A Helping Paw
Date of Scene: 03 August 2021
Location: Bushwick (Mutant Town), Brooklyn
Synopsis: What was meant to be a humanitarian aid run, bringing supplies to the homeless, led to a life-changing fight between two young mutants.
Cast of Characters: Kit Killovarras, Sarah Connor, Mon-El

Kit Killovarras has posed:
It's about mid day in Bushwick and life is going about itself, as per the usual. A fair mix of people wander around, doing their own thing, be it a trip to the store for supplies, commuting or socializing on street corners. From upstanding citizens, to street thugs and even the down-trodden, there is a fair mix of people here, both human and mutant, though a majority of them can pass as human on a good day.

One in particular though, doesn't fit in among humans and it shows. He has a tail for one, but more than that, he literally looks like some weird, massive mix between a werewolf and an Aardwolf! Kit can be found, wearing his typical jeans, though he's let his tail be free today and while he might be wearing his hoodie, he's not wearing the hood up, allowing all his animalistic features stand out!

He's carrying a series of bags full of smaller bags, having just walked out of a corner store. He's got his ears up and on a swivel, looking around for something it seems.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Finally. Her shift was over, and Sarah decided to look over the neighbourhood. For reasons. She always looked around *for reasons*.

She's getting used to the mutants around here. Back in South America, where she had been, the population wasn't so crowded as here, and the mutants were rare. Not that they didn't have them, just there were less . Probably in big cities the numbers were close to New York. But she didn't trust those cities.

She didn't trust much.

Watching the crowds while leaned up against her truck, she happened to notice the 'aardwolf' leaving the store. Weird. But in Bushwick she was in the minority.

Mon-El has posed:
As Kit is exiting the store, he might pick up on some commotion with those keen senses of his. A lot of shouting, and cheering. It looks like some of the street kids had gotten into a fight, and a group of other street kids are standing in a circle around them egging them on. Well all right, one wouldn't need enhanced senses to notice this, anyway. It's pretty loud and disruptive. But due to the crowd that had gathered, it's hard to see exactly who is fighting who.

It sounds pretty ugly, though. Like more than just fists were involved.

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Both of his ears perk forward at the fight and Kit just sighs, muttering something under his breath as he starts over towards the fight. He usually keeps himself at a little under six feet with how he holds himself, he typically wouldn't intervene, but the company he's kept lately has changed him in a few different ways.

He's letting himself stand his full six and a half feet in height as he walks towards the fight, letting his fur bristle a little. He's had run-ins with several of the local gangs in this part of town, he's had a lot of run-ins with smaller groups of punks too, so this doesn't really phase him too much.

As he nears the group, his footsteps otherwise silent, he belts out a sudden, "HEY!" with all the force of an animal roaring to get their attention, followed by a simpler and much quieter, "Knock it off."

Sarah Connor has posed:
As she was looking around Sarah caught out of the corner her eye what looked like a fight from here.

"Great." She stretched, and moved away from her truck. Mind you, it probably wasn't anything that was here to be bothered by, but just in case she figured she should check out. The aardwolf was breaking it up, and despite herself she thought it was better to stick around just in case.

Mon-El has posed:
Upon approaching, Kit and Sarah would find that it actually doesn't really look like a real fight or at least maybe it was almost over because a teen boy who looks to be about 17 is standing over another teen on the ground with a fist in the air. He seems to be encased in some kind of glowing golden energy and had been about to strike the final blow when Kit walked up and started making demands. The crowd parts a bit as they all turn to stare at the wolf-like mutant, and the fight's victor glares at him, body still bristling with energy.

"Oh yeah? And who're you?" he demands menacingly, stepping toward the intruder as the other kid continues whimpering on the ground.

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Kit rolls his eyes as he steps past the parting people, letting go of his bags, which quickly levitate to hang themselves out of reach on a telephone pole. "Name's Kit." he says with a little smile suddenly tugging at the corners of his maw.

Out of nowhere, a trashcan from across the road suddenly arches up into the air and slams down in the direction of the 'victorious' fighter, though there is no motion from Kit, no eye contact with the item, no nothing to signify that it was him, other than the fact that he'd willed the bags into flight. Even if the can misses it's mark or gets deflected, it wouldn't be in danger of hitting the kid on the ground, some unseen force would ensure that.

Meanwhile, Kit just studies the young man with the glowing hand, tilting his head to one side. Though it would be hard to tell, every sense the creature has is being used to size the combatant up. What's his breathing like? Is he sweating? If he's sweating, is he properly hydrated? It's amazing what having the senses of an animal that literally sniffs out termites from yards away can accomplish.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Taking a look, Sarah heads fairly quickly, but still walking, to her truck, and opens the rifle case in the under the back seat. She figures better be prepared.

Sarah was always prepared. Always.

Thankfully she missed that lid!

By the time - maybe 45 seconds? - she was back, holding her rifle, and calm, staring at the bully. Waiting, but her intention was clear. Leave, or..

Mon-El has posed:
Despite Kit's superior senses, he is unable to detect whether the kid is sweating or hydrated or not, likely due to the energy his body appears to be encased in. The trash can flies out of seemingly nowhere, and hits him square in the chest. However, he doesn't even flinch, as the can simply crumples against the glowing barrier. There is a collective gasp from the small crowd.

The kid notices Sarah with her rifle, but seems equally unfazed by her. He just laughs at the two of them. "That all you got? C'mon!" he taunts. "Bring it!" At this, the small gathering begins to chatter among themselves. "Ooooh!" And then, they start chanting again. "Fight! Fight! Fight!" Yes, it seems a new challenger has come. How exciting! They've forgotten all about the loser of the previous battle by now. The victor holds his arms out, inviting the challenge.

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Well, since a physical object didn't seem to do much, Kit just shrugs and glances to the kid on the ground, "If you can walk, get up and go to Riley's. We'll get you some medical attention after I deal with this joke." Then his attention goes back to the other young man, studying the way he shirks off the physical object that hits him.

Kit gives a little shrug and with a little jerk of his hand, sends a series of four small blades of dimensional energy flying at the glowing mans chest, seeing how well the energy field holds up to a more arcane attack. They aren't by any means a full swipe or at full strength, but they are razor sharp and fly with near pinpoint accuracy.

Kit hasn't noticed the woman with the gun yet, or if he has, he hasn't obviously shown it, but his ears did twitch a little at the sound of the gun case opening and closing.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Really with a fight between mutants she is at a disadvantage. Sarah stands back and decides. With her rifle, she shoots it into the air. "Now that I have your attention, the rest of you get out of here."

She trains the rifle on one of them, then another.. and another..

"I know you aren't all immune. Sooner or later someone will get hurt. Your choice."

Mon-El has posed:
The magical blades fly at the teen, and these actually do dig themselves into the shield and send him flying back. There is a mixed response from the crowd, some cheering while others booing or gasping. As for the kid, he starts to recover himself, actually looking angry now as opposed to blithe. Sarah's threats send a few of them scampering, but some of them must have ways to protect themselves against gunshots and they ignore her.

"My turn!" the glowing teen shouts, and he charges head on at Kit, moving at a superhuman pace. Anyone would expect getting hit with that ought to be painful without any protection...

Kit Killovarras has posed:
The gunshot gets Kit's ears to snap down, pinning to his head, but he's in a fight, so he doesn't do much more than that in response.

There is no way Kit could get out of the way, but he doesn't plan to. Instead, his next strike would be two-fold, the first being a sudden, telekinetic jerk at the charging mutants right leg as he's charging. It's only about a hundred pounds of force, but can you imagine the effect of a hundred pounds of force applied on the movement of a charging persons leg? The second would be to cross his arms, creating a barrier in front of him, one capable of stopping large caliber ballistics and energy blasts, so he figures it might do some damage if a stumbling berserker slams face first into it!

Even if the counter offensive he's putting up does work perfectly, Kit knows the impact is going to be painful. The barrier he uses isn't without it's limits and the force exerted on his own body just to be able to use it is incredible, but no fight is ever a painless endeavor and he's quite familiar to the strain his own magic puts him under by now.

Sarah Connor has posed:
With her rifle sounding out, Sarah figures she has 15 minutes tops before the police came. Which means she has 12 minutes to help.

Holding her rifle, she watches them carefully. "Ten minutes." Okay she tells them ten rather than 15. "And counting." She's very calm on the outside, but on the inside? She's counting for her too.

Mon-El has posed:
The leg is jerked, but the protective barrier around it prevents it from really stopping him. Therefore, it only slows him down a bit. Which isn't for nothing, since that definitely lightens the blow against Kit's own shield as the teen throws himself into it. With the speed he's moving and the extra energy behind the blow, it's certainly nothing to laugh at. No wonder he'd won the previous fight, as this charge has got to be on par with the force of being hit head on by a speeding vehicle.

The police are bound to show up sooner or later, that's for sure, especially with that gunshot earlier. Although someone -else- might show up first. But these street kids don't seem to be concerned about that at all, as they continue to roar over this epic fight that's going down now--it's even better than the last!

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Theres a wince from Kit and a loud series of popping noises from his joints as he's hit, but he doesn't go down and when it's safe to, he regains himself and mutters, "Big mistake.." He rolls his shoulders, literally shrugging off his hoodie (with the help of some magic of course) and lets everyone here see the sudden surge of energy that ripples across his furred arms and torso. The 'ten minutes' comment gets the response of, "I'll end this fool in two." as the violet energy crackles down to his claws, leaving them glowing brilliantly.

If his first set of clawed blades was enough to send the golden bull reeling, with just four small blades? It's going to be amusing to see what sixteen fully-formed ones do! Kit swipes his hands through the air, creating long cut-like markings in the air, crisscrossing them in a wide pattern aimed at his opponent's entire body.

Every muscle in his body visibly tightens as he strikes, causing his fur to splay a bit, letting the energy crackling between each strand suddenly arch away from his body like countless tiny jacobs ladders.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Holy shit. That was some fight.

"Come on, come on.." Sarah muttered sotto voce. After all, she has to leave before the police. Sure it got rid of some of them, but some had stayed. And despite her expertise with guns, she hadn't shot a human yet. At least not to kill.

Mon-El has posed:
The teen backs up when Kit doesn't go down like he had kind of expected, but when the giant blades come out, he's prepared this time, and the glowing 'armor' on his body actually sections off partially and flies out to meet the blades in an attempt to knock them away or even send them flying back at Kit. However, he'd probably notice this leaves parts of his body exposed temporarily.

Then, the next chance he gets, a ball of golden energy begins to form in his hands, and he launches it at Kit as soon as it has reached the size of a basketball--though this would certainly hit with much more force than a basketball...

The crowd is continuing to go wild, and some of them are actually starting to turn the other way, beginning to chant "Kit! Kit! Kit!"

Kit Killovarras has posed:
There's his opening and Kit can see it, so when the energy ball comes flying at him, he waves a hand, creating a smaller shield to deflect the projectile into the air and away from others. Then? Then it's a barrage! Blades in sets of four, each swing slightly staggered out, each flying in from a new angle, whether strait on, or crooked and curved to spin out in a wide arch and then back in to strike from the sides.

Four, eight, sixteen, thirty-two! Set after set fly from his claws as the aardwolf goes on the offensive, but it has it's costs. Even if it can't be seen, the strain is starting to tear muscles all across his body. This is the first real fight he's been in with another mutant and chances are, he's going to need a lot of time after this one to recover, but he also doesn't intend to back down. All he needs is to get one blade into an opening, that's it and the energy would be able to cut in like a knife. It probably wouldn't be fatal, Kit wouldn't allow it to be, but it would sure as hell cause pain.

Mon-El has posed:
The orb is partially absorbed by the shield, then the rest of it goes off in an errant direction away from the crowd. It doesn't hit any of the bystanders, but it does hit the front of the store Kit had just walked out of with all those bags. It smashes into an awning, causing it to fall with a crash. There are a few screams as people who had been walking by dive out of the way to avoid getting crushed.

As the blades fly out at different angles, Kit's opponent tries to leverage the bits of his armor against them, but with them coming from so many different directions, he struggles to get them all. Finally, one of them plunges itself into his side, and he cries out in pain as he goes down. Even still, he fires another bolt of energy at Kit from his prone position, albeit a significantly less powerful one. In any case, this is Kit's chance to finish the fight and declare himself the decisive winner!

Kit Killovarras has posed:
With his opponent down, Kit stalks towards the young man and when the bolt lets fly? He lets it hit him, moving his body to take it in the shoulder. It blows open his skin, tight as it was already it wouldn't take much but it doesn't stop Kit from advancing.

It's hard to tell if his bared teeth are out of anger or pain as one of his hands comes up to the wound, his claws zig-zagging over the bleeding patch of flesh and fur, leaving lines across the wound and as he pulls his paw away? The lines tighten, like thread suturing a wound. It takes a moment, but the wound seems to seal itself while the energy fades into it. While he's healing he leans down, bringing himself nose to nose with his opponent, teeth bared, hackles up and a fire in his eyes as he stares the man dead and growls, "Stay down."

Then the sound of crashing, he registers the sound of chunks falling and his eyes suddenly flare up with a brilliant light. His attention snaps over to the screaming passers-by and he holds out a hand, trying to catch as much of the debris that might hit others as he can! He's not about to let anyone else get hurt, but that sudden flare of energy has it's price. Lines of blood start to form all across his tank-top as dozens of small tears start to form in the skin across his body. He's well over his limit now, but he's not stopping until he knows everyone around him is safe.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Damn. He really is stubborn. The time is getting closer, but Sarah is trying to help him - even to put him in a truck and drive. Of course first he has to finish the fight.

"The police are nearly here!"

So she lies. In five minutes it would be truthful.

Mon-El has posed:
And in the face of defeat, the teen seems to spit in it. "Go to hell." he says through gritted teeth. And as soon as Kit is distracted with trying to catch the falling debris and prevent others from getting hit, the kid takes his chance, the golden energy once again forming in his hand as he swings up for one more powered-up punch aimed at Kit's knees in an attempt to knock him over. Unfortunately for the kid in his injured state though, it's a rather feeble attack with not nearly as much kick as his previous ones. But it seems he is determined not to give up his pride.

Kit Killovarras has posed:
There's an impact to what would be a normal humans knee, but because of his legs, it's more like a shin so Kit loses all focus and drops in pain for a moment, nearly falling on the poor fool. His eyes are burning with that violet energy now as he growls, almost as if he's trying to say something, but the sound is too guttural to be understood. Then the energy that was once crackling over his body suddenly disappears and he lets out an almost ear-shattering roar as a pulse of energy suddenly wraps around his opponents body, squeezing down on him like a vice.

This is why Pride is considered one of the seven deadly sins.. Because this fools pride now has him in a situation in which, unless he has some way to defend against an almost unchecked surge of magical energy, he's going to get picked up and slammed repeatedly into concrete by it!

After the display of raw force, Kit stands up shakily, picking up his hoodie in the process slowly walks towards Sarah and her truck. He mutters something to the effect of, "Call... Paramedics..." to one of the on-lookers as he passes them, then a simple, "School... Drive... Please..." as he walks past her, climbs shakily up one side of her truck using the wheel well, then slumps over one side and falls into the back. He's barely conscious by the time he hits the bed of the truck.

Mon-El has posed:
When Kit suddenly unleashes an unchecked magical assault upon the other mutant, repeatedly smashing the already injured teen against the concrete, the crowd at first seems to be getting a real kick out of it, but as he is smashed down again....and again...and again, they start to go quiet, realizing that this is actually moving into the realm of potential lethality, here. The glowing barrier that he'd previously had up has mostly dissolved by now, its energy spent, leaving the teenaged mutant exposed to the blunt trauma.

Suddenly, before the assault has finished, there is a rush of air and a young dark-haired man seems to appear out of nowhere between Kit and his opponent. "Stop!" he shouts. "Can't you see you've gone far enough?!" Finally, Kit stops anyway, and Lar turns his focus on the other mutant, scanning him to see if he's even still alive...

Sarah Connor has posed:
Good. Or depending how you looked at it, bad. But however you looked at it, Sarah was thankful that the fight was over. And she planned on dropping him by the hospital. Let them look over him!

Just had to get him there first.

Wait, did he just say, 'The school'??

Quickly getting on the driver's side, "You have to tell me where this school is." Because this was new to her. She sped out of there.

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Yeah, directions aren't going to be an option. By the time Sarah might look back to see if the creature in her truck bed is able to give directions, she'd find Kit limp in the truck bed, jostling around a little and leaving bloody smears whenever he slides around from the trucks movement. He'd likely apologize for the mess, if he didn't currently look a little like the corpse of a cryptid.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Hospital is it. Complete with her deking off before they can ask her her name. Sorry Kit, Sarah has a wanted poster. She cares that you get help, but not enough to go to jail. Especially the F.B.I. sort.
