Welcome to the rest of your life
Date of Scene: 27 May 2021
Location: Tony's Office - Stark Tower
Synopsis: Jeremy and Tony hammer out the details of an internship, and are visited by a Hulk!
Cast of Characters: Iron Man, SpyderByte, Hulk

Iron Man has posed:
After a brief introduction and offer was made, Tony ensured that all the paperwork was received and processed - which is really a long and boring detail he usually leaves to someone else. It's when he's told that it's all been finalized that he makes the call to let one Jeremy Statton know he'd like to hold a meeting with the kid. Date and time set, at his office, he'll be led there or shown how to get there some way or another.

Different from last time where Tony had been stalking around a holoimage of his Iron Man suit, trying to make improvises and changes, he's now got files and folders up in front of him. A whole profile being made for Jeremy that needs some holes filled. Not bad holes. Specific holes. Like the what, when, and wheres of Jeremy's official positioning at Stark Industries.

SpyderByte has posed:
As he steps into the office, Jeremy is dressed in a pair of fresh black pants and a green polo. No Goth stuff. To him, this is a professional meeting. At some point he will get a haircut, but for now, his black hair just settles past his shoulders and pulled back behind his ears. He gives a light clear of his throat, lifting a hand upwards to greet the golden Avenger.

<< Hello Mister Stark. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me. The paperwork went well. >>

Iron Man has posed:
"Hello Jeremy. Jeremy's fine right?" Tony asks while looking over the files in front of him still and then pulls up the file with picture, name, most common information. "Mister Stark was my father. Call me Tony." This much more said before he finally looks over and gives a sort of half smirk. "Yep. All the paperwork went well, got it all in. So I wanted to meet with you and get an idea of where your passions actually lie. Where do you see yourself thriving here at Stark Industries? Any thoughts on that yet or, do you want me to just toss you somewhere and see if you stick?" Like checking if pasta is properly cooked or something. It won't hurt. Much.

SpyderByte has posed:
Giving a nod of his head, Jeremy takes a seat in front of him, folding one leg over the other, then settles his hands over the top of his knees. He gives a bright smile to him.

<< You can call me Jeremy, sir. >>

As he listens to the questions, he tilts his head to one side slowly, giving a squeeze of his phone.

<< I would like to see myself in the research and development department. I really enjoy testing, calibrating and documenting results. Creating a hypothesis and then executing upon it is one of my passions. I am willing to work myself into that department from wherever you put me at. I understand that I am coming in as an intern while I attend college. >>

He taps his fingers together a few times as he holds the phone in his palms. He tries to maintain eye contact but his gaze always drifts off and to the side instinctively.

<< I am hoping to obtain my undergrad at MIT in Data, Systems and Society with a focus on A.I. and Robotics. >>

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark gives a bit of a nod. "Technology is like your thing though right? I mean you calculated what I could do with the suit in about the same time if not a little faster than what JARVIS could have done..." Yeah. Tony noticed that. "If R and D is where you'd like to end up, I don't see a reason with you starting there. Getting your feet wet. Coming up with ideas and helping the team out. We focus less on weapons these days though. More on prevention. Defense. Clean energy. Things like that. If you think that'll be a good fit for you..."

This is all explained to a young man standing in Tony's office, the two having a casual conversation slash interview slash meeting sort of thing. Tony's taking on a new intern, and despite how stoic he seems outwardly, inwardly he couldn't be happier, really. "I might pull you here and there for other little side projects if I feel like you'd be a good fit for them as well. Would that work?"

SpyderByte has posed:
<< If you see me being a better fit, I will go wherever you wish to place me. >>

The young man's voice is coming out of his phone as his thumbs brush along the glass screen here and there. The voice is modulated to be masculine, but young. It still has a digital imprint to it.

<< I love technology of all types, as long as the conversations with it is interesting. Your suit has a challenging personality and I enjoyed talking to it. I told him what your goals were and he gave me the solution himself. >>

He spins the phone around slowly in his hands as he stares at the ground and off to the left, slowly blinking his eyes as he does.

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark nods to Jeremy, and watches him for a moment longer before looking back to the holoimages in front of him. "Not really fitting you anywhere else. Officially you'll be with research, and sometimes might bring you on projects that might need a special mind or few to work on them." He offers and then drops the holoimages before moving to his desk to sit down, and motions to the chairs in front of his desk. "Care to sit?"

A moment longer and then he taps fingers on the desk before offering, "Like recently I went and collected data from New Asgard...they recently launched a ship into orbit to then launch something else out into space somewhere. I forget the specifics... but... I got some decent readings of their specs, their technologies and such. Sat down with a small group a few days after. We're going to be working on combining tech and magic, and I get to go look at their Master Forge...if you think looking over what I got initially would be something you'd see interest in." A smirk. "Otherwise, I'm sure R&D has a few projects to bring you in on."

SpyderByte has posed:
As he listens, Jeremy continues to tap his fingers along the phone in his hands. Once seated, he looks curious at the talk of Asgard and their technology being infused with magic. He gives another round of slow blinks, then squeezes his phone again tightly.

<< That sounds interesting. I do not know anything about magic, Asgardian or otherwise, but I would be willing to take a look at anything you feel I could offer insight on. The technology has to be networked and linked to a signal for me to communicate with it. >>

Iron Man has posed:
"Well, we can get you to talk to the data that was gathered on our database right?" Tony inquires, gently as he goes, because he's trying to understand how things with Jeremy work. "You said you talked to my suit. Called it a he. Does he have a name? Is it not JARVIS?" Again, he could be teasing, but he's likely not. Either way. "Further, has Shield gotten back to you about that payment issue?"

SpyderByte has posed:
<< No, Shield has not got back to me. I am not too worried about it. >>

Jeremy gives a glance about the room slowly, as if his dark eyes was tracking something through the air before they settle once more upon Tony. He gives a smile to him and nods his head.

<< Yes. JARVIS. We had a nice talk. I made sure not to interface with the rest of your network, though I don't think it would be easy for me. You have an incredible set of firewalls and defenses implemented. It could probably take me a few hours and a large headache. >>

He taps his fingers a few more times along the phone, spinning it around.

<< But, yes, I can speak with the data if you upload it into a database and the network grants me permission. It's easier if you do that, instead of me trying to convince it. >>

Hulk has posed:
It'd be funny if it wasn't so... Bruce. The way the door opens just as the intercom to the desk outside is keyed, and in comes a distracted looking Bruce Banner wearing a lab coat, looking at a tablet filled with notes. "Tony, I need the-" He looks up, finally, and notices Jeremy there. In the office. "Oh." Is all he says, "is this a bad time?" His tone is awkward and more than a little shy as he asks.

Iron Man has posed:
"I'm about ready to just give you the funds anyway and they can deal with me." Tony remarks sideways and then he listens more. "Well, I'm glad you can ensure that my stuff is sorely protected so no one random can get into the systems. Anyway, yeah, I can work on all that. We'll make sure you can just have access and talk to it all. I'd really like your input on it though, and to help with the talks between us, Asgard, and... I think SHIELD was invovled. Maybe." He shrugs, mostly because he doesn't care. About to say something else when the door opens and Bruce walks in. "Banner. Not a bad time at all. What's up?" Then. "Ah, Jeremy Statton, meet Bruce Banner. Jeremy here is a new intern for me, but he's really tech savvy." The understatement of the century for Jeremy, likely.

SpyderByte has posed:
Turning about in the seat, Jeremy's eyes widen at the sight of Bruce Banner. The Hulk. The Green Machine. The 'I will shit all over you with my fists if I get angry' guy. He straightens up a bit more as his hands give a harder squeeze of his phone.

<< Hello Doctor Banner, sir. >>

The voice comes out of the speakers of his phone in a respectful modulation.

<< It is an honor to meet you. >>

Hulk has posed:
There's a glance from Tony. To Jeremy, back to Tony. Then, he shrugs slightly, his shoulders hunching a bit, "I have a series of trials to run and a mobile lab won't work. I was hoping the main bio-lab would be open for the next week." It's a bit of a hushed tone, as if he's afraid he's interrupting something.

Then again, Bruce has never been very social. Especially since The Other Guys relationship with him went public; something about being a raw merve with a rage monster awaiting inside tends to kill conversations... which has made the already socially awkward scientist even worse over the last few years since the Avengers went mainstream.

His eyes, however, go to the phone, then to Jeremy. "That was real time syncing of a mental voice. There's no possible way you could have prepared for me before this since I didn't know I'd be here until ten minutes ago." Bruce looks to Tony, "Technopath?"

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark looks between Bruce and Jeremy for a moment and then shakes his head. "Well, autistic. But also yes." This much offered and then he pulls up what looks like a very detailed scheduler, flipping through some files before giving a nod of his head. "Bio-lab's open, so if you want it for a week or so, it's yours." He fills in the dates, even giving a little bit longer than a week. "I shouldn't have anything that needs running there, so you'll have it all to yourself, big guy." That said and then he seems to think on something else and with a few more swipes, swishes and numbers punched, Jeremy will find that a substantial deposit has been made in his account. "Oh. MIT. Schooling. Yes. You need a place to live and such right? Did we already discuss that? I mean it's done, but you'll likely need to see someone about keys..."

SpyderByte has posed:
Giving a nod of his head, Jeremy looks towards Bruce, then back to Tony. He gives a few slow blinks of his dark eyes as he lifts a hand and rubs the back of his neck. His fingernails are painted black as it works through his dark hair.

<< Yes, I am a mutant technopath. I can communicate and integrate myself within networked based technologies and gain complete control over them. I can also see several billion IP addresses floating around the room. Each of them have a distinct personality. Some of them complain very loudly. >>

As he glances back towards Tony, he gives another squeeze of his phone, nodding his head.

<< Yes, MIT and residency is what we discussed earlier per our terms of employment. I have a kitten. Is that okay? >>

Hulk has posed:
"I see all kinds in my travels. Tony is a bit eccentric, but his heart is in the right place, you'll be fine with him." Bruce informs Jeremy. Clearly, Bruce is still a bit thrown off though, with his demeanor still shy, "I'll probably see you around." A glance back to Tony, his glasses adjusted. "I'll talk with you on details later Tony." Bruce looks to Jeremy, gives a friendly nod, then starts heading back out the door, "I'll be in the labs if you need me."

Iron Man has posed:
Tony Stark nods to Jeremy. "A kitten is fine. S'long as you take care of it. I don't have an issue. It's your apartment, I'm just supplying it to you. I don't care if you turn it into a technophobe's paradise. Or a coffin." This and then he smiles. "Yeah Bruce, I'll come down and check in on you soon. Just lemme finish with the kid." Which he does, getting this and that all sorted for the time being.
