The Mutant Farm: How lucky are you
Date of Scene: 15 May 2021
Location: Library - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Scott sits down with Lucas to have a quick touchbase. He brought Victor along for an 'assessment'. Time to sharpen the blade.
Cast of Characters: Cyclops, Sabretooth, Phoenix, Storm, Lucas Farmer

Cyclops has posed:
The library is a neutral place to meet. It's not intimidating like an office and it's open enough to not feel swallowed up in. Scott Summers asked Lucas to meet him and Jean here. At the moment, the pair of X-Men and one very large wildcat is seated at a wide table. Being that it's the weekend, the library won't be in use by students as they blocked off an hour or two of time.

No one is going to complain about that.

There is breakfast sandwiches set up and a large pot of steaming coffee. The field leader is not in uniform, but in a pair of slacks, a button down blue shirt and a black tie. When on campus, he is always professional, even if it's a weekend.

Sabretooth has posed:
Victor Creed has been testing the limits of his 'leash' so to speak, the trust he has earned, one way or another, pushing to stay away for longer periods of time. But he's here today, coming at Scott's summons. He wears a pair of jeans, cowboy boots and a checked button-down shirt open enough to show his thick blonde chest-ruff.

"Nice yuppy outfit," Creed says to Scott. "I'd ask you to do my taxes, but, let's be honest, I ain't payin' no god damn taxes."

Phoenix has posed:
The coffee belongs to Jean. She's not actively curled around the pot like a snake, but she's certainly hovering closer to it than one might typically expect of a human-pot relationship. She's certainly got a death grip on the mug in her hands with the steam doing nothing to help the bags under her eyes. Someone was clearly up late. She possibly hasn't slept yet at all, given the look of it. The jeggings and loose, lightweight pale green sweater she's got on compliment the casual atmosphere, even if the company is anything but casual.

"That'd imply you make a legitimate paycheck." She points out over the rim of the mug.

Storm has posed:
Ororo officially came to the party for the drugs. She was only in the school proper to take a meeting in the library, one that promised coffee that 'Ro now was wary of touching. When the Phoenix hovers over the pot, you will get burned if you take too much. At least, the mental imagery that 'Ro provides for herself was one of amusement.

Her own outfit was pretty basic. Usual black shirt. Usual ripped and torn jeans. Though slippers upon her feet which sound like paper ripping as she walks. Her hair? Forget about it. A quick wash and go left her hair in tight coils and curls which will soon be picked and prodded into style.

"Legitimate paycheck? Sounds like a dream." The woman mutters, flopping into a chair. "Grand risings, my brethern and sister."

Lucas Farmer has posed:
Being summoned! Try as he may, Lucas cannot find a reason why he's been summoned. Did he break any rule? Not that the rules seem very clear to him: basically, he can do whatever he wants, which is lightly unsettling. Compared to the Farm, here he can go outside, in the sun, eat when he's hungry - even sleep as long as he wishes! Or maybe they will finally assign him his work duties. Hopefully, the work here won't be too hard or dirty.

The door to the Library slowly opens, and the young mutant - wary but not scared - steps in the large room, standing as if waiting for orders, his eyes quickly looking around at the many adults there. He's wearing what clothes were given to him, jeans and plaid shirt.

"You want to see me, sir," he says, his eyes finally resting on Scott, being identified as the leader.

Cyclops has posed:
Giving a glance over towards Victor, Scott brings his mug up to his lips for a sip. It says: 'Chuck's Favorite X-Man' on in in bold white lettering. "Whatever you say, budget Wolverine." At this point in their 'relationship', they quit dancing around each other and now mutually respect each other through snipes.

"Take a seat, Lucas. Have a breakfast sandwich and some coffee if you drink it. I hope that you have been settling in well into Xavier's. I heard that you're starting to make a few friends around here, which is great. We'd like to enroll you in classes soon."

Putting the mug down, he nudges it to the side. "I also wanted to introduce you to a few of my teammates. This is Ororo Munroe and this is Victor Creed. Miss Munroe is faculty here. Mister Creed is.." He pauses. "One of our security guards. I just want to talk a little bit about this place that you were raised on. We have contacted the proper authorities .. Shield .. and they will be coming tonight to interview you so that we can find the rest of the children and ensure that those who hurt you are taken care of."

He pries the coffee away from Jean and pours a mug for Lucas, sliding it over to him, as well as the plate of condiments full of sugars and flavors.

Sabretooth has posed:
Victor snorts, "I don't take checks."

When Ororo comes in, he flicks his yellow-eyed gaze her way and gives a playful chomp of his fangs in her direction, "I'd say look what the cat dragged in, but I ain't had the pleasure. Yet."

Then Lucas comes in and the formal crap starts up so he lets Scott do the honors and handle all the amenities. Mostly because he doesn't care. When his name is mentioned, he raises a clawed hand, then cocks his head, "SHIELD's comin' by? Well, thanks for the warnin', big chief. I'll just have to make sure to keep my head low. They might still be sportin' a grudge or two about a few of my...indulgences."

Phoenix has posed:
The best friend of the Phoenix is permitted certain liberties. Sharing of coffee is one. Jean even pours a mug and passes it over to Ororo. Scott's theft is given a more critical eye, but his indiscretions seem to be forgiven.

"We can get you something else to drink if you prefer too." She states towards Lucas before glancing aside to Victor. "Relax. They know - or should know - better than to act above their station in my school." It's said with a little more bitterness than one might expect from her, but then she does look in need of a long nap.

She looks back over to Lucas then and falls quiet so that he can respond to Scott's information.

Storm has posed:
The chomping of the fangs from Victor gives Ororo a sly look. She does wait for Lucas to settle, before Ororo presses a finger beneath her eye to pull down, then stick her tongue out in Victor's general direction. She wasn't offended, that was a pretty good line, one which she'll probably laugh about a little bit later.

All fun and games pause once the coffee is sent sailing her way, and without pause, she scoops it up. Call it two women acting as one, or a clear re-inactment of kismet. She sips, she slumps, and sips again.

Dirty bean water. The best.

Introductions were made now, and the cup was lifted towards Lucas. She says nothing else, however, waiting for the young lad to speak his truth.

Lucas Farmer has posed:
The young mutant stands still, then finally approaches to sit down. Scott's words are heard, and one keeps echoing in Lucas' mind. Guard. Guard. The one identified as Mister Creed is a /guard/. Cautious to /not/ look at said guard, the young mutant nods, feeling the stress level reaching its normal setting on High.

Lucas reaches for the coffee mug, ignoring any condiment. "I like coffee, thank you," he says in a low voice, nodding at Jean. Then his eyes return on Scott.

"Yes, sir. I met some friends here, one even brought me things," he says, the notion of /gift/ being still strange to him. "But they aren't my good friends yet, like my farm friends." On that he pauses, lost in thought for a moment. "You can't find my farm friends," he then states, "When kids leave the Farm, they are never seen again. They say they are sold, I mean, the /guards/ talk about selling some of the cattle. We never knew where they went once sold. All we know, is that there's two types of sales. One to guys wearing white garbs, like the doctors, and one to men wearing black and weapons. When you came the other day to the Farm, it was a white sale that they were working on."

Cyclops has posed:
"Lucas, we have a lot of resources at our disposal. Trust me when I say that we will find your friends, or at least, we will try our best. SHIELD has their ways, and a lot of talent at their fingertips. Just as much as we do, if not more. I rarely if ever contact them for support when it comes to mutant issues, so you need to know how important this is for me."

As he studies him for a moment, Scott takes a glance over towards Jean. << He looks stressed out. Even I can feel it. Do you and Ro want to take the lead on this? He may respond better to women. >>

"You aren't cattle, Lucas. Not here at Xavier's. You are a kid. You know that, right? I can't imagine what type of life you had there, but here at Xavier's, you're not going to be threatened or harmed. Just learn math and English and make friends."

<< We need to get him some clothes too. >>

Sabretooth has posed:
Victor Creed inhales deeply to get Lucas' scent. He can scent the fear, of course. Reminds him of when he liberated prison camps in a few wars. The stink of abuse that lingers on someone even long after they've escaped. Breaks the spirit of some. Not Victor, of course.

Victor never let himself be a victim. Not anymore. Now he was the one who victimized.

He resists the urge to spook the kid just to watch him spook. It would be funny but it would annoy the others and he doesn't feel like listening to them whine about 'caring for others' or 'treating people with dignity' today.

Phoenix has posed:
"The world you came from is not the world as it should be. Ever." Jean says firmly, though from the sounds of it she's got a tight rein on her volume and the emotion in it. "For anyone. That "Farm"... it's horrible. Horrible in ways that I don't want to describe. Do you remember seeing any kind of logo or insignia on the uniforms of these men who came in? Or anyone that came in repeatedly that you'd remember what they looked like?"

Storm has posed:
Ororo keeps sipping her coffee. She really didn't have anything to add, nor did she think it was appropriate to invade Lucas' space by placing a hand upon his shoulder. She didn't want to spook him even further. So instead, she puts out that meaning of calm by relaxing, kicking off her shoes to put her feet upon the chair, leaning in the direction of Victor to at least make him seem SLIGHTLY relatable and welcoming.

Lucas Farmer has posed:
All this talk about the Farm, brings very bad memories to the young mutant. Memories that was painly still too fresh. Behind the seated adults, four or five large encyclopedia starts shaking on the bookshelves.

Lost in thoughts for a moment, mug in hand, Lucas then raises an eyebrow. Logo. Insignia. "Yes, some had a kind of golden circle with letters... We called them the Animal Intake Mission, but I'm not sure if it's their name. We just imagined that's what AIM stand for." Then the young man hesitantly reaches for a sandwich, and eats it in a few bites. Hungry - or used to eat while you can without wasting time.

Cyclops has posed:
"AIM." Scott says with a frown on his face. "Great. SHIELD is definitely going to be interested in that." He says as he picks up his mug again for another sip of his coffee. "So, Lucas, tonight when our friends from SHIELD come to speak with you, we'd like for you to be honest with them. Tell them /everything/. The details will be important, okay? Jean will be in the room with you, so you can feel safe, and you /will/ be safe with her in the room. After you have that talk with them, you don't ever need to talk about the farm ever again, okay? You can go back to being a normal kid here at Xavier's, hanging out and playing video games or whatever catches your interest. We'll handle the rest on our own. Sound good?"

He gives a glance over to Victor and Ororo briefly, taking another sip of his coffee. "Once we figure everything out, I'm sure we can find a use for in this, Victor. Someone told me that I'm not taking a harder stance with this situation." He siiiiips. "And I know that you have a particular set of skills and a lack of morals that may be perfect for this."

Sabretooth has posed:
Victor Creed grins down at Scott, "Aw, shucks, boy scout, you don't have to talk all pretty to suck up to me. I'd kill these bastards for you anyway. Like you said, I'm a bad, bad person, but even I draw the line at raisin' a bunch of kids like livestock."

He reaches down and takes a glass of milk off the counter, taking a long sip and leaving him with a milk mustache before pointing a finger at Lucas, "Don't you worry, kid, I'll decapitate a couple of 'em just for you."

Phoenix has posed:
"Splendid." Jean drawls as she looks between Scott and Victor, bolstering herself with another swig of coffee before she looks back to Lucas. "Afterward, if you feel up to it, you and I can talk some more about settling in here and a gameplan for you to get caught up on what you missed while being there. Before the meeting and maybe around late lunchtime, we'll head out and get you clothes that fit you properly and make sure you have all of the supplies that you need to be comfortable. I just need to catch a quick nap so I'm not a bear for the meeting." A statement that is probably an understatement.

Storm has posed:
Well, hearing about Scott's reluctance was news to her! "Who said that?" Ororo asks, but figures that would be a conversation for another hour. She looks in between all three of them, then shrugs. Would she be involved in the meeting? That was hard to say. She was on 'leave' after all.

"Victor, you're a true sweetheart." That would probably get on his nerves. "Lucas, once you have your classes picked out and you're fully settled after today, tell me your favorite dish, and I will cook it for you as a welcome." Her head tilts in a nod, and she smiles. "It's not a decapitation, but it will be filling and delicious."

Lucas Farmer has posed:
Somehow, Lucas feels suddenly less stressed, would it be by Scott's words and reassurace of having Jean around for tonight's interview, or - strangely - by Victor's promise of killing the farmers. And then the young mutant looks directly at Victor for the first time, his eyes full with a mix of hatred and... amusement! "If you can, sir," he tells Victor, "Burst their balls off before you kill them? We always dreamed of doing just that."
His eyes on Jean now, Lucas nods and offers a faint smile. "I will be here. I need to learn to use a computer, and Jeremy said he will help me if I need him." Lucas' smile widens at the mention of food. "I like oatmeal with sugar," he admits, probably the most sugary thing he used to have at the farm. "Oh... and Alexis gave me chocolate. Mars. This is my favorite meal so far."

Cyclops has posed:
<< Okay, so .. we need Hank to have /two/ psych evals now. Jeremy and him. Burst their balls off? Geezus. Maybe sit in on that as well and peek into his head. I want to know what he saw first hand if we can. I don't want any stone unturned when it comes to finding these people. He'll know their faces. >>

Scott doesn't even flinch as he takes a sip of his coffee, then gives a glance over towards Victor. "I don't need the details. I don't even need a report." He says as he rises upwards, nudging another breakfast sandwich towards Lucas.

"I'm glad to hear that you're getting along witih the others. We'll sign you up for classes and take things one day at a time." He nods his head towards the three adults. "Thank you for your time, Lucas. You're dismissed."

"Come on, Victor. I'll get you lunch. We need to have a chat."
