Date of Scene: 07 November 2021
Location: Club Evolution, Mutant Town
Synopsis: And Tim makes a couple of new friends
Cast of Characters: Nightingale, Red Robin, Kit Killovarras

Nightingale has posed:
It was early evening, with the night's first patrons trickling into Club Evolution. Some came for the drinks, some for the food, some for the company and the music, some just to come inside out of the cold. But for whatever reason, there was no shortage of patrons even this early on in the evening. All were welcome, be they normal human, mutant, or otherwise, so as they kept to peaceful ways and did not make trouble.

At first, the music was intense, with drumbeats to stir the blood and get customers out on the floor, dancing. But then the lights dimmed, and a simpler guitar part took over, with a few plucked notes and gentle choir sound backing them up cueing in a new song. Right there in center stage was a young woman, perhaps no more than eighteen, in simple wide-legged jeans reminiscent of the era of mirror balls and fluffy shag rugs, a simple long tunic shirt with embroidered keyhole neckline, and simple but soft yet sturdy black boots. Her pale gold hair is long and loose, save for a single ice-blue braid on the left side of her face, and her large, snowy-feathered wings form a natural backdrop behind her as she steps up to the mic, her voice clear and true as she begins to sing.

"A stray bullet, and a mama cries
Her baby won't be coming home tonight
Sirens screaming down the avenue
Just another story on the evening news, oh
Whoah

Politics and prejudice
How the hell'd it ever come to this?
When everybody's got to pick a side
It don't matter if you're wrong or right
And so it goes, but I hold onto hope and I won't let go 'cause

I, I believe you and me are sisters and brothers
And I, I believe we're made to be here for each other
And we'll never fall if we walk hand in hand
Put a world that seems broken together again
Yeah I, I believe in the end love wins..."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake comes walking into the place looking about. He is not quite in the normal club attire. The young man is wearing black dress pants, and a nice dark red button up shirt with the top button or two unbuttoned. He takes a moment to look around the place, and heads for the bar first, moving to order a soda, while he gets the feel of the place.

Nightingale has posed:
The song is sung with a great deal of passion and heart, with the beat of the drums indeed enough to get patrons out and dancing. All shared, for just one moment in time, the idea of a more hopeful future where hate had no place and perhaps love could win. But the song couldn't last forever, with reality settling back in as the last notes from the young singer faded into nothingness. Soon enough, she too took a brief break, heading for the bar and settling down on a stool. "The usual," she said to the tender, with a warm smile and a wing half-extended in a wave. What wound up in front of her was... a root beer, which she savored as if it were ambrosia. As she took the time to enjoy her treat, she glanced around, her brows lofting as she caught sight of Tim there. Her brows lofted, and she seemed lost in thought for a moment.

Where had she seen him before?

Then it hit her. There had been a few times now she'd seen his face, with the most recent being a couple years past. Her smile widens and she waves over to him. "Hey there," she calls out. "Can't quite remember your name, but I remember the face... it was at the New Hope shelter, wasn't it, volunteering on Christmas Eve a couple years back?"

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake looks over and says "Tim." He offers his hand to her, and says "So, the people here get a chance to sample the songstress' work before we get a full album?" He teases softly. Seems Tim knows who she is, but then it is Tim, and with who he was trained by he probably knows who all the staff here are and did a background check on them.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon just laughed, and offered her hand for a firm, polite shake. "Shannon. Pleasure to see you again." She took a long pull of her root beer, allowing herself a sigh of enjoyment after as she savored her favorite drink. "To be honest, I haven't quite got enough songs for a full album yet, but it's slowly getting there. As for the people here getting a chance to hear the songs first," she adds, her smile widening. "If it wasn't for them giving me a good swift kick in the pants to get past stage fright and get out there, I wouldn't have had the guts to go as far as I have. So I'd say they've earned it."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake nods a bit to this and sips his soda. He looks over and says "So, since you seem to come here often, this may sound like an odd question, but is there a place here where it is easier to hear someone when chatting. I am supposed to meet someone here for a meeting, and though the music is cool, being able to hear one another would be nice.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon seems to give this some thought. "Best bet may be some of the booths at the back, if you want to stay indoors. I know the owner and manager have plans for a rooftop area, but that's not quite finished yet." Looking over one shoulder, she tilts her head a little bit, idly stirring the ice in her soda with her straw. "Maybe I could suggest a little sound shielding on a couple of those booths for folks who might want or even need a little bit of quiet."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake hmms and nods "Yes, Mr. DaCosta was the one who set up the meeting here for me, a man who he thought may be of interest to me for a possible job opening we have.

Nightingale has posed:
At the mention of Mr. DaCosta, Shannon's cheeks turn a lovely, glowing shade of rose, her wings ruffling and... is that a twinkle in her eyes, or is it a trick of the light? No, surely it must be an illusion. She coughs lightly, almost giggling, and most certainly smiling. "He's been looking into different ventures lately. Got me signed on to his Seraphim Studios pretty early on. Wonder what he's up to now...?"

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake hmms and says "Well this is more a connection between the company I work for and X-corp, we are hoping to help with their finding jobs and intergrating people from the surrounding area. He tells her. Tim sits drinking a soda chatting with Shannon at the bar.

Nightingale has posed:
"What company's that?" Shannon asks, sipping idly at her root beer. She's perched on a stool at the bar, chatting away with Tim. "I can imagine the people in this area wouldn't mind the help with jobs and all. It'd be nice for folks elsewhere to see not all mutants are bad, you know?"

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake nods, and says "Wayne-Tech, we have a few things near here, and some special skills could be useful in some of the positions we have opening, but also, we are hoping to help the community in other ways besides just throwing money at it.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon's just getting a piece of ice in her mouth when Tim mentions his company affiliations, leaving her coughing and tapping her chest for a minute. She reaches for a napkin to politely take care of the ice, which she had momentarily breathed in, coughing. "Wayne Tech, as in...?" Listening for a moment, it's a few precious heartbeats that allows her to compose herself, dabbing at her lips with the napkin before disposing of it in a nearby trash can. "Would never suggest just throwing money at the area. Folks have their pride, too."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake nods, and says "Yes Wayne Tech, as in one of the largest tech companies around. This may let things click, one of the big wigs VPS is a man named Timothy Drake-Wayne. "I spoke to Mr. DaCosta, hoping that if we work with X-Corp, it may lead a few others to give them a try.

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Skulking is something nocturnal creatures do best at times and Kit is no different. In a setting like this, most people would just assume he's a wall-flower, but he also tends to take it to a strange extreme. Typical hoodie? Check. Hood up and obscuring face? check! baggy cloths covering the rest of him? Check! The only thing that he has going on for him that he typically wouldn't in this sort of moment is the fact that his tail is openly visible instead of stuck down a pant-leg.

His footsteps are utterly silent as per usual as he comes up to the bar to sit near Shannon, opposite her current conversation. For the moment, he's going to be quiet though, simply listening.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, smiling wider still. "It'll be great to see people in the area have an honest shot at holding their heads up again, ya know? Some people around here have had it pretty rough." Seeing Kit make his way over, she turns and smiles, waving one wing at him but otherwise not making a fuss over him in public. "Glad you could make it!" is all she says

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake will nod in greeting to the person Shannon seems to know, and says "Well right now, just hoping we can get people to start making changes. I hate to say it but Gotham is not the best place for obvious mutants, to many of the citizens see someone who does not look like what they consider normal and assume they work for one of the city's crazies."

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Kit gives Shannon a glance and a little half-hearted smile, "You kidding? I love hearing you sing, wouldn't miss it for the world." he says with a little chuckle. "Good song by the way." Then there's a little bit of a pause and he gives a little sigh, muttering, "Really wish I was old enough to drink in this country..."

When Tim mentions Gotham not being a great place for mutants, he just gives a little chuckle and shrugs, "People don't like mutants regardless, can't imagine it'd make it any better associating then with psychotic crime-lords."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon lets out a little sigh after properly introducing Kit and Tim, her wings drooping briefly. "Sadly," she admits, "Not many places -are- great for obvious mutants. Me, I'm one of the lucky ones. My visible mutation is angel wings, and I've got healing gifts." She shrugs a little, cracking a bit of a smile. "Maybe it's a little naive, maybe a little idealistic, but maybe... just maybe... if we can get more folks thinking like you, or Mr. DaCosta, then more can see that not all mutants are such a bad thing after all."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake nods and says "Well, I am hoping we can at least help with the corporate side, but we also have to try to make sure, that they are not just used for their abilities. I mean you said you have healing powers, but from what I have seen in just this little but, you do not seem defined by your abilities.

Kit Killovarras has posed:
"Teaching everyone to see is as people is going to be the first step," Kit says with a glance to Tim, tilting his head before he finally pulls down his hood, revealing what he is. "And that's a hell of a first step. It's almost like you'd be trying to convince the world that part of human nature needs to be ignored." He takes a moment to order a drink - a cola specifically - before adding. "Once the world sees us as people, it'll make it easier for them to see us as equals. Getting them to stop assuming the worst of us though sounds like a good start."

Nightingale has posed:
"Maybe it's a little naive and starry-eyed," Shannon adds to what Kit says, taking a sip of her root beer. "But every time I get up on that stage now, I keep thinking that if I can get even one heart to change that way with something I sing, then maybe it's a right step in that same direction... seeing us all as equals." She smiles a little wider. "As sisters and brothers, meant to be here for each other, like the song I just sang."

Peering over at Tim, she smiles a bit and nods. "I try not to be defined solely by my gifts," she admits. "There's more to each of us than gifts like that, if others just take the time to ask, and listen. But I've been one of the lucky ones, with family who raised me that way. Not everyone's so fortunate."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake does not seem shocked by Kitt's appearance, almost as if he was pretty sure of it already, maybe he is observant. I and Mr. DaCosta talked about it, and some times some powers will do specifically things well, like someone with flame powers may make a good welder, but don't want him being just a welding machine. The fact that some of the heroes who have worked with the Avengers and such have been open mutants that helps. People like the Beast."

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Kit gives a little nod to Shannon and offers a smile, "Naive? Yes, but I've seen people change from less." He gives a little shrug, then takes a sip of his drink when it's brought to him and adds, "And I mean, hell. Music can melt even the coldest hearts on occasion, so you never know."

Tim is given another glance and a nod, "Seeing someone as an asset for what they can do is one thing, but seeing them as nothing more than a tool is sort of how most countries wound up taking part in the slave trade. Avoiding a repeat of that particular part of human history is going to be a strange task though."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles hugely at mention of Dr. McCoy, her wings flaring in quite a happy, pleased sort of way. "Utterly brilliant gentleman, that," she says. "And a heart as big as he is. He's been incredibly kind in helping me learn to shift my gifts to something much more helpful than the form they initially took. I owe him a great deal."

She smiles even more as she listens to Kit, leaning over to give him a brief one-armed hug across the shoulders. "Been incredibly lucky to have friends like this one, too." Falling silent, she listens a little bit more, humming a little as she gives some thought to what's being said. "Someone told me once, 'Get enough people riled 'nd that's how you get a revolution.' I guess the biggest hurdle is getting that revolution going in the right direction, against things like hatred, and slavery, and bigotry."

Red Robin has posed:
Tim Drake nods, and says "And that is depending on the country we are in, cause sadly we can't make everyone else do the right thing, but with time. By the way I'm Tim." He says offering his hand in greeting too Kitt.
