war here with the Dark Elves, that was my first sojourn beyond the bounds of Asgard. After that I traveled the grand ways between various planets and realms that extended beyond the kingdoms ruled by mine father."
The Asgardian monarch smiles a little as he looks over toward the side of the ship, and now the grand planet looks like a curve against the sky, the silhouette prominent, the clouds long left behind as they climb into the dark above. Everything seems more quiet as the ship seems to come about slowly, its grand wings unfurling and catching what might seem like silent wind beyond the bubble of safety provided by the ship.
Though when Tony speaks, Thor tilts his head and hrms as he turns just so to ponder the holograms. Though one of the young Asgardian crew steps away from her place near the rear wing mechanism and steps up to stand beside Tony. Her expression shifts stern and when she speaks it's with a tinge of curiousity to her voice. "There is naught interfering with the flow of power from Asgard, our core is synchronized properly..." She looks sidelong toward Skye and then Tony as she asks, "If I may?"
And if she is indeed allowed she will gesture toward Tony and motion for him to turn the display to get a more drawn out schematic of the ship proper.
"Our mass despite the anti-inertial barrier... it is too high."

Winter Soldier has posed:
"And Tribbles, one of them has Tribbles," Bucky adds to the conversation. Seems maybe he's seen a late night rerun or something. He GAWKS at Natasha, eyes a little wide. "Uhhhh... Nat, your geek is showing a little," he teases in a whisper. Keep talking everyone so he has something other than the big black nothingness of impending DOOM that is space to think about. Wait? What? He has not a clue what they're talking about other than the fact that it sounds NOT good. He swallows hard and blurts out, "I mean it Thor..." but under his breath and mostly to himself. "If we all die, I'm going to kill you."

Quake has posed:
Something isn't right. "You're certain," Skye interupts the midshipman. "That's *all* the crew and materials are accounted for?"

When she has something cranking out extra power, usually it means something is using it for a reason (good or bad), or wasn't in the original specs. "I would check everything twice." Including the things below decks.

Slipstream has posed:
"Okay, first of all ... we'll shelve this for now, but I'm going to create a Power Point to prove you both wrong." Drake says as looks at Tony with betrayed eyes. He thought he had his back on this one. The force is strong in Tony it appears.

Though, the talk of something going on is what pulls him away from his geekdom. He makes his way over to Tony to peer around his shoulder at the data, furrowing his brows as he rubs a hand along his stubbled cheeks. He shifts his jaw, then gives a glance over to the others. "Are we leaking somewhere?" He says as he squints.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"I had a crash course in all things pop culture a few years back," Natasha offers although she doesn't explain the how or why.

As body languages change, she turns from the view to watch the goings-on, not sure what is happening but pretty sure it could be a problem. Being so close to being /in/ space, a problem is not a good thing to have.

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark side steps to let the Asgardian crew member take over the computer for a moment. He does glance back to Drake and smirks. "Why do you think I said I wanted to build the Enterprise first? I just happen to like both, and I'm old enough that it makes sense to do so." There's a cheeky grin and then he looks back. "I mean, it all seems fine...but also not fine. It's just...odd." He motions. "Save that information to file, make sure we can run the schematics back on Earth." ...If they make it back.

Thor has posed:
Thor is, indeed, paying attention to the big brains. Though that does not mean he doesn't hear Bucky's words. Though this time they only earn him a hand lifted in his direction without looking, as if to stay him from further growlings.
Yet when Skye raises her voice the crewmen turns and nods, "Aye, all we had listed. But best to verify." That said she looks toward Thor and Jorin, the latter of which gives her his permission. "Go, seek what you can, Liese. We will hold here and I will man your station."
Which seems enough for the Asgardian crewman as she adjusts the hang of the sword upon her back before she breaks into quick walk to the stairwell leading below decks.
Jorin gives a nod to Thor, "Soon will be time."
"Aye, I leave it in your hands, Captain Jorin."
Jorin then lifts his voice to a loud shout of command as he roars, "Make ready to release cargo!"
The Asgardian crew on deck and below all heard for they all answer with a loud, "ARAH!"
Which seems to be when the ship turns in a slow leisurely arc as it twists and there is a low mechanical whirring that comes from beneath the ship itself as the cargo bay doors open, expanding wide enough for those near the edge of the ship to see them, gleaming golden as they catch the waning light of the sun.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Both of Bucky's eyebrows shoot way up over widened eyes. His grip on the railing he's near is damned near enough to break the thing in two. As a matter of fact, he decides he just might accidentally do that so he switches from holding it with his left to holding it with his right. Somehow, in a great testament to his ability to remain cool under pressure, he manages to NOT squeak like a little girl in fear when he asks, "Nat, what's going on?" His voice is pitched low, pretty even, but his jaw's clenched almost as tightly as his butt cheeks.

Quake has posed:
"Hey, Tony.. have you been checking where those spikes are, as in where is space?" It could be 'normal' as far as these things go. Skye didn't say what else she was thinking.

Slipstream has posed:
"Hopefully it's not space radiation." Drake says as he makes his way back to slip into a seat that still has a good view of space. He buckles himself in regardless, just in case. "When I was on the Legion Cruiser, Brainiac was always bitching about space radiation. I also thought he made it up and blamed it on everything that went wrong when he was steering the ship. He used big words far too much." He props his chin up in the palm of his hand, calling out to Bucky. "We're gonna be fine, dude!"

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"Just some weird readings," Natasha says to Bucky, making it sound like nothing. "Not unusual I'm sure for a maiden space flight." She says it so convincingly and her body language supports her words.

Course, she's an expert at being able to lie without being detectable. They had yet to build a lie detector machine she couldn't beat.

She is paying attention as they prepare to take care of what they came out here for, to put that shield into place.

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark adjusts the holoscreens, picking them apart a bit and then tilts his head, stepping back and taking his typical stance, studying the images a moment. "From what I'm seeing here, we're getting the connection from New Asgard, it's reaching the ship, but the ship isn't converting it correctly. There's a...hiccup...or a skip...so we're taking on the right amount of power but we're not using it properly..." He tilts his head the other way then. "Though...I think it might have corrected itself on it's own...I don't see the spike anymore..."

Thor has posed:
There is a leisurely turn as the ship lists to one side, but inside the protective bubble everything seems at ease and normal. Though there is that hint of tension in the air. Yet there is also focus as the crew and the scientists focus on their tasks at hand. A technician keys up a new display and it shows the underside of the ship from a sensor or camera that is perhaps attached to the keel.
On that display a large square panel of metal drifts into view, crossing before the camera, catching the light of the sun and blinding the image for an instant and then coming back into view as it turns. From the size of it it must have been quite a shield, large enough to cover Thor entirely if he held it in hand. Though as it turns in space it seems to have more elaborately decorated curved objects that enhance its silhouette. Small portions of it gleam with a gem-like beauty and seem to adjust it and then slooowly send it toward the distance as it floats away apparently under its own power.
After a time Liese reemerges and she shakes her head toward Jorin as she murmurs, "All crew and supplies accounted."
Which has the captain frowning, yet he nods. "Very well. My lord?" He turns toward Thor who nods again.
    "Take us back then, Captain."
    "Aye, my lord."
And slowly the ship starts to turn back and complete its arc as it noses over... then aims back toward the Earth.

Winter Soldier has posed:
"Shuddup, Drake, don't make me come over there!" There aren't a lot of people that Bucky has one hundred percent faith in yet. Natasha's one of the two. Surely she wouldn't lie to him, right? RIGHT?! Right. Of course she wouldn't. He takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly, then another. He unclenches the fist he had wrapped around that railing and flexes the stiffness out of it. Nat will NEVER hear the end of it if this goes South. (...which is to say, odds are, she's never going to hear the end of it.) Turning back? Bucky bounces a little on the balls of his feet, just a little. Yippee! "Thank God," he murmurs to himself.

Quake has posed:
Skye listened to Tony's explanation, and while it does make sense, something still feels wrong with it. Unfortunately, she doesn't have something to replace it.

*Just your nerves. Get over it.* Skye shrugs, and nods. "Just a blip. That's all."

Slipstream has posed:
"You come over here, I'll give you cooties." Drake calls back to Bucky with a wild grin on his face. "You know, landing is the hardest part. You really feel the g-force hit when you break atmosphere. Don't ralph." He looks confident that they won't blow up, at least on the outside. He isn't familiar with Asgardian technicians but from what Thor said earlier, they're pros. He continues to glance at Tony and Skye at times, trying to gauge their faces. Are they worried? Are they chill?

Iron Man has posed:
Everything seems to be coming together nicely, the spike is gone, the shield is launched and nothing blew up. He can't wait to get back and pick apart all this data either. "When we land and disembark, Doordash, I'll treat you to some chipotle." He smirks and then glances around before looking to Thor. "A job well done, Thor!"

Thor has posed:
The descent is a graceful and almost elegant thing as the ship tilts over and aims down back to the curve of the planet and the ocean so far below that beckons them with its sapphire waves. The wings of the Asgardian ship draw back and angle a little more to the rear of the ship, causing it to look a little more like a dolphin as it angles down. The protective bubble remains steady as they continue downward.
At Tony's words Thor looks up and to the side, over his shoulder somewhat as he smiles. "I? I did nothing. Tis this crew and the Wisdom's captain that deserve the credit."
He turns then and gestures, "And once New Asgard espies our sails once again, once they see our return home strong in success and triumphant, then the people will cry out and welcome us. The celebration will last long into the night..."
He walks over and rests a hand on Jorin's shoulder to shake the man slightly before he calls out, "And you all are invited. Celebrate with us and the accomplishments of one brave crew!"
That said the Wisdom continues its steady descent until eventually the bay of Kvalvika comes back into view. And the greeting they receive? It is as Thor said.
