Cast of Characters: Pixie, Storm

Pixie has posed:
Ahhh, it's a hot day today, maybe a bit too hot..And as Megan sits on a picnic chair on the rooftop, she's sitting under an umbrella for shade, sucking on a super big ice pop. "Uggggh it's sooo hot! I wish it would rain.." she pouts as she peers up at the blinding sun. It sure is a pretty day today. Maybe if she flew high enough, she could hide in the clouds and cool off? "Boo, but can I breathe that high up?" she ponders aloud.

Storm has posed:
Lightly walking along the very spine of the rooftop is where Ororo happens to be. She wears a pair of jean shorts, and a dark green t-shirt. Her feet are bare. She walks along the rooftop much in the manner that a gymnast would on a balance beam. As she hears the words come from the patio area, she gives a light laugh. Her blue eyes turn milky white, ad her white hair lightly flutters around her as she floats down from where she had started down to the patio where Megan is. Her bare feet make a soft sound on the rooftop proper.

"The rain will come. Be patient. Most likely late this evening is when it will start," Ororo says in a mild tone of voice. She takes a moment to glance up towards the clouds, and then she returns her gaze back to Megan, studying her.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn isn't expecting rain, not dressed like she is, in a cute pink floral summer dress and sandals. No sleeves, no cardigan. Not that she would mind being soaked really. "Ooh Ms Munroe, Hii!" she smiles and wave# to her, still in the habit of calling her team mates in such a formal way. Go figure, not long ago, they were her teachers. It's a bit of an adjustment.

"Oooh, can't you just summon the rain? It's been Soo hot and dry for a long time now.." she pouts, "I'd kill to have such awesome powers as yours.."

Storm has posed:
"Good afternoon, Megan," Ororo says, inclining her head towards the younger woman. She studies the other woman for a moment, and then she lifts her blue gaze towards the sky. There are clouds building up to the east, a line of darkness where they've gathered. She waits until after the words have been spoken before she brings her gaze away from the clouds, turning her attention back to Megan.

There's a small shake of her head. "That is not the way that it works," she begins, a small smile touching the corners of her lips. "When I bring the rain, it is not a summoning. I am not creating it. It comes because I have called it from elsewhere, stolen it from its intended location. When I take away the rain from somewhere, it might leave that place with an unexpected period of dryness, a drought. There are potential consequences to every alteration that I make to the weather," Ororo explains.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks, "Oooh, really? Soo, you're just borrowing weather from elsewhere?" she pouts, "Buuut, why do some areas get to have better weather than others? Why can't we all just share the nice weather? I mean what the good of having weather manipulation poses if you can't use them to make life a little easier?"

She follows Storm 's gaze towards the east, arching a curious brow. "Oooh, do ya think it'd be cooler up there? If the air's not too thin to breathe?"

Storm has posed:
"Yes. I move the weather from there to here or from here to there. I manipulate the weather, I do not create it," Storm says, her gaze turning to look out over the yard. "That is the way of weather. A place cannot survive with life if all it has are days of sunshine followed with more of the same. The flow of seasons is important, and the cycle of water is important," she explains, looking over to Megan.

"Not to mention that if all places had the same weather then it would be rather boring, no?" Ororo suggests, a hint of amusement to her voice. One of her eyebrows quirks up a touch, and a smile teases at the corners of her lips. "I can fly and breathe up there, but I am not sure about you," she comments. "It would likely be cooler."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn hmms, "I suppose you're right. I never really thought of it that way, but.." she sighs longingly, staring up at those clouds, "How far away do ya suppose those clouds are?" she smiles playfully, spreading her wings and hovering off the ground a few feet, "Think we can reach em? If we can't bring the rain to us, maybe we can go to the rain, no?" she grins and shrugs, "I've never really tested my limits, but there's only in way to find out right?"

Storm has posed:
"They likely manage to be both as far away as they appear and as near as what they appear," Ororo comments, giving a soft chuckle. She takes a moment to look out over the yard before her gaze turns to Megan, and then she gives a nod. "There is only one way to find out just how far away the clouds are," Storm says, a smile tugging her lips.

Her blue eyes turn milky white, and she floats up from the rooftop, to ascend near to the same height as what Megan does. "I know that I can reach them. For yourself, there is only one way to find out your limits, and that is to test them. Within the clouds is often cooler than beyond them," she says.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smiles, kicking off her flip flops and grins, glad at least that her dress is long enough to cover her knees. If it gets too windy, at least her dress won't flip up on her with embarrassing results. "Sure, let's go...Race ya!"

Of course, Megan doesn't have the wind at her beck and call, but it doesn't mean she can't try. Either way, she needs to know her limits and what better way to test than this? "Ready..Set..Go!"

And she darts off into the sky, her wings - all four of them, beating furiously, rapidly as she glides effortlessly up into the sky. Dragonflies are apex predators, incredibly agile and fast in the air. Her wings have evolved over the years, from clumsy butterfly like wings to these sleeker, more practical ones.

But even then, can she keep up with the wind rider?

Storm has posed:
The eyes of the weather witch remain white, and she quirks a smile as she inclines her head towards the younger woman. It will likely get windier before it ends up calmer, for such is often the way of weather. Ororo has no wings, but she needs them not -- not with her control of the very air being what it is.

She holds her arms out slightly to either side of her, guiding the winds and rising upon it. She has years of practice at her disposal, and there have been times when she's ridden through the very heart and soul of a hurricane. She easily keeps pace with Megan for a little while, and then she nudges the wind a bit, to grant herself a bit more speed in climbing up towards the clouds. "Let us see how high you can go. Call out if you feel faint or breathless or dizzy at all, yes?" she suggests, looking towards Megan as she speaks.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn nods as she hastens to keep pace with Ororo. She had raced with the likes of Superboy in the past, but it has been quite a while ago, and even then he had outrun her. But she's been putting in extra practice, so maybe she can improve her last record..?

As for altitude, well that's another thing entirely. She could easily keep pace with migratory birds, but had never pushed higher than about 10,000 feet. Now, as they climb into the sky, she narrows her eyes, pulling on a pair of wrap around sunglasses that help a bit against the rushing wind, wings fluttering madly to just barely keep up with Storm..

Phew, it sure is getting cooler as they rise higher, not to mention windier, the air thinner. She gasps a bit but keeps pushing herself.
