Date of Scene: 11 May 2021
Location: Elizabethtown (The Old City), Queensland Park
Synopsis: Stakeout Interruptus
Cast of Characters: Captain Boomerang, Supergirl

Captain Boomerang has posed:
It was night time in Metropolis, and a gloomy one at that. Storm clouds hung overhead, though the forecast didn't call for rain, there was the crack of thunder in the distance. Captain Boomerang stood atop a rooftop, overlooking the North Street Seaport. Under the cover of darkness, some containers were being unloaded from a ship.

For now, Captain Boomerang was content to observe. He stood near the edge of a triangular roof, on the narrow strip of flat ground between the two slides. One wrong move and he would fall to his doom. But he didn't seem to care.

He wore his usual uniform, which basically consisted of blue jeans, a black jacket, and a light blue scarf, which had a boomerang pattern on it. His face was uncovered. He really should think about wearing a domino mask. Without one, anybody who knew him could recognize his face.

Supergirl has posed:
It's been a while since Supergirl went for a nice flight, and she rather enjoyed the feel of the cool wind rushing through her hair, even the raindrops falling on her face higher up. Thunder and lightning even, were exciting, and she had to remind herself again how lucky she was to be nigh indestructable against most things.

Even so, high voltage lightning still stung and could hurt her to some extent, even if it couldn't outright kill her. Not easily anyway. As she hears a rumble of thunder that's getting closer by the minute, she decides to descend to the city below, her flight route taking her, incidently, closer to the very rooftop that Captain Boomerang is standing on.

Captain Boomerang has posed:
Even in Metropolis, it was unusual to see someone fly without the assistance of an airplane or helicopter. Drones were far more common. So when he saw a figure fly into his field of view, Captain Boomerang took his eyes off the events down below, and looked up to see who, or what, was coming his way. He instinctively reached for his boomerangs, one in each hand, just in case.

As she flew closer, he could tell she wore a costume similar to Superman. Red cape, blue top, big red and yellow 'S' on her chest, red skirt, red boots, it had to be Supergirl, someone he had heard of, but never had the pleasure. Meanwhile, the workers loaded a large crate into the back of a truck, none of which bore any overt markings. There may have been some, but they were too far away and too small for Captain Boomerang to identify them.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers lands lightly on the rooftop, peering at the guy on the roof's edge. It's pretty clear he saw her and she tenses slightly as she sees him reaching for a boomerang. Waiiiit a minute...

"Woah..Captain Boomerang? But I thought.." wait, hadn't he died? Besides, this guy looks younger. Still..She cant take any chances. And of course, the memory of fighting the original villainous Captain Boomerang about a year ago, during that whole Superman kidnapping thing is still fresh on her mind.

"Oh, I wouldn't try hitting me with one of those, I'm afraid it wouldn't do any good." Even so, Supergirl knows it's never wise to underestimate her enemy. Afterall, who knows what sorts of powers he might possess?

She glances only briefly towards the edge, glancing back towards him and takes a cautious step in his direction. "Alright, what's going on? You working for the bad guys too? You his son, or something?"

Waiiit a minute..He looks familiar. "Wait..No way! You're the guy from the club?" Yeaaah, he's not the only one who's bad with secret identities..

Captain Boomerang has posed:
Because of the roof he was on, he had to turn around carefully, or risk sliding down either side, but she could fly, so it was easy for her. "At your service" he said when she stated his name, his voice sounding familiar, as he didn't adopt a gruff voice or anything when suited up.

He had a wide variety of boomerangs, but he wasn't sure if any of them would work on Superman or Supergirl. Maybe the acidic or explosive ones, but that might just piss them off, besides, he was on the same side as them. "No? What kind of boomerang would work on you?" He asked casually, as if he were asking what her favorite color was.

"In order, no," he was not working for the bad guys, "and yes," he was the original Captain Boomerang's son. "Why do you ask?"

But as she took a step closer, she recognized him, and he recognized her. With her asking if he was the guy from the club, he put away the two boomerangs that he had in his hands, ready for battle, and pulled out a new one, tossing it, at a very minimal speed.

It was a lateral toss rather than a throw that would use the boomerang's own aerodynamics to spin. He was giving it to her. "Maybe," he said. Assuming of course she caught the boomerang, she would see it was inscribed, 'To Kara, from Andrea. Smiling increases face value.'

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers arches a brow at the question, probably not particularly agile or acrobatic for such a slopy rooftop, but it doesn't matter when you can fly. Still, she crouches a bit once she comes closer to him, looking him up and down. Oh, that scarf is kind of..Cute. She smiles faintly as she examines the little boomerangs.

"Oh..Y'know, the usual..Kryptonite. I mean, not like you should go out and make a kryptonite boomerang now or something, cuz that'd kinda be mean but.." she shrugs, finding it hard to not like this guy, even if she's still not entirely sure what to make of him.

As for his father..Well..She bites her lip, shrugging again, her smile fading just a touch. "Hmm, well to be honest..I DID fight him once, he was part of Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad, about a year ago, I believe he held the kill switch, they were threatenning to hurt Superman after they kidnapped him and sealed away his powers..Ohh, it's a big long thing."

She makes a dismissive wave of her hand as she says that. "I remember him though. Your father, I mean. I can see the resemblance now, actually, only..You're not like him at all, are you?"

When the boomerang is tossed at her, Supergirl blinks in surprise, but catches it easily enough, flipping it over to peer at the inscription and smiles faintly again. "Awe, that's so sweet..You got her autograph, for me?"

Captain Boomerang has posed:
"A kryptonite boomerang? Now where would a fella get a thing like that?" He sounded like he was genuinely considering it. But waved off the idea, "Besides, aren't you and the big man the only Kryptonians on Earth, and, you're both good, so what would I need one o' those for?"

The talk of his father had him shrugging his shoulders, "he was a complicated man. Made some enemies, did some things, not all of them good, but you know what they say, you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family." He wasn't sure if he was to take the last part as a compliment, or an insult, "that... depends on what you mean."

"You seemed to like her. She came over and talked. I didn't have a lot of things to write on. Wouldn't dare lose that number." And he pulled that out of his coat, keeping it close and safe. "I'd have called... but, you know, didn't want to seem too eager. That can put off a girl."

Supergirl has posed:
A little smile tugs at her lips at his question. But of course there are a handful of villains out there who could probably obtain doses of Kryptonite from somewhere or other. Heck, his dad is pretty smart, could probably find a way..

Not that Kara would share the info even if she knew. "Dunno.." she simply says with a shrug. "Can't say I knew him well, but he seemed a smart, cunning man, heck maybe he was a great dad..." she hesitates a bit, not wanting to tread into familial matters..

"But at least at one point he was a villain, ruthless, vicious, greedy..What I mean is, you seem like a nice guy, like the way you intercepted that creep in the nightclub? I mean, you don't seem like villain material.." great, she's talking over herself, maybe saying too much. He might get the wrong idea, take it as a personal insult, saying those things about his dad.

A change of topic is welcome and Kara smiles and nods. "Of course! I'm a big fan! And this signed boomerang is so awesome, so..Thank you!!" she just chuckles at the last bit, shaking her head. "Can't say I'm into pushy guys, although I never expected to bump into you like this..All decked out in our costumes."

Captain Boomerang has posed:
"Oh, I don't know if I'd go that far," as she said Digger might have been a great dad, "but, he taught me how to throw a boomerang," and as if for emphasis, he quickly tossed one to his left, which spun around in mall circles as it did a loop. He timed it perfectly, so that the boomerang swung by the back of her head, just enough for her to feel the little breeze it created against her hair, without it actually hitting her, and then came around, and he caught it with his right hand.

Slipping that boomerang away, "it does have the benefit of being unique. There can't be many people out there with autographed boomerangs." And then, there was the oddity of the situation, and how things have changed. "Can I still call you?"

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers sighs a bit wistfully at that, recalling her own father, now dead along with the rest of her doomed race. "Yeah..I guess little things like that are important.." she pauses, thinking. "I..Heard he's..You know. I'm truly sorry for your loss."

And then he's tossing that boomerang around and she twirls around laughing as she feels the wind rushing through her hair. "Wow! That's amazing! You're really good.."

She chuckles and nods at the question, a slightly playful tilt to her voice. "Maybe..On one condition." she winks, "Can I call you Boomer?"

Captain Boomerang has posed:
They came from completely different backgrounds, and yet, in some ways, they were the same. Both were born in a world completely unlike the one in which they now reside. And both were now orphans. Not that he knew that about her. "Thanks, I..." he was about to explain, and then realized that he was thinking of going into his life's story here, on a rooftop, with Supergirl. So instead, he focused on the nickname, "Boomer huh? Sure, has a nice ring to it." With Supergirl here, he had lost interest in trying to observe the unloading of crates. He wasn't even certain there was anything illegal going on. So, he then asked, "I know it's late, or early, but wanna get a bite to eat?"

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods. "Of course! That's why I chose it, fits you perfectly!" she comes a little closer, peering over the edge, trying to figure out what he's looking at..Some sort of stake out?

His question does seem kinda out of the blue, considering they're in costume, apparently spying on people, but kinda sweet too.

"Hmmm well we could but..Looks like I interrupted you on some important stakeout, no?"

Captain Boomerang has posed:
"Then you can call me Boomer, in or out of costume." And then he stroked his chin, which had a soul patch of strawberry blond hair, "not that I hide that well," of course, neither did she, as she wore no mask. With her peering at the events down below, the people were almost ready to move the truck. They had packed up most of the shipping containers that they wanted. "Got a tip that something was going down involving that ship's cargo, though no real evidence to go on. I'm not really the beat 'em up type, then check to see if they were doing anything wrong."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers smiles and nods, "Okay, sure! I mean, I guess you can just call me Kara, these secret identities are so tricky sometimes, dunno how my cousin manages.."

She glances down below and sighs. "Awe, noo..I'm so sorry I messed up your stake out. Gotta say, I'm not the greatest at sneaky stuff myself. But hey, maybe we can go patrolling again sometime? And maybe you can teach me how to throw this boomerang too, hmm?"

She had slipped it carefully in her belt, not wanting to lose it, still intrigued by it. "So, do you have special boomerangs like Captain Boomerang did?"

Captain Boomerang has posed:
"I never did get that last name," he had given her his at the club, but she just introduced herself as Kara. He said it in a teasing fashion, but was now even more intrigued. "No worries, luv," he said, sounding especially Australian as he said that, "there'll be other stake outs. And I'd love to go patrolling with you. Could teach you as well, if you like." He would nod about the boomerang varieties, "yeah, lots of types, and anytime I can think of something new, I try and make it. The one I got autographed was standard. Didn't want it to blow up in your face, even before I knew who you were." And he would brush up against her, doing a playful hip check, just brushing, not actually trying to get her off the roof or anything.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers ohs and shrugs. "My name is..Danvers,Kara Danvers." she could probably just use her real name but hadn't she already revealed too much about herself? And besides, all this secret identity stuff was such a pain. Oh well.

"Cool! I can't wait, it'll be fun..I've never really done a stakeout but it'll be good practice. Yknow, I'm trying to revive the Titans after everyone just kinda went their separate ways, even though everyone is grown up, I think we can all still learn a lot about ourselves and our powers. I mean..We're still young, right? And..I've never led a team before, so."

She chuckles and hip bumps him back, reaching out to grasp the ends of his scarf, not enough to pull him off balance of course. If he pulled back she'd let it glide easily through her fingers.

"Love the scarf by the way, did you make it yourself?"

Captain Boomerang has posed:
"Pleased to meet you Supergirl," he offered a hand and then his voice dropped to a whisper, "or Kara Danvers," then back to a normal speaking voice, "it's great to meet you... again. Kind of weird, getting to know someone's secret, this bloody fast, and you knowing mine, but it's kind of cool too, you know."

"We could totally go on a stakeout together. Nice to have company. It gets pretty dull. Main thing about a stakeout is that it's a lot of waiting, and waiting, and more waiting. I'm part of the Outsiders myself, things have been quiet there, but when the team is called the Outsiders, we're not really the types to have picnics and team growing exercises."

He enjoyed the return of the hip bump, especially as she pulled him in by grasping the scarf, enough to tug him, without actually sending him flying. "Yeah, based on my old man's original costume. He wore this... all over. Jacket and cap. He had a scarf too, just plain white."

Supergirl has posed:
"Nice to meet you too, Boomer!" she echoes him, eyes twinkling, although she does arch a curious brow at the mention of the Outsiders.

"Outsiders huh? I think some of my team mates are part of that group..So is Nightwing, isn't he?" the smile she gives when she says his name is..Well, interesting..

As for his dad's costume,Kara can't help but chuckle a bit, "Yeaaah I remember, It always seemed a bit much, like chicken pox but with boomerangs. But this is kinda cute!"

Captain Boomerang has posed:
"Yeah, seems to be trendy these days, being part of several groups, not actually working too much like a team with any of them. But, eh, the Outsiders earned my loyalty. Long story." And not one he really wanted to talk about on a rooftop. "I'm glad you like it. And... your costume is, well, stunning was the first word that came to mind. I never much cared for Superman's costume, but your version, wow. Instant classic."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers smiles and nods, "I guess the Outsiders can be, what, secretive? And I'm dying to know more about you but I won't pry."

As for her costume, she smiles and gives another twirl. "Ooh you like? I have a few variants, I find it a bit breezier and easier to move in than those full body spandex outfits, I mean, talk about suffocating!"

Supergirl rolls her eyes, "Soo anyways, how's about that diner?Still up for that?" she bats her eyes at that, all playful tonight, "You know I couldn't say no to such a generous offer.."

Captain Boomerang has posed:
With her dying to know more about him, and wanting diner, he figured, in for a penny, in for a pound. "Then," and remembering that she lived in Starling, or went to university. He was still a little confused by why she was spending so much time in Metropolis. He'd have to ask that later. "How about you come over, we'll order in? Pizza? Chinese? Italian? Burgers? I have a wide variety of delivery menus." He chuckled, "and," looking her over once again, "I'll be sure to answer the door." His costume, save for the boomerangs, was pretty much normal clothes.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers smirks and nods, "Sure, why not? lead the way, you live close by? I always love pizza!" now she just has to figure out if this is a date or what!
