Synopsis: A bit of bonding between friends on a starry night.
Cast of Characters: Kit Killovarras, Nightingale

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Regardless of what fun was had, weird antics shared or strange conversations sparked that first day, some things can't really be helped. In this case, it's the fact that, aside from Kit's form having some weird dietary requirements, it also comes with some habits as well.

It's late in the night, when most sane people would be asleep, whether from exhaustion due to the fun, or simple good planning of their time. The aardwolf though, can be found near the stern of the vessel, port side, laying across the gunwale, one foot draped down to keep him balanced or to catch him if for some reason he falls.

As always, he's singing quietly to himself, not terribly loud, "Turn the page, I need to see something new. For now, my innocence is torn..." but it's enough that he can hear himself and quite possibly, enough to be heard from a few feet away. "We cannot linger on this stunted view. Like rabid dogs of war..."

Nightingale has posed:
Kit isn't the only one who's awake at that odd hour. It was impossible for Shannon to resist the chance to see the moonlight on the sea, and to take in the scent of sea air in the coolness of night. She's in very modest pink satin pajamas, long pants and long-sleeve shirt combo. Her hair is long and loose, and she wears the goofiest pair of floofy Old English Sheepdog slippers one could ever want to see.

As she comes upon Kit, hearing him sing, she stops and smiles a little bit, listening. As he finishes, she takes up with the first verse of the song, her voice soft but on-key.

"Do you remember standing on a broken field?
White crippled wings beating the sky
The harbingers of war with their nature revealed
And our chances flowing by

If I can let the memory heal
I will remember you with me on that field...."

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Kit meanwhile, is dressed in! Well, shorts, very specifically, a pair of shorts that go down to what should be knees, but with his legs being digitigrade, they aren't quiet. The aardwolf typically wears a lot of clothing, a hoodie, shirt, often an undershirt, baggy jeans, but in this gettup he's comfortable and it shows off quite well how absolutely... malnourished he looks. He's amazingly skinny!

When Shannon chimes in with the first verse, Kit's ears suddenly perk up and he turns his head to look at her, his eyes glowing with a pale violet light.

If she continues into the chorus, he'd chime in with her, trying to compliment her pitch and tone as well as he can and when they're done? He'll give a little chuckle and ask, "Couldn't sleep?" with a little twitch of his ear.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon just shakes her head, and smiles slightly. "Guilty as charged," she murmurs, leaning on the railing and looking out over the water. Her wings are in a relaxed pose behind her, flared open slightly to catch the sea-misted air. "This whole day so far has been surreal, but in a good way. I'd better not get too used to being so spoiled!" Her eyes may not glow like Kit's, but they do catch a hint of the moonlight well enough, lending them an odd sort of sparkle.

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Kit laughs a little and nods, "Well, it's good to know you're enjoying yourself." he says with a chuckle, then lets his attention go back up to the stars as he sighs quietly, that smile never really leaving his maw as he adds, "Thanks for inviting me, by the way. Part of why I left home was actually to be able to see the world."

There's a little pause as he just observes the stars, though eventually he adds, "Sorry by the way," he says with a glance to Shannon. "If my meals weird you out I mean. Least it's not one of my weirder qualities though." He says that last little bit with a playful grin, even letting his tongue poke out from between his teeth.

Nightingale has posed:
"Oh please. Your meals are far from the weirdest thing I've seen." Out there on the ocean, the stars seem more numerous, splashed across the sky in cascades of twinkling shards of diamond formed in the early moments of the Universe. Shannon looks up from the moon-kissed waters of the Mediterranean, to the sky above, watching the twinkling lights trip the light fantastic across the stygian firmament. "I'm still curious what nutrition your body derives from insects, that it can't get from red meat. Maybe if we look at that, we can make meals even better for you."

Hearing Kit talk about wanting to see the world, she smiles a little bit more. "You're welcome. To be honest, I wasn't sure who to invite. Gods only know I have few enough friends at school as it is. Most of them are more among the teachers, rather than the students. But you've been among them so far, and it just wouldn't have been the same without you here."

Kit Killovarras has posed:
"My body's just designed for it, I guess." Kit says with a little shrug, then he gives a glance to Shannon and shrugs. "I don't really mind them either, I mean don't get me wrong, I can eat other things and I enjoy a good steak on occasion, but I dunno."

When Shannon claims it wouldn't be the same without him here, Kit can't help but smile a little brighter, but the look fades a little after a moment. He's still smiling, but the way his ears droop a little or the fact that his fangs aren't showing anymore? "I'm glad you consider us friends." he says after a moment, then turns his head to look at her again as he explains, "Honestly, before you guys found me, I'd never really had any friends. I spent so much time either locked away in my families compound or hiding from people that... Well?"

Nightingale has posed:
"Sounds a little like me when I first manifested," Shannon replies, after a long few moments of silence. "My best friend of the time freaked and turned her back on me. Most of our community did the same. My folks kept me inside, which wasn't so bad for schooling because I was used to being homeschooled anyways. But it got lonely." She smiles lightly, thinking for a moment or three. "At that point, I didn't know any other mutants. Closest I could think of was Captain Rogers, and the way he changed from this scrawny little thing, to Captain America. I'd keep thinking to myself, what would he do? How would he handle these changes? And I kept thinking how lonely he must have been, coming out of the ice, and yet somehow managed to keep moving forward. Actually got to tell him about that once."

Glancing over at Kit, she smiles a bit more, letting all that sink in. "Even now I'm pretty cautious about making friends, because it seems the moment I let myself really start caring about someone, they leave, or otherwise disappear from my life, and it hurts. So I mostly keep to myself, and studies. Yeah, there's people I talk to, and it may seem like I make friends easily. But it's hard to let myself really get very close, because I'm always afraid they'll disappear. And they usually do."

Kit Killovarras has posed:
When Shannon starts talking about her friend and when she first manifested, Kit sits up, pulling himself to sit on the gunwale of the ship as he sighs, his legs hanging out over the water "That had to have sucked." he says, giving her a glance. "Can't really imagine what it must have been like. In my case I've never been normal, so I didn't have to experience anything like that."

He keeps an ear folded in her direction while she talks about people disappearing, looking out over the water for a few moments before he leans down and nudges her shoulder with the side of his head. "Well, you have us at least and I, for one don't plan on going anywhere."

And yes, this young man who is more animal than human, just practically folded himself like a pretzel to nudge someones shoulder, with his head. Socially awkward is one thing, this can be considered another entirely.
