Phone Etiquette Not Applicable
Date of Scene: 07 May 2021
Location: Jeremy's Room (West Halls), Xavier's School
Synopsis: Rogue drops off a busted cellphone and nav sat to Jeremy so the technophile can gather intel
Cast of Characters: Rogue, SpyderByte, Storm

Rogue has posed:
Sometime in the mid morning, nearing afternoon hours, and after Rogue wakes up and gets dressed for the day, she pops over to Jeremy's room. Her hair's pulled back in a ponytail, she wears a black body suit but over that she wears shorts and a tee shirt, the tee shirt saying So When's The Wizard Getting Back to you About That Brain?, and tennis shoes. At least this way she can keep a few more things in pockets, like a royally outside busted, inside likely smashed, cell phone which she's bringing to the technophile. A hand lifting as she knocks on Jeremy's door, hoping he's awake and not like, catching up on beauty sleep or something.

SpyderByte has posed:
Glancing upwards at the sound of the knocking, Jeremy looks over his shoulder towards the door. He turns around in his computer chair, then makes his way for the door. After opening it, he peeks up at her for a moment and slowly tilts his head. His phone holstered to his shoulder chirps.

<< Hello. Good morning. What's up? >>

He steps to the side to let her in. The room has two beds now, one made, one unmade, but it appears that he's alone. Gray's side of the room is fairly bare without much in the way of items, while his is .. also bare.. but with a computer desk and his multiple monitors set up.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue smiles and slips into the room, which she's been in before so she only pays it half a mind now as opposed to the full mind she gave it the first time she was here. "Hey. Morning. Ahm..." She figures getting straight to the point will be best, so she pulls the very busted phone from her pocket. It's even in a ziplock(tm) baggie. "We recovered this at a mission site last night. It belonged to the ones we were up against." She says while offering the item over. "I may have been the one who busted it up to kingdom come, but I was hopin' maybe not all is lost and you can find out /something/ from it?"

SpyderByte has posed:
Glancing down at the phone, Jeremy takes a moment to squint his eyes, then reaches out to take it from her. He slips the phone out of the bag and then heads over to his desk where he sits down and roots through a drawer.

<< I think I have a charger for this. >>

As he roots around, he pulls out a cable and plugs it into a USB hub on his desk, then plugs it into the phone. He starts to press the power button down, waiting as he stares at it.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue nods as Jeremy takes the phone from her and then moves over to his desk to sit and ruffle through his drawer. When he seems to find what he's looking for, and gets the phone all plugged up and such, she looks around to see if there's another chair, but is only left with the choice of sitting on the edge of a bed. So she walks over, figuring the one closer to the computer stuff is Jeremy's, and sits while waiting. "How have things been going otherwise for you?"

SpyderByte has posed:
Squinting at the phone as nothing comes on the screen, that and he can't feel anything coming out of the phone, Jeremy unplugs it and turns it over. He reaches into his drawer to pull out a small toolkit. Extracting a screw driver, he begins to pry the device open methodically.

<< Things are okay. I now have a job at Stark Industries when I graduate. >>

Once the back of the phone is popped open, he takes a smaller screw driver and begins to remove the hard drive after disconnecting the battery from the main logic board. He also removes the tiny micro SD card as well.

Rogue has posed:
"Oh? Well that's good news! Are you excited about working for Stark Industries?" Not that Rogue really knows any of the Avengers, but she's ran into a couple and there's never not a story about them doing something somewhere. Watching as Jeremy works with that busted phone, she lifts a hand to rub at the back of her neck. "I don't know what it was bein' used for. The phone I mean. But I kinda smashed it to try an' render it useless ya know? Then we figured any tech we could bring back would be a smart idea." She's trying to fill the silence, but even that's probably not helping matters any so she decides to just hush her mouth and wait.

SpyderByte has posed:
<< I am, yes. I really want to work for Mister Stark. >>

Sliding the SD card into the hub, Jeremy gives a 'blink' as he pulls the folder up in front of him on one of his three monitors. He starts to copy the files over on to his desktop into a folder that says: Evidence 1035-B. The hard drive is then put into a dummy phone that he has in his drawer. He uses this particular phone specifically for situations like this. In and out. Just like legos. The SIM card is popped in next. He powers that phone on and waits for it to boot as he starts to root through the files.

<< Let's see here. >>

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is pretty silent for the most part. In fact, she pulls out her own cell phone and begins playing a game on it while Jeremy does his work. "Actually, if you want to just mess with that and let me know when you're done, I can surely leave you to it..." She finally offers, giving a glance over in Jeremy's direction.

SpyderByte has posed:
<< Nothing is on there. It's a burner phone. Sioux Falls. There is only a single phone number on the SD card. So, they are using that card to go between mutliple burner phones. So, that means this number is important. >>

Jeremy says as he takes his dummy phone and turns it around, then gives a smile as he glances up at her. He presses his index finger to his lips to her. Shh.

He presses call on the phone. Time to see who will pick up on the other side.

Storm has posed:
The phone rings..

Not once, nor twice, but three times before the phone picks up on the other end.

There isn't any voice on the line, but it was clear that wherever the call was picked up at, was outside. There was chatter of course; the sounds of a couple laughing walking past, or what could have been a couple. A distant song playing in the background..

And children.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue nods as Jeremy talks about the number being important and how he determined that. Well, at least that's something. When he puts a finger to his lips to tell Rogue to be silent she is, watching as he pressed that call button. Not more she can do but wait, and make sure she's got nothing coming from her, which means her phone volume is turned all the way down as well.

SpyderByte has posed:
As Jeremy records the audio from the phone from the software he has pre-installed on his own micro SD card, he tilts his head and waits patiently. His room is 'quiet'. He has sound proofing on his walls and his computer is optimized for nothing but silence.

Finally, he speaks. But the voice is modulated to sound garbled and distorted. Female.

<< Hello. Who am I speaking to? >>

With a blink of his eyes, the third monitor on his computer launches, already starting to GPS triangulate the call. A map is pulled up as the system begins to work.

Storm has posed:
It was still quiet. The person on the other end says nothing.

Eventually, the phone hangs up.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue watches as things pop up on the monitors, and Jeremy speaks into the phone. Still, she's quiet as she can be, which is actually sort of perfect for her being a loner and all. It's just a waiting game, and Rogue plays it well.

SpyderByte has posed:
When the phone hangs up, Jeremy glances over towards his computer and smiles, then gives a wiggle of his fingers as he zooms in on where the call came from.

He pops the back of the phone off again and slips the SIM out, followed by unplugging the battery. He takes every measure to ensure that he is not going to be traced back.

Now, the hunt is on.

He spins around in his chair to face his monitors, then throws his hands outwards as his fingers wiggle. He takes in a deep breath, his eyes giving a rapid flicker as multiple windows begin to launch. He is starting to triangulate the area the call came from, seeking out traffic cameras, home security cameras, and satellite images.
