Setting up a set list for Prom
Date of Scene: 19 May 2021
Location: 66 East 11th Street, Greenwich Village
Synopsis: Jay and Andrea talk about the prom setlist, having kids and Jeeps
Cast of Characters: Rage, Icarus

Rage has posed:
It may be early in the morning but that doesn't mean Andrea is going to sleep in. There is work to do! Though she may not be playing at Xavier's Prom, she is definitely going to help Jay and the band out to ensure they have the 'best' playlist. She is currently sprawled out on the couch with a stack of papers in front of her of lyric sheets, and there is several music videos being played in rotation. She is taking this 'seriously'. She is still wearing her pajama pants, a t-shirt and her barking wolf slippers.
Shehe also has a huge mug of coffee in front of her and a pot that is freshly brewed in the kitchen.

"Okay, I definitely think you should do Zero Gravity! That song is a banger." She calls out to the winged mutant as she takes another long sip, placing the sheet of paper to the 'keep' pile. Ther is about four there currently.

Icarus has posed:
Jay is in the kitchen. He's in his sleep shorts still, no shirt. His wings are as droopy as his eyelids. He's pouring his second cup of coffee, having finished the first with no perceivable results on his consciousness level.

"Yeah, I liked that one. Had a great sound to it. But would be better as a duet with a female. You sure you don't want to show up? We can do that one and perform Weapon if you wanted?" He comes stumble-walking back to the living room and flops on the couch, carefully so as not to spill the cup of coffee.

Rage has posed:
"I would love to, but I am booked that night for a paid gig. I am doing Prom at Hollywood Highschool. Did you know they charge their parents fifty grand a year to attend? It's that prestigious. Imagine banging out two hundred grand to go to high school. That's nuts. But, hey, it's their money. They are paying me two hundred grand to just show up and do a set of five songs while the DJ does the rest. I maaaay have told our manager to jack the number insanely high because ... not to be a bitch, but me, doing Proms? Psh. If I'm going to do a Prom, I'm going to roll around in cash. I'd rather do Xavier's for free than sing Backstabber for yuppie bleached blondes who all hate each other."

Andrea takes another sip, then wiggles a piece of paper in his direction. Wiggle-Wiggle. "This one too. Number six on your album. That slow jam. It's sexy." Once he joins her, she shuffles in close and tucks herself in against him, leaning in to brush her lips against his jawline. "Okay, look through the 'yes' pile and let me know what you think. Feel free to throw out half of them if you want. I'm mostly just picking songs that I want to hear you sing for selfish reasons."

Icarus has posed:
"Maybe we can get one of the students to do it. Shannon since she just hit the charts with her first song? Give her a chance to sing at a prom since next year will ber her senior year, right? She'll want to just be an attendee then I figure."

Jay puts his arm around her as he sets the coffee cup aside. "Even if I don't pick them for the set, I'll sing them for you anytime. You know that," he told her with a smile. He flipped through and only one got moved to the maybe pile which was To The Top. "Not bad but not one I'm thrilled with. I like you threw something a little country in with Amazed. Will flow into or out of Put That In Your Country Song well."

Rage has posed:
"Second song. Now she has two singles. First one charted decently, this one is charting better." Andrea says as she gets comfortable into his arm, leaning her head in against his shoulder. "But, I think she'd jump at the chance to sing with you. It's probably on her bucket list or something."

She looks amused as he moves To The Top to the side. She knew that one was going away. But, she figured she'd try at least! "I definitely wanted to show off your raspy vocals with some of these. That and Lonestar is iconic for proms. Is the band excited to do this? They're cool with being in a mutant only prom and being surrounded by all of us weirdos?"

Icarus has posed:
"They were friends with me. They can deal with weirdos just fine," Jay says with a little laugh. "I think they are looking forward to it. We never got to do a prom before. I get it's kind of a silly thing but it's important to the kids and they all agree it should be fun." So weird he's calling them kids like he's sooooo much older.

"This one is a gerat choice." He held up If I Had You. "I also want to do at least one or two from the new album. Not Weapon since you can't be there. I don't want anyone singing that with me but you." He considers a moment, taking a sip of his coffee. "I was thinking about some of the slower and love songs. Would you be bothered if I did Somebody to Love there?" It was one he had written, to get past his first love. He didn't want to do it if it would bother the woman who held his heart in her paws though.

Rage has posed:
"There's Guthrie weird, then there is Xavier weird." Andrea says with a laugh. "But I'm glad they're good guys and open minded. I really like them. They've become like family to me also." She props her feet up in front of her on the coffee table, the slippers going 'bark' as they land. She takes his arm and pulls it around her waist so that she can snuggle in closer to him.

"I wouldn't be bothered, of course not. Sing whatever you want that you think would sound good. That song is amazing." She says as she tilts her chin upwards at him with a grin. "You know I'll never, ever, get upset about Julia and your past with her. She is important to you and she is important to me also." She says with a smile. "Long as you're okay with me shitting on Mason in some of my songs." She teases. "Though you know I don't do that anyways."

Icarus has posed:
"Well I don't want you writing new ones for him. But you're welcome to sing your old ones doing it," Jay says with a grin, giving her a kiss on the top of the head.

He motioned to one of the videos playing on the screen. "Is tha the Goo Goo Dolls?" He takes a moment to focus. "Iris. That was a good song. I think we should cover that one so add it to the pile."

Rage has posed:
"I don't know what I could possibly write that I haven't already written anyways. Sides, I told him I wouldn't even sing songs like Backstabber at any of my major concerts anymore. When he tried to kill himself afterwards and all that shit his mother put us through ... I realized that .. I mean, he wasn't a perfect boyfriend, but he didn't cheat on me. He didn't screw up. I'm not going to punish him publicly no matter how much the public wants it. Those songs were written on lies." Andrea scrunches her nose upwards. "And I'd rather sing about how hot you are anyways. It's more fun and I like watching you get embarrassed."

"Yes, it's Goo Goo Dolls. You know my mother loves that band? She grew up with them. She got me into Goo. Also, young Johnny? Oh, My, God. Jay, I tell you. If he wasn't like fifty years old and I was single? I'd jump him. I'd jump him hard. He's so hot."

Icarus has posed:
"Well don't let age stop you. I mean he's still amazing, even today. Same voice, just a little older body," Jay says. He's teasing of course. Though she jokes, the two of them are completely dedicated to each other and wouldn't stray. Which is interesting because with such relationships, there is sometimes fear of loss which turns itself into jealously. Yet they didn't have that. They knew each other, knew it wouldn't happen. It was a wonderful place to be.

"So Iris is on the list because it's my favorite love song by them. They are going to have a DJ for in between from my understanding but I still want to give them a good 10 songs or more. That concert experience."

Rage has posed:
"Oh yeah? You'd let me have a dream bang with Johnny? That's cool. Who's on your list? Madonna?" Andrea says with a wide grin as she leans in to kiss the tip of his nose. "Maybe Britney Spears? She's in her forties now and still got a rocking body. I'm telling you, babe, you should do yoga with me. Makes you all flexible." She draws a finger along his bare chest a few times, tipping a wink.

"Iris is a great song. I am pretty sure you and the band is going to give them an incredible night. Too bad I have to sing for snobs and put on fake smiles for their Instas. Oh well. At least it's a paycheck. Maybe I'll get you that Jeep you were eyeballing the other day online that I may have peeked over your shoulder at."

Icarus has posed:
"Nah. I mean it was a nice ride. And maybe someday. I like a lot of old cars and will eventually own quite a few. Get them cheap, rebuild and fix 'em up. Get Sam to help. It'll be some fun projects together I think."

Jay shrugs a little and sets the music aside for now, since they have plenty of time to figure it out through the day. He picks up his coffee to take a sip. "Though with us getting a house out in Westchester, I probably will have to break down and get something."

Rage has posed:
"So, let me get you one of the newer model Jeeps. They have way better gas mileage now and all this technology inside that tells you if you need to fix something. Then you and Sam can have a fixer upper in one of our three garages." Andrea says as she shifts some to swing her legs around to dangle over the arm of the couch while her head flops back into his lap. "What do you wanna do today, now that we're both awake? I have a clear schedule set aside just for you and me."

Icarus has posed:
"As long as it looks like a Jeep. Can't deal with a Jeep that looks like an SUV or something of the sort. I mean if I wanted an SUV, I'd get an SUV, y'know?" Jay says. In the past he'd be rejecting the offer. Now? He just goes with it.

"First breakfast. That little place over in Queens we found. The Mom and Pop place that is one of those hidden gems you find in neighorhoods that only the locals know about. We can work on music choices through the day. Was wondering if we should do something new at the prom or save it for the next album."

Rage has posed:
There's a laugh. "Yes, as long as it looks like a Jeep. We can test drive a car later today if you want. See how you like it. But yes, let's get breakfast. I'm starving and this coffee is just making me jittery." Sliding off the couch, Andrea gives a long stretch as her wolf slippers 'bark' as she starts down the hallway. "You going to miss living here by the way?" She calls over. "Also, definitely do something new for Prom. Give the kids a teaser."

Icarus has posed:
"Yes and no? I mean it was our first place together. So it has a lot of memories," Jay admits as he follows her down the hall so they can get ready for their outing. "Great for flying but a pain to avoid the papparazzi when I did. I think the privacy of the other place will be so much better for us. And closer to so many of our friends."

Rage has posed:
"Technically our first place together was the school. You just wouldn't let me sleep over." Andrea says with a grin as she reaches out to snag him by the hand, giving their arms a slight swing back and forth as they go. "But yeah, I have lived in so many places that I need to learn to just stop unpacking. I think I will miss the sounds of the city. I'll miss heading downstairs and just watching everyone walk around and going to work and hearing the honking and the smells of the city. I'll trade fresh air for smog though, but you know what I mean? This is /New York City/. This is the big apple."

Icarus has posed:
Hearing her talking that way, Jay squeezes her hand. "We can stay here if you want. We don't have to move. I mean it is an amazing city, don't get me wrong. For you, it holds more appeal than for someone like me. But I don't care where I live as long as you are there. You're what makes it home. Not the location," Jay says softly, leaning in to give her a kiss.

Rage has posed:
Leaning forward, Andrea returns the kiss as she loops her arms around his neck. She gives him a smile afterwards, bumping her nose to his. "That's what I love about you, but we're totally moving. I think we fell in love with that house with the pool, it checks off every box and we can just drive into the city in your new Jeep that I'm buying for you if we want." She grins. "I want kids and we can't raise kids in the city. They'll get hit by cars and have a terrible school district. Salem has everything."

Icarus has posed:
He can't help laughing a little. "Well they could get hit by cars anywhere. You just have to raise them right. Trust me, Ma can give us all the pointers we'll need, I think. Between her and your parents? We're all good." Jay gives her a quick hug then finally moves off to start getting dressed so they can head out.

Rage has posed:
"You really want my mom giving us parenting tips? I suppose if they need to learn how to interrogate someone with the most minimal amount of pain, sure." Andrea says as she returns the hug, then follows after him to throw some clothes on so they can have a pancake adventure.
