Along for the Ride
Date of Scene: 28 July 2021
Location: A SHIELD Quinjet
Synopsis: John talks to Alice and Skye about what happened and the Green Lanterns as they fly out to intercept his ring.
Cast of Characters: Quake, Green Lantern (Stewart), Red

Quake has posed:
Clint was piloting. He was the better pilot, sad as that makes Skye.

Still, she got to talk with John (and Alice!) on the way there.

"What I don't know is how did they grab you, and steal the ring?" Skye didn't have much on the Lanterns, but she was certain they were formidable foes.

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
Picking his way through the small armory on the Quinjet, John was standing there. In his black boxers, eating an MRE, as he checked out what was available. "They tranqed me in the middle of the night with my ring on the nightstand. I wasn't expecting anyone and my security got bypassed." He takes a pistol and starts checking it, "I barely had time to get out of the bed, and they had the ring in a box by that time."

Red has posed:
"I think the next question is, who are they, what do they want and how did you make that Lantern appear from nowhere?" Alice remarks as she straps herself in the quinjet's chair for the flight. "Tough you might want to toss me that grey jumper there, then I get you back your costume."

Quake has posed:
Skye checked her bracers, and checked them again. She had to smirk at Alice, who happened to bring his green lantern to his house by chance. What were the odds of that?

Alice did have excellent questions, though.

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
"The 'lantern' is just a power battery. A conduit to the central battery on Oa. Most of my fellows put theirs in a pocket dimension, but if the rings fail, I don't like having to rely on others to get mine back. I can make it invisible at will or store it." John tella Alice as he pulls a jumpsuit and tosses it to her. "NO idea who they are, I just came back to this sector a month ago. Presumably, by their questions, they want to use my Power Ring to impose their own idea of order on this planet."

John pauses as he takes a look at an ICER. "We've had wannabe tyrants in the Corps before from our own ranks, but I never expected to be assaulted here. I'm going to need to start taking precautions. I hate sleeping with the ring; I'm a side sleeper."

Red has posed:
Alice chuckles as she shakes out the baggy coverall emergency clothing. "Ok, you keep your eyes in that arsenal and no peeking for a few moments..." For about a minute, she repeats the quick costume stunt from the back seat again, jsut it's much faster in the back of the quinjet because there's less need to squeeze into a tight costume and instead just dropping the spandex costume, jumping into the coverall and then pulling that closed. Just some seconds, then she wears that SHIELD thing while mending the changes she made to John's costume. "This takes maybe two, three minutes."

Quake has posed:
"So..I'm confused. I thought that the rings were attuned to willpower. Doesn't it have a test, or something?"

Skye kept on tracking the signal.

"So how would they expect to infiltrate the.. Corps." She guffaws. "It almost sounds the SHIELD - the Corps, I mean. Only more militaristic." SHIELD was not militaristic; they tried to stay out of politics.

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
"They're children playing with fire." John agrees, "They don't have the first clue about how the rings work, and I'm assuming they want to change them." John takes an ICER and puts it to the side, then starts looking for a rifle, "They don't have a snowballs chance in hell of actually doing anything with it. The ring chooses it's bearer. If anyone but me wears that ring, it won't do a thing for them."

Then, there's a pause, before John looks to Skye, "I don't know much about SHIELD. When I was a soldier, I only heard rumors about them. What's your MO?"

Red has posed:
Alice mostly listens as she sorts out the changes she made earlier, then tosses the thing over to John. "As nice as it is to see your Butt, get into that costume of yours and make them think you got another of those ringthings."

Quake has posed:
"Sort of what I was able to glean about that. And yours will only work for you. I suppose they think they can hypnotize you or something. Doesn't your ring understand you? So that it can't be done like that?"

Really, Skye should look up the rings and what is known about them.

"Huh, our MO. Ah! Modus Operandi." She thought for a moment. "Well, we take on things that other people can't, whether because of politics, or they don't know how to, or to keep it hushed. We're not like the FBI, or State Police."

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
"My ass is very nice to look at, thank you for noticing." John quips at Alice, before he starts to put on the cosplay Lantern costume. "The ring has security protocols in case I get compromised, yes. They're the most powerful weapons in the universe, of course the Guardians would make sure they can't be used in the wrong hands."

As he finishes putting the uniform on, John stands up, his energy slowly coming back visibly after eating that MRE ration, "Sounds like us, on a local scale. We Green Lanterns are peacekeepers, and we're very pro-active about it. I'm the primary Green Lantern for this sector. We should talk after this... and yes, we're very militaristic. In a galaxy like this one, you have to be."

He finally takes out an M16, and starts checking it with a practiced hand. It's easy to see the marine in him, "Been a while since I've heard the real thing. I usually make construct snipers."

Red has posed:
"Comeon, the most powerful weapon in the universe are those fusion reactors that dot the sky." Alice quips, chuckling a little as she does some light adjustments to the costume on the fly so it fits while she wears the oversized jumpsuit without fixing it.

Quake has posed:
"We try to use ICERs, you know." Skye doesn't take the rifle once she's seen how he conducts himself with it. "We don't follow the rules and regulations of the military, sorry. But there are similar things."

She laughs. "If by local scale you mean world wide, then yes, we are local."

"Usually I'm a data analyst. But all our agents are trained with firearms, and hand to hand." She takes a deep breath. "I'm pretty good at my job." And then some. She could be counted amongst the top ten in the world. "But you may have seen something else about me. I'm an Inhuman, and my power is vibrations."

She doesn't say much about Inhumans. She looks to them both.

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
"ICER... is that some sort of new weapon?" John looks to Skye, "I can work with that, if you have a rifle version of the ICER." Then, the a pause as John visibly glances up to the cockpit. "Local is your planet. Sorry, compared to what I've dealt with for the last decade, Earth is pretty out there on the galactic stage." John looks back to Skye, "I've worked with governments that have spanned thousands of planets. Relatively speaking, if any of the big Empires came after Earth, the only thing saving you from being conquered by the big dogs are the superhumans... I've read about Inhumans in the ring database."

John steps over to Skye, and holds out a hand, "John Stewart, regular human. Green Lantern of Sector 2814 for the Green Lantern Corps. Nice to meet you." Alice gets a look, "Same to you."

Red has posed:
Alice smiles a little, mainly listening, till it comes to introductions. "Alice Thompson of Earth, Movie nerd, costume maker and Active X-gene carrier. Which means I'm a mutant. If it's from a polymer.. I can give its a different shape."

Quake has posed:
"It works like a rifle, or a pistol, but it renders the victim usually unconscious. As least I've not seen anything other than paralysis of the limbs." Except her father. But he was 'special'.

She took John's hand, and shook it. "Up until two years ago, I would have said the exact same thing. Nice to meet you." And she catches Alice's explanation. "Ah. Makes more sense. Does Clint know?"
